Duke has always been my barber when I go there, never a bad cut. Haven’t been there lately due to moving, but I sure do miss the great cuts! Thanks Duke for always being a great barber, and a good person to chat with in the chair. Your business is top notch!

Shop is clean and has a nice ambiance. Duke is a cool guy and its clear hes very detail oriented, gave me an awesome skin fade. I will definitely be back.

Scheduled an appointment with one of their barbers 2 days in advance, I showed up and the barber was “running late” so I had to wait 45 minutes with 5 other people. Following that incident I tried scheduling an appointment with another one of their barbers and he was not willing to work with me whatsoever on scheduling me in. They must not want new customers. Extremely over priced and at least an hour wait unless your best buddies with the barbers. Extremely unprofessional and almost impossible to just get a quick haircut even if you want to schedule an appointment

Service was regular, the one advantage about this barbershop is that it is always open during business hours, so if your favorite barber is closed it can be a back up plan. From the looks of it not all barber can cut 4a-4c hair. I was not lucky enough to get one that does since it was my first time and a walk in. I was impressed with the line up despite the fact that he didn’t even use the blade. I wanted to give an honest review so, the worse part was the tape up. The tape up was the worse I’ve ever gotten in my life, and it looked more like a failed fade because it was too high. I’ve never had to explain what a wave cut was before and that made the whole experience uneasy for me. In addition he was really shaky at first. The line up on my beard was alright but he didn’t line me up in front of my ears which is usually standard. Overall this man charged me 30$ for some really poor work. I came on a discounted day but I suppose it didn’t apply and I wasn’t going to make myself look bad but that cut was not worth 30$

I came in to get a hair cut no one was in the shop I had photo shoot and needed a refresh cut the guy in the shops comes out the back were all booked up wait huh how you have a empty shop so I took my business else where since he was so busy

Absolutely love this shop! Everyone is very friendly, and give a great haircut. Theyve been taking safety protocols very seriously since covid hit, everyone is wearing a mask the whole time, the correct way! Ive been coming here since moving to Albany in 2018. Im never going to a new barber shop!

This shop has an open, clean atmosphere and the barbers really know what theyre doing. Ill definitely be visiting them again.

First time at this shop, I was greeted right when I walked in the door. My barber Donnie cut my hair and it was just as i requested it. The shop was very clean, well lite and everyone was wearing ppe making this a great experience. I would recommend Donnie and this shop to everyone.

Dukes is the best barber shop Ive been to in the Capital District. My work schedule changes drastically, so I typically walk in and get whoever it available. Ive never been unhappy with my cut or beard trim. These guys are artisans!

Made an appointment with Brian for 1pm today. Showed up a little early, he was available, sat me immediately, he had gloves and a mask on and went right at it. Gave me a fantastic haircut after going almost 4 months without one. He was efficient, but craft full. The place is always sparkling clean, they had someone sweeping and changing out cleansers the whole time I was there. You can’t beat a Dukes haircut and Brian 💯 has a repeat customer.

Walked in and was sitting in a chair within a couple of minutes, which was rare for a well-rated barber shop. Service was great. Matt took care of me and was professional, friendly and courteous. Hair was really long and he took it down with a high top fade. Im happy with the cut and would definitely recommend.

Went to Dukes twice since moving here. The first haircut wasn’t bad, but not what I was looking for. The barber faced me away from the mirror, and didn’t allow me to see what he was doing until the very end which I didn’t really understand. At the end he asked if it was ok, but it was shorter than what I would have wanted. I could have intervened earlier if I were able to see the cut.I thought I’d give it another try, so I went back and had a different barber. Again, the barber asked what I wanted and faced me away from the mirror. Didn’t say a word to me during the cut. Even though I specifically requested to keep the length, it was again cut very short. I was asked at the end if I was ok with the cut, and again I felt it was too short, and I wish I could have seen it during the process.I thought that facing the client away from the mirror may have just been one persons style, but now I have experienced it twice at dukes, and was unhappy with the cuts. It was too late to intervene on both occasions, and I really didn’t appreciate it. The cuts weren’t bad, but I just felt that they didn’t take what I wanted into consideration.

I attend University in the area and was told that this was the popular spot for students to get a haircut. The place is nice and clean, but I’m disappointed with the quality of my haircut. I was looking forward to getting a sharp and polished look, but I didn’t get the results I was hoping to receive there. It’s not the worst haircut I’ve ever had, but certainly not the best. I will need to venture to another barber to finish the job.

I’ve been to this barber shop twice now and had great experiences both times (first time I saw Austin and this time I saw Rocco). The guys are all friendly, they’ve always got a good movie going, and the cut is detailed and (importantly) NOT RUSHED! Very satisfied with my visits so far.

I got an awesome haircut from Duke The Master Barber. This is the best Barbershop in Albany!!! I have tried 3 other Barbershops in Albany. Exceptional experience while at Duke’s I personally have been to Wes two times now and walked out satisfied both times. I can say from the guys getting out of the other chairs, that the other barbers are really good as well. One of the best barber shops I’ve been to in NY.

Really great place! I had Josh barber my hair. He gave me a sweet fade. Im really impressed with how they take the time to do a professional detailed cut. And the atmosphere is really great! They take both cash and credit. Pricey for a haircut. Walk-ins are welcome. Youre probably likely to have to wait a little bit, since theyre busy. Call and get an appointment, and youll be all set!! $25 for a cut is kinda ridiculous in my opinion though.

Great barbers. They cater to a modern style, and effectively listen to their customers needs. Ive had positive experiences here, and seen many great hair cuts on others, too. The shop has an old-time barbershop feel, selling cool products with personal merch from Duke himself. Hair products are well-curated and the barbers usually ask if you want to sample some product in your hair to see how it works for you.

I booked an appointment for 2 pm and had to wait 15 min. okay sure. but the young dude who cut me (about 56-58) did a terrible job. he missed spots and did not blend. I asked for a fade and this dude just put on the clipper attachments and shaved. the sharpness was noticeable on the sides of my head. not to mention the fact that i had cuts all around my hairline (front and back of head) does this dude not know how to use a blade?? the other barbers are pretty decent. very disappointed this is the service i got. this was about 2 months ago so idk if the kid still works there but he was in the chair immediately behind duke. also he rushed my cut to cut his friends cmon.

I tried this place, but honestly the guy that cut my hair(the one with big muscles) was very rude, he cut my hair so fast and with a lot of strength, I end with a really bad headache. And the haircut wasnt even worth it. Definitely I wont be there again.

Dukes is a really great shop.I did a walk in and there was only one person ahead of me with almost every Barbers chair being occupied. When the person ahead of me waiting stepped out for a phone call,Rob the Barber and Duke the owner waved me ahead though i was reluctant of taking another persons spot.The person ahead of me was seated very shortly afterward.Rob was straight to the point very professional and did a great job being personable and joking while engaged with the haircut.It was a really great experience.Walked away happy with what i wanted, a thank you and a business card.

Dukes portrays itself as a classic barber shop in the neighborhood, and depending on who you would like to cut your hair, making a reservation a day in advance is well recommended. Most of the time staff is pretty friendly if a little bro-ish, and cost is acceptable ($20 for a basic cut).

This is the worst shop I have ever been to. Im a full time student at suny albany and have been trying to find a new shop for when Im at school, and this is not the place. The guys dont actually pay attention to the cut you want and their equipment sucks. Their buzzers are awful, it feels as if they are plucking the hair out of your head one by one. Also, I got my haircut there twice and each time, they cut the back of my neck and caused me to bleed when they were shaving the back of my neck. They are in the business to make a quick buck because there prices are high for a terrible haircut.

Expect customer service to be right along par with all arrogant hipster millennials.
