We appreciated the way we were treated with concern and compassion. They asked us what we wanted and didn’t try to sell us anything else. George and the other woman (I’m sorry I don’t remember her name) went over and above helping us to set things up and then asking us if things were going as we expected. I want to thank you for all your help as we were going thru a very difficult time. And still now, Riverside has been reaching out to me with beautiful messages and poems to go thru the grieving process. They ask how we are doing and really care :) I would give Riverside 10++++++ stars!

They gave very good lip service but did not follow through. Was supposed to do my mothers hair and makeup, talked to them twice and they didn’t follow through. They didn’t do any makeup and hair. They were 30 minutes late to the church. They did not direct the people before or after the funeral. We were not told we needed to pick up the vault and had to make an extra trip out of town to quickly get there before they closed. They didn’t inform us about the vault when they had been there before. Not happy. I would not recommend their services.

Its been almost 3 months since my mother has passed. Was not given the urn I paid for. The OMI released the death certificate on July 12, 2021. Have not received that either. I have given up calling as my calls are rarely returned.Since posting my one star review, I have received both my urn and death certificate. Its a shame that it took a bad review to finalize everything.

My family lost a father, a husband, brother and friend recently this year. The loss was unexpected and very difficult. We came to this funeral home hoping to get things moving forward and having the employees helping us with compassion and delicacy for our family. We had Amanda Steward. I can’t tell you how unorganized, unapologetic for it, and even lied to my sister while trying to get the things asked for. My mom went through so much getting my dads ashes back because of her. It took way longer then it should have. Honestly, this is unacceptable. Especially dealing with such a sad thing. I’m not sure why she’s in this business. My advice to anyone looking to come here, don’t waste your time or money. It was a long, horrible, unprofessional experience.

DONT USE THIS PLACE!! this place is horrible, they refuse to keep you updated about your loved ones. My sister passed away April 18, 2021 and she still has not been cremated. I left messages and no response, I know that cremations can take awhile but they could at least keep us updated. I cant imagine my sisters remains in that awful place. I can imagine how rude the staff is behind closed doors. Please take your loved ones to a better place. This is the last place on earth anyone should vring a loved one.Update* I received my sisters ashes yesterday and I was really pleased that they didnt burn the bible she was holding for the whole time she was there. That ment a lot to the family and I was pleased with way they treated me when I went to pick up her remains..

I will never use or recommend Riverside funeral home ever again! They were quick to get us in and take our payment but when it came time to answer questions regarding what was happening with my moms cremation, we got no response. After multiple messages, and being ignored we decided to go in, only then when we got upset and approached our “funeral arranger” did we get answers. Who knows how long they had her permit without telling us. My dad went to pick up her death certificate, which he called to ask if it was ready and they said yes. He gets there and they can’t find them so they put him in a back room while they searched and refused to tell him how long they had them! They never posted her obituary which I sent weeks ago! Everything about this experience was awful, no consideration, no compassion, so sympathy, very very unprofessional! Never again!

HORRIBLE! Do not come here, it was a nightmare on top of losing a loved one. They are incompetent, do not communicate and give out misleading information. This place needs to be shut down! Save yourself more grief and go somewhere that will serve your family and lost loved one.

Ive called every number listed on their website and all of them are disconnected. I even tried their live chat and was connected to an operator who began typing a message before disconnecting me from the chat. I need to check on the status of a deceased loved one. This place is trash, do not use them.

We met with Anna Ivey when we came in for cremation arrangements for my brother. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and kind welcome and were assisted immediately. Thereafter, we met with Ms. Ivey who craftfully assisted us and helped us through the process in a thorough and efficient manner. Best of all, her kind, patient and consoling demeanor made this obviously difficult process a manageable one. We appreciate her expertise as well as her wonderful interpersonal skills. We are thankful that she was there and felt the need to recognize her excellent work. Thank you so very much.

This place is horrible my sister passed on march 24th it is now April 22nd and they have yet to creamate her body...me and my family have been calling to ask questions with james and he never calls back no courtesy call no info... So disrespected I will never use there services or reccomend them to any one... Response to owner you have not tried to reach out to the family i do not understand how you could even post this response if our loved one was not Chavez... You are very unprofessional and your team is worthless we were offered our money back for the urn and keepsakes no!!Do your jobs keep your word and deliver your promises... You donot return calls so dont say you do .. One phone call from your team in a month and you had no information to give

I just went there to make arrangements for my family member and was explaining to Jennifer McKinley that this was exhausting and she told me that I was exhausting her. I do not recommend going there at all. There is no compassion or empathy. So we walked out and left. That was just a horrible experience.

HORRIBLE! Do not use this place!!! My mother in law passed in Albuquerque but we live in FL. My husband is the trustee of her estate and she wanted to be cremated. They would not accept a personal check, an estate check, or a credit card. We had to send a cashiers check but due to COVID the bank was closed. It took three weeks to get it to them and they would not cremate her until then. It’s now 2 months, 4 calls, and 3 emails later and we still don’t have a death certificate. They actually charged us for the death certificate!!! But would not provide it until we sent a check for $60 and this time they did accept a personal check. There was absolutely No information about anything provided by them, no service, not even an offer to assist with or provide an obituary, no services what so ever.WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM FOR ANYTHING!

Rude,no compassion felt like the person was rushing us. When it came time to pick up the remains my Brother in law put my name on the list to pick up our loved ones remains being we live over an hour away and I work in Albuquerque. Needless to say I saw the lady type my name on the list but when it came down to pick up the remains my name wasnt on the list. This is the second time my family and I have dealt With riverside and they were rude then as well next time we will be using Noblin . We used Noblin when my son.passed away they were kind and curtious . The lady did not even give her condolences. She had no expression at anytime on her face not even a smile just a very straight face . I understand the job is hard but with other companies Noblin French we never experienced the rudeness. Their Staff needs better people skills.

They had not made arrangements beforehand so my mother & I found ourselves in a difficult situation searching for a respectable yet affordable place to conduct services. When my dad died unexpectedly I had no idea what to do. The hospital had no place to keep him. Thankfully I found Riverside. They came and picked him up in Taos very quickly. I never even had to drive out of town to their location. Everything was taken care of by email. The staff was INCREDIBLE. They were very caring, knowledgeable, and professional. They treated me like family. They took care of everything. They even notified social security. I now have left instructions for my children to call Riverside in the event of my untimely death because I know they will make that extremely difficult time, as stress free and easy as possible for my children.

Ive had a few pets die in the past few years and I took them to Riverside. The staff are incredibly caring and friendly, even when Im doing something silly like bringing in a chicken to be cremated. They even ask for my chickens names and refer to them by name! Their prices also cant be beat, which is great for someone like me who has ended up with a lot of geriatric pets.When my time comes, if they treat my body and my family with half the kindness theyve given to my pets and me - I would be the happiest ghost around

The death of a loved one is never easy and especially difficult when the loved one is only 31 years old and his death was not anticipated. My sister made the initial call to Riverside Funeral Home in Albuquerque, NM to plan the arrangements for my nephew James A. Ortizs funeral. The associates at Riverside displayed an extraordinary attention to detail. They started by explaining how the process would proceed legally since my nephew was not married and had minor children. In addition, they were very transparent when it came to the sales process and provided us with various options to meet our financial resources and provide my nephew with a respectable tribute to his life.Being raised Catholic, I did have some reservations about cremation and the process; especially after hearing about some stories in the Houston area about a crematory was cremating multiple bodies at once and families were not necessarily receiving the ashes of their loved ones. However, after the private viewing, Terry C. Dise showed great care, compassion and empathy by taking us on a tour of the facility. He explained the process and how his body would be tracked from the time it is prepared for cremation, placed in the retort (cremation chamber) and how the cremains would be removed from the retort, sifted, secured and returned to the family. Prior to us leaving, Terry made some recommendations about the jewelry that my nephew was wearing and recommended that it not be cremated, but rather placed in the urn with the cremains.The day of the service Terry C. Dise and Greg McKinnis arrived with my nephew 15 minutes early and made sure that everything was perfect prior to the remainder of the family viewing my nephew. The funeral was perfectly executed. NEVER have I met a more respectful, attentive and prompt staff. During our time of hurt and pain for our family, this entire staff made this very easy for us. Michael Monach was our first person we met, not only did he cater to us, while I was having a very difficult time he came to me to help me complete some signatures I missed. James was great helping us with paperwork. The young lady who hosted the services was so gentle and kind as well. To top it off the owner was actual present on days we went in, he was kind and had a great smile on his face that was contagious when we thought we didn’t have anything to smile about. Great fabulous company that if I could I would give a 10 star rating.

Read the comments for the one star reviews. Riverside is a troupe of death profiteers. 7 days after passing, they are trying to upsell my family a prioritized cremation for my sister-in-law. Otherwise they want a shipping address to which they can mail her. On the phone, 3 business days were promised. Dont believe anything they tell you, and the first time they use the word burn when referring to a loved one in front of the family--take a hint. This place is evil.

Riverside was amazing. Other funeral homes our family has used in the past have been very dishonest in their pricing. Riverside shows you all pricing up front which is 1/3 the price of any other funeral homes we have used in the past. Chris Trujillo went above and beyond in honoring our father and grandfather in setting up the funeral and handling all the details. I highly recommend Riverside and Chris without reservation.

This place is a nightmare!! I can not believe the horrible things families have to go through with them when loosing a loved one! We had my uncles services here at Riverside and the day of the service his cremations were nowhere to be found! Then to top it off we had to continue the service without the cremations present!! After his service was over they all of a sudden found them!! Who knows what kind of business this funeral home is running! It is not a professional place of business at all! The nerve of them to have families go through their unprofessional characters is wrong!! I also bought my uncle a rosary and told them to put it in with his cremation they not only disregarded what I told them to do but also didnt call us to say it wasnt done! I had to go pick up the rosary myself!! Please do not use them! They should not be causing troubles to families that need them the most during the time of loosing a loved one!

I recently went to Riverside for arrangements of a deceased relative. The process was easy, the staff were professional, and everything as expected. I appreciated the extra steps they took for my mom, who was an air force vet, and would recommend Riverside for easy, inexpensive cremations.

One of our ferrets passed away awhile back. I took him in right away and was treated well with great understanding and compassion. Unfortunately, we have lost another of our furry companions and I need to go back once again, but I am sure they will treat us the same way as before. Unfortunately I wish like a lot of others I could post negative stars. I was traveling from Iowa to Arizona when I suddenly lost my spouse. When I called about death certificates Josh had told me the person handling my case would call me back right away because they were already sent out. Two days later no call. So I call again and talk to Josh who hung up on me. So I call again and Josh says Oh yeah the death certificates werent sent out. I understand things take time but they werent even ready yet. It has been a comedy of errors from the start. Ive had to deal with the medical examiners office directly because I can either get no call back, the person who requests to talk to me then refuses to, or I get misinformation. And the owner who keeps saying his staff wont be disrespected, it goes both ways. Perhaps a customer gets upset when incompetent people are handling their case in a situation where emotions are already running high. Perhaps spending a little time on continuing education would be an invaluable asset to your company.

My mother recently passed away and after I had done my research, I found Riverside to be the least expensive. My mom was cremated and my family and I had a service in the chapel after the cremation was done. All of the staff was very nice to me and my family, I also had Chris Trujillo as our funeral director. Mr. Trujillo was there for me and my family every step of the way and made sure everything was just perfect. Mr. Trujillo and his wife, Felicia worked the service and made it so personable for my moms service. Every chance I get I recommend Riverside to family and friends, they do not try to pressure you to purchase expensive things that you dont need and treat you like you like they were your family. Thanks again for all that you do Riverside and I have already paid for my funeral with Riverside for my future!

We had an overall unsatisfying experience with this company. The Los Lunas location has very limited staff. When our loved one passed away on a Thursday we were told that they were closed Friday due to something with the staffs family. Weekends are appointment only to call Albuquerque to schedule an appointment for Saturday. Albuquerque was NO help at all. The lady who answered the phone was a complete joke. The hold time was horrible. We had paper work in out hand that and their staff was unable to locate anything on our family member. Kudos to their Santa Fe location. The staff up there was so nice! I called them 50+miles away and they got it all taken care of for us. Youd think working in this type of field staff would be a little more compassionate with families and they would have staff available at all locations since people pass at all hours of the day.

I called today, 05/16/2017, to ask a simple question. The young girl working there did not understand my simple question, so I could not get an answer. She did not listen, and she asked someone else, and that person did not know the answer to a simple question either. My dead dog could have answered the question. Too bad my dog is not alive. I dont even know why I called this funeral home. I pray that her dead soul will soon find life with Jesus. Please: Do not call with here with a simple question.

It’s so hard to think you have lost a loved one and have to go through the planing a funeral you would think the funeral home would have had the compassion and the heart to help you with all the preparation because you are paying a good amount of money they end up messing up the paperwork not once but twice it makes it so hard because all you want to do is put your love one to rest and you can’t because the funeral home is no help at all they keep making excuses of everything blaming one another. So if any one needs service from a funeral home I recommend anyone to not go and get Riverside it’s the worst place ever don’t put your self or your family members through a hard time with them.I Rate this place the worst it doesn’t even deserve one star but it wouldn’t let me post with out one.WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

You get what you pay for! We recently lost my grandma a couple months ago and used Gabaldon, at my grandmothers requests. This time around, with my grandfathers services, we tried keeping the costs down. Costs weren’t down by much and our experience with Riverside and Selma were very unpleasant. Selma was not sympathetic nor was any of the staff we had interactions with. The day of my grandpas services, the 2 staff members seemed as if it was their very first services. I would not recommend riverside to anyone. Go to Gabaldon and pay a little more if need be. Or anywhere else!

They were sort of nice, but the joking in the office that we could hear in the lobby wasnt particularly respectful or appropriate. The biggest problem was that they told us that cremation would take place in about two days - 5 days later *I* had to call *them* to find out what the holdup was. Or contact barely called us back at the very close of business the next day - a day later than promised. I had to continue to make follow-up calls after that - they never called us to let us know what was going on. I wonder if its because we didnt spend a lot of money with them that we got such crappy service.

RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE!!!!Horrible experience from day one! On many occasions one of the directors would not explain the procedure on cremation properly, and would get upset if we had any questions. She was short and raised her voice over ours and cut us short. We needed letters for employment and never did e-mail those to us!DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE THEY HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR YOUR LOSS!!!! This place is an absolute joke. From start to finish it was an absolute disaster. Amanda Stewart, the funeral director is the worst person to deal with. She has no idea what she’s talking about and shouldn’t be in the business. She messed up the whole thing because she didn’t ask the right questions. They even spelt his name wrong on the obituary. Very unprofessional...I would not recommend this funeral home to anyone! We had little to no help, had to basically direct the staff to do their own jobs. Had to call them every day to remind them of what needed to be done. They were rude and acted like this was their first funeral. They would reassure us in the beginning about all our questions and then would back track later and want a fee for services already agreed upon. I dont even know how they are still in business. Do not take your loved ones here!

Tanya Pohl, who is working christmas eve, hung up on us three times and sighed when we would ask simple questions. If anyone encounters this woman please beware as she is incredibly rude. I asked for her last name to place a complaint to a hire up and she refused to give me her full name. Incredibly rude, absolutely inconsiderate and I DO NOT recommend this funeral service TO ANYONE. Losing a Love one is hard enough ! So disappointed from the start when called in and they needed to add to the bill because the person before miscalculated the amount and made mistakes on the paper work on what we had chosen.. My poor moms neck was so swollen and her make up was caked on. Flowers ordered by them were falling apart and so ugly.. I am so hard broken with the services !

The staff, especially Gina, was very kind. They took time to help me on a busy Saturday during construction and a crowded service at the Chapel. Calls were returned promptly. I would use Riverside again if needed.

This place is terrible families are treated with no respect, and dignity haha! they need to look up the word. I would not take my dog there. First off any one who is a funeral director and has had proper training should know how to deal with different stages of grief, so when a family comes in your funeral home angry they have a dam good reason. They deserve the up most respect for they have lost a loved one. If you had some compassion maybe you would understand, so dont go responding to your reviews if you have no sympathy because your responses sound more like excuses and there is no excuse to mistreat a grieving family............Word gets around about bad business...

This has been a nightmare. Our contact assured us all was fine and then went out of town. We called for follow up questions and found out he hadnt done anything. Our burial has been pushed out and people coming in from out of town are going to miss it or have to change their flights due to his negligence and over-site. We had to do all of their leg work for them and had to remind them about details IE brochures, flowers, headstone, etc. They were very vague about packaging pricing and we still dont know what the inside of my grandmothers casket looks like. They are cheap, but there is a reason for that.

Its sad when a family member dies but to also be treated like another person or a number when that happens is even worse. My Dad died and was cremated at Riverside recently. We met to go over the arrangements with Octavia. WOW! She is very business oriented, that is good. No condolences, Im sorry for your loss, tell me about his life. Absolutely nothing!! As far as making the family feel okay with the services NOTHING!! She was about as cold as they come. On another note, their website is a complete joke! We had many, many friends and family members who would have liked to post their condolences. But that never happened because their website had issues. We were told this after complaining to them for the 1st week after my Dad died. Not sure if it ever was resolved. Riverside might be cheaper than other places, but maybe not the best choice for your family.

Like many have said on here I would give this place a negative rating if possible but google is a bit nicer than I. Riverside Funeral Home was one of the worst experiences in my life and my families. We went here to start the process to put my grandmother to rest expecting to encounter a smooth process like we had done many times in the past at other funeral homes and instead encountered a little piece of hell on earth. They first put us through the ringer making us go through a third party to obtain the insurance money needed to pay them for their services which we have come to find out could be an illegal process from other mortuaries. While that took almost a week leaving my grandmother just floating around instead of starting the process to put her the rest they were also EXTREMELY RUDE TO OUR FAMILY DURING THE WHOLE TIME! While proceeding to take our money for their terrible service they made the process extremely hard and unbearable during an already hard and unbearable time. So then an uncle of ours volunteered to pay the bill until the insurance money came in. So you would think they would welcome you with open arms and take your money but no they treated my uncle like trash while he gave them his hard earned money to boot. My uncle who was terminally ill at the time could not believe these people were even in business after that. My family filed a claim against Riverside Funeral Home with the Attorney General for illegal practices recently. The investigation will take some time but the actions were taken. And when we went back recently to receive some funds for services they never even tried to provide for us the owner CHARLES FINEGAN the OWNER came to the room we were in to curse at us and ask us how dare we file a claim against his terrible business. He even dared us to go on T.V. stating He likes to see himself on T.V and You dont have firm ground to stand on. This guy and his staff are grade A scum bags out their for your dollar and not willing to even give you a smile to work for it. They pray on weak people at a weak moment and are no better than your neighborhood crooks. As you can see from all of the 1 star reviews and the five star review that the owner probably wrote himself this business is not worth the used toilet paper they use to you know. Dont let them get another dollar of your money and continue these malpractices and deliver the worst customer service known to man. If you feel like being belittled, swindled, and treated like crap go to your local pawn shop instead.

Just know that with this, as in all other aspects of life, you get what you pay for. From the blaring harsh music one is forced to listen to while on hold, to the multiple messages one is forced to leave before ever receiving a return call, to the vague disinterested responses from the multiple untrained employees, do yourself a favor and take your business and grief elsewhere. This place is awful. If I could only go back in time and reconsider I surely would.

They are AWSOME this is the second service we have for our family in time frame of 3months... Their service is proffecional and super helpful we transfered both my Lovely Aunt in Nov.2015 & Today Feb. 20, 2016 my Adorable Grandmother is now on her way back home in Mexico. I would give 0 stars if possible. Im only writing this review so other people do not get trapped into this place. I lost my mom, we had her cremated. They were supposed to call and let us know when they were going to do it and they never called. I called to ask them why they didnt; all they wanted to do was argue and disagree with me. Very poor customer service. The manager cussed at me and hung up the phone. The owner threatened me and hung up the phone. I can only tell anyone who wants to come here to stay away. Do not take your loved ones there. I have never seen such an unprofessional place. They do not care; all they care about is the money. Words alone cannot describe how horrible they really are, mostly during stressful times.
