I went out to ABQ on vacation for about two weeks & needed a gym to work out at during that time every other day. I met who with was I think the owner & he let me get a pass for two weeks even though i didnt see it as an option on the site. The cost was very cheap. The facility is very clean compared to some of the gyms i have been to on my travels. The owner does a decent job also compared to some of the gyms i have been to where equipment is run down etc. This is a great gym if you are looking for mainly resistence training & some light cardio. Hopefully this brings more business.

In ABQ for a month doing a rotation. This place was close by and highly rated. It was exactly what I was looking for. They made me a reasonable deal for a month, have everything I was looking for (lots of weights and machines) - very basic setup but large enough so you rarely have to wait on something, and always a squat rack open. Staff is super hands off, not rude as others have mentioned. If you need something go upstairs and ask, otherwise they mind their own business bc its not a restaurant. They have one time supplements for sale at a very reasonable price as well (pre-workout etc). Temperature was nice and when you need to cool off just go stand by the one of the windows. Bathroom can get a little ripe, but its a gym restroom lol. I also saw something about minorities - not sure what theyre talking about, minorities from where Im from are the majority here. Nobody seems to care that Im white, or from somewhere else, or really anything at all. Its great. Id recommend them not using communal equipment wipe off towels, maybe something disposable, since this is a new era of aseptic practice, but otherwise I love this gym and would sign a contract if I lived here.

The gym is set up perfectly to get a safe, quality workout. The equipment is nice and well maintained. COVID-19 protocols in place with other conscientious people ensuring everything remains clean for the next person. Excellent gym for people who like to work with free weights and dont mind a crowd. The facilities were always clean and the staff was super friendly. I had a membership for over a year and would recommend it to anyone who likes and old school gym with non of the frills and station campers. Peak times were a bit hectic but nothing that wouldnt make me stop going.

MILITARY REVIEW: Actual rating 4.5 stars. The owner Kevin was super awesome and helpful. I dropped in for a day workout passing through and this was a good find. Its clean and organized. Slightly older crowd of people that workout here and found them getting in the way a bit. Has most equipment, tons of leg equipment and free weights. Was missing any serious back machines and all of the cables are quite outdated. All and all did the job and Kevin was great. Recommend if your passing through and need a lift. Cant beat the prices.

This a simple and great weight lifting gym. They have tones of free weights and machines. They have some cardio machines (treadmills, stair steppers, row machine, bikes, etc.) The people there are friendly and the regular goers have a good community. There is a locker room with showers, cubbies and lock boxes to store things. They have a little store in their too for clothing and supplements. They have trainers if thats what you like. Great price for what you get. Its an iron paradise with a gym cat!

This gym may have been something in the past, but it has gone downhill over the years. All that could have been construed as hardcore about this place except the age of the equipment has been lost. Most of the employees (sans Bobby) have no idea how to lift weights and have no conception of the fact that weights make noise (especially old Iron ones). I spent over a year and a half at this gym only to be unceremoniously told I couldnt renew my membership because I happen to think its inappropriate that 90% of the gym doesnt seem to know rule one of gym etiquette, much less rules 2-10. In fact, I routinely actually FIXED equipment in this gym of my own volition, without complaint, and was still told I couldnt come back. On top of that the bars are fairly dangerous to squat heavy with (far too much flex with 4 plates), and substantially more than a few of the plates are off by 4 or 5 whole pounds. This can lead to a pretty dangerous situation while squatting anywhere near the limit. Add to that that chalk isnt allowed (liquid chalk is NOT chalk) and you have a recipe that I wouldnt be surprised if results in serious injury to someone in the future. If youre remotely serious about getting big, or getting strong, you have better options (which Im now trying to find).

Stopped in for a few months while on business. Cant recommend them enough! Everyone was friendly and courteous, racked their weights, and were generally awesome. Mens showers could use a good scrubbing. 4 power racks are awesome.

I stopped in while passing through town and was very impressed. $5 for a drop in fee is unbelievably cheap. The facilities were clean and modern. Way more free weights than you get at most big box gyms, so I never had to wait, plus everything was actually where it was supposed to be. The staff was friendly, as were the other patrons. Also, the music was good. If I ever come back, I know where Im working out. Also, the one girl who left a bad review sounds like a jerk. People like her are the reason most gyms are messy, annoying places.

THIS POST KEEPS GETTING DELETED BY THE OWNERThey wouldnt allow me a gym membership when they found out I had my ADA federally protected service dog with public access rights, even though I had previously been a member for several years. I was told by max who is one of the staff that because the cat has been there longer then anyone that it warrants more rights than anybody that he couldnt allow me to be a member. He became highly offended when I tried to educate him and called Doug the owner saying Im causing problems and Doug banned me and told me to never come back and called the cops. I left after I realized they wouldnt see or hear me as a person and human being and I didnt want to be escorted away by police for someone elses ignorance. I called back today trying to get ahold of the owner doug to see if he was ready to hear me and Brian another staff answered the phone and asked who I was when I told him he became very rude and aggressive in his tone and told me he feels like I shouldnt talk to doug and hung up on me . I called back and explained that I feel like he shouldnt be the one making the decision of whether or not I should have a conversation with the owner he just laughed and hung up the phone again. I worked out at this gym for over 5 years and switched gyms about a year and a half ago. The staff, management and owner of liberty have been very rude and unprofessional towards me for very petty reasons when all I wanted to do was maintain my active life style. I dont go to the gym to socialize and make friends but if it happens thats cool all I go for is to exercise, workout and to better myself, this establishment has went above and beyond to hinder that for me I do not recomend this gym to anybody after these experiences with several representatives from this company.

I go here every time I am in ABQ and it is a killer gym for people that like to actual lift hard with a non typical gym crowd. It reminds of the New Mexico version of the Mecca in California. Only $5 for a day and $15 for a whole week which is absolutely unreal! Most places like Defined fitness and Planet fitness in ABQ are $10-20 for one day. And Ive never once felt pressured to sign up for anything at Liberty. It has all the machines you could want and awesome squat racks with different varieties of barbells. Highly highly recommend to anyone travelling through or visiting.

Liberty has been my gym for decades. I check out others from time to time, but always come back here. 1 - Its quiet. No spin class instructors shrieking at the tops of their lungs to floor-pounding music, a low setting on background songs so you can listen to your own music or a book on tape while working out, nobody crashing weights around. 2 - Some merchandise available, but nobodys tried to sell me a line of vitamins. 3 - A big floor space has been opened up in the back where there are mats so that you can *lie down and stretch* after a workout, which is particularly important for older people (me; Ive just turned 79 -- but everybody else uses them too). 4 - Friendly and helpful staff: my husband used to go here too in his seventies, and they kindly kept a sharp eye on him when he needed it. 5 - Attention to the equipment. When something breaks down, it gets fixed or replaced. 6 - the high, high ceiling -- Liberty never feels cramped or stuffy,. You can always look UP.7 - The mix; youre not the only old person there, or the only white person, or the only black/brown/other colored person there, or the only Spanish-speaking person, or the only overweight person, or the only physically impaired person or person working out in street slacks and a T (but gym shoes, of course), or the only anything. There are muscle cars and Priuses and pickups and commercial vans and Tauruses and big Dodge trucks and my old Corolla in the parking lot.8 - And theres the cat. Seriously. Shes calm and friendly, but if you dont like cats shell leave you alone. SMC

I was in town for a week and they allow you to use a 5 dollars day pass and I was happy with the way this gym is set up and the equipment seems manish all metal and what not but it felt good to use free weights and have options in between, ie 12 pounds or 7. There was enough for everyone to use and not be waiting and enough equipment for everyone to have a machine at the same time. Good service too, has locker room, bathroom and showers in same area, all as youd expect at a gym but not disappointing. Thanks 👍

As I took my headphones out I could hear that he was yelling at me! This guy was approximately in his forties, and I am a nineteen year old female. I guess I put a weight back in the wrong spot. As I stood there listening to this strange man yell at me, I told him I would be the mature one and put it back. I then proceeded to the managers office and told him what happened. I am a fitness fanatic and have gone to Defined Fitness for years, so I was just trying out a new scene, but I will never go back to Liberty Gym it was very unprofessional and it isnt even that nice. This would never happen at Defined Fitness because they are all about the customer, and I will definitely be going back and staying at Defined Fitness.
