I was referred here by my therapist; I wish i hadn’t gone! I had an appointment back in January and was prescribed medication. I ran out over a week ago and spent that week just TRYING to get a hold of Sage Neuroscience. Called over 5 times; never got a response, Walgreens sent 2 faxes, never got a response. I finally had to go down there. The woman at reception was quite rude at first, but finally was able to refill my prescription. She told me it had to go through several people before my prescription would be sent to Walgreens, and didn’t know when it would be ready. I finally received word from Walgreens that it was ready, picked it up, and it’s the wrong prescription. I will never be returning to Sage Neuroscience, I had to leave them a message telling them that I wasn’t coming back, but who knows if they will ever even listen to the voicemail. I’ve never had such an unprofessional experience, especially concerning health & medication. laughable.

We were able to make the appointment after multiple attempts, and my husband was finally able to see somebody who was supposed to help him. After one appointment, I received a phone call saying that he can no longer be seen there because they no longer take our insurance. Which is false they do take it, I called back again and asked. So then I asked if I can go ahead and just pay out of pocket because he really needs to talk to somebody, and they said they dont accept that type of service I guess. Its so unfortunate reading the other reviews about how they dont answer phone calls, especially for people who need help. Most of the time it takes a lot for somebody to finally reach out and ask for help, and then to be turned away, or not even be treated like they are worth the help?? Do you even understand how damaging this is for people who are that vulnerable? Its taken months for me to be able to convince my husband to get help again. How dare you, how can you even do this, how can your business even do this to people who are so vulnerable and needing help? Its hard enough to find somebody who can take your insurance, or somebody thats willing to see you. But just to be turned down for no reason, that is so entirely unacceptable and you all should all be ashamed of yourself.

Definitely stay away from the DBT BHIOP program if you’re not willing to “drink the koolaid.” The lead facilitator will make sure you know it’s a cult, maybe even on your first day there. Once you’re there it’s pretty obvious they run it like a cult because if they don’t like you they’ll make you feel it. If you don’t fit it anywhere else, you won’t here either. I wouldn’t waste the time, heck, you probably won’t even be able to get ahold of anyone when you call.

Horrible provider, avoid at all cost!We have attempted to use this doctors office for my sons medication management with terrible results thus far.First, they rescheduled our appointment without ever talking to us. They left a message asking if they could reschedule, I called back within an hour, no one answered but I left a message saying I could NOT take the proposed new time. To my surprise, no one returned my call but instead I received an email stating the appointment changed. I had to reschedule an entire day due to this.Second, my son has his appointment and the provider agrees to continue his current medication yet never calls in the prescription. As our prescription nears its end, I call the pharmacy to discover there has been no prescription called in. So I call in to have it filled, during business hours no one answers, again, and I am left to leave a message, again. After 24hrs elapses, I have received no return call. My wife calls this time and leaves a message, again.Third, I call in, admittedly frustrated at this point, to see what is the problem, why is no one answering and not returning calls. The receptionist has a nasty attitude and is of zero help. She is unable or, more likely, unwilling to do anything or give me any explanation as to why the prescription has not been filled and why no one returns calls. This place is a joke, they will take your money and that is about it. I highly suggest any one looking for a mental healthcare provider keep looking.

Like many other reviews here, I was never able to schedule an appointment. No one answering calls and no one responding when I filled out the patient information on the website. We are currently working with another counselor so Id basically forgotten about this place until they had the audacity to send me a survey asking about the care Ive received from them. Obviously the new patient intake forms online are just a way to farm email addresses. Would happily give this place 0 stars if I could. They really need to get their act together.

This place is a JOKE.I called them 4 times, left 2 messages because their answer machine ask you to leave a message and that they will return your call, they never return my calls. I also visit their website and fill out a form to contact me, They request to fill out the initial intake paperwork so I did. Waited 10 days and nobody call me, so, I decided to stop by their office, they have multiple receptionist for different services apparently so I go to the one closer to the door, the receptionist never greeted me instead rudely she looked at me like you are bothering me.Finally we were able to communicate and I was able to do all the required paperwork, insurance, Everything and make the appointment. When I went back to my appointment nobody knew where my folder was, THEY LOST MY FOLDER. Later I contacted them for a different service they offer, talked to the program coordinator and she told me that my insurance would pay for the treatment if I get a referral from my doctor so I did. My doctor sent the referral to the fax number she had provided, I called her back she said no I haven’t receive anything. My doctor sent the referral again and so on multiple times as I been calling him that they never got it. So, my doctor gets on the phone with another person stays on the phone fax the referral while on the phone and miraculously the fax when trough. Called again and she said that neither of my insurance “two of them” will pay for the treatment. She totally miss-leaded me.These people do not care one bit about patients

After years of failure with meds and therapy and not being able too work the past 2 yrs, I came to Sage for help and interest in their Ketamean program. I thought Sage was suppose to be a place to help people. I spent TWO WEEKS calling and trying to get a call back from Annabelle (who is apparently running the program), never received a single call back. Its pretty disturbing that a company whos business is to help people, completely ignore those people looking at what could be their very last hope for help. Its no wonder the reviews about this place have gotten so low over the past few years.Anyone who is in this same position (PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, etc)...This is not a recommendation just my experience, I went to Sage for being the big company. After my experience with being ignored, I started my first treatment at Tranquility Ketamean Aug 25th.Check out some of these other places that provide this service. Theres several places and from what I found, theres doctors that care and professional.

While the receptionists are wonderful at helping and answering the phone, it feels like I have to go through a labyrinth to get a message to my doctor. I’ve had two negative experiences with medications and needed to speak to him about my reactions/how to taper off the medications, but it takes days for one of his medical assistants to get back to me, and they don’t ever have an answer for me. They say he will get back to me, but he never has. I never get to contact my doctor directly, nor has he ever contacted me. I wish there was a more direct way to get in contact with the doctors because sometimes the issue is pressing and needs attention as soon as possible. The slow response time, along with no communication with my doctor, has really made me wish I went somewhere else. Yes, the physicians are good at their jobs, but the disorganization and lack of care for their patients needs to be fixed big time.Update: he finally called me back after almost 2 weeks!

I have been seeing Dr. Stern for probably 6 years. I felt so connected with her in fact, that I moved with her from Pres to Sage. I firmly believe that without the help of Suboxone and my amazing doctor, I would not be here. I have had multiple overdoses, been in the hospital from sepsis and endocarditis due to my addiction, and generally had no hope left that I could recover. But doctor Stern saw something in me, and believed in me, despite my continued use in the beginning. She knew I was trying...she believed I could do it. Well, I did. Im 7 years clean and am now helping other people in their recoveries. I am genuinely heartbroken that Dr. Strern is retiring, but I am excited for her to go sit on a beach somewhere and enjoy the waves. 🌊 🌊 I have total faith that my next doctor will be great. I have to call multiple times a day or for 2-3 days before someone answers. They are usually nice when they do answer, but how can a medical office run this way? My experience with Sage was very positive...until the death of my mother less then three months ago. The Therapist I was seeing, (Ellen Peabody) was very good, but for reasons that were never made clear to me...I was suddenly told that a panel of other Therapists and Clinical directors, none of whom had ever done any therapy with me or really even knew me, had come up with this take it or leave it therapy plan. I would need to commit to about a half dozen things, most of which I was fine with...the last requirement however was a very expensive ($26000.00) in-patient program at a place in Santa Fe that was NOT well reviewed. I was at Sage for purely mental health issues as opposed to any substance abuse problems. I was told if I did not agree to the latter in patient program...Sage would drop me as a client. In other words our way or the highway. So basically having just lost my mom, whom I was extremely close to, meant nothing to this committee of people I didnt really even know. Sage seemed more interested in ordering me around then providing any meaningful therapy. VERY disappointing and HIGHLY unprofessional!

I have been going to Sage for a couple of years now, for quite a few different treatments to help me with my severe depression and anxiety that Ive suffered from for well over ten years. It was really within the last six months that ketamine therapy with Dr. Birkmayer and talk therapy with Nazanin Bagheri that Ive been seeing significant progress. Ketamine got me to a place mentally where I was stable enough to be receptive to therapy. Naz in particular has been a fantastic therapist, and I can honestly say that while I am still undergoing monthly ketamine treatments and I am on an SSRI, she has been the biggest contributor to my mental health. On a side note, I personally have always had a positive experience with Sages reception. Theyre always kind and ready to help make and shift around my many appointments. They make and change appointments without telling you, tell you to wait for a video visit, then ask why you werent there in person. The director said I wasnt allowed for care because I missed too many appointments that were unknowingly changed, or I spoke with someone who barely represents them. I was cleared last week to come in for an intake after I had to go to their office, fill it out, and they said wait for a call. I have calendar updates, notes, everything. Your director is obviously terrible. When your staff transfers you 4 times a call, asks you the same things, ask what happened to the forms I personally handed in.No calls. Dont go here for a PCP. Seeing one of the doctors here in person was great, although she was in and out of the room during the appointment dealing with other things as they came up. At the time I thought that was totally understandable and even a good sign that the people at this place work hard not to leave things unattended to. But I felt heard and like I was treated with mutual respect. I dont feel so good about it anymore. There was some problem with a medication I was prescribed where the prescription never reached the pharmacy, and then I had to leave town for work. Despite calling every day and asking for the prescription to be resent, or at least have a doctor or her assistant talk to me, nothing has been done. Its been a month. Work has me stuck out of town, so I cant go in person. Not that anybody asked me to. Since theyre completely ignoring me. Except for promises that someone will fix the problem or return my call the next day, which has yet to happen. No point in having good doctors if they cant keep up with patients or successfully send scripts... It seems like a bad idea to give people medications for depression with an expectation of continuing it and then abruptly take away half of it due to... Negligence? Poor communication? Low staffing? I dont know. Im pretty sad about it. I thought this place would be better than usual, turns out its worse but for different reasons. I went here because mental health and physical health intersect and I wanted to go somewhere that understands that without treating me like its a character flaw. Shady - I have been trying to get a month supply of a medication they prescribed to me for months. what do i get? a 7 day supply, that means i have to fill the prescription 4 times in a month. That adds up to way to much for a prescription. I asked the Walgreens pharmacist if its normal to have a 7 day supply of this type of medication. They said no, its unusual, but they cannot comment specifically on the practices policy (I respect that answer, very PC). I asked the Sage nurse if i could have a 30 day supply, she said no gave me some grief. But, once she gave me a 14 day supply, very nice but short lived. So i did some research and come to find out what possible reasons a company would do this. Found out that this would be normal for a Pain medication or an Opioid. My medication its for anxiety. The only conclusion that makes any sense is Sage or its doctors profit from prescriptions. I feel like this is a shady practice if true.I do understand that Sage is a company that employees individuals, and individuals can act alone. But as a company, they have some responsibility to its clients to provide the best care possible within the norms of the medical field. I have never had a problem like this with any care provider.

The Doctor is great. The office management is incredibly disorganized and unprofessional. Let me count the reasons. First of all they cancelled my wifes appointment at the last minute after she had waited over a month for it. This left her high and dry regarding her medication (which no one would refill). They made a token effort to find her another provider but were ultimately unsuccessful. Next, I was prescribed a new medication and given an appointment a week later to follow up on it. My insurance wouldnt fill the prescription without a pre-authorization form which they (the insurance) immediately sent. I called and left a message the same day to explain the situation. They didnt respond to the form or to my message. Then on the morning of the appointment right when the office opened I called to tell them that the appointment would be useless. I couldnt take the medication because they never responded, so there would be nothing to discuss. I was told to come in anyway or I would get a cancellation fee. Im interested to know what they intended to bill my insurance for. Did they intend to lie and pretend to have done something. The whole thing seems highly unethical.Unfortunately I had to call over a dozen doctors in order to find this one who would take new patients. Maybe this is as good as it gets in Albuquerque or maybe theyre the only ones not full for a reason. Either way Im highly disappointed.

I have been a patient at Sage Neuroscience since 2013. Before Sage, I was caught up in the system, bounced around from clinic to clinic, practitioner to practitioner, with a lot of inconsistencies in my treatment and mediation management in between. I finally found a great PCP whose care was short-lived as the doctor retired but before she did she advocate Sage and referred me to Sage during the summer of 2013. Though theyve made changes since then, theyve always strived to make changes for the betterment of their patients. Ive worked with Dr. Sutter as well as many other providers, Nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and now their primary care clinic. Dr. Sutter is a leading expert on medications such as Suboxone. He also uses cutting edge therapy such as transcranial magnetic stimulation in treatment of medication resistant depression. Though its changing, the stigma towards mental is staggering but Sage and its staff are on the frontlines in that battle. This my experience as a patient- Ive found that everyone at Sage has always treated me with the upmost courtesy and respect; doing whatever they can to help meet my needs despite their extremely large number of patients. Folks at the front desks are very kind. Sometimes I had shown up in their clinic during EXTREME panic attacks, without an appointment, yet they always did everything in their power to accommodate me. I urge people whom feel the need to write negative reviews; please, reach out to them. They are constantly trying to progress to make Sage run as smoothly as possible for both the staff& the patients. Ive always found the staff to be professional and kind. Positive criticisms help healthcare clinics to strive for the standards they claim or hope to assert and to me, Sage is always striving to provide the best care for their patients. Ive seen a lot of staff come & go through the years but Ive grown close to most everyone there while they were there. Ive now been working with Dr. Gary Borrell as my primary psychiatrist since 2016. Im in tears trying to find the words to praise this doctor. This doctor has given me my life back. Before him, I was nearly a total recluse. Im now back in school & planning a career in music therapy. Dr. Borrell gave me the tools & support system to help empower me; giving me the means to cope while helping me find my gratitude for and towards life in the moment & hope for the future. I never had such an amazing rapport w/a doctor as I do w/ Dr. Borrell. He saved my life. He listens very well w/his undivided attention. He is a pinnacle example of the kind of patient-person-centered care in which all doctors should strive for. I have the upmost gratitude and respect for him while he still keeps the doctor-patient relationship very professional. His medical assistant Kayla, who always goes out of her way to help me, is also wonderful. I hope to help people as the people at Sage have helped me. The intake process can be overwhelming and frustrating when youre suffering, believe me I understand that but try to hold on if you are a new patient because Sage offers outstanding outpatient care.

So disappointing that a clinic with such a huge opportunity is wasting it. Cannot get anyone to EVER answer the phones and when they do they are extremely rude. The only good receptionist there is Brian and the rest dont care. Have left MULTIPLE messages with the primary care side to schedule with my PCP with time after time no returned call. Not like you can call and talk to anyone on the PCP side at all. You have to drive to the clinic to be able to speak to anyone. Same goes with scheduling with your providers. Call and call to constantly leave messages to get into therapy as well as psychiatry, left one on 5-20-19 the second call on 5-31-19 and the most recent 6-5-19 with STILL no returned call. So sad that there arent other integrated clinics in town. Ive exhausted my efforts with this place and have become MORE symptomatic while still not being able to see my therapist. Ive spoken with office managers, on multiple occasions whom do not care about anything the staff is doing. Ive come in to receptionists painting their nails/ saying Im not answering another one of these calls / to sitting at the desk ignoring you texting. This is the type of behavior that makes clinics like this fail. Not like this review is going to make a difference either. Yet another patient falling through the cracks due to the lack of care from Sage staff. Wonder how many patients itll take until someone actually listens. I am only still a patient because at least the providers care. Sucks the staff gives them the bad name and make it impossible to get in.

As someone who works in the field, I have had positive experiences with Sage over the years. Lana Reihani, Sarah Skoterro and Bob Barnes have all provided professional, courteous and appropriate care to those we have referred. No one is perfect 100% of the time. However, if I have ever had an issue, they have been responsive and courteous in helping to find resolutions. If Sage has not been a good fit for certain people, they have always offered appropriate referrals.

I would not be where I am today without the support of the incredible, honest and kind hearted people at Sage. Coming into the Intensive Outpatient Program for alcohol addiction, I was scared and fragile. Everyone, from the receptionist, intake personnel, doctors and IOP therapist, all carefully listened and guided me through a difficult process. Bob, one of the primary clinicians/IOP therapist, has been so genuine in truly wanting the best for my well being. I cant thank them enough for the environment they have created and for the life they have given back to me. My sobriety is richer than ever because of them. They provide invaluable information and tools around substance use and ways to reach out for support. I would and have recommended many people to seek treatment here.

I called this place this past Summer (2018) in order to schedule a new patient consultation, and was told I would be put on a wait list. This is all well and fine, as I understand these sorts of facilities can sometimes face an overdraft of patients. The problem is that Sage never once reached out or contacted me again. This irresponsible lack of care for people trying to secure help for dire mental instability is, blatantly, pathetic. I cannot speak for existing patient treatment, although it seems the other reviews on here dont speak too highly either. Steer clear, folks.

I dont know how well they work. Be aware that their current wait time for an appointment is 6-8 weeks. This is something you should be aware of before you even fill out the paperwork. Today I am 141 days sober. I will be graduating Sage IOP in a couple weeks. I am writing this review with the hope that someone out there that is searching for help will consider SAGE NEUROSCIENCE. It has been an incredible experience for me. Because of Sage I have had a lot of firsts that I haven’t had in years, my first sober Halloween, my first sober Thanksgiving, my first sober Christmas and my first sober New Year and I will continue on this path in my sobriety. I have learned to deal with life’s problems that I haven’t been able to in years. I have gained confidence in myself that I have never had. I have learned that I have genuine support at Sage. One of the other wonderful things about Sage is the after care they provide.Thank you to my counselor Michael, Dr. Stern and the incredible staff but most of all Bob Barnes, who understood the darkness that had consumed me and helped me get the tools I needed to climb out. From the bottom of my heart I thank you.-Rose Sanchez

Great providers, but you will have a VERY hard time seeing one since their front office staff is unable to remember to schedule you in their system when you call to set an appointment. They are notorious for that apparently. At first I thought they just had a computer problem, but after reading all the other reviews, it would appear they like to get high in the parking lot. I dont care what people do after work or on the weekend, but when you get high in the parking lot during lunch and then screw up patient appointments and act like it is our fault, thats not cool. No one likes to drive all the way to the doctor to be told we dont have an appointment when we clearly remember making the appointment. We dont get high, you do. We the patients remember our appointments, but apparently you all at Sage dont since you like to get high at work.

The providers I have seen have been amazing. My complaint is with the front desk. I have had an issue twice where I made an appointment with them, only for them not to schedule them. I called to double check on when I have an appointment this month because I did make one and they said they had nothing scheduled for me. This happened twice now! Also they are very inconsistent with calling with a reminder like most medical offices do. They need to get their act together.

Excellent personable staff and the smartest most professional providers. They have all around health care services i.e. I have been able to get my PCP and psychology appointments at their clinic as well as starting our daughter for psychological appointment. Love that they are getting a pharmacy soon! Also for treatment resistant depression they have a new non medicine Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation that is covered by some insurance, not all but, I believe it is well worth the procured expenses. This is a great place with the most up to date medical knowledge I have recommended to family and friends and will continue to do so.

I have used Sages services for IOP, one on one therapy, and have now entered their after-care group based on my amazing experiences thus far. My wifes family has used their services for a while now as well. The IOP that I took was an experience that I will take with me for life. It was directed by Bob Barnes, who has been nothing short of incredible. He has a wealth of professional knowledge, along with a deep well of personal experience that he can draw from in order to help you through this tough period in your life. If you can come in every day with an open mind and listen attentively, then I am certain you will take skills out of his class that will help you and your family attain the peace of mind through a life of sobriety. The class will teach you about addiction(the different models), tools to help navigate the day to day work that is required out of overcoming addiction (support groups, meditation, scheduling, recognizing behaviors before they become problems), and that a life beyond drugs is very possible and much happier than you could imagine. I would like to also mention Michael, who ran the other IOP group. He was an amazing individual as well with decades of personal experience and a deep professional knowledge. His positive manner and attitude that you dont have to go back to your old life was nothing short of inspirational. He ran our IOP class a few times when Bob was unable to be there, and Im glad he did as I got to know him a little, and experience the energy he brings to his class. Ive used services at other places in Albuquerque, and I have to say that Bob and Michael are something very unique and special in the treatment community. I would also like to mention the very great people Stephanie, Marie, and Sarah. All have helped me or continue to help me to this day. Sarah was kind enough to take time out of her, assuredly, busy day and assist me with a difficult matter when I started at Sage. Her kindness, knowledge, and help were how I knew I was about to experience something great if I showed up and did the work I needed to. These people here are great, from the front desk to the very top. Do yourself a favor, if you are in need of help, if you want a change in your life, go here. That being said, you have to show up, you have a lot of work to do yourself. It can be a complete life changing experience if you put in the work with the tools they give you! I know I have had a complete change of self and I wont forget how much these people at Sage gave to me. If you are reading this far, just give them a call. And thank you to everyone at Sage, keep up the great work.

I just got off the phone with the person on call. I explained to her that I was tapering off my antidepressant Lexapro as I feel I no longer need to take the medication. It has affected my personality, my family and my whole well-being. I explained this to her, being that I believe Im having withdrawal symptoms. She stated that she couldnt help me and that this line was for medication emergencies only. I advised her that the last time I called the on call they advised on what I should do. She also stated that I may want to get back on the medication. Well its urgent to me, Im light headed, dizzy, nauseous, feels like I have a fever, my right eye is twitching and like Im gonna pass out. I FEEL HORRIBLE!!! She was very rude and unprofessional as she stated that I was calling late which it was just after 11 pm. She didnt have any compassion for helping me, she just wanted to get off the phone. I then asked for her name and it was my NP Jana Weisborn. I told her that she shouldnt be the on call person if shes going to act that way and that I would be letting the office manager know about this. I then advised her that Ive been calling and leaving messages, but havent heard back yet. She stated that she hasnt received any messages/calls until now. Im very disgusted on how she treated me and dont care to meet with her. Im discontinuing my care at Sage Neuroscience. Remember Im the patient, have some empathy and compassion for helping people.

This is one of the only integrative healthcare clinics in the state, which means that you get coordinated care by having your doctor, psychiatrist, and counsellor in the same building. This is an invaluable and very progressive service that I highly support. I have been in the DBT program since it started, and at first it was rough. There was no transparency or ownership of mistakes and inconsistencies by the facilitators and it wasnt clear until later that this was because the program protocols were not clearly set up at that time, which negatively impacted me and others. However, over time the program improved and counsellors and facilitators and interns were recruited and it functions in a better capacity. The front desk staff are friendly and sweet, the doctors are more compassionate and understanding than regular GPs because they work with mental health populations, and the diversity and depth of services offered here are unparalleled. I see Andres for individual session and he is the best therapist I have ever had, bar none, and thats after trying many different counsellors and services around Albuquerque. People here are incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, caring, and effective at what they do in spite of their flaws and mistakes. The DBT and IOP programs have really helped people to save their lives and get better in a long term way and I am so glad I ended up here in spite of the difficulties. Mindfulness based therapy has saved my life, and I support this place and what its trying to do. I also noticed they added a community counseling program for low income people to be seen with the interns under supervision like they do at UNM Manzanita, and the interns are incredible and insightful people. There is a long waiting list though because they see a LOT of clients, so scheduling can be a limitation.10/10 still recommend this place to anyone seeking counselling, including DBT.

Sage is without a doubt the BEST mental health clinic in the state of New Mexico!I have been receiving services there for over a year now, and I have made more progress than ever before. The services that this clinic provides are overall top quality and above the standards of any other clinic I have visited, and I have been to ten different mental health clinics/providers before, therefore my comparison is in no way passionate but factual. My providers at Sage are Lana, Dr. Sutter, Andres, and Lesley. The services I receive include individual therapy, medication, DBT classes, and processing therapy. I have benefited tremendously from the combination of these services, however the one that has made an INCREDIBLE DIFFERENCE in my life has been individual therapy with Lana.Lana R. is in not a typical therapist; she is passionate about her job! She is highly qualified, extremely smart, and thankfully, VERY patient. She is Sages finest!! :)I suffer from PTSD and have had a hard time and every time I have fail, Sage and specially Lana have been there to help me get up, dust off, and keep going; trying to decrease the suffering and continue to have a good quality of life despite my pain. I keep going back because Sage has become one of, if not the safest place in my environment. I feel safe, helped, understood, and more importantly listened to. The providers here are very patient and understanding, I recommend this clinic with no hesitation whatsoever and I wish other mental health places could follow their model.Thank you!!!
