Best Health club in Albuquerque perfectly located close to the mountains love the vibe here facilities are very clean and well kept if only it werent so expensive
This is absolutely the worst gym you can ever experience. Extremely low quality equipment on top of all that not being nice The workers are extremely unorganized no one knows what they’re doing, no one knows how to run a gym there or speak professionally about any of the things there. they are so rude to the customers I’ve had multiple arguments with the employees and managers there Don’t listen to any of them if they try making you sign papers because you will be charged no matter what the circumstances are They never tell you it’s a contract and push you to sign papers and don’t clearly say what they are. I told them I am moving because my father died and they wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount every single month. Worst gym ever.
Facilities are nice but typical used car salesmanship, when you cancel your membership keep your paperwork they will blindly send you to collections without contacting you prior. There are better ways to run a business
It has been nice to get outside and enjoy the pool! They are very diligent at constant cleaning and making sure everyone is wearing a mask. Reservations have to be made but that keeps the occupancy safe. Great job! Thanks!
I love this gym. Today one of their associates, Brooke, went above and beyond.
These are some of the nicest people I see everyday. They greet me by name, engage in conversation with me, just awesome.
I love it here! It’s like a country club, but without the golf course. It’s very clean and the staff is always so welcoming and nice. Even the members are so friendly and I’ve made a few new friends. 10/10 recommend!
Love the pool! Love it. So relaxing up by the foothills looking at the mountain. The staff at all of the Sports and Wellness clubs are generally nice but something about the Highpoint crew sets them apart from the rest. The workout area isnt huge but it suffices. All about the pool and tennis at Highpoint. Get in a workout and cool off by the pool - great way to spend morning or an afternoon.Enjoy!
So I am having a lot of competition for the 4 upright bikes this club has. I have a meniscus that’s a problem and I need the upright bike for my warm up. Daily. I’ve been arriving at 9 AM and Ken one of the trainers has his class of 5-6 on all the bikes when I need 1 for 10 min. I waited 25 min. When I finally got a bike I had 10 min. To workout. This has been going on for a year! Today and a few other members were also waiting. I’ve discussed this with Rich the manager .. no help, Jessica head trainer, I asked Ken for a few minutes to discuss this. He’s seen me everyday for the last week and 1/2. He hasn’t spoken to me at all! still no sharing. So I’m doing this, we will see if anyone cares! Used to be a great workout club.. not so much now. I asked for 1 more bike like a year ago! Aaag! 😩🙈
Some of the people are great here...but overall it is a much older crowd and they have no steam room. There honestly is a snooty air at this location, but to each their own. I mostly choose to work out at the other locations, because of the diversity and acceptance I feel, but that is my perception. And it is validated through conversations I have had with other members. They have the best pools at this location and plenty of friendly people. I like how they host events and have plenty of free classes. Ive been a member for 10 years! So bottom line- Sports & Wellness is the best that Albuquerque has to offer!
Highpoint has never been better in my opinion. Jessica and her staff always listen to us and address our problems immediately. There are plenty of bikes and other cardio equipment. We can even use the spin bikes if we need to. Ive never seen it so busy that people cant find a piece of equipment. Thats what we love about this club. Classy, caring and unselfish staff.
This is more toward all the Sports and Wellness facilities although highpoint was my gym for 15 years. Unless you like over paying to for a mediocre gym I would suggest any other gym. I would stay away from ALL Sport and Wellness gyms and Wellbridge fitness as a whole. Trash company with trash management.
The staff is amazing, the amenities are fantastic. I absolutely love Highpoint and its the only place I go to workout as well as relax. Ive made many friends here and enjoy seeing the customer service associates as soon as I walk in :)
Love the personal training staff. They are professional and friendly. There is a trainer for whatever you are looking for. I workout with Garrett and Julian, but they are all good because Jessica, the personal training manager, is awesome and runs a great program.
Outstanding place to cool down by the pool outdoors or swim a few laps indoors. Maybe play some tennis, work-out in the gym. grab some lunch in the snack bar, or just relax on the grassy area by pool . Nice sports gym to visit to join or just visit. customer service was helpful when needed. Great job Management......... and staff
My favourite place in the world!!! It is not as fancy as the other gyms for sports and wellness but I find that this place is not too crowded!! Which is pretty awesome. No long wait for using equipment. To top it off, the stuff is just amazing. Super friendly and helpful
It is hard to justify paying twice as much as defined fitness for similar facilities. Childcare also costs extra here unless you add the child as a member. The biggest frustration is communication and transparency. To get information on swimming lessons and cost of membership, you have to talk to a host of different staff that don’t respond consistently. To get information on the cost of membership, you have to talk to a specific salesman since they make a commission. The process is not beneficial to the customer and also seems to burn out the sales employees.
It good I working out everyday keep me going never give up keep moving forward
Just finished dealing with the staff trying to figure out prices for the gym. Being from Portland, Im accustomed to paying a premium for a higher end facility with courteous staff. This club however, has very little to merit its increased cost. I have yet to find a club in the area that matches something like Club Sport from Portland. The staff speak to their clients as though they are sheep to be fleeced. Avoiding all mention of what it actually costs. Im already paying a premium for your club, I very much dislike being nickle and dimed. The money itself makes very little difference to me, but continuously being told, Oh, that will be extra gets on my nerves in the extreme.Further, when paying something around a hundred dollars a month (I couldnt squeeze the actual price out of the salesman without signing the dotted line) I expect there to be no wait times for equipment. I was incorrect. They have enough people to easily fill all their equipment during peak times.Perhaps the actual staff are worthy of more stars but getting to them through the army of salesmen is far more time than any busy, high paid individual should be willing to spend (which is what they advertise as their primary clientele.). Overall, they are nothing more than a club with the illusion of wealth charging scarcely less than a fitness club of actual wealth.
Theres nothing New Mexico about this place. The franchise is from Colorado. The review prior to this is absolutely right. The management sabotages their employees from growth in the company, especially if that employee becomes popular with clientele. Meaning if you increase your own sales by simply being good at your job. The turn over is extremely high, so how could customer service ever improve. Management spends more time focused on sales (direct contradiction to employee moral) rather than taking care of their existing clientele. They loose corporate accounts all the time for the same behavior. Support locally owned gyms and fitness facilities that need your business. Sports and Wellness is not one of them. The corporate office even screws over management. They hire management from out of state, move them to New Mexico. Then fire them for not making an unreasonable amount of sales. Sports and Wellness doesnt do anything for the community. Check their PR. There is not PR
I loved this location for years they were family friendly but the people that come there can be cruel! I have been harrassed 3 times about my kids being there, now if my child was really unruly Id understand but my kids listen better then adults do. Some old ppl really hate children period. Its only a matter of time before it gets physical.
These guys are handling reopening. Professional and safe 👌.
Very nice,I thought I would try this place. They provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.I really enjoyed it.
Place too small, constant constructions which makes lots of equipment unavailable, had same pale white girl with long red hair who works every Wednesday and Saturday who was not professional and rude to me. Manager Nick didnt do anything after my complaints. Other locations better!
I love High Point Sports and Wellness! I have been working out here for months and their facilities are simply wonderful. The only addition I would make is a steam room and another squat rack. Otherwise, this place is an incredibly high quality gym!
Awesome elegant, clean club!
Don’t waste your money. The club looks nice at first, but the equipment is always broken, there is never any hot water in the showers, the locker rooms are generally a mess, and most of all their customer service is atrocious. It’s simply not worth the money, and if you do join they will make sure they extort an extra two months dues from you when you want to cancel.
Great family gym. My only complaint is limited equipment and the dumbells only go up to 100.
This is a nice gym. Just wish there was a better selection of classes some days. I also wish the girls locker room was bigger.
A very nice gym with two pools and tons of tennis courts! The classes are really fun to!
Management is horrible. Assistant general manager Michele Lewis (photo below) called police on me for taking too long to shower, although maintenance employee gave me permission.I was an 18-year member with over 4,000 positive visits to the facility. The club is VERY expensive. Management does not control kids well. Dangerous for them there. Management does not fix broken items quickly. Doesnt seem management cares about members -- only their money!
Great outdoor pool, sauna, clean indoor pool, friendly staff good place overall. 👍🏽 Too expensive is only complaint.
Ugh... I wanted to hate this place cuz its so expensive but my whole family enjoys it here. Swimming is great, personal trainers (Kenny) are awesome, equipment is varied & well maintained and Ive lost weight, feel stronger & love working out here. I go to Yoga at one of the other locations cuz its closer to my kids activities which is a nice perk.
We love all the sports and wellness locations but this one by far is our favorite. As gym memberships to, S&W is definety on the pricy end in Albuquerque, its not enough to break the bank, but enough to motivate you to actually go to the gym and take advantage of the facilities. Our account manager Nolan is amazing and makes sure that anything we need is taken care of. We love having access to a variety of facilities like Raquetball, tennis, exercise classes, indoor and outdoor pools, all in one location. This is really the way to go if youre looking for a gym membership, if anything just for the sheer variety of activities you can do.
Make sure you read the fine print when signing up. I signed up for a summer membership and am now paying through September. BAD BUSINESS. I WILL NEVER RETURN AND WILL TELL MY FRIENDS NOT TO EITHER. JCC is only $50.00 a month and they are all about customer service!
Excellent trainers, staff and classes. The facility is very clean. Theres a good selection of classes. Great atmosphere with really nice clientele.
I think Sports and Wellness overall is a nice place. I do, however, think, for the price, they are charging way too much. I agree with other reviewers that this location is particularly nice. So Id give this place 4.5 stars for amenities, and 1.5 stars, because Sports & Wellness charges too much for their memberships.
Where everybody knows your name... Seriously, it’s a great place to heal and get moving.
A smaller club than some of the sister clubs, it has an upscale, yet neighborhood hang-out vibe. Great tennis and racquetball courts, and 2 pools.
The personal training staff is warm and friendly, with good senses of humor at the same time as being competent and caring professionals.
Very nice and wonderful facility as well as staff but very expensive unfortunately. I will say they have day care which was wonderful and is the only gym chain with day care services at this time. Ive checked lol.
And maybe a little pricey but totally worth it! the staff are super friendly and the childcare workers go above and beyond all the time.
Excellent service. Great facilities. Great childcare. 84 degree indoor pool with hot tub and sauna. Excellent tennis and raquetball.
Basic family membership for over 10 years. We mainly use the pool and fitness center. Current membership (June 2016) is $185 monthly. It was around $100 when we joined. Fees go up several dollars every year. We like the outdoor pool. We dont like the extra fee of $10 - $15 per guest if our youngest wants to bring a friend to swim with for an hour or two.
So, an employee knowingly clocks in completely drunk, potentially putting members and other employees in danger, hurts himself and doesnt get fired. Interesting. What would it take Highpoint Sports and Wellness? Does he need to hurt someone first? Poor management skills across the board.
My friend invited my wife and I to an appreciation bbq and it was great. The other attendees appeared to be enjoying this function too.
Great members. It is really the members that mak e the gym. It is family oriented with career minded people.
Very nice facility. Great employees willing to help
Beautiful club. I was guest of a member and the courts were in good shape and the members were very nice.
I initially began working out at this location because it is very close to my home. As i kept going, i realized i am going to stay because of the friendly faces both from the gym staff as well as the members. The child care is excellent, providing both childcare for while youre working out, and the great escape. The great escape lets you pay for 2-4 hour increments of time (within regular childcare hours) that you can leave the premesis and do what you need to get done. Highpoints childcare will ensure that your child is safe and happy while you run your errands. Most importantly, my two children love going to childcare. My seven year old asks me every day Are we going to the gym? I want to see my friends! (She is referring to both children who attend as well as the childcare staff)All of the managers are pleasant and kind, and most know you by name. It is nice to be greeted welcomingly every time you come to workout. This location also holds paint nights, for both adults and children. The childcare director is a wonderful artist and she guides you through every step of the process to creating a wonderful work of art for your home. There have been paint classes for just adults, just kids, and for the whole family. They are super fun.The workout environment is very nice as well. There are people of all skill levels on the gym floors and as a beginner, you dont get that side eye from the experts like you do at some other gyms in town.I cant speak to the tennis or racquetball programs because I dont know the first thing about either sport, but from what Ive heard, they are excellent. :)Thank you Highpoint for being my home away from home and my gym family!!
Beautiful, fun and great staff! Our entire family looks forward to going for exercise and play!
Sports & Wellness are the best gyms in ABQ. They are always very welcoming, super clean, have great amenities, and the group classes are phenomenal.
This is my favorite gym in the city. It has a great weight room and outdoor pool.
I am very disappointed with Sports and Wellness. All locations are filthy. Black mold in the showers and on shower curtains, vents coated with thick dust, sweat drips and drink spills on the floor and the equipment never gets cleaned. The only locations where I have seen staff cleaning in the fitness areas are Highpoint and DelNorte. However, even though these locations have employees cleaning the fitness areas, what gets missed at every location is the locker room. Cleaning staff are in the locker rooms often, but they dont do anything other than replace towels and fill soap. Perhaps they could also mop the bathrooms and spray down showers with bleach at least once during the day.DelNortes locker room smells like dirty feet. Perhaps a regular schedule of shampooing the carpet would help. Midtown and Riverpoints showers are lined with mold and black/green slime. The water temperature at Riverpoint is dangerous. The showers fluctuate temperature based on water usage in other parts of the locker room so you can go from a comfortable water temp to scalding to cold all within a few seconds. This can be repaired, but they are too cheap to do it.Another area of concern is equipment maintenance. It takes weeks for equipment to be repaired. When the same pieces of equipment routinely breakdown, its time to replace it.More consistency and attention to detail among the clubs would be appreciated. New equipment should be a priority for all locations. The downtown weight room can really use an update. It looks like the downtown location gets all the hand downs from other locations.Sports and Wellness promotes themselves as a premier, country club type facility and they charge accordingly. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and upkeep of their facilities and equipment tell a different story.I have brought these concerns to the management at each location and nothing changes. They dont care about members, just your money.
Great gym, friendly staff, and outstanding tennis courts
I really enjoy the atmosphere. The pool is always nice.. however the the locker room attendant is very invasive, NO PRIVACY
Ive swimmed in many Masters Swim Teams for many years. Ive never had a better coach than Eric De Santo. He is fantastic, fun, patient, informative...he is great. His team loves him!!! Hes wearing a dark shirt in the middle in the photo of his birthday.
Been going to them for a few years now & their most recent management is not great! Their prices & customer service have never been good, but I did like the amenities. Were a family that mostly goes for the pool & hot tub. I never leave my kids alone in the pool/hot tub area. Theyve now restricted the hot tub to where I actually have to be in the hot tub w/my kids...whats the big deal if I dont leave!? Rethinking continuing my membership. Prices too high to be restricted.
Absolutely perfect location close to the sandias/glenwoodhills very well kept gorgeous facility love it! If only memberships werent so overpriced also the cafe is never open when it should be other than that this is one of my favorite places in Albuquerque
Fantastic staff - fantastic programs. Nolan and Ryan get 15 out of 10 stars from us.
I prefer a saltwater pool. But best pool in alb.
Not a whole lot of shallow room for little kids to play, but was kept nice and clean.
Friendly knowledgeable staff heated pools sauna gym racquetball tennis what more do you need.
I enjoy the step classes the most ... And water aerobics -perfect for my achy knees!
Beautiful club with friendly staff.
I love going to this gym to exercise! 🙂
Attended a racquetball tournament there. excellent facilities
Gym is good, BUT... beware the dreaded CONTRACT. Heres what they dont tell you and youre probably going to miss in the contract:They require 30 day notice to cancel your membership. But not just 30 days... If you cancel on July 2, you are going to be paying through the end of August. Some BS about their 30 day billing cycle. So you really are going to pay them for 2 months longer than you use the gym.And since this IS the most expensive gym in town (our bill was over $200 a month), paying for an extra two months when you want to cancel is some pretty shady crapola!A call to their management company (Wellbridge) was answered with well, you signed the contract...As always, caveat emptor because these guys are crooks.
They have and indoor pool, outdoor pool, a sauna inside, a hot tub, two tennis courts, a volleyball court out front and lots of gym equipment. They also have racquetball inside by the desk and personal trainers for when you want to workout. You just have to sign up for it.
Gym is very small, classes are good but crowded. The outdoor pool is nice, and the staff is friendly and apologetic when someone steals something from you in the locker rooms 😒
Nice racquet courts, cozy ambiance, tennis courts are spectacular, outdoor pool has spectacular views of the mountains. Not just a mill like other clubs.
Nice courts in atmosphere. Membership I think is a bit pricey but playing there is okay.
Great pool. Has indoor, outdoor, and kids pools
Shallow pool but clean, and its, warm and cozy in the winter.
Way way way too expensive nice place if youre rich
May 6 2019. Supposed to be open at 0500 and it’s 0530 and no ones here
This gym held racquetball tournaments until they decided to tear down 2 courts to expand the weight room. Now I dont go there anymore.
Nice facility and people. Quality equipment.
Pool is undersized and overcrowded. Lots of children. Nice that they provide towels and shampoo/conditioner.
Highland sports and fitness center comes back as being owned out of Carlsbad, CA. Anyone can look up the Bernalillo county tax records online if they dont believe me. It comes back as being owned by: Thomson Property Tax Service out of Carlsbad, CA and Showdown Tennis & Swim Club. I read a comment that someone said to support, locally owned businesses. If you go because you think its locally owned, then you have been catfished by this invasive company doing business as(dba) under a fake name.
If you ask me, this is an overpriced and a mediocre sports club. I am happy I just came to try this facility out before making the mistake of joining.
Nice building and equipment. Overall not many people.
Beautiful facility; friendly and accommodating staff!
Staff and instructors very friendly. Love the aerobic classes and enjoy going
Great place to work out.
All the Sports and Wellness facilities and the class instructors are top notch.
Great place to workout
Super clean and amazing staff all around! Just added an additional 1600 sq. ft. to the weight room!!
Best in Albuquerque very clean and well managed.
Great health club in the Albuquerque area.
Well kept, good equipment. Sub par pool and expensive
Great racquet ball courts
Mellow location with great views.
Our Prior Club..with Free in house daycare
Small, quiet location. Cozy.
Well cared for location
