I was issued a citation after one warning and wanted to be educated about a few things and the officer I had to deal with decided she couldn’t handle that and hung up the phone on me after I was puzzled as to why she had a problem answering my questions. She then proceeded to threaten prosecuting me If I didn’t show up during the times that she was available. My schedule did not coincide with hers so she clearly had a huge issue and couldn’t handle it. I had to call back again and deal with the supervisor. He forced himself to deal with me and faked pleasantries, but he understood what he needed to do. Rude customer service. I work in it every day and they could learn a thing or two.
We took our dog who we adopted 2 years ago. You can tell how the staff love the animals. They take very good care of them. I think everyone should go through there.
Never helpful. Call about neighbors dog being in our yard everyday. They dont do nything about it. Call about the neighbors dog barking for hours on end, they say theyre on their way, and never actually come.
Process was easy Recommend more people to do it.
I called about a likely rabid raccoon in my neighborhood. They said they wouldnt do anything because they dont want to put our officers at risk. I asked why they were not concerned about the risk to the community. No useful answer. They said theyd come get a dead animal. I pointed out that a dead raccoon poses no risk to the community, but a rabid one does. More words, but it just sounded like, blah, blah, blah.... Of course, I could shoot the wretched creature, but then they would send someone out to pick me up. Irony anyone?
I stop in weekly to give treats to the dogs. Cages are maintained, with organized work and support areas. I always see water in the dogs bowls and adoption information cards on each pen. The staff always seems to be working hard at something - its a never ending process here. All shelters are harsh environments, but these folks do a great job of taking care of the animals and maintaining this facility. A+ for their efforts. Please consider adopting before buying from a pet store or a mill.
They genuinely care about the animals in their care, and want to find them all homes. Additionally, they want to do whatever they can to protect and help the animals in their care. The facility is clean every time I have ever been there, and staff is always nice and helpful.
I adopted an older cat here a few weeks ago and I love her so much!!! She fits in great with my 3 other furr babies. Everyone here was really friendly and they seem like they take good care of the animals.
I got my sweet girl here over a year ago. I left a brief description of size and breed(s) with the facility. They called me when they had a match. The staff was friendly and helpful.*9-14-17. Several months ago I left another breed specific request for future intakes. Today I got a call. They had an owner surrender that met my parameters was available. I could hear some excitement in the voice of the person I spoke to. They genuinely cared about finding this dog a home. Sadly, after an hour of weighing my current financial situation, including recovering from recently paying a unexpected $360 vet bill for my #1 fur baby, I had to make the hard decision to decline this adoption. I am confident that pup will find a home because of these employees. I give 5 more stars to this agency today for going above to find homes for the animals. *****
The wind broke my fence last night and my dog escaped. Hes very high anxiety and my dogs chew each others collars off so he cant wear a collar. I called animal control in a panic. The female officer I spoke with was amazing. She gave me tips like leaving worn clothes outside to help him find my scent and kept me updated on their pursuit of him across 35. She even called me back to tell me she saw my missing pet post on Facebook and confirmed with the officer out in the field that it was in fact my dog when there were sightings. It took a few hours, but I found him, he had hopped the fence into the dog park (which is amazing because he hates the dog park with all his anxiety issues). So many people I didnt even know called with tips and even went out searching. My dog is home safe and unharmed and I cant thank you guys enough for the roll you played in that.
Most of their Animal Control officers have questionable literacy. I can only hope they are able to save animals. This shelter is also stuck in the 80s and chooses euthanizing instead of community outreach. They want to fine $$ people instead of educate, which does nothing.
My indoor/outdoor cat got caught in a live trap and animal control picked him up. Hes neutered, chipped, and up to date on shots. Thankful for the chip, They called me on Saturday to let me know they have him. Unfortunately I was out of state and was unable to come get him. I asked the officer who called if I could have one of my friends come pick up my cat. She said yes. When my friend got there, they said no, they cant release the cat to anyone but me. So I called them back and wanted to verify because I dont want my cat there for long. I asked if I was able to come get him the next day when Im back in town and they said yes, but its $10 extra per day that hes here...even though I have someone in the parking lot who knew my cats name AND MY information ready to pick up my cat, but they wont release him, but theyll still charge me extra. Oh wait, I can email them a copy of my ODL AND a notorized, certified letter that someone else can get my cat. Im not complaining that my cat got picked up. Im thankful that whoever caught him in their trap called animal control rather than kill him or something, but come on! There has to be other options available for situations like this. Where am I going to find a notary on a Saturday in another state!? Before animal control closes!?
These folks have a thankless job of dealing with animals all day long who want nothing more than to be elsewhere. When you take an animal there they make it clear that they cant be sure what is going to happen, but they seem to be caring people and the choices for where to be taking strays to be dealt with are few. SICSA wont take animals from Greene County and 10th Life is a fate worse than death.
Beware of adopting animals here. They keep sick cats that are obviously sick to anyone with eyes mixed in with “healthy” animals. My daughter adopted an older cat and was told he “had caught a cold from the air conditioning.” She felt horrible for the poor thing and immediately adopted and took him to the vet. He had a horrible eye infection, ear mites, an an upper respiratory infection. She surprised me with a kitten that we had for less than a week and had to rush to the emergency vet to treat for an upper respiratory infection. The idea of adopting a shelter animal is wonderful, but not if they aren’t being properly cared for while at the shelter or if the shelter doesn’t isolate sick animals to prevent spreading sickness. And at least be honest with people that are looking to adopt, they could unknowingly spread sickness to other pets at home by being lied to about the health of the animal they are adopting.
I love this place and the staff! I usually go in on days I dont feel well because I like to spend time with the animals. They remembered a cat that I adopted months ago from them and asked how it was going. Plus I dont feel like they charge too much to adopt because I have been to other shelters that charge way more than they do to adopt
New management is doing a great job of adopting out the animals. Its nice to see the follow-up stories of how the pets are doing too.
Found dog was relinquished to this shelter with contact info. If the owner was not found, the person who found it wanted to adopt. Multiple call and contacts were made for updates and communication. After the 72 hour hold, dog was euthanized with no chance for adoption even though an adopter was confirmed. Imagine the feeling when a lost dog sign with this family pets photo was found in Clark County. The family had been searching in Clark County. Devastating news and sad outcome for a pet without a voice. Pathetic waste of tax dollars.
Called animal control to come get a pit in my backyard under the impression I could legally adopt him after 72 hours. He was euthanized due to falling a temperament test. I spent hours with this dog on my porch nothing was wrong with him just scared and looking for guidance. Next time if the dog doesnt have a collar Ill just claim him. Better than being sentenced to death. Guess I thought this was a no kill shelter I must have heard wrong. Dont send dogs here.
DO NOT TAKE ANY LOST DOGS TO THIS PLACE. DO NOT DO IT. I am so appalled with this place. We took a beautiful dog there that we found lost. She was a little shy and took some warming up to but afterwards, was sweet and smart and she cuddled with us and was licking our faces after knowing her for a few hours. We took her to this place to see if we could find her owner, thinking we were doing good by her. They told us they would hold her for 3 days before putting her for adoption. We wanted to adopt her so we called on day 3 and they had already euthanized her for being skiddish. EVERY DOG, INCLUDING MY OWN FAMILY DOG, IS SKIDDISH AND SCARED WHEN THEY GO TO A POUND! Are you kidding me? Its like they dont even work with animals!!! She was such a sweet dog and could have made a wonderful pet and now all over her potential is lost. Our family is devastated as we even named her. DO NOT TAKE A LOST ANIMAL HERE. THIS IS NOT A NO-KILL SHELTER.
Not professional, rude customer service, including manager. Been repeatedly calling about vicious, neglected pitbulls that they will not attend to help with.
I have been trying to adopt a little dogI have went to get little dogI had to take him backHe was great babyHe makes a great dog for some oneGot since in yardHe is just a little puppyHe try to bit some one
It seems odd they cant do anything about feral cats running astray in the neighborhood, its not that I dislike cats its just I dont like them crapping in my yard and me stepping in it.
I would give this place no stars if I could. My dog I had bit and broke the skin on my hand. I called them thinking they would be able to help then got slammed with a 100 dollar hold fee. went to get him after ten days and they never have the vet check him FOR TEN DAYS. Didnt inform me that it wasnt,t just 100 dollars like the lady catcher said but it was 140. Since when do we pay the dog catcher to come get animals? and then they told me that its my fault I dont have the money because I didnt know it wasnt just 100 bucks. This place only cares about money and not the animals at all, and you would think they would work with you but no why would they? they think people are money bags.
Great place
Very rude. Doesnt help with anything over the phone. Putting down a dog that doesnt deserve it. Owner has tried to pick up the dog but they wont let him go.
They keep calling me threatening a citation if I dont renew my dog license. The problem? That dog died and Ive notified them at least twice. Government incompetence at its best. When they screw up they dont get into trouble but I have to deal with the threat of a citation.
Pleasant staff very considerate and showed concern for dog
Went to get dog tags after getting a letter in the mail saying I was late for buying them. The people at the front desk were helpful and super understanding when I talked to them about being late for paying.
I went back in August adopted a beagle. The whole team was amazing and very helpful.
How do they even get 2.5 stars? Place is terrible and money hungry. Have several cats that belong to MO-in-law who had alzheimers and cannot care for them anymore. they require $60 PER CAT to take them in!!!! What??
My cat got out of the house, so I called them to make sure they didnt have her. The lady wouldnt even let me describe her. She said I had to come in and look. Shes black with long fur. Its not hard to glance at the cats to check for one with long black fur.
AwfulI have filed a lost pet report and physically been to the shelter. The shelter staff refuse to answer questions over the phone and repeatedly state that someone from Fairborn must pay $30.00 to turn in an animal.
Was about to get a kitten. Called and asked if they had kittens still available and they said yes. Went on the same day and they lied. No kittens at all
This place is awful all they care about is money not your dogs be warrned do not take animals here
Poor business dealings, horrible management!!!
Theres a raccoon in my backyard that Im fairly certain is rabid and they want me to catch it myself and then theyll come and get it.
Skunk problem in neighborhood, both times I called it was on a Sunday, left message on voicemail, both times they were here within couple of hours to get skunk then 2nd time a possum out of trap
Animal Control just refuse to take my missing animal report because it was a cat.
The worst animal shelter i know..
Rude ass woman in truck
They will give you citations for your dog even with no proof that it is your animal that actually was out. So if someone calls about your animal even though it wasnt your dog be prepared for a ticket -they do not care if your innocent or not. They dont care - as long as they are making their money off innocent people, It truly isnt fair for the animals either....ITS A JOKE THERE!!!!
