I have been trying to get ahold of Medicaid office for a month now emailed. I have been calling and leaving voice message everyday. I have dropped off my letter from my doctors appointment into the drop off box letting then know I’m 6 months pregnant and I need help. I need insurance. And I’m still waiting for someone to answer me and help me.....
They take forever to get anything done but when they want something from you they expect it right away. The wait time is unreal. Getting anyone on the phone is impossible. If you can deal with all that then they are helpful.
Impossible trying to talk to a real person. Haven’t gotten my stamps this month. Running low on food and know one answers there phones. 30 min waiting on the phone and still waiting. How do they sleep at night
What can I say they really help me out
This folks are really nice if you treat them with respect. Yes, the wait can be long but, you know, were there getting free benefits so it is what it is. Im grateful for the service and the assistance. Thank you
Due to having severe back issues, Lupus and RA I had to apply for temperary assistance. Having to go on welfare for someone like was very humbling and made me feel “less than”. My worker was very kind, understanding and treated me like a human being. The office is always clean and the front staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Love the fact they have child care for the little ones... Most of the time I am seen and done before their allotted time is finished.
This place is a tragic miss use of taxpayer dollars due to the inefficiency of the employees working there! 2 of every 3 employees is busy doing absolutely nothing with no concern for the people they are supposed to be serving in their public service role as they suck down 2 or 3 times more money than the average person they are supposed to be working for! The blatant disregard for the human condition here is staggering! There should be an investigation into the misuse of time by this authority!
Very accommodating to everyones needs. My scooter wouldnt fit in the elevator so the person found a room downstairs.
Gotta get there pretty early to begin your 4 hour wait but I had an amazing case worker and I dont plan on going there to many more times.. I am looking for a job though and yall should hire some more people. Just saying😉
Division of Public Assistance needs to open up about 6 to 9 more offices throughout The Anchorage School District, Muldoon and Mat-Su Valley Areas. I would like to be treated like Im human, instead of being cattled through the long morning waiting line that goes from 8am and only lasts through Noon Monday Through Friday. I shouldnt have to catch the 6am bus transit, making two or three stops on my way there, to beat the 8am morning line-up. Such a review like this, one could assume that Division of Public Assistance regularly practices discrimination against Alaska Natives and American Indians; but such is not the case in service to the public. When you are seen, you dont have to make an appointment. It is walk-in and first come first serve basis. To better provide services to the public, people need to feel welcomed with an option of 6 to 8 more Division of Public Assistance offices to choose from, be seen by appointment only and to better regulate the massive amounts of paperwork on updated PCs with the use of the latest version of Windows 10; the latest updated scanner/copier/fax machines and Norton Antivirus and Malwatebytes Premium. Sensitive data collected, needs to be kept secure on those latest computer hardware and softwares as well as being kept on file.My largest problem, was with the feeling of area-wide discrimination by only keeping one office open, with limited time to be seen. I feel all would benefit if Division of Public Assistance Offices were spread out, and more easily accessible to the greater public.I am asking Mayor Ethan Berkowitz for more Division of Public Assistance Offices throughout Anchorage School Districts, Mat-Su and Muldoon Areas, to serve the public well, and in a more professional manner.
I am very sympathetic to the employees here as they are very over worked with huge case loads. That being said they are dealing with peoples lives and so there should be a certain level of competence to insure they are getting cases done correctly.
It was one of those days where the workers were very efficient
Very helpful
Once you make it back to talk to someone the workers in my experience are almost always kind and fair. %90 time. Always greatful for whatever help can be given
Although very helpful, you better get here at least 20min before they open if you want to be seen. Unfortunately they are horribly understaffed. But everyone I have delt with here has been kind and helpful.
This place is not organized enough due to not having enough employees and they are rude too
So slow, but you get your benefits and thats great
Ive been waiting almost 2 and a half hours now. Still no call from any of the eligibility technicians there are people here before me that have been waiting longer. Its crazy to me because its now a quarter til 1pm and Im assuming theyre either lunching or half of the staff has left for lunch. Theres no online service to quicken the process and by now there arent even that many people waiting. The lady the checks you in has no knowledge on the length of time youll be waiting or whos next in line. Id rate this no stars if I could.
Great new deluxe seating! Amazing clear picture, and awesome sound quality! Good times.
I had a great experience here. It took awhile yes but the employees were nice and helped .
Very helpful, bring lunch and drink long wait
They are real quick to cut you of if you dont turn you paperwork in on time but Ive been waiting almost 2 months for my food stamps after I recertified. Its the same thing every single time you get that yellow packet in the mail.
I have a disability...mailed in my re-newal paperwork for food stamps 6-7 weeks before cut off date (Dec. 31st.) - I have called this number 3 times and left my information. I still have not received a call back, a request for information, approval or denial letter. I guess I will call Juneau see if someone can help me there.
I was able to renew my drivers license thank you DMV for putting up with me an letting me take my test I had to take in order for me to drive
Place to get different forms of assistance, whether you qualify for just medical benefits, or some of the other programs the state has to help those with a need.
Wait was a bit long but Dianna was a great help. Id rather call to make a sit down appointment though
I didnt have to wait in line even though I got there 5 minutes till they closed, there was nobody in the lobby. It was a ghost town.
I understand this place is busy & the employees are extremely overworked, but its worse than the stereotypical DMV! Would not recommend going here unless you positively HAVE to!
Always get help from them. Great people.
I cant even tell ya how great it is to have that extra had from food stamps... love this place!!:) thanks guys, thats a hard job to do
If you’re tring to call them. DONT EVEN BOTHER. I called them 6 times in a row and I ended up leaving a voicemail again and again. I left a brief message, a Ssn, a name and a dob, but have not receive any phone call. Their message on the phone is a lie. They do not check their voicemail daily and will not return your call back.
Dont expect less than a 4 hour wait. And its not on the website, but dont come in after 3pm, they wont see you.
They are understaffed, but do the very best they can in my opinion. My suggestion is to pre-fill out paperwork and go at 8am Tues-Thurs. Opt to be interviewed on the same day.
This system needs to change, streamline the application..on&on..sheesh
The kind lady (which is rare) at the front desk told us the average wait time is 2 hours. I have been here since 8am and it’s almost noon. The wait time is just too long. It reminds me of GCI in that they will assist you between the hours of 8am-5pm.You can either drop your paperwork off and risk having it lost in the shuffle or take the day off work to sit at the office all day...I wonder if this a deterrent to keep people from applying for assistance.Oh look a group of case workers are headed to lunch....I wish I could grab a bite to eat but I’m afraid if I leave my name will be called and I’ll lose my place. Why are there no vending machines in the lobby so people can at least buy a snack to hold me through the wait ?I guess I’ll sit here with the shakes until I’m seen😞
There is only 1 main DMV in town now, except for the express ones which are different. If you plan to get items and paperwork done at the DMV, I would suggest going right as it opens, though there will still be quite a wait
It didnt take a long time even though I got there 30 mins before the doors open but I saw a eligibility tech & she did my entry correctly & I received my needed paperwork & cards within a week. Thank you
Had to give some one a ride but busy
Theyve helped me alot
Its help when its needed
Crowded but things get handled
They help out on getting people help with food and insurance that are low income
They tell the truth and they help where is needed
Expect to be here at least an hour if only dropping something off plan for half ur day if u need to speak with a worker
Ok just ok
Great customer service!
Super packed, NO places to sit . If it wasnt for my kids id NEVER go.
Maen hateful people slow service
Staff was helpful
They NEVER have same day service. The staff is so damn rude. If my family didnt need food stamps Id NEVER go here. The workers are the worst in Alaska public assistance history.
Go in the morning when it first opens. They open at 8AM i arrived by 11AM and there were at least 100+ people in there.
They will not help you unless your white if your native they will tell you to go to C.I.T.C who also will not help you and will send you back to public assistance its annoying Especially if you dont have a car!
Waited a few hours to try n be seen
This place is slow and sometimes disrespectful to your situation.
