Ive been doing CrossFit 8 years and have been to gyms all over the country. Love the CrossFit community everywhere, the camaraderie is some of the best Ive found. But I will say CrossFit Albuquerque went above and beyond. I am traveling and was having trouble finding a gym that would host me for the masters qualifiers. Aaron welcomed me, went out of his way to get me set up, and Brandi was an awesome coach and so much fun to work with! I hope to make it back to the area soon so I can join them again.
I’m new to CrossFit and I’m so glad I started here in Albuquerque— the coach taught me what I need to know to be successful as a new member, the people in the classes are supportive and welcoming, and the gym is well equipped and clean! Highly recommend!!
Don’t tell the city of ABQ, but this gym may just be my favorite part of the city!I love it - the instructors give me these tiny cues, maybe just one every once in a while, that allows me to focus on that one thing throughout the entire workout. It has made a great difference. For example, yesterday morning, with just watching 1 lift, the coach was able to pinpoint that I do not engage my glutes and hammies very well on the second phase of my pull in the snatch, and he gave me a drill to consider adding to my repertoire. Even just noticing that helped me really try to think about it during my workout. It was awesome!I got another cue from another coach about initiating the movement of the squat from my hips was superb. Both coaches were quickly able to see how I ‘quadzilla’ through all of my work instead of engaging my posterior. That’s an amazing skill that you have from the minimal times you have seen me!Thanks so much for having me. It’s going to be the thing I miss most when leaving. Wish I could replicate Cf ABQ back in CT/MA :)
Lots to love about this gym: friendly environment, dedicated coaches, nice facility..... However, my drop in experience did not meet my expectations. I showed up 15 mins early to my class time and was locked outside (understandable due to Covid). As I get checked in, I was told to start the workout in 5 mins without any warm up or workout briefing. As a CrossFit coach and health care professional, I felt inadequately prepared and unsafe to push myself. I appreciate the hospitality, but please give us enough time to warm up.
I needed to do the second CrossFit Open WOD while I was in Albuquerque. So I reached out to CFA to see if I could drop-in for the workout. Within a hour, the awesome new owner, Coach Aaron, replied and let me know I could come in! Whew!!! :)I used to be a member of CFA while living in ABQ so it was a pleasure to be able to drop in and see how the box was looking these days...I was not disappointed!Everything was clean, organized with pictures of the members on the walls...which to me means the focus is on the athlete, not just the owner or a specific person.Aaron even found the time, as an owner-athlete, to judge me!Whether you are dropping in or gonna become a member of CFA (which I highly recommend), you wont be disappointed! Thanks Coach Aaron!Chuck
This is a good Box. I’m from TX and I’m a L1 certified CF coach. I dropped in on Veterans Day. Joe made me feel welcome right away. The members were really polite and fun to work out with. I recommend this box.
We always stop in here when were in town. Joe is awesome. Whitney is a beast. (Got to watch her at the games in 2016)
First experience with crossfit and we were so impressed with CrossFit Albuquerque!! Joe was helpful and welcoming and made sure we felt comfortable with the different lifting techniques and skills. It was not only a great workout but a great environment to learn in - would definitely recommend!
Crossfit Albuquerque has changed the way I view exercise and actually made me like working out. I was not athletic at all before coming here. I first came because my husband liked it and I thought I would give it a try. I was super intimidated before going that it would all be muscle-men lifting heavy weights. Boy was I wrong! There are people at all different stages and I paired up with other newer ladies who didn’t have biceps either :) All of the coaches are super helpful and make you feel welcome wherever you’re at. I never felt unsafe and felt comfortable to scale the movement or the weight as needed for my level of fitness and skill. I love that every day is different, but uses the same type of movements. It keeps it interesting and fresh, but it’s also easy to see gains as it’s the same kinds of movements. I’ve been at Crossfit Albuquerque for over a year now and I can say that I’ve never been in better shape. I’m looking forward to many more years of functional fitness!
Great 1 week free challenges, introduces you to the facility, instructors and fellow fitness gurus. GreAt facility, ability to adapt for beginners, never felt new alienated or out of place everyone is very welcoming.
Great Crossfit gym
Joe was fantastic, fun wod and cash out was nice. Clean, great environment.
I travel all over the country for work and this is my #1 favorite gym to drop into. Great coaching and community every day of the week.
Dropped into CFABQ and was very surprised at the immediate welcome that I received by Joe. I had a hard time picking a gym during my visit to albuquerque because of the multitude of locations. I decided on CFABQ because of the great reviews, location, and a recommend from one of my home gym members. If youre in Albuquerque and looking for a box to drop in at do yourself a favor and check this one out. Ill be coming here all week.
Crossfit Albuquerque was great, helped us out with a drop in session during our massive North America road trip. The facilities were great and the programming was solid, we had a nice small class at 5pm so were treated to solid attention from the coach.Id definitely recommend Crossfit Albuquerque to anyone looking to jumpstart their fitness programming or further progress their athletic ability. Thanks again guys! The aussies
Love this place!
Crossfit offers consistency in all of the trademarked gyms across the US, and if you are a Crossfit junky looking for a gym this review is for you. My normal Crossfit gym is in Mesa, AZ but I travel frequently. After dropping in at several gyms it is great to see the consistency upheld but also each gyms twist or personality they put into their program. I have not experienced any let downs in the gyms I have visited or, “dropped in” as it is formally named, however I have noted the difference between good coaches and great coaches. Before I drop in at gyms, I always read the reviews if any are available and if the city offers more than one gym. Albuquerque was a hard pick for me because they have numerous gyms, but the reviews are not all that helpful. Here is how I break it down for you; 1) trainers 2) location 3) fees 4) equipment and space available and 5) programs offered.First, the trainers here are incredibly talented. They have the knowledge/training, and their interpersonal skills with their clients are bar none. I particularly worked with Joe, Emily, and Matt. Each trainer has the ability to motivate people and interact with any age person in various physical conditions. This is important in order to understand the principals of the program in order to get the most out of your workout in the safest way possible. Crossfit works for everyone and even if you have physical limitations.Secondly, their location was easy to find, located off of I-25 and generally central to the city.Third, their fees are consistent and pretty standard with the Crossfit Trademark.Fourth, the equipment is in good condition, all operational, and they have the full arrangement of what is needed for Crossfit.Lastly, and my absolute favorite is their Olympic Weight Lifting program. If you are a Crossfitter, you know that the Workout of the Day (WOD) is always something different and the fundamentals of the exercises, or techniques are specific to whatever you are doing. I am accustomed to rushing through the WOD, trying to get the best time possible for competitive purposes. I never stopped to really focus on the perfect technique and this gym offers that. Joe worked with me individually using “Coach’s Eye”, which is a smart phone app that visually displayed to me everything in my techniques. I am a visual learner, so this helped me tremendously. I would recommend the Olympic Weight Lifting program to people who are already familiar with Crossfit because this will help you with your WODs, however anyone can do it. Now that I am back at my home gym, I think a little more before rushing through the WOD. Focusing on the technique offers an entire different level of challenge. In summary, if you have even read this far, check this gym out. I give Crossfit Albuquerque an Excellent rating in my book.
Best box in ABQ hands down
Great energetic environment.
