Good sized gym with all the equipment you need, friendly staff, clean, and not overcrowded even during peak hours. I came here on an unexpected one-night stop in Albuquerque while my hotel gym was closed, and they recommended we come here. Definitely recommend especially if you just need a short-term pass.
This gym has be very understanding with me during the last year. They encouraged me to place my membership on hiatus when I had a hardship due to the pandemic. Upon my return, things are cleaner than ever, and the group classes are socially distanced. I can’t wait until Downtown is re-opened!
We have the family plan and enjoy it!!! Always clean and staff is wonderful.
Lots of space and equipment here
One of the shadiest clubs Ive ever dealt with. Corporate is complete snakes and lied about policies to try to bill me for services not rendered. Stay as far as you can away from this place
I returned today after taking two months off due to the Covid pandemic. I must say that it felt good to see my ole friends and to finally exercise my body. BUT, I was turned off by the careless display of some people on the exercise floor. This group of people were exercising and moving on without cleaning their equipment and had, at times, their masks off while talking to each other. Another had his mask below his nose. I left and hope this isnt a common occurrence.
The young girl that was working the front desk in the day time was so professional, and kind. I didnt bring a water bottle, but she was kind enough to find one for me and bring it to me on the floor. It was really a great way to start off the first day at the club. So thank you!!!
Very calm, great place to workout with less people
FINANCIAL COERCION. This place should be closed. Management promised a deal, during week sale, singed under promised agreement in 10/2020 - now billing crazy monthly charges and sending me to collections. Finance office and Gym are completely disconnect. No customer service, available. THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES HAVE BETTER CUSTOMER CARE AND SUPPORT. Wish I never stepped into this place. AVOID IT, YOU LL REGRET IT.
Great Facility for all your work out needs.
Initially, I enjoyed this gym. I liked all the amenities it offers and well supplied locker rooms. I had no problem paying my membership fee every month as I agreed to do and did so without any issues for couple years. I recently became a student and was no longer able to keep up with membership fee so I decided to cancel. They mentioned I still had to pay an additional month. Thus, I talked to management accounting, whom I had to email, rather than talk on the phone. After explaining my situation they would not let me out of this portion of the contract even though they have complete authority to change the contract. Why Im give this two stars, not because they didnt oblige my request, but the manager I spoke with STOPPED talking to me, with no goodbye, thank you, how else can we help. Nothing. Ive never felt more dismissed especially as a faithful paying customer. Very disappointed with this company. In response to owner. Account was under my maiden name (Brull).
Written confirmation of COVID-19 cancelation means nothing. They put me in collections today with no notice. Do not join this gym.Response to Owner: other than working with George (whos amazing), I have had no outreach from you. No letter or phone calls - other than to sell me a new membership. And, yes, my cancelation submitted via your form on March 29th was COVID related. So, this is factually inaccurate and I have everything in writing. You are welcome to call me to resolve this, but you havent (as of 11/2/2020).
Well appointed front lobby. Friendly staff. Clean facility.
Its fine
I love this gym! I first discovered it in 2013, and I fell in love with the gyms extra amenities. It has a pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, and a steam room (a private steam room is located in the womens locker room, which is so nice because men are not allowed!). Those amenities make me feel like I go to the spa instead of the gym every time I visit. In fact, the steam room has already cleared up and brightened my skins complexion! No wonder multiple celebrities swear by steam room showers. In addition, The gym provides fresh towels and daily lockers that have actual locks on them. You do not have to bring your own locks. The facilities are clean and the equipment is in good shape. Their water is infused with lemons and oranges! Plus, the staff is super friendly!I do not know why people have written such poor reviews about this place. For me, its the best gym in town! Ive been to Planet Fitness and Defined Fitness and some boutique gyms, but they do not compare to Sports and Wellness. Check this place out if you care about your health and wellbeing. Your money will be well spent.
Squeaky clean, machine availabilty is excellent, staff is helpful and friendly!
One thing I absolutely love about Midtown sports and wellness is all the great things they have to offer. Their aquatics program is great, theyre wonderful swim instructors helped my son improve greatly, he had a blast, theyre prices were cheaper than the local fish factory, and they worked with my schedule immediately. Would recommend if you are interested in lessons or swim training any time of the year.
Love this place. They have a family changing room which is a must for me as I have a son on the spectrum. The pool is the best and my son and I love the basketball court. The staff is awesome, especially Nell and Bo, and very friendly. Just a great workout experience.
I am very disappointed in Midtown. I was a member years ago and as a teacher I received a good discount. As a senior I joined again. I paid$90 per month and was told that was a discounted amount. I joined specifically for water aerobics with Wendy. After several months I was told the bubble over the pool was not to be replaced. There are 58 water aerobics people in our group, mainly older women including myself. For physical reasons we are not able to do other exercises. We were told this was for cost reasons. Now we are told it is for the greater good (of whom I do not know). After writing Jim Gay and Ed Williams the owner of Sports and Wellness at the Welbridge Corp. In Denver, I have had no response.Perhaps older women exercising in your pool does not give the gym a good image. Maybe just those body builders are the image you want.Anyway, you have lost my membership. You have also lost your best instructor, Wendy. I think many of our group will be moving to Defined Fitness.
Security huge issue. Multiple vehicles broken into daily. Midtown has done nothing to help increase security. Been a member 20 yrs. staff rude, unhelpful and likely part of theft ring. Don’t go unless u want your car broken into and valuables stolen. Midtown will do nothing to help. Showers have been updated for 30 yrs, but monthly membership has increased. This is a known police crime spot!!!!!! Midtown does nothing to help prevent theft.
Probably the most upbeat staff of all the sports and wellness locations. Considerate people willing to help.
3 word review. Outdated, Small, Stinky
I have been a long time member of this gym and when I read all the negative reviews I just shake my head. This is overall a great gym. Nice, well maintained equipment, great people, and a LOT of other amenities, like hot tub, hot and dry sauna, pool, full basketball gym, racquetball and more. Is it ALWAYS perfect? No. But this is definitely a 5 star health club.
It truly boils down to geographical convenience for me. There are two S&W locations within 4 miles of my house where there are 3 Defined fitness within 9 miles of my area of convenience. Sure, the hot tub closes all the time and the prissiness of the staff is beyond comprehension, but one must evaluate from their current position the advantages and disadvantages of accessibility in relation to location.I like that theres lemon in S&Ws water... there I said it.
I have been enjoying my Sports and Wellness membership for some time now. I am really surprised by the low reviews! This sports club is great! I chose sports and wellness because I have two children and their childcare hours are the best in town. I like this location because it is close to my home, the staff is friendly (for the most part) and if I get in at the right time I can usually get the equipment I want. If I ask the trainers a question about how to use something they are always friendly and kind. There was a mistake with billing and my account manager went above and beyond to correct the problem. I wish I could afford to hire a trainer! They have so many great trainers, it would be hard to choose one!
This is great place that offers everything you want and pay for. Love the evening hours not to many stalkers like other gyms. Only thing I dont like is the excessive nudity in the locker rooms!!! Towels everywhere and yet they just walk around as if you are in a nature walk😳
Account management is a joke. They make false promises, pass you around, and ignore your concerns. Tyler Nunez (Personal Trainer) is great though. She maintained professionalism and provided help when I needed it. I highly recommend her.
The gym was always kept clean and the staff was usually helpful, but when I canceled my membership that’s where this review comes from. Even if you cancel a month in advance, they’ll still charge you for another month regardless. Makes no sense, I know. Bad business at the corporate level.
Family friendly, great staff, Awesome trainer (Lillian), lots of class choices, clean and fun! Our family loves S&W! We can also go to any location, they are all a little different lay out but awesome. Try before you buy is always recommend by them.
I love how attentive some of the staff are and how clean the place is when those workers are on shift. Also love all the BBQs and events like fitapalooza. Also they offer full service locker rooms and towels. Something no other gym does. Worth the money to avoid Meatheads and thugs at defined and chuze. Make great friendships along the way. Go midtown.
Please don’t join unless you plan on staying there a long time because they break contacts and will continue charging your card. The environment is good but the fact that they can’t agree to their own contacts ruins it.
I love this gym - staff is great, I have a wonderful trainer (Melanie), Nell is amazing, really enjoying everyone and the positive atmosphere. Will be sending my daughter to their summer program. Love it.
This is a great gym. I have used the personal trainers and find them to be well trained, attentive. The overall cleanliness is very good, and the equipment is in good working order. I highly recommend Midtown.
Not a gym! Its a health club that offers much more than a simple gym! Been a member for years.. If you dont like a community that cares about you and wants you to meet your fitness and health goals, then dont go to Midtown! If you want cleanliness, sincerity, and amenities then DO!
Don’t waste your money. The club looks nice at first, but the equipment is always broken, there is never any hot water in the showers, the locker rooms are generally a mess, and most of all their customer service is atrocious. It’s simply not worth the money, and if you do join they will make sure they extort an extra two months dues from you when you want to cancel.
If I could give this place zero I would.. don’t join their membership unless you ready to deal with their continuous billing.. after trying for several months to cancel my membership I finally got too but one thing they don’t tell you and was not mentioned in my contract is you have to pay for the additional month after you cancel with them. When I signed up I was told if I moved out of the area I wouldn’t have to pay a fee and my membership cancellation would be processed immediately... nope.. i have been living in Missouri for some time and was still getting billed over the summer. Technically they wanted me to pay although I live no where near a sports and wellness facility. Mind you I’m a graduate student so I’m not really pleased to pay (almost a 100 a month) for something I’m not going to use. Save your money and go to planet fitness or elsewhere.
Its good, its just that the basketball rims arent even at all. The rim to your right is bent somewhat to its left, and the rim to your right is also bent to its right.
Was in town for the USA Boxing tournament and they have outstanding customer service. The facilities were clean and complete. It was an excellent home away from home.
Great facilities, convenient and well kept! I highly recommend a membership here.
1.The pool is never warm enough.2.There are robberies every week that management tries to down play so that interested members wont know and so current members wont cancel their membership.3.There are only two cameras outdoors in a heavily busy parking lot.4.After new membership begins, 3 months into it membership rates slowly increase every single month with no explanation from the general manager.5. The hot tub is unreliable when it comes to the pressure of the jets and the temperature.
It’s fine. They finally got the pool working in the winter and there is plenty of equipment available here. Some of the staff are really great. - updated - the pool has been a wreck most of the winter. They can’t keep the temp up and when you call to ask what the temp is, they usually tell you 4 or 5 degrees higher than it actually is when you get out to go swim. It sure seems like they’re not covering it and not keeping the heater set appropriately. I guess repairing the bubble was too expensive and now they don’t want to pay to heat the pool and cover it. 70-72 degrees is pretty chilly.
I’ve had a membership here for months now and Ive had many problems with accounting management. They never helped me with problems I️ had with my membership and always beat around the bush. They kept racking up my account when they couldn’t communicate certain things they did with my account. The “Manager of accounting” was also no help. This club is very money hungry and they don’t care whatsoever about any problems you have, they just want the money. I️ will no longer be going to this gym.
Im disappointed that Midtown no longer covers their swimming pool in the winter, especially as this is the reason I joined. However, the cherry on the sundae is the cancellation policy for our month-to-month membership; more than sixty days notice is required, as I discovered when I tried to cancel. I read the contract before signing up, and this is not made at all clear -- for obvious reasons! I also had difficulty locating someone with the authority to accept my cancellation; it took two visits to the gym itself, and the phone number listed on the website is just the front desk at one of their Denver-area clubs. It was a pretty nifty little shell game! As a federal employee who has been hurt by the government shutdown, I asked management to consider waiving some of the fees associated with two more months worth of dues. Silly me! When Mike Baker, the GM, finally got back to me, he told me in essence that the club is willing to delay taking my money -- but take it they will! Im chalking up the $300 in dues that I still owe them as a life lesson, but I feel as though Im dealing with car salesmen. Buyer beware!!!
This gym can get really crowded and sometimes things take a long time to fix such as machines and hot tubs, but it is because it is very popular. It has everything you would need..a great pool, hot tub, sauna and great work out space and yoga classes which i really love.
Welcome to the ghetto. I have been a member since 2011. The other Sports and wellness locations are much much nicer. This one is overcrowded. They just want to sell more and more memberships for the $$. If you are considering a membership at this location go during the peak hours and see what it is like. I go during non peak hours, mid morning, and still have to wait to use equipment. The mens showers are pretty disgusting. They arent interested in maintaining the facility or equipment,, just making more $$. The younger trainers here are very arrogant, for the most part, and consider you an inconvenience in THEIR gym. If you work out in the aerobic area, treadmills and bikes, prepare to listen to gangster rap coming from the basketball court. I have to crank my own music earphones way up to drown it out.So the astute reader may be asking why the heck do I go here. It is one of the few places I can play racquet ball. I also like some of the classes here. It is also at a very convenient location for me. If I stop playing racquet ball I will definitely find a better and more affordable gym. This used to be a really nice upscale facility, no more.
The staff is friendly and helpful when needed. The environment is great being that everyone is there working out hard. Motivates me to do the same everytime Im there.
My contract was fulfilled 6 years ago. I got free membership at Defined Fitness, so cancelled my $126 per month membership at Sports and Wellness on Feb. 4. I was told I not only had to pay for February but also for March. This was small print in the contract I signed 8 years ago. No justification, just a money grab. Shame on them for this.
Terribly run. Have personally witnessed sexual harassment being brought up to management who, time and again, have blown off this issue, creating a space that feels unsafe. The machines are mediocre and poorly maintained and there are only two small mats for stretching-something that has me questioning why this is the most expensive gym in Albuquerque. Staff are nice, but overall it is an overpriced experience and a negative environment.
PLEASE READ BEFORE JOINING: Seems nice enough at first glance HOWEVER - the weight room / cardio / useful areas are maybe 1/3rd of the club - the rest is wasted space. Those areas are insanely busy. Want a bench press - cool only two in the whole facility all in use. Good luck trying to find clips or the correct weights in the heap. The machines are constantly broken - most often the steam room in the locker room. Ah the locker room - the never ending hunt to MAYBE find a locker and the finishes of a 1950s middle school. All for the bargain price of $95 per month and YOU must give 60 days heads up of cancellation in which you will pay for those two months. The parking lot is brimming with crime; at least two cars broken into per day! The two managers Mike Baker and Bova embody dumb and dumber. One is a bigger joker than the next and are very unhelpful and I speculate drink on the job. Heads up Chuze opened down the road - half the price and 10 times the quality and flexibility.
One of the best places to workout the staff is super friendly and the facilities are very clean.
This institution apparently does not respect or appreciate its members and thinks nothing of disbanding or deleting well attended and long standing classes. Would not recommend membership
Great Equipment, Locations and amenities However, Very Expensive for a secure locker room and membership it was over 120.00 AND DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK INFO you will have to fight and fight even after your contract is up to get them to stop debiting your account. Watched a friend go though this now. Finished my 12 of months and they wanted a 13th payment. Next I am filing a claim of 4 unauthorized payments with Wells Fargo a total of 6 additional payments I got nailed by not watching my checking account. And my wifes car was broken into, and Ive personally seen another car window smashed
I am very disappointed with Sports and Wellness. All locations are filthy. Black mold in the showers and on shower curtains, vents coated with thick dust, sweat drips and drink spills on the floor and the equipment never gets cleaned. The only locations where I have seen staff cleaning in the fitness areas are Highpoint and DelNorte. However, even though these locations have employees cleaning the fitness areas, what gets missed at every location is the locker room. Cleaning staff are in the locker rooms often, but they dont do anything other than replace towels and fill soap. Perhaps they could also mop the bathrooms and spray down showers with bleach at least once during the day.DelNortes locker room smells like dirty feet. Perhaps a regular schedule of shampooing the carpet would help. Midtown and Riverpoints showers are lined with mold and black/green slime. The water temperature at Riverpoint is dangerous. The showers fluctuate temperature based on water usage in other parts of the locker room so you can go from a comfortable water temp to scalding to cold all within a few seconds. This can be repaired, but they are too cheap to do it.Another area of concern is equipment maintenance. It takes weeks for equipment to be repaired. When the same pieces of equipment routinely breakdown, its time to replace it.More consistency and attention to detail among the clubs would be appreciated. New equipment should be a priority for all locations. The downtown weight room can really use an update. It looks like the downtown location gets all the hand downs from other locations.Sports and Wellness promotes themselves as a premier, country club type facility and they charge accordingly. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and upkeep of their facilities and equipment tell a different story.I have brought these concerns to the management at each location and nothing changes. They dont care about members, just your money.
Ive lost 40 pounds in 5 months doing Body Pump and dieting. Special thanks to Carol Rivera, Margeaux Peters and Rachel Luna for such an intense workout.
Still the best gym
I love the gym but the basketball court is to small they need to add more
This club is the local hub for racket sports, the weight room is mediocre, and the scheduled classes are not as frequent or numerous as Defined. Justin, the GM, is a big jerk. He does not treat the club members and employees with respect. He has the people and management skills of a bully. I would not recommend anyone joining this club with Justin at the helm.
OMG! They remodeled the lobby, but it looks like a cheap, plastic McDonalds. They painted it bright red and yellow! They changed the floor to like a wood training floor and its SUPER slippery when wet. The chairs are really small and uncomfortable. It does look fresh and clean but so out of place compared to the rest of the club. They put lipstick on a pig, its just the wrong shade! The club is run-down and is in desperate need of a revamp. There are scuffs and dents on the walls, dents in trash cans, scuffs in the chairs, the furniture just looks old and used. There is no design with old vinyl chairs and blue carpet. The weight room floor is way too crowded with too many machines. The group ex room has HUGE cracks in the walls and ceilings. And when it rains, there are leaks everywhere. You cant walk anywhere without stepping over a bucket. And there is something ALWAYS wrong or broken with the cardio equipment. I get that things break, but maybe investing in newer cardio equipment that can handle the use would be a good upgrade. And dont get me started on the SHOWERS! They did this whole ugly remodel in the lobby but the shower stalls are faded yellow plastic with rusty hinges and moldy grout!? The rest of the locker room is actually ok with hotel towels and amenities but the shower area is way outdated and something you would find in a 70s community center. The rate is OVER $100 per month!! I moved to Albuquerque from other cities, small and large. I always belong to a gym and gyms in other cities are bigger, way nicer, more modern and MUCH cheaper!Sports and Wellness has nice amenities but the building is way out dated and its overpriced. Shop your choices before making a decision. There are other gyms in town with the same stuff, newer and less expensive.
This place is garbage and only wants your money. The weights are always in use by people on there phones. The only time I tried to play basketball some guy and kid came in spouting that they have the gym at this time all the time. Staff didnt care when i complained. I went back in to use half of the court and the older guy went out and complained and had me removed. To top it off, I had to move out of state and they charged me $250 for cancelling my membership.
Im very disappointed with this place. It seems like they have some very skilled scammers working here. I opened up a gym membership here in April and long story short, one of the managers committed health insurance fraud on mine and another guys account, (who called me threatening me thinking I committed fraud when really it was the company) and even altered my drivers license and information, and according to another manager named Carolyn Montiel We werent the only people affected. It was really unfortunate because i was very excited to come here and join, just to get slapped in the face and find out that I got frauded, my information violated, and sent out by the company. I spoke with everyone in management up into a corporate office in Colorado, and not ONCE did I get an apology from anyone of those people, much less an acknowledgement of sympathy from what had happened. It was actually the opposite and I was ignored, even after multiple calls and getting lied to by the staff in the front. I finally got a call back a week and a half later from the GM at midtown, and his sorry ass response to me was so... what do you want us to do for you? I was very upset and told him to refund my money and Ill tell u what they were very smart to do that. Most people pay top dollar for a membership at these clubs and speak very highly of them but I see nothing but a bunch of frauds and extremely rude careless and reckless people, especially when their employees are stealing identities and committing insurance fraud. They put up a good front but this company down to most of its employees are extremely questionable, down to what happened to how it was all handled. I just hope it hasnt already happened to someone else and they have no idea to this day, because people work too hard for their health insurance coverage.
Withdraws more money then the contract states, unlike Defined fitness who returns the money within seconds dpirts and wellness say theyll credit your account for the next month. But doesnt! Theyre all thiefs, my whole family warned me about the over drafts but like an idiot I ignored them.
Once again...no one to open at Sports and Wellness...now 7:10. Basically, you can never count on them opening on time on the weekends...and I pay for this?
I went in January to midtown sports and wellness to be a new member and the frontdesk supervisor briahnna sedillo was condescending when I was asking questions that seemed basic but were my priority if I was going to sign up for $80 a month.Their were no sales reps at the time that she said usually take care of new members, but needless to say she is definitely not the person to do so.Also, she seemed to lack confidence in herself, she didnt seem to really know the details of the gym.Paying that much money for people that cant even answer question about the gym is exemplary of someone who doesnt care about their job. I wasnt about to signup with this experience.I decided to go with orange theory fitness. A way better experience than midtown sports and wellness. Its worth spending money when the people at the business actually no what they are talking about.
Second time in one month the Center opened over 20 minutes late. I missed my 9 am appointment b cause of this. How am I going to be compensated?
Gym is good, BUT... beware the dreaded CONTRACT. Heres what they dont tell you and youre probably going to miss in the contract:They require 30 day notice to cancel your membership. But not just 30 days... If you cancel on July 2, you are going to be paying through the end of August. Some BS about their 30 day billing cycle. So you really are going to pay them for 2 months longer than you use the gym.And since this IS the most expensive gym in town (our bill was over $200 a month), paying for an extra two months when you want to cancel is some pretty shady crapola!A call to their management company (Wellbridge) was answered with well, you signed the contract...As always, caveat emptor because these guys are crooks.
Such a terrible waste of a business w great potential.
I came in from California wanted to get a quick workout in and had a great experience great equipment and a nice dry sauna. Sara was the front desk person and she couldnt have been more friendly.
Great place to be
Not getting my business Sales person Liz, displayed uninviting attitude and offered zero transparency in regards to options and pricing over the phone. Felt like a car deal!
The location is great, but so many machines are broken (TVs, belts, or fans not working, some even have electrical problems so they shock you!) ...they dont seem to care much about the clientele at this location.
Completely awful the just want your money I have recived 3 unexpected charges. I was told they were taking 15 of my bill so my bill was only $50 I had $57 on my bank account and I was charged with a $25 late fee so instead of being charged $50 I was charged $90. I was homeless as a teenager fir a few weeks (because I was being a stubern teen who was acting dumb) and I had $100 to eat for the next two weeks I had all my bills paid from mid town bit the chared me at the beging of the month when they know I always pay at the end of the month so I called furious and they basicly told my tough luck piss off call corprit which was closed for 4 day due to the Holliday weekend so they dont give a crap about you health or wellness just your wallet
If you ask me, this is an overpriced and a mediocre sports club. I am happy I just came to try this facility out before making the mistake of joining.
I was trying to try it out so I signed up for a 3 free day pass online so they called me on my phone to come in and Activate my free pass!!! So I went to the place and I didn’t get a free pass she said I was $89 for a month and $25 a day!!!!!
Worst sports and wellness location in the city. Trainers are disrespectful and so undertrained and not knowledgable, they put clients and members in danger, which Ive witnessed first hand. After several complaints were ignored I dropped my membership entirely because I lost so much respect for this company. Worst trainer: Maygann Duran. Wouldnt recommend this trainer to my worst enemy. Waste of time and money, shes careless, arrogant and completely ignorant in the field of nutrition and fitness.
They allow and condone dropping weights and yelling warcrys in the gym, actually it is mostly the staff making all the noise. Personal trainers take up huge areas of the gym for 1-3 clients during busy hours and aggressively hit on girls who are working out. The lockers have been redone and are pretty nice however, the nudity is gratuitous. The worst offenders include the guys (more than one) who furiously scrub their genitals in the shower with the curtain open and trying to make eye contact with everyone, the guys who uses the hair drier to dry their pubic hair for 5 min (after 1 min you are just having fun), and that one guy who takes glorious naked naps on the bench with his hands folded behind his head snoring like a train. Racket ball courts apparently cant be reserved unless you pay extra on top of the already unreasonable monthly dues.Sounds pretty bad but the worst part of S&W is dealing the Wellbridge corporate office which is who you have to talk to if you want to do anything other than sign-up. It started when the card used for automatic withdraw expired and required me to update the info which only the expiration date had changed. So the next month there is a $25 NSF fee which I later learned meant non-sufficient funds. But the first time I called I was told it is a normal charge and is probably from adding a person to the account. This charge kept coming so I called again and this time was told the the card declines the charge on the 1st of the month and when they try again on the 18th it goes through. They were charging the old card on the 1st then the new one on the 18th. They wouldnt/couldnt tell me which cards they had on file and accused me or my bank of being at fault and I needed to take the issue up with my bank. The bank never showed an attempt to withdraw on the 1st or less than enough money in the account to pay the bill at anytime. When calling them back they let up a little and started trying to bargain with me of how much they were going to reimburse me. I had to talk to a manager to get the full reimbursement and asked him to delete my card info from the system. I got the money back but next month another NSF fee... they hadnt deleted my card info. I canceled my account and recommend Defined Fitness, Liberty Gym, SNAP Fitness, or any other gym in Albuquerque. If you are wondering why I was there for so long under these conditions, it was to encourage a friend to go to the gym more frequently.
This Sports and Wellness is the one I most frequent since its closest to where I live. Its the racquet ball Mecca of all the S&W gyms in town. It has all of the amenities that you would expect for the price you pay for membership. Besides racquet ball courts, it has an outside pool which they put a dome on during wintertime, jacuzzis, sauna, a basketball court, cardio room, excellent weight room facility, etc. I would give the gym 5 Stars aside for two reasons: 1) They have not invested any capital into remodeling their locker rooms. Many of the lockers are falling apart and they are at, the very least, 20 years old. 2) Excessive nudity in the locker room, especially near the shower area. I mean, lets face it, youre bound to see some naked people in a gym locker room but this is ridiculous! There are no shortage of towels in this place either. Other than that its an excellent gym.
I had a gym membership here for 3 years. They kicked all the amazing instructors and these instructors started their own gym. The day I decided to cancel my membership to join Evolv Fitness is when the staff started learning my name and about my family - whom also had canceled and went to the new gym.The only group classes they give are 80% the LeMills Body Pump/Cardio Box type classes which are all monotonous and repetitive for 3 months straight. The additional TRX/Pilates are only a small fee of $20 additional dollars PER class ON TOP of the $80.00 membership you already pay. There are TONS of better gyms just as clean and much more friendlier than this ridiculous place. Save your money.
A lot of different choices
Great yoga classes and aquatic facilities
Not enough Basketball hoops. Need to put the hoops back into the Aerobics class area so that people can shoot around when there are not classes going on
Tried hitting me with 25$ for a day pass ridiculous aint worth it place is trash.
Only gym in town (during my research) that would not discuss prices with me over the phone?! Seems way to sketch and odd that they will not disclose simple information like this. After reading other peoples reviews it would seem they are charging around $100 a month with an extra charge for using the racquetball courts (which is the only reason I was considering them over another place).
I just learned that Midtown will no longer cover its only swimming pool, which is outdoors, with a bubble during the winter months. Apparently management does not realize that it snows in Albuquerque, which frequently receives temperatures well below freezing. Either that, or it chooses to ignore reality. Management clearly does not care about its members.
Honestly hate coming here cause its always hot in the gym, prefer going to any of the other gyms
Big gym, basic customer service
Been a member since 1992!
Friendly staff and clean facility!
Like it but not like the locker room to much nudity
