Just moved to the area and went for a powder gel manicure. The technician that I had was rude and incredibly rough with my hands. She cut 8/10 of my cuticles with the automatic filer, and continued to be rough even after I pulled my hand away and told her that she was hurting me. For $50, I shouldn’t be leaving the salon with botched cuticles. I won’t be back.
Jennifer was amazing! I got the dip powder with extensions and she got my almond shape perfectly, she was so thorough. She also gave me a wonderful spa pedi and eyebrow wax. Can’t wait to go back.
Scheduled an appointment in advance, as this was my first time coming here and I wanted to get a pedicure before going on vacation. For a $50 price tag, there were just some things that were lacking for me. I usually go to a salon by my house, but tried this place because I had to go to work right after. My appointment felt pretty rushed, and a little painful when it came to exfoliating. There was also no music playing, and the door was wide open, causing flies to come in and be annoying. I also noticed some techs don’t use the toe separators when painting, so I had to be really careful when walking. But this was also a task since I had oil all over my feet and felt myself constantly sliding.Overall, this is a nice place if you’re in a rush and just need your toes or something done, but definitely not the place if you like a nice relaxing ambiance like I do. Pretty disappointing since it’s in such a nice area, but oh well.
Showed a picture of what I wanted got a terrible powered set. I haven’t had my nails done in a while so I assumed he was doing acrylics but instead he did a terrible French powder mess. I paid $95 basically $100 for a regular pedicure no gel or anything and the rest on these terrible nails. Never going here again or recommending them to any friends. Over priced for no reason.
One day I paid a reasonable price. Then the next time I go I feel like I paid over the price. The work is ok but not all that to be charging an arm and a leg. They’re friendly though.
I was in the area and stopped here. Came in right at 10am for a fill in, which is when it says it opens. The nail tech hadnt arrived yet so the woman there offered to do my eyebrows while I waited. I accepted, they turned out okay. About 10:20 the gentleman arrived. He was apologetic but still had to get settled. I was back the very next day (had to come out of my way) because my gel paint had chipped randomly. Cover to find out, he hadnt used a base paint before applying the color. All nail, but the one I had repainted, chipped before week 2.
Made an appointment with a specific employee. When I arrived I was told that person wasn’t not available and an employee argued with me that I was wrong. She dealt with the situation unprofessionally and I will take my business elsewhere.
Got dip nails here a few times and every time I loved the result. Lots of colors to choose from and staff are friendly.
Ive been coming here for a few months. My usual tech is pretty good, but I get peeling much quicker here than I have at other salons with gel polish. Theyre close to my house, though, so Ive been forgiving. But tonight was the last straw. My usual tech wasnt there and I had tried an experiment with SNS, which I didnt like, so I had to get them removed and then had regular gel put back on. I have long, almond shape nails which are my signature look. Ive had them for years. This tech first cut them way too much from the tip and the rounded them. I said no a little more pointy. She proceeds to file the edges down to STRAIGHT LINES. By the time she finished one hand and went to the next I realized the problem and repeated that I wanted them almond shape. But she had ruined them. She tried again and shape was awful. Just looked amateur and terrible. She said I should have said something sooner and that almond is very difficult. I ended up having to file MY OWN REMAINING NAILS MYSELF. And then she proceeded to charge me full price. I was so mad I just left and did a cursory inspection. Its been 30 minutes and I just looked the hack job she did and its full of air bubbles and uneven application of top coat because it was rushed. I dont think Ill go back.
I dont even know where to begin with this nail lounge. My sister has gotten her nails done here a few times before but I guarantee she will not be going back ever again. How do you let a client walk out of your store like this. You should be ashamed. She even showed a picture of what she wanted. She went in with the intentions of getting ombre polishing. But somehow was convinced to get french tips?.but I guess that was too much to ask for. If you couldnt do it, you shouldve said so. But this is a big no no. She didnt want to stay another minute longer so she walked up to the king st salon to have them fixed as soon as she left your lounge. Shame on you. Shame on you for thinking this was okay. And the fact that i have to leave this review disgusts me because i feel like if i can visually see something is wrong then you should be able to. Especially if your going to work in a nail salon! She didnt even want French tips but if you were going to give them to her at least do them correctly and make them look pleasant.I strongly advise you to reevaluate if you should really be owning a nail salon and if you somehow decide that you should, recruit experienced employees who can actually do nails.
Jenifer is very nice;
Arrived at 7:17pm request for pedicure and eyebrows. They told me no one was able to assist me because they close at 8pm. Absolutely no one was in the shop, but the employees. Don’t waste your time and money!
It makes me really sad to see the negative reviews on here because Jennifer, Lee, and the rest of the technicians are in fact super sweet people. I started going there because they do SNS. Now my mom, sister, and I all consistently use this salon for pedicures and manicures. Every time I go in, when they get the chance, they ask how my family is doing and how my week was. And I see other regular customers who have a similar relationship with the ladies who work there. As far as their nail services, they do solid work. On their standard pedicures, they use orange slices and give great massages. If you have an ingrown nail, they are really good at treating it. Every technician I’ve worked with is super detail oriented and just wants the customer to be happy so they will come back. They are good, kind people who work hard. Give them a try!
The best nail salon in Alexandria Ive done. Ill come back when Ive free time, Nice Technicians, warm atmosphere
I love Jennifer! Great staff and location!
We came to the salon for a fun girl time. We walked in and they were instantly rude. The said pick a color and then we waited for an hour. My friends nail tech was so rude she refused to talk. She then asked for payment before she painted her nails. She did not ask anyone else. I saw multiple people pay before they left. My nail tech CUT MY FINGER while cutting my nails. She then used the Polish on my bloody finger, placing the bloody brush back in the bar. They treated their regular like roylalty. I guess its our fault for not being a regular
This place is a block from my apartment so I keep going back out of convenience... which is a mistake every time. My last gel manicure here looked worse before I even left the salon than my previous gel manicure looked after two weeks (which I had done elsewhere). I’ve only had one friendly encounter with the techs, and the prices seems to be a few dollars higher than better nearby salons.
I’ve been getting my nails done here for for the past two years. Jennifer is my favorite technician. She does a great job and is super helpful when I can’t decide on a color 😊
The best nail salon in Alexandria, you must try this place to own the unique nail salon, warm atmosphere etc
Vivi is just THE BEST!!!I just moved to VA from out of state a few months ago and I was having a hard time finding a reliable technician and I am so lucky now!!! She will make sure you leave looking at your best, and feeling happy. I highly recommend the salon and her without hesitation!!
My nails are very sore it should never hurt this bad
I go during the week when they have their happy hour specials. However, even with the discounts, I feel like it can be overpriced. The salon is clean, but the service you get from stylists are hit or miss. Convenient location and hours are the reason why I return.
Amazing service. Stopped in as a walk in during the middle of a weekday. I was immediately greeted and put in a chair based on my pedicure request. Discount/Specials during happy hour - M-Thur 10-3 (I think). I ended up enjoying my pedicure so much I added a manicure and waxing services. Phenomenal. Le was excellent and I highly recommend asking for her.
The staff is very professional, Im so satisfied with 21 nail lounge
First timers. Wonderful experience! Nice location, service, atmosphere & pricing. The gentleman & ladies are so welcoming & look after you. Humorous too. The treatments are very nice as well as selections. Go get pampered. Will be back routinely!
Nice staff
I visit here once or twice a month for a pedi. Enjoy the massage! Nice color selection. Feels clean. I really like that they use tub liners. Nice location next to Lost Dog and Sugar Shack -- easy to grab a bite after!
Super cute place. They give snacks and water when getting serviced. Not sure what the snacks are but they are so good. The staff is very attentive. The tech that services me event went above and beyond to make sure my polish showed up really bright. For it to be in a shi shi part of town it is pretty inexpensive. Can’t wait to go back again
Theyre very friendly and efficient.
I have visited almost all of the nail salons old town has to offer and this is by far the best. It’s kept incredibly clean, managed well, and is always busy (a great sign). The staff are so incredibly nice (grab Vivi when she’s there) and they always do a fabulous job. If anything happens after you have left the salon they essentially have a “rain check” where under a week they will fix your sns/gel/manicure for free without question. Also - there’s a parking garage on Madison a 1 minute walk away that’s only $2 after 2 hours I believe. This is by far my favorite salon, and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Even the men in old town have seemed to find this one :)Also - re the colors being more expensive. They have extra shiny colors for $5 more than the manicure. Just pick another color if you don’t want it!
This was the first nail salon I visited when I moved to Alexandria. The prices are extremely high for the quality and customer service you receive. I visited the salon at least half a dozen times. Not once did my gel nails last two weeks, or did my pedicure last two weeks. I was hoping to build a rapport with the ladies there, but lack of conversation/customer service inhibited that from happening. Although I can’t understand the language, it was also evident that they talked about customers which was not a comfortable feeling. Needless to say, I’ve taken my business elsewhere.
Great great service . The ladies that work there are super sweet and caring. They did an amazing job on my pedicure and full set. By far the best full set ive EVER had. Highly recommended!!
They used an orange slices during the pedicure, which was unusual but I guess it felt good. Really happy with the pedicure quality.
I used to come here for all my gel manicures and pedicures. Its only a block away from where we live, so it was just really convenient to go there. The reason why I will never go back there? The techs are rude! They are constantly talking in their own language to each other, and laughing so you get the feeling that they are talking about you. The last time, when I asked them to put on an extra layer of gel nail polish (I always ask for 2 layers of the color nail polish, otherwise my gel mani doesnt even last for a week) and I clearly stated that I wanted to pay extra if I had to, she was just telling me that it wasnt possible... Previously, with other techs, this was never a problem. Apparently customer service dropped here to 0. If youre looking for a nail salon in Old Town Alexandria I would recommend you to go somewhere else!
If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in 8 days ago for a gel full set and gel pedicure which isn’t cheap. 8 days later 2 if my nails have already popped off. It’s safe to say I won’t be returning.
Great service and relaxing environment! I’m never disappointed!
Decent salon. A bit rough with my hands and trimming skin.
Overall it’s a nice nail salon with lots of chairs, and my mani/pedi looks nice. However, the customer service I experienced was a bit lacking. The tech I had was rather rude and rushed me through everything once I declined the numerous up-sells (spa pedicure, gel polish, eyebrow waxing). Could just be that one tech, the other techs seemed nicer. They also require all tips in cash and don’t offer an option to add it to the credit card bill. This isn’t noted anywhere on their website or in the salon.I found the color selection to be small. They also had several nearly empty bottles on the shelf that the nail tech said didn’t have enough polish in them to use, but left them on the shelf.
Will return! Clean, friendly, great job on my nails ☺
I had a great manicure and an ok pedicure. The nail color choices are quite limited, they do a good job overall, but their prices are on an expensive side.
Friendly staff and great service.
Totally impressed with the customer service and quality of work! ViVi and Mimi do a great job and I’ll never go anywhere else!
Very bad service! Manager/owner is super rude! Racist also. As I looked around They had gave every white person a bottle water and crackers, white people that were coming in after me too. They did not bother to offer us (my sister and I) any. Neither did they offered the rest of colored skin people.
Wasted my money getting a gel manicure here- lasted one week until every nail popped right off. Not chip away, they all peeled right off. I was extremely rushed by my nail tech who was obviously trying to get me in and out rather than make sure the nails set the right way. Will not be going back.
I have had many great experiences here. They provide excellent service. I love the SNS nails (powder) as it lasts even longer than gel. I tried many different salons in the Alexandria area but eventually settled here since they provided the best/longest lasting mani/pedis. Also they have online booking - which makes finding and making appointments super easy. Highly recommended.
Went in for a few services, one of which being a brazilian wax. The woman told me she wasn’t familiar with the hard wax procedure, so I suggested that she use strips, if that’s more comfortable. It went really well up until she made the decision to switch to hard wax. She let the wax dry too soon and it hardened and got stuck. I left sore, burned and without a complete brazilian. To top it off, they still had me pay for ech of the other services. I would never recommend this place!
My go to place when I lived in Alexandria, and now that I live in DC, I still travel to come here. They do a thorough job with pedicures and manicures.
Its unfortunate to say I will NEVER be going back, as there are many wonderful women working here who have performed exceptionally. However, having had the grave misfortune of having my pedicure done by the nasty manager/owner, I can no longer recommend this place. She should stick to running the place, not providing services also as she is incompetent, hurried, and rude.
Not the best servies ...they they were rude to me and my friends would not recommend to go here. They are overly priced and do not do a good job
I went today for the fourth time bc my experience has always been great. However, today was quite different ! Vivi, (sp?) the owner, did my pedicure. She sat me down. She looked at her phone to read a text, and then put her earphones in her ears and started a loud & angry sounding conversation on the phone. While on the phone she was hurried, and slamming things down. I felt extremely uncomfortable. The phone convo lasted 15 mins. !During previous visits as I am seated, I am always offered a bottle of water and delicious crackers (looked around and everyone else had both). In addition, I am ALWAYS asked if I would like to get an additional service (treatment for dry skin, a longer leg massage, etc., which costs a little more). I wanted to treat myself but felt uncomfortable at this point since she didnt offer like the ladies usually do when I go there.I told friends who go here, and they were surprised bc they like Vivi, but I noticed another bad review mentioning her rudeness below. At this point, Im not sure I will go back. Very upset and disappointed ☹️
Great service but poor quality product. Even with the gels my nails chip and peel after 3 days
