Had someone written an honest post like this back in 2020, we would have definitely picked a different pool builder.We debated for months now on posting this because my wife and I try our best to give businesses the benefit of the doubt before we give a bad review. AND... we feared retaliation. Well, at this point we are fed up and confident in discouraging anyone from using American Pools (AP). If you have even minimal expectations, Im certain AP will disappoint. We truly dont want anyone else to have to deal with what our family has for the past year--especially not at the price we paid.So here goes: From start to finish our experience with AP has been a nightmare. Except before we signed the contract and wrote a check of course... they were great early on. But after that: Unorganized, shotty work, horrible attention to detail, extremely messy, disrespectful to our property and very unreliable.We paid a premium for our pool and we dont know where to begin on how disappointed we are with the process and outcome. We are now one year (Yes one year!) since the pool project began and eight months past due on the promised completion date of January 1, 2021. AP is still yanking us around with excuses. Even worst, they collected almost 90% of the payments back in November 2020 (we learned our lesson). Then they began neglecting our project and moved on to other peoples contracts. So basically we paid to stare at a very expensive hole in the ground for almost a year while they used the money to start other projects. This unethical business practice is called Robbing Peter to pay Paul.Just to be fair, as of July 2021, our pool is about 90% complete, but only because we contacted city officials and the ROC for help. Problems still persist and unfortunately we are now relying on the ROC to make sure things are finished correctly. All this only after being lied to and deceived too many times to count.If you are up in the air on hiring these guys for any work at all, I recommend digging around a little online, contacting the city or reaching out to the ROC before you proceed. If you are in the same predicament as me, file an ROC complaint ASAP. Dont hesitate like we did or youll be in 2022 before you know it. If they dont fix the problem timely and correctly, you can apply for the ROC recovery fund and have a more credible builder do the work. Other than that, a lawsuit is the only other route.**Note: This review really is putting it lightly. If American Pools decides to challenge us on this platform by blaming us or making lousy excuses for their unethical standards, Ill elaborate, post more photos and identity specifics and let the public decide. Either way, Im sure more bad reviews will come.We are done with letting AP hold our investment hostage. Lance, its all on you and your investors to fix this now. Cant blame Oliver anymore since he left AP. We are reasonable people, but any agreements hereafter wont be under your stipulations.

We moved here from California recently, buying a home and this company came highly recommended by our realtor. We regret not doing further research as this has been the worst experience EVER. Lance and Oliver (who apparently has left the company now) talked down about other companies and really were wonderful until after we made the first payment and signed the contract. After that, it has been a struggle to get any communication or get them to follow through with any commitments. This has been our welcome to Arizona ...We echo both reviews Jon C and Robbie Walker wrote with exact experiences. We signed all contracts in late October, with promises to complete in February. The continued lack of communication, missed meetings and schedules and outright lies is unbelievable. We too, have moved to the ROC to help us given all the issues. Please, please, please do your research as we cannot recommend this company to anyone given our experience.Please note: When we read Jon C s review it was as if we wrote it ourselves. The pictures looked eerily the same - lack of quality of work, workers do not respect your property or you, they leave a mess, and really just dont care if they dont meet deadlines, return calls or disrespect you or your property. This has by far been the worst experience I have ever had with any contractor. Lance continues to make promises and commitments that never are met.

Stopped into the store across the bowling lanes to see if I could get a quote on a new build pool. Made an appointment for the following Friday for 11:30. Lance told me to give them a 30 min buffer and joked that they weren’t like other places that make you wait all day before coming.Day of the appointment, waited for almost 2 hours and no one came. I even called their number and left messages for Oliver inquiring where they were. No answer and no one showed, so I went to run errands at the store. Lance called me when I was at the store saying he was at my house. I said the appointment was for 11:30, but he said that his calendar showed 11:30-1:30 availability. I thought I heard wrong when I was at the shop, so I quickly finished my errand and went home to meet him.Lance saw the backyard and took some notes on his phone (size of pool, filter, etc), but he never took any measurements. He told me that they would have the quote to me by the end of the weekend. Come Monday, there was no quote, nor after a week. Called Lance to follow-up and he said that he initiated the quote request and didn’t know what happened and that he would check on it. It’s been 3 weeks now, so this ship has sailed.I know that pool contractors are busy now due to the pandemic, but if you cannot accommodate a quote just let me know so that I don’t waste my time.RESPONSE TO OWNER: I think the key thing you are missing about my review is the lack of follow through from your end. YOU (as the business and your employees) told me I would get a quote before the weekend was out. Nothing. Followed up and was told the quote was initiated and would get back to me about where it was. Three weeks later and still nothing. I’m currently going with a builder who can’t build until August and that’s fine with me because the time of the build wasn’t the most important, but the customer service. I’m all about accountability and there was none here, so I can only imagine how this translates to your overall business practice.

Oliver and Lance are the friendliest and most helpful, informative individuals. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with them and the planing of our pool and spa. I highly recommend American Pools.

From beginning to end they’re very unresponsive do not show up when they say they are going to do horrible work. Each time you give them a check you don’t see them for a week or 10 days. They don’t return phone calls they don’t return text if you’re looking for somebody to build you a pool or to install one look elsewhere.Oliver look who signs the check for the Tuttle install. The name would be as above. I have to say at this point no you do not do great work.

They set up an appointment with me after I told them what I needed. I live in Phoenix and their office is located in Chandler maybe 10 to 15 miles from me. Not only did they not show up, they didnt have the courtesy to notify me. I emailed them and then they responded that they looked at my address was in Phoenix which they had and they said that they were not taken any new work in Maricopa County. They could have told me that from the beginning. will never use nor will I recommend them.

I have lived in the same house for 20 years and my pool has never looked better. They have been cleaning it for just over 2 years and its better then ever before. I had Oliver and Lance put in a handrail for us to assist us going in and out. 4 months later and it still is just as sturdy as the day it was installed.

My wife asked a quote to built a pools two persons show up not helpful at all, nobody did any suggestions to my wife or at least took any measures, just told her a quote will be email next day she call 2 days later to asked for went to voice mail we got it last friday over 31,000 dlls, higher then over places, I call it Monday to asked if someone can explained to us more on details whats cover on the quote the person I talked told me he will be at my house Tuesday 22 September between 5:30 and 6:00 pm nobody show up. Im very disappointed by the reviews, I saw on Google, thought I was calling a professional business who cares help. Thank you for a quick respond Im not question or compare your work also I checked my cameras nobody shows at my front door today I was here waiting for you.

American Pools has been a consistent benefit to our pool needs for nearly two years. Every question, concern, and negotiation has been handled respectfully and with our best interests in mind. In the rare occasions when we have had to confront an employee, the American Pools management has quickly responded to our concerns and dealt professionally with the situation. We will continue to use this company as they strive for perfection in the services they provide, and the customer relations they offer.

Leaving this review for my mother.She contacted them to pebble & tile her pool. I can say they did a fantastic job. For starters, they are very knowledgable & communicate very well. Any question she had, they could answer, anytime she called, they answered. They can also work easily with a budget. Shes been wanting to do something but it was, in my opinion, plain. They came up with a solution to make her pool more inviting & fun so to say. I would recommend them all day. Theyre in & out & do a fantastic job. Plus, my mom said they guarantee their work. Way to go guys, you honestly rock & I dont know where wed be at with our pool if it wasnt for you!

They worked on my equipment. The new pump they installed a month ago is running great. I have pool service through them too & so far this summer, everythings been good.

A company that does good work and stands behind the warranty they offer is hard to find. I am very happy with american pools and I reccomend them to anyone looking for a pool company. Lance is very helpful and Oliver is always quick to respond.

American pools took my run down hole in the ground and turned it into a summer get away. The process was smooth and straight forward.There was a couple delays but the project was still completed in an acceptable timeframe, and with 5 star results.I recommend american pools for any and all your pool needs.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT,WORST PROFESSIONALISM,NO ACCOUNTABILITY,NOTHING ELSE LEFT TO SAY.

American Pools did an entire remodel of our existing pool and patio. We thought they did a fabulous job and even finished a few days earlier than the estimate. They brought over many selections of tiles, surface materials and patio colors to choose from. They have followed up quickly with any questions we had. In fact, they did such a good job that we decided to switch our twice weekly cleaning service to them. They provide electronic notification immediately after cleaning and also let us know exactly what they did. We couldn’t be happier with the final product and the service provided by American Pools.

Most Unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. After paying over $5000 for a Pool Heat Pump and installation, I called when my thermostat went out. First call was answered and I was told my unit was indeed under warranty, and a claim would be filed with the manufacture.Three weeks, a half dozen phone calls, several text messages, and emails American pools refused to respond ! Apparently they dont believe in honoring their work or covering warranties ? I had to contact the manufacture who sent another company out in 3 days to repair my unit. If your looking to throw your money away, these are the guys to call. Once paid for the initial work they disappear, and you will never hear from them again, regardless of how hard you try, YOU WILL BE IGNORED.You have been warned !

Our financing firm has worked with several of American Pools customers and assisted those customers in getting funded for American Pools projects. We have heard nothing but high praises of American Pools and worked with happy customers since the start.

My outflow pipe from filter assembly was leaking. Took a pic, texted Oliver, and within minutes had a response, with a job quote following shortly. I said go, Oliver contacted Jimmy, and Jimmy showed up 2 hours later. This is in Yuma, on a Friday! You can wish all your life for a same day response in Yuma. And just dream about same day service. Jimmy was smooth sailing from start to finish. He showed up with a smile on his face, explained what he would do, and then got on with it. Very timely and very efficient in his work. Gave me a thumbs up when he was finished, and the problem was resolved. Same day request, service call, estimate, and job completion. Cant ask for more than that!

Hired them for a pool replaster, paint our concrete, and redo our tiles. Coomunication was poor, we hardley knew when people would be there and when certain steps would be done. We had to constantly remind them to put in the new parts we paid for. The paint started peeling a week after it was done. They didnt finish caulking around our tile so we are stuck finishing up their work.

We requested quotes on a remodel of our pool which is 34 years old. My son told us about American Pools. Oliver was on running late for our appt but called to let us know. We requested quotes from 3 other pool companies but only received one other. Oliver showed us variety of tiles and colors for cool deck. They had the lowest quote, which is very important to retired people! He said give him 30 days. It ended up being a couple days more because of the 4th of July. We love our pool. Oliver was available for any questions that came up. We are having them clean our pool for a month. So far, its been great.We wont hesitate to recommend them for your remodel.

We are almost to the 2nd phase of our pool. They have been respectful of our dogs and neighbors with all their equipment. They clean up nightly and have been responsive to our needs.

Well, they were good when they started the business...but, after over 2 yrs, and Adan leaving (pool tech), it would appear they are hiring people right off the street. Physically as well as training, purely incompetent! I had to Train the new guy (on my System), and then got hurt feelings when I told him he couldnt have his wife come on my property (liability-if she would get hurt issue)...So, in saying all this, THEY DUMPED ME.I feel generous in giving them 3 stars. They are also trying to run the business from Phoenix, and NOT Well, at that!Ive found B&B to be, so far, to my needs, much BETTER!!Good luck to all of you...needing GOOD Pool Servicing ....

We discovered American Pool early last year when our insurance company sent them out to repair a pump. The local manager Oliver came out with a tech and solved the problem and a couple of others along the way. We then discussed the sad state our inground spa was in. It had been built by a local company in 2005 and the surface was deteriorating along with other issues. Oliver said his company could take care of the problem and we agreed on a price and American Pool went to work. They did a great job and the spa looks great again. We now even have a railing to hold onto when we enter it. Everything was done exactly when they said it would be for the price they said. We now coninue to use them for pool service and maintenance.We continue to have American Pool service our pool. They have shown up on time most weeks, but it seems when the tech gets behind we get left out til the next day. This has happend more than once and without explaination until I questioned the tech. These companies burn thru service people and thats a fact. All I ask is that you commit to the same day every week, period. As far as service goes they brush, clean and test for chemicals. I have requested some maintenance but that has so far it has not come to pass. The only response to my last request was an invoice which showed up by email literally minutes after they request was submitted. I questioned it right away and that is the last I heard. That was over a month ago and still no maintenance. Usually after they leave I have to hose down the deck around the spa to clean up.I have tried to be honest here but it is frustrating.

This is the only company Ive seen that emails a photo of my pool after each service with a list of actions taken and chemicals used. Also, they do minor repairs as part of the standard fee. Other companies we used would call about any repair and schedule someone else to fix it for a separate (and costly) fee.

This company is SO unprofessional and will lie to you. they gave a time frame of when the pool would be done and would keep pushing it because they “didn’t have the material yet” which is bs. i have called multiple times nobody answers, no ones even at the office. but of course they still demand customers to pay more than what they should for their deposit and “materials” that never showed up.
