These buildings get worse day by day.No light bulbs in the apartments. The elevator in the 55 building is out of order every other day. There are roaches everywhere. The mini gym has rats coming out of the air conditioning system (picture attached for proof). The parking lot is always full. The floors do not get cleaned often. The laundry rooms smell very bad. They are adjacent to the garbage bins, so when you go to do your laundry you end up smelling garbage for the entire duration. You also see dirt and hair in the laundry machines!Only 1 laundry machine per floor, so that’s only 1 laundry machine for 12 apartments. One of the managers (Terri) is very rude, unprofessional, speaks behind resident’s back. She doesn’t have empathy for the renters. All she cares about is business and hurrying up in signing the contracts, even of the renter asks for few more minutes to sign. As if the renter is going to run away lol.And so many more problems that I can list.Much better residential options out there.
Terrible. The maintenance people are nice. Thats about the only nice thing I can say about this apartment facility. The carpet is very cheap. Our dishwasher doesnt open all of the way.The fire alarm sets off way too easily, when I am making something on the stovetopmanagement tells you want to do with your space and stuff and what to buyTheres never an elevator. No storage closets to put your bulky items and unused furnitureNo recycling. No yard. The apartment is not well insulated and they control if the heat or AC is on. It can be a very cold day in September and youll only have the option of AC. This killed my fish. The garage fees are high (like $50 a month for 1 car)If you live in the 77 apartment building, you have to go across the parking lot to get your mail, even in the winter. They raise the rent every year by 10% since I have started to live here.Halls smell of marijuana: this is a smoke-free buildingAlmost no parking in the frontService elevator doesnt work (at least in 77)Loud frat house across the street.Just dont live in Akron.
I wrote a review just two months after i moved into Fir Hill towers and i promised to share my 12 months experience. Well, 12 months turns into 24 months lol. Fir Hill was a peaceful and secure place to call a home in so many respects. Teri Albright remain my favorite property manager. No matter what complains you come with, she will make sure you leave her office with a smile, or you call on the phone? well, you will end up conversing like you are speaking with your best friend, family member or someone to always look up to.In fact i have so much respect for all the hard working staffs at Fir Hill towers. They won my heart with their friendly and respectful manner of approaching people. Timely response for maintenance, and keeping the building clean at all time. I like it when they respect my no footwear policy in my apartment. In fact, i may be returning to Fir Hill after i left 5 months ago. I highly RECOMMEND FIR HILL TOWER FOR YOUR NEXT HOME.
BEST STUDENT APT. IN AKRON! Im graduating and will be leaving soon, but I have to say that Fir Hill was perfect! The building is older but the location cant be beat. The staff has always been on top of any issues, and even with COVID, they have stepped up cleaning and kept us updated. I will definitely recommend this place.
The management team particularly the lady who name begins with a T is very rude and unprofessional
This price is not worth the headache of dealing with the building staff, UNLESS you want to be close to UAkron campus. This is the end of winter and my heater went out yesterday. I report the problem with management to Terri, who has little empathy for renters (they mostly only care about the landlord). They wait a day and leave my boiler cavity OPEN (so I lost most of the heat I had in the apartment). They gave me a laughable space heater. I moved to the warmer room, but my apartment is now at 56F. They did fix it the next day. They will only fix something if its urgent (usually they leave other areas neglected), the washer and dryer are old and dont get maintained (outsourced), you pay extra for most things: washing (20usd a month min.), electricity (20-30 usd), heating, water, internet (50 usd/mnth), home insurance (12usd/month) youre looking at around 700-800 a month (increasing each year of course) if you want your own 1bd place.
Don’t move here. If you do, you will experience dog barking every minute in the building. Be prepared to dog jumping on your face every time you wait for elevator. Your car will be broken in even if you park in front of their office door and if you report this to the staff, you will be rudely locked outside of the office. Rats and flies are the common things you need to deal with.
It was home for me for almost two years in Akron, and also my first stay in United States. Great maintenance, awesome locality, nice view and balcony. Just couple of mins away from college, and rec center. Only issue I had was with the bed bugs and the cost for the big treatment. Unexpected penalties. Rest, great.
The staff is friendly and helpful when I need it! Its a great location also
Easily one of my favorite places I have stayed. Management is very friendly and quick to help with any problems. I had encountered no problems at all during my entire stay here. I was extremely happy with everything and have nothing but good things to say!
Great apartment building with amazing location. Everyone in the front office is warm, welcoming and answers all questions. Maintenance request and anything else needed is dealt with in a timely manner according to urgency and email are always answered within 24 hours! Love living here!
I love Fir Hill Towers. The price very good and the staff is always friendly. I have recomend people to live here i like it so much. I like its so close to a lot of things to. Thank you staff!
There’s a million great things I could say about Fir Hill Towers, but I’ll make this short!Fir Hill’s been an absolute pleasure to work with, and live with. Their maintenance staff always arrives when needed, and does the job right, their office staff is a delight to work with and is always happy to help or answer questions, and the building is always clean and well kept. I’d highly recommend living here.
Very nice building. Both the standard and upgraded apartments are well maintained and beautiful. The office staff is super helpful and made the whole process run smoothly. So glad I made the decision to call this place my home.
Awesome and friendly staff. The most amazing part is the timely response of their maintenance team for any fix or repair. Two Months into my rental now and I have no regrets. I promise to give you all an update after my 12months of staying in Fir Hill Apartment. I will highly recommend them if you yearn for a quiet and peaceful home. Check them out!☺️
Unprofessional & staff are very rude after you sign the lease! My daughter is having the worst experience there and I’m very disappointed! Any parent or individual contemplating on moving here please RECONSIDER!!!
On Wednesday, my roommates and I started hearing a smoke detector beeping and we reported it. We were told that it was from our neighbors apt who is out of town and that they would be sending someone up to fix it. Every day since then we have called to check on the progress and reiterate the issue and every day they have told us theyre sorry and that someone will be up until today they finally told us, in a rude manner, that they dont consider it an emergency and so it will probably not be fixed until at least monday. Not only is it a disturbance, but having a nonworking smoke detector next to your room is also an extreme safety concern, as there could flammable things in the apt!!! We are extremely disappointed in the management we previously had respect for and expect this issue to be handled asap.
Fir Hill Towers is an amazing living experience for students and faculty! It is a quiet retreat to return to after a hard days night. I recommend it heartily to anyone wanting convenience to all UAkron and downtown Akron events. Dr. Ramona Ortega.
Great place to live!
Five minute walk to The University of Akron and ten minute walk to Akron Downtown. Spacious apartments. 24/7 community gym. Great place to live. Wonderful staff who keep the building running and tidy all year long.
Very helpful and professional. Houston, Linda and their colleagues made the potential trauma of moving a very smooth experience. We are very grateful for their thoughtfulness, flexibility and generosity of spirit.
Terri is great. She’s always efficient and polite, and makes dealing with management a pleasure. Anytime there is some kind of a snag she always finds the simplest and best way to resolve it. I give her my unreserved recommendation
I have definitely made Fir Hill Towers my home. I moved in about 3 years ago and have loved it ever since. I live in the 55 building and enjoy being able to come downstairs to chat with the Leasing Office personal. They are always there to help in anyway they can and have become almost like family while going to school at The University of Akron. It is so nice to be able to feel comfortable in an apartment when I cannot be at my own home. I would highly recommend this place!
First off, I didnt live there, my boyfriend did, but I did stay a lot, and this is what I can say,a.) he called maintenance once because both of the fluorescent bulbs in the kitchen were out and it took them over 3 weeks to get it fixed, and when the maintenance guy got there he broke a bulb in the hallway, that would be fine if there werent still pieces of shattered glass in the hallway like 2 months later...b.) the pool is closed in the middle week, with no explanation or warning.c.) the parking here is the worst! there arent nearly enough spots and on weeknights the fir hill parking lot is full. if you are currently enrolled in the University of Akron, and you want to spend $40 for the overnight parking in the Akron lot next store then parking is a bit better for you.d.) they dont heat or cool the hallways, and the door frames are definitely not air tight, and that makes it harder to heat and cool your apartment.e.) to get in the doors you have a key fob, theres no code you can give your friends to get in and they dont have a good buzzer system, unless you have a home phone. you have to physically go down and let them in or they have to wait for someone else going in.all I have to say is the place is pretty overpriced, youre definitely paying for location, because the appliances are super cheap, or old, along with the pipes and everything else. the apartments dont come with dishwashers, the indoor parking is way overpriced, the walls have like 30 coats of paint on them, which may, or may not include lead paint and if anyone is talking in the hallway, or shuts a door a little to loud you definitely hear it.Save your money, move a little bit farther from campus and commute. because its honesty not worth the cost.
Ive been a resident here for just under six months and I have to say, this is a very peaceful and accommodating apartment. Unlike other apartments where Ive resided at, Fir Hill maintains a clean facility, they are very responsive to my residential needs, and they exhibit a great deal of professionalism from the entire staff. My living area is spacious. I have central air, I enjoy the convenience of on-site laundry machines, as well as nearby shopping centers. I have no complaints. A very complimentary apartment for a working professional like myself.
Just renewed for another year, the management was at least half of the reason, location being the other.Time after time, at any point in the day, I’ve been able to reach out to the entire team managing this property and receive above and beyond great support. Maintenance is always prompt and I’ve been used to waiting for days or even weeks at other places I’ve rented.Have already recommended to several friends, wonderful experience :)
Ive been at Fir Hill for two years now. The building is old but I can see the improvements they have made from last year maintenance does a great job if I have any issues in my apartment. I have noticed the new office staff is more friendly and helpful than the ones from last year. Overall its a good place to stay
Nice
My fiancé and I have lived here on two separate occasions, (previously and right now) both times were great. Maintenance is timely and friendly, the ladies in the office are nice, and this location is prime to the university, downtown, and just over the highway are places to eat and shopping. If you don’t mind a mix of people (regular working folks and college students) then check it out. The only thing that isn’t great is finding a parking spot when school is in session, you have to get home super early to get a spot.
Linda, in the front office, was very rude to me in our interaction. I was looking into moving here but will be continuing my apartment search elsewhere.
Ive lived here for about 3 months. A plus is the place is pretty cheap and the rooms are really nice. Downside is the staff can be a little mean sometimes but theyve gotten better. Another downside is the hallways (not sure exactly what it is) always smell awful. Not sure if it the people or the cleaners they are using but its fine once you get in to your room.
Great location and prices, Linda helped me and she was absolutely wonderful and answered everything that I asked, really made everything easy on me!
Excellent location! 5 minute walk to UA. Excellent staff! Members in charge of cleaning, maintenance, security, and people in the office are all friendly and professional! Only one drawback: the facility is old.
Best apartments to rent, if your studying in university of Akron. Has good parking system. Always one onsite receptionist near the main entrance. If security is your top priority I will highly recommend this place. One of the lowest $/sq feet place in town. Every floor has a closed garbage, washer dryer place. Has two lifts
Great location close to Akron u and Linda was super helpful and professional. Tks!
Please do not move here. There is no professional maintenance, from heater or air conditioner comes wed smoke smells, hot water issue in shower there are a lots of charges a side from rent. I live here can not wait to lease over so I move out of here too much charges no garages they ask another $45 for garage so you will pay more then your rent.
No Parking For UPS Pickup! Good Luck! Trying to Get Your Package!
I dont live here but if I could give zero stars I would. My friend lives here and this is what he has told me:At the time they moved in the apartment was infested with bed bugs thus they immediately reported bed bugs to management. Management went about treating the bed bugs 3 times. Management is now trying to charge him close to 2 grand for this treatment. I have advised him to get a lawyer involved and provided a recommendation. To sum it up, I would never stay here for the following reasons:1. They have bed bugs.2. They will charge you for the removal of the bed bug infestation multiple times even tho bed bugs existed before he moved in.
The women in the front office are unhelpful and rude about maintenance requests, and then the maintenance requests themselves dont get completed for weeks. It is apparent the office staff do not care about the residents being comfortable.
Decent apartment building.
Its pretty close to the university and downtown Akron, staff are always friendly and helpful. A bit expensive but overall worth it.
Pretty nice place to live. Everything is located super close. The girls downstairs are super rude. They never smile and they always get so bitchy when you need something from them. Its your job so get over it. If they had better staff the apartments would be a better place to stay at.PS the hallways stink and they never seem to do anything about it. Plus people dont even park in a spot and they block everyone in the morning.
Staff are highly inattentive, took forever to get my security deposit back, AND they charged me for the broken ceiling fan light that was broken since before I moved in!. I told them that the light sheath was straight up missing when I did my move in check a YEAR ago and they said oh yeah well have that fixed before you move in -it wasnt. Still broken when I left and they took it out of my security deposit refund.
Economical for living in and near Akron University. Students can afford
Beautiful building. ..great staff..new here
Very expensive and overrated apartments. Very old building that waste energy because their windows and balcony doors are leaking air all around. Its cheap apartments for a lot of money. However all the staff are top notch.
VERY CLEAN N SECURE
Loud and strongly smelling of mairijuana at all times of the day and night. Staff cares for neither issue.
Rarely enough parking, but its well located for the price
I have lived in the 77 building for 2 years and have signed for another. The rent and utilities including Internet is quite reasonable after splitting between 4 roommates. (Its around $376 per person). The management are very friendly and seem to put effort forward, but since we have moved in there have been many people that I have seen come and go, so Im not sure how much fun they are having in there, but all of our maintenance requests have been promptly delt with:1. Garbage disposal wasnt working, got a replacement.2. Dishwasher wasnt working, got a replacement.3. Caulking was falling apart in the bathtub, recaulked.4. Heater was leaking, got carpet completely shampooed and the problem was fixed as well as upgrading the fan that we had which made the heater work better. These were all completed within days of the issue arising. The laundry situation is pretty bad: $1.50 for washer and $1.50 for dryer. Dryer needs to be on high or clothes could come out wet. I realize that having washer/dryer in each room would add a bit of cost, but it makes me feel bad paying $3 for laundry for some reason. They are not usually being used but I did have to go to a different floor once or twice. The money also needs to be first put on a card and then inserted into the machine. Kinda lame. What I like most about these apartments is that I feel safe and at the end of the day thats the most important feature.
A nice neighborhood to live in.
I live here and it is secure and best quality apartment.
Rent here! Its awesome!
Nice apartments
Inside is clean but residents are nothing to be desired
The staff and other residents make this place pretty terrible.
Nice place
Near AKRON U but expensive
Out Dated
Never been there
