While I’m disappointed that vaxxed and masked owners still can’t come in the building with our pets, overall I was very pleased with the care here. We had an emergency last week and this was the first vet out of half a dozen I called that had any availability that day. I was warned of a potentially long wait, but given the circumstances, I felt they were incredibly prompt. The tech who brought my pup inside was genuinely concerned about my girl, and Dr. Gordon was caring and detailed in her call with her diagnosis, treatment plan, and things to watch for. My pup is on the mend and I’m so grateful!
After calling several Vet hospitals in the area., VCA Woodbridge was the only facility that said they had room and time to accommodate my dogs urgent needs. I drove an extra 15-20 miles to get to their facility. Hopefully I will not need to but if the situation arises, I will call them first! They are so professional and caring. They came out to my car several times to keep me posted on my wait time and the status of my dog. They are a class act. So thankful for them!
While the staff were great, I’m extremely disappointed with the the clinic. I took my dog in for a wellness exam and to get his prescriptions filled, as we just moved back after being stationed overseas. The vet recommended a blood panel, which of course as a concerned pet parent, I did. However, I was never told the cost. I was absolutely shocked when I received a call that the bill was $450 for one $50 prescription and a blood panel. I asked about the policy on letting patients know the cost of treatment before it’s completed. Unfortunately, I’m not sure there is one. Be aware of this when going.
I cant say enough good things about this hospital. Our chihuahua, Isa, was very very sick. As soon as we pulled up, we called and they answered immediately. As soon as I told them what was going on with her, three people rushed out to grab her immediately to read her vitals and see how dehydrated she was. They were incredibly prompt and I could tell they genuinely cared about her. The entire staff was so kind. The kindness helps so much when you are stuck in a situation with a sick pet. Dr. Williams was so great too. She explained everything so well and she did everything she could to solve the problem and took into consideration that we were on a budget. This hospital gave us peace that Isa would be okay, she is home resting now and is doing better. Thank you VCA woodbridge animal hospital for your tender care for Isa!!!! We truly thank you.
We took our savanna cat who is 18 weeks old today when she was bit by a dog. When we got there I realized I forgot my wallet at home and only had my check book. They wouldn’t do anything until I prepaid for the ER visit upfront. After getting it paid they told me a check is fine. Okay, so then for the next 3 hours the we’re calling me asking if the $450 for X-rays is good I approved it each time and each time they wanted me to apply for the pet care credit card however the website was not working. So after the receptionist called us and told us everything was good to go but they never did anything. So to find out the only thing the dr was worried about was money. They flat out said they were concerned about funds. Came to Virginia vet center in Fredericksburg and got us in and out no problem and got Harley taken care of!!!!
Amazing critical care! My baby was barely responsive and they - Dr.Spies and licensed tech Jess - rushed right to ICU, expertly found what was wrong, and fixed her! After all the incredible intensive care they gave her she was able to walk out on her own and is happy and comfortable at home!
Euthanizing a pet is never easy but I wanted to give a big, big thank you to Dr. Wilson and my technicians Aimee and Victoria. Everything was done quickly and efficiently and with a overwhelming sense of compassion. Marissa, the receptionist, stayed with me the whole time and allowed me to cry all over her and Judy, my other receptionist, was very sweet at checkout. A hard decision was made easier with this crew of wonderful people. 😊
The vets and vet-techs at VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital are rockstars! We had to say goodbye to our beloved Jojo yesterday, the whole staff at VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital were incredibly supportive and as hard of an event this has been, I feel grateful my Jojo was in their capable hands. Their compassion and understanding of how difficult this has been and their communication helped us tremendously. Thank you.
On Monday January 11, 2021 we had to say goodbye to our Old Man. My heart has never hurt so much. Tyson was 14 years old and truly, truly a one of a kind fur baby. Dr. Kaitlin Wilson and the entire staff on duty that night showed an amazing amount of compassion and care. In todays world you really dont find that very much anymore. We will ALWAYS miss Tyson and I am beyond thankful that he completed this lifes journey and began the next surrounded by love. Thank you all for doing all you could for our Old Man.
Although I had to say goodbye to my boy Harley today, the staff was very professional and supportive. From the nurses who listened to his weeks-long history, the front desk staff who were patient and kind, and Dr. Williams, who listened to my concerns and figured out what was actually going on, I am grateful that he is now at peace and no longer in pain. While my heart is broken, they were supportive and kind, and for that, I am grateful.
The Vet staff is FABULOUS. The office staff, not.Had an appt for 11:30 and as we live nearby, I called at 11:20 to see if they were running in time and would be ready for us. The person who answered the phone said that would be fine. We arrive. They let two patients in ahead of us, finally getting us into a room at noon - not only did Nikki not apologize, she didn’t even speak to us - just weighed the dog and showed us the room. Later when I called back to ask for a copy of the invoice (they just texted us a total), another person answering the phone seemed annoyed at the request. The vet assistant was mortified when we told her what happened, as was the vet, who acknowledged that training the reception staff was an ongoing challenge. They also gave us a 10% discount for the inconvenience.Too bad, really. It gives off an incredibly bad impression of a terrific vet staff.
My fiancé and I took out dog here in early June for the emergency hospital. Staff was kind and thorough with our dogs examination. They recommended us the other VCA hospital in Merrifield to take our dog as we later found out had Lymphoma. Our dog recently passed away this weekend and we took him there after he passed. Staff once again was compassionate and professional. They were helpful with the process of filling out the paperwork for the cremation. They even send us a condolences card with a lock of our dogs fur.Highly recommend this place!
I had to bring my dog late last Wednesday night After she got into the trash and possibly ate some non food items that could make her sick. My regular vet and the first two 24 hour vets were closed so I was relieved to find that VCA Woodbridge was open. The office staff were friendly and knowledgeable, as were the nurses and the vet who took care of my dog. There was a wait, but that is to be expected at an ER vet, especially if your animal is not in critical condition. The cost was higher than my regular vet, but that’s to be expected since it was after hours and an emergency. It ended up be cheaper than I thought it would be though, so it was not outrageous. The vet and office were very honest and didn’t try to do anything unnecessary. My only complaint is that the bill I received was not itemized, the charge simply said “healthcare services”, but overall I had a great experience with this vet and would recommend them.
Waited for an hour to pickup my dog, and when he was brought out, they forgot one of his medications... So I had to wait another 15-20 min... I can understand that they can get busy, but at some point the busy excuse is unacceptable. An hour and 20 minutes to pickup a dog is really unacceptable. As for the care he received, I cant complain... They did a good job with treatment, but their communication was lacking.
5 stars for the Vets. 1 star for the clinic management.Cost for emergency Vet care $4159PROS:1. Initial visit: The vets that were involved with my cats surgery were excellent and kept me well informed.CONS:1. After waiting over 30 minutes to pick up my cat even after calling ahead, the person that brought my cat out to the car when we picked him up just put him in the car, handed my the instructions and started to walk away. I had to ask for the cone. He had to run back in to get it. No explanation of instructions. My cats rear half was soaking wet and barely towel dried which made the ride home very uncomfortable for him.2.No response to email requesting the rx for the special diet food they put my cat on.3. Final Straw: When trying to schedule an appt for removal of staples I could not get an appt for a week after the staples were due to come out. They said I could take him to the emergency clinic which would cost $139 for the emergency fee. I declined and said I would remove them myself. They called back and stated the manager said I could bring him in on Monday but it was advised to bring him in today because it had been 14 days. But of course no guarantee I would not be charged the $139 emergency fee. I stated had taken 2 loose staples out already and was told there would definitely be a charge because the Vet would have to look at the incision.Dont they have to look at the incision anyway?Im extremely disappointed in the communication. Knowing now that they cannot accommodate a surgery follow up related appt in a timely manner, I surely would have called sooner. However, since they know their scheduling timeline, THEY should have had me make the appt when I picked him up to ensure the staples would be removed timely. This is not the kind of follow up care I expect.Had it not been for number 3 I would have rated them a 4. It would have been a 5 if they had responded to my request for the prescription.I have been in healthcare myself for over 25 years. There is an obligation to our patient to include surgical follow up care.Lesson learned for me at their expense because I will not be back with any of my pets.
What an awesome emergency vet clinic! They have twice seen me when VVC Fredericksburg turned me away in EMERGENCY situations. They saved my cats life by unblocking him and saw my dog after his scary seizure. Thank you for your hard work and dedication and love for animals and friendly caring manner with their humans.
I do not recommend VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital. The staff are not helpful and over the course of two visits failed to keep me informed of their availability which then prevented me from following the course of care recommended by the VCA Woodbridge vet. If you have an emergency, go somewhere else.
I brought my dog Daisy in after our family veterinarian would not see her. She was having seizures and suffering with extreme pain. The staff treated her and us! After three days we were able to bring Daisy home. The staff was amazing! They even called us to follow up the day after. I would highly recommend this emergency vet clinic.Thank you VCA woodbridge animal hospital for helping Daisy!Lori Feldman
They were not caring to Marvin. We switched vet clinics after his first visit. They wrote awful things about our cat for our new vet. Since they became VCA, not the same experience. Our new clinic is caring and gentle with our cats.
I called today 8/19/21 around 4pm for an appt and Lindsey picked up the phone. I was asking questions because I have never taken my pet there before and Lindsey had this sarcastic tone of voice and kept laughing at me like I was stupid when I asked simple questions like what is the wait time, I let her know my pet is breathing funny, and if My husband can go inside with our pet and she kept making it seem like these were stupid questions and giggling the whole time like I should know their work protocol and as if I’m a regular patient who should know everything. So rude and what a turn off. She needs to work on her customer service because no one wants to take their pet to a place with that type of attitude especially without being able to go inside with our pets. How can we trust and feel secure leaving our pets with staff who have a bad attitude like Lindsey? Who knows how they will treat the animals? It starts in the frontline and if your staff in the front is bad it makes the whole hospital look bad so you won’t be having our business. Without patients you won’t have a job. Sorry to remind you but this is common knowledge for all hospitals and companies.
I brought my cat in for an emergency on 7/11/21 at 11:30am for vomiting/not eating/not acting right. When I hadnt heard anything by 12:15pm, I called back and the receptionist/tech was very snippy and said theres other pets ahead of him right now and hes stable. Fast forward to 2pm, got another tech on the phone who was also very snippy and couldnt give me a reliable update. At this point I was convinced he wasnt even triaged. A few minutes later, I guess she was talking about me, because a nurse called me back (the one that triaged him) and gave me a better update and reassured me that he was being monitored. Fast forward to 5:30pm. The doctor FINALLY saw him (6 hours after I dropped him off). They said 20-30min to do X-rays. Didnt get a call back for over an hour. After a short conversation, it was determined he was good to go home after receiving fluids and anti-nausea medication. I found that a leaf off of my plant was missing when I got home--a plant that I didnt know was toxic to cats. I immediately called back, they had me call poison control, because the doctor wasnt familiar with that plant. All in all--that day cost me the $140 emergency fee, $565 in treatment fees, and $75 to talk to poison control. For this next part, keep in mind that they said the emergency fee was good for 24 hours, but they didnt say WHEN the 24 hours started...Fast forward to the next day. I call first thing (7am) to give an update and talk to a tech, and I was told by the receptionist to WAIT until the tech gave ME a follow up call. I had concerns at this point--my kitty was eating, but had penal discharge, and also had difficulty swallowing. Fast forward to about 12:15pm--I get a text message from a tech to tell me to call if I still had concerns (not even a phone call!). She couldnt answer ANY of my questions, so I had to call poison control AGAIN, who advised me to take him back for another evaluation. This is now about 1pm. THINKING that the 24 hours STARTED when the vet ACTUALLY saw my kitty, I called back to see if I could bring him back. I had a gut feeling, so I asked if I would be charged that emergency fee--apparently, that emergency fee is only good from the time you DROP OFF YOUR PET (!) the day prior.Lets break this down--pet wasnt seen for a doctor after being at the clinic for 6 hours; then this morning, I was being proactive, and was told to WAIT until a vet tech called to follow up, who CONVENIENTLY calls AFTER my 24 hours are up. The person I spoke to at 7am didnt care that I still had concerns at that point. NOW its a 3-4 hour wait, and theyre going to charge me ANOTHER emergency fee, compared to THIS MORNING, when I CALLED. TECHNICALLY my 24 hours are not up since the pet wasnt seen by a doctor until 5:30pm yesterday.I understand that vets and the staff are stretched thin. I was a vet tech at one point in my life too! I understand theyre underpaid, in tons of debt, and understaffed. Been there! Done that! Im patient when it comes to that, and I dont begrudge or complain about prices because I know *most* clinics only charge what they have to. Thats not what is bothering me. Its the lack of care and empathy they had for my kitty, who is my ESA mind you. Its the fact that I was given attitude when I was bawling my eyes out trying to get an update on how he was doing. Its the fact that they didnt even put in his chart that he ate a plant, or the kind of plant, or even bothered to take down the case # I got from poison control. When I tried to be proactive, they wrote me off. Look...I get it. Its busy, its a weird time in this post pandemic world. But it doesnt mean that you need to treat people and their pets like this. Im not complaining about the cost of care, Im not complaining about the length of time it took for the doctor to see my pet--Im upset because of the lack of care from the staff. To you, hes just a cat. To me, hes the cat that saved my f***king life.
We took our almost eleven year old dog in expecting to get medicine to stop/help what we thought was just an upset stomach. Turns out he had pretty advanced cancer & he had to be put to sleep. We were devastated, but very thankful for the professionalism and care we/he received from the staff as well as the vet. She said a beautiful prayer as our boy transitioned. They made an unbelievably hard situation calm and bearable.
My cat was in severe distress and this is one of the places I called and whoever I talked to was not very welcoming and didn’t want to answer my questions about my cat. She said “ we don’t have a business-client relationship with you so we really can’t answer any questions. It was my first time calling. This was this past Tuesday. I immediately got off the phone with her and found another local vet who saw me that day and basically saved my cats life! My cat had a severe infection and almost didn’t make it. Obviously I was meant to be where I ended up.
The level of care and concern my pet recieved was poor and minimal compared to the level of concern they had over their payments. We waited for 30 minutes after being told to come right over as our dog seized in the parking lot. This was merely hours after he was deemed safe to go home from a pre-paid emergency over night stay in the med ward. I have trusted this vet for over a decade, but not anymore. Their quality of care has declined severely and I wouldnt recommend them to my worse enemy. It saddens me that a place I used to love is now a place I despise.
I have been taking my 7 month French Bulldog here since he was 8 weeks. I’m finally taking the initiative to switch after his most recent visit. I brought him in for a booster shot and to have his ears looked at because I suspected minor infection. I also requested ear cleaning to help. The doctors recommended a shot for him that was not needed and refused to clean his ears because he was “too active” but had a technician lie to me and say that they did. I then received a summary of my visit and the bill was 230 and reminder that he needed his flea and tick medicine (AFTER THE VISIT). There’s no love and care in the price you pay here, just negligence. I called twice and left a message for the site manager Eric, but he will not return calls on concerns.
This was our first emergency visit here and fingers crossed our last emergency lol But I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who had a hand in helping my puppy. I know this pandemic has made it harder for everyone but you all are doing a fantastic job and it is much appreciated! I loved that everything was explained every step of the way and a price point was provided for every test and more before moving forward. I also received detailed care instructions and a Vet followed up the next day to make sure she was doing okay. Thank you!
Overall nasty attitudes. They dont care about any pets. They even deny your pets treqtment. I would not take a frog here.
Great vet and compassionate staff. The ER waits are a little extreme so be prepared to sit in your car for about two hours. I have an older pet and she has many health issues so we spend a lot of time with the ER staff. I would give five stars except for the long waits. I guess pet ER is just like people ER - long waits. On a positive note, I really like Dr. Gordon. She is great!
Our dogs nail had completely separated from the quick and was hanging sideways and bleeding uncontrollably, so we called around 7 pm and they told us there was a 4 hour wait, so we called back more than 4 hours later at 1 am when our dog was obviously in a lot of pain and they told us they still couldn’t get us in and would call us when they could. They called us at 6 am and told us they could take our dog in. We showed up asap and sat in the car for nearly 2 hours until someone finally came out and told us that we should go home because now they can’t see us anymore. They told us to come back at 12. We called a bit before 12 to make sure we could come in and they told us it was a 4 hour wait again. We talked to our regular vet and they told us the nail needs to be removed that day (we couldn’t go to our regular vet before they’re closed on sundays). We went to Med Vet Northern Virginia instead and they were AMAZING! They took our dog back right away to look at her and because it was a quick thing they were able to remove the nail and all the broken pieces right then and there during the evaluation. The team at woodbridge animal hospital wouldn’t even look at our dog to see her condition. We were worried by the amount of blood she was losing and had been waiting for almost 24 hours at that point and they didn’t care. The only reason they deserve one star and not 0 is because the receptionist in the morning was nice, but whoever was working later was extremely rude. What’s crazy is as soon as we showed up in their parking lot they charged us $150 for their “emergency fee.” Why should they charge us before they even had seen us? They wouldn’t even come look at our dog in the parking lot!! And the fee is for emergencies after waiting for so long it’s basically a normal appointment at that point. They really care more about money than the animals it seems. I would avoid this place if possible. Take the extra drive and go somewhere else like Med Vet who actually cares about your animals well being. The extra drive it takes will be much quicker than waiting all night long on this place. I hope that something changes with this place because it’s absolutely ridiculous. We understand other dogs with more critical conditions need to be seen first, but the fact they only had one technician there and an assistant could’ve looked at our dog even. They didn’t put in any effort at all. It’s sad.
My first visit to VCA was when I had just adopted 6 weeks old kitten Bonnie and she was suffering from chronic URI. She couldn’t eat/drink or breath through her nose and I was worried that she couldn’t make it. The Vet assigned to us was very knowledgeable and helpful, they did all the necessary procedures needed and gave us medications and clear instructions how to continue her treatment at home. The ER visit could be expensive depending on procedures and medications needed, so I enrolled in a Care Club which does save you money if you have a pet that requires frequent visits to the Vet.I myself had a great experience with VCA Vets and Staff; therefore, I’d highly recommend this place.
They took very good care of my cat when she had to go in for advanced kidney treatment for 2 days. Doctor was very good and wonderful to talk to.
I never leave reviews, but I just have to! This office was AMAZING! I tried about three vets prior, but no one was as helpful as they were! The vet herself called me and discussed everything in detail (I spent 30 minutes on the phone with her). She even mentioned things I could do on my own to save some money, even though it could have made her money, had she not mentioned it! From start to finish the entire staff was helpful, knowledgeable, caring, and professional! I have FINALLY found the right vet for me and my pit, Dojo (who also loved his time here)! Thank you to all staff at VCA Woodbridge!
They took great care of my little dog, favorite doctor and staff was all so kind and helpful. They’re being very safe with covid precautions.
The staff is amazing and super kind to my dogs. Wouldn’t take my dogs anywhere else.
Just left from our first visit at VCA Woodbridge and it went very smoothly. From the receptionist, to the nurse that came out to check us in, the whole process was easy. The vet called us pretty quickly after he was brought in and gathered some more history and was very pleasant and let me voice my concerns before explaining his thoughts. Fortunately everything turned out ok for my dog, only required pain meds, but should we need to return to an emergency vet, Ill definitely be going here.
My wife and I arrived at 1000 p.m. We called 20 minutes prior and stated exactly what we suspected was wrong with our pug. She had a fever of over 104 degrees, was shaking aggressively and would not voluntarily move at all. Last time this happened it was an infection caused by a pancreatitus which spiked her fever over 107. She would have died if we wouldnt have taken her to the vet that night. Today was the exact same symptoms. We called ahead and asked if a technician could come out immediately to put her on an IV immediately and we can fill out all administrative information immediately after. The clerk on the phone was compassionate and stated that wouldnt be an issue. We arrived and called three times before a technician comes out 15 minutes later. He was immediately rude and when we explained she had a fever he stated that it wasnt a fever in an extremely condescending tone, I imagine he was upset at how urgent our demeanor was. He stated only 102 and above was a fever. I explained to him that 104 is greater than 102 and he became upset and refused us service. He literally turned away from us and walked inside. I imagine he was upset or embarrassed at the mistake he said and didnt like my tone when I corrected him.The only wrong doing on my end was my extremely inappropriate remark I said to him out of anger as he was walking in the building after literally refusing service to us with our pug in critical condition. Im a veteran with diagnosed mental health issues and will take the criticism for that. The technicians name is Luis.I will be contacting the manager Eric Conroy tomorrow hopefully if he is available to explain in full detail as I am very upset that this technician literally refused us service because he was annoyed that we were urgent in our demeanor when our dog was close to dying and were promised an immediate IV but instead were treated so inappropriately. We left immediately after and arrived at Regional Referral veterinary center and they walked out with 10 seconds and put our dog on an IV and understood our stressful demeanor .
VCA Woodbridge Hospital saved my cats life months back amidst the pandemic. I could tell how stressed out everyone was dealing with the large inflow of sick/animals at pretty much the worst time but despite this they were able to set aside some time and effectively treat my cat and send her home to our family after a few days stay. Forever grateful to VCA, thank you.
I’ve typically had a strong impression of VCA Woodbridge, but this evening’s experience has been downright disappointing. We were taking our dog in because we expressed severe concern with him not having an appetite or desire to drink any water. We arrived at VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital’s Emergency Room (note the word “emergency”) around 11:30am and was told that based on the arrival, there would be about a 5 hour wait. We were advised that the wait may not be as long, and took down our name and number, and would call us back. Around 4:30pm we called to see if there was any update with the wait time, and we were told it was more of a 2 hour wait, but we should bring him in to be evaluated and checked in. Our arrival at 5:35, we were again informed that there was a 2 hour wait, with no consideration for the previous message provided. At about 7pm we called again and was told that we were “forgotten” about, and they would send someone out to check him in. At about 7:15pm, we called again, inquiring when our dog would be checked in. The response was “you were told at 5:35pm that it would be a 2 hour wait and you’ll be seen at 7:35om.” Mind you, the parking lot was EMPTY, and a staff of at least 7 people not caring for any animals, doing any paperwork, or answering any calls....just walking around. This is not the VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital that I’ve brought my dogs to for at least 10 years. If this is how you treat your long-time families, I’d hate to see how you treat new ones. This place either needs new leadership or some people that were working on the 29 October 2020 shift needs to be fired or retrained. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
This is the worst experience of my life. We are glad the Vet told us not to come back. Please never bring your dying dog or pet here. Pathetic all around.
After being turned away from my local animal hospital due to a 6 hour wait, I went to VCA woodbridge and Im glad I did. The parking lot was full and they had a critical emergency upon arrival and they were able to see my injured cat within the hour. They call me throughout the process and they were very informative. They took great care of my cat and I felt like they truly care for animals!
On February 10th we had to have our 16 year old baby girl Molly to sleep. Our normal vet could not get her in and recommended VCA as they were open 24 hours. Mollys health was very bad. Kidney failure, heart failure, dementia, def and mostly blind. Even when your baby is in that condition you always second guess if you are doing the right thing. I dont remember the Drs name that performed the procedure. I do remember his compassion and gentle demeaner. The staff that greeted us outside and got us checked in and checked out were also very kind. The room was also kind. I was able to have molly on my lap. I got to spend time with her before and after. It was wonderful they didnt make me say good bye in the car. I think this may actually be the only vet in the area that has not lost the compassion of this awful procedure due to covid. Thank you to everyone who helped Molly and I that day.
This animal hospital has such an efficient er. They always put my mind at ease whenever something is going on with my pups! I have one who seems to want to be a frequent flyer with tummy issues and just having an over protective mom I think. They figure out what is happening and give my babies the absolute best care! The thing is that if you are going to visit an er for anything (even as humans) you cant expect it to be quick. They have to give the best care to all their patients and some will be more critical than others. Just know that they are awesome and will do everything they can to ensure your pet is all good before it leaves.
Y’all receptionist’s are very rude I didn’t even want to take my pet there because of reading all the horrible reviews. After experiencing it first hand twice I refuse to take the drive... you need to teach your staff how to talk to people because what they’re doing right now is not it! And also proper phone etiquette and tone of voice is very important at all times.
Dont go here they killed my dog and charged me 5k plus !!Looking to file a class action suit against this establishment if you have a pet that was wrongly treated misdiagnosis if they said the pet is fine and isn’t or simply died while in their care feel free to reach out! It’s way too many people with similar stories about this place! Find me on Facebook
Top notch emergency care. My dog was attacked at a dog park. The hospital took excellent care of him.I want to personally thankJacob, Matt, Karen and Dr Grainger for the quality care, handling and the time you took to speak to us.I highly recommend this place.
I took our Scooter there for the first time on Friday.Scooter had not been eating for a few days and his stomach was hard which is not normal. We received the best care for Scooter he had to stay overnight to have test and IV. He came home Saturday evening feeling better we are not sure what was going on but we do know he feeling better.Thank you to the entire staff and Dr. Tuker.
I took my dog to the emergency room at this place Dan bill came up to almost $1,000 2 days later my dog died
It’s weird to write a positive review for such a negative event, but I have to give a big thanks and recommendation for them. I brought my dog in yesterday for an emergency appointment. My anxiety made the wait feel like forever but they got to us quickly. They kept me updated on everything that was going on via phone as we could not go in. When it came to light there was no other option for my dog, and the vet went over all of them, they were very considerate. The vet said some very kind thing and let us know we’d be able to go spend time with him. They brought us gowns and masks and let us have the room for as long as we needed. The tech even said a prayer for us as our Pluto drifted away and let us stay with him as long as we needed. For knowing my dog for only about an hour or two they were more caring than I could have expected and if we eventually let another animal into our hearts I’d be willing to make the drive to go back for regular visits.
Zero stars. My husband and I spent a lot of money taking our dog back and forth to the ER and they were never able to provide any definitive information that couldve saved our dogs life. We had to put down our dog due to your negligence and your greediness. The Veterinary Refferal Center in Springfield did one ultrasound and finally told us why our dog was declining. But by then it was too late.
I had to take my 5 yr. old lab/pit mix in when he couldnt stop throwing up even after getting a shot of anti-nausea medication. They not only kept me well informed about what they were doing to him. They also were informative and helpful to all of my questions. I was able to bring him home in less than 24 hours thanks to everything that they did.I would highly recommend them to anyone who has an animal in need.
We’ve been taking our dogs here for many years. The staff has always been great. From the non-stressful times of just a check up to the medium stress of a surgery. This week they were just as amazing or more when we had to make the call for one of our dogs to pass over the rainbow bridge. The reception team was amazing and loving. The nurses and doctor was incredible. We were a train wreck, but they helped us through the toughest time in our lives. Thank you.
So my dog has a regular vet but has been here on a few occasions. My dog is a diabetic and requires insulin 2 times a day. I spent over $1,000 for a visit at Woodbridge only a few weeks ago where he received fluids and a glucose curve during an overnight stay. My regular vet is closed today so I called Woodbridge to pick up some insulin. Even though he has been there before and had an overnight stay they refuse to give me a bottle of insulin unless they see him for another exam. Even though they literally saw him 2 weeks ago and took $1,000 from me. I am so disappointed with this place because they would rather squeeze more money out of me instead of helping my dog. Now my dog will miss his insulin tonight. I do not recommend this place unless it’s an extreme emergency and you have no other choice.
I have called multiple only a few of the people are nice and willing to help. Some of the receptionist are extremely rude. Had to take my dog twice in a row. Most of the staff here clearly doesn’t care about pets.
Very slow and unprofessional place. The doctor was miscommunicationing with staff constantly as well as not being very informative about simple questions in their field of expertise. Definitely overpriced, we will find better animal care elsewhere.
100% recommend! Great team and facility for an ER visit. My small dog managed to eat my large dogs medication. He ingested an extreme amount and it was extremely dangerous for him.Immediately we took him to VCA and the team there went right to work and addressed the situation. The staff, techs and Doc were fabulous. They took great care of my pup, and the price for the service/treatment was very reasonable. Military discount too!! If one of my boys has an emergency situation again we will be running back to VCA :)
I will definitely recommend this place, they are awesome! My 5 pounds Toy Poodle Cookie had a seizure due a head concussion inflicted by another dog. Seconds after the seizure Cookie wasnt able to move and or breath properly, I was so scared. I rushed to the VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital and Cookie was assisted as soon as we arrived. Side Note: Im glad they have Spanish speaking staff because I was so nervous and in shock that I could only explain what happened in my mother tongue. Anyways, they did an awesome job saving the life of my fur baby that I will always be forever grateful. They took such a good care of him and now he is a happy healthy puppy. I have to say they were very compassionate and understanding. Also, always willing to respond to any questions even after hours. My fiance was in Iraq when this happened so he will call every night to follow up with the doctors, they always responded and provided a complete status update on our fur baby. Im happy this place was close by our house, otherwise I dont think Cookie wouldve made it. If you have an emergency this place will do everything in their hands to make sure your pet is ok. Thank you so much!
I brought my Pom here for an emergency. They took her in right away when they noticed the severity of the situation. Another lady with her pet was very upset about our girl being seen first, but a technician did her best to calm down the situation. Unfortunately, my girl didn’t make it that night, but the vet working that night was very comforting. We now bring our other three doggies here because I can tell they actually care.Thank you to the staff! I can’t say thank you enough!!!
Absolutely rude and incapable people. It’s worth it to make the drive to either manassas or fairfax. Just go through the reviews, they’re all about money and just extremely rude. Manassas and Fairfax have emergency vets that are amazing. Also Crossroads animal hospital is a great place in Woodbridge for non emergencies. This place won’t even put down a dog suffering seizures at 17 without a credit card first. Accidentally left it at home they said send someone off to get it first. Then they literally let my dog sit in the car with either a torn acl or dislocated hip while allowing a number of other peoples animals who arrived after me in. Because it was only an ACL TEAR OR DISLOCATED HIP! Absolute garbage people, I would rather risk the extra minutes in a drive then take any animal I love to them. They’re cold nasty people. And I will make sure I drive to manassas or fairfax next time... seriously if you love your animals do not bring them here. I’ve learned the hard way twice now...
My diabetic cat had an emergency late Sunday night. The prompt action of the staff meant a lot. The facility is warm and inviting and clean. I cant thank Dr Watson and the staff enough for saving Buddy. You all rock.
Way overpriced and charge you for NOTHING. They called our cat FERAL and showed no compassion for us, our cat or our circumstances.
4/26/201- 2nd ReviewAfter excellent emergency end-of-life care for our Lucy, we decided to change to Woodbridge Animal Hospital for our other cat Stanley, for an exam and updating his vaccinations. So glad we did!We were given a timely appointment. We received friendly, prompt assistance and check-in by Gaby. Nikki worked patiently and diligently to locate Stanleys medical records, even though the information I provided was outdated.DR. SPIES was personable, knowledgeable, and thorough with the exam. She patiently and repeatedly calmed Stan amid his cacophony of meows! Frankie provided seamless and efficient checkout. Thank you to Dr. Spies and her team! We look forward to Stans future appointments.4/8/2019-1st ReviewWe took our 14 year old cat Lucy into the office April 8 for emergency evaluation. Frankie, Joanna, Brian, and DR. OBRIEN provided professional, compassionate, prompt care for our fur baby. I was impressed by their teamwork in providing the best care for Lucy and being sensitive to our requests. Thank you!
If you can help it find another option. The hospital manager, who seems to be responding to most of these comments, hung the phone up on me after two weeks of trying to get in touch with him. Even if you didn’t have an answer for me, the least you could’ve done was listen to my concern. You represented this company very poorly— your behavior should not be accepted by any employee, but definitely not from leadership. Customer service matters and you dropped the ball.
Came today to asked Eva questions about my dog being in pregnant and how to deliver. My first time owning a pregnant dog. She was very professional nice and gave great details of what to expect and how to handle and what to do. As soon as I got home my dog had 4 puppies. I appreciate her from the bottom of my heart and recommend anyone who owns pets to use them as their primary vet. Thank You Eva
I went into VCA with my cat who had a urinary blockage. I was referred to get him a PU surgery by my regular vet. The doctors at VCA decided that it would be best to give him a cystotomy rather than a PU. According to several other vets Ive discussed this with since then, they all agree that the doctors at VCA made a detrimental mistake. My cat has now passed away. They left him obstructed when they discharged him and he still could not pee. They lied and said he was doing good. Overly busy or negligent, Im not sure. Maybe both. I took him to 2 other places and finally got him unblocked but He reblocked right away. If he had a PU than The stones could have passed thru. After I spent over $4,000 I still ended up having to put him down. He was in so much pain.. I didnt even get an apology. In fact they over charged me by $1,500 after what I was quoted in the first place. There manger Brian is absolutely horrible and unprofessional. He should be fired . These people only care about the money, not your pet. In fact before my pet went into surgery the doctor decided it was a good time to tell me all the bad things thatmay happen during surgery and said it in a threatening kind of way because they were upset with me for calling and asking why my cat was still after 3 days waiting on his surgery. They told me because they had more emergent cases in front of him. Even tho my cat is now dead. Oh and they charged me for the extra time in the hospital. i wish I could give them no stars. We will never be back to any VCA after this experience.
No issues! Very nice staff, reasonable prices, always clean(all the times ive been). Ive taking my cat here maybe about 8 times in the past couple of years for different things like routine shots, examinations, boarding. Everyone is always so friendly. I definitely recommend
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, ESPECIALLY IF ITS AN EMERGENCY.Only care about the money.Has your family member had an emergency and is dying? Oh well, give them the money FIRST then they’ll try to save your pet. Don’t have 2,000 to give right then and there? They’ll watch your dog bleed to death for free.
I absolutely recommend them to care for your pet! Our visit with my cat Luna was great. The staff had great beside manner with her and the clinic was clean. Very courteous and caring veterinarian!
I brought my newly adopted dog, Birch in for his courtesy visit. All of the staff was wonderful and easy to work with. Dr Williams was thorough and patient as I asked her my questions. She listened to my concerns and addressed them appropriately. Thank you.
Let’s be clear the women at the front desk we’re nice. The doctors first question to me was “Has you dog eaten marijuana?” I asked where would the marijuana had been in house or was she implying that I was frowning weed in my yard.I was so offended I asked the tech was this a normal question. Like she could tell that I was upset. She said well maybe one of your neighbors dropped it in the grass. I was even more mortified. And in complete shock. On top of an outrageous charge for emergency services I’m felt like I was being profile because I was black.I will do my best to stop any person of color I know from using there services! The ER doctor was beyond out of line and so was the blond tech with the bob cut.
We took our ~2 year old friendly-but-skittish-at-times cat here for an emergent bladder blockage. All of the staff (from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors themselves) were courteous, kind, and helpful throughout the whole process which included a referral for surgery. Each step of the process was explained clearly without making us feel insignificant or unintelligent. We had an excellent experience and are grateful for the high quality of care our little guy received.
We brought our corgi to be seen and they took the time to address all our concerns and made sure we left with the proper materials. Called back next day with no issues and answered more questions quickly and promptly!
Love these folks. They took very good care of my dog Lilys injury and were very caring! We had to go in for and emergency visit and we were seen in a timely manner and provided with everything we needed to help her heal quickly.
DR. Boyce is FANTASTIC along with the staff!I rushed in there late at night, half asleep and panicked because my dog was having a seizure and the staff was quick to act. They asked all the necessary questions and then began working on him immediately. I was so relieved at their response time and they made sure to fill me in with updates as soon as they had them. I was brought in water and tissues and was reassured he would be fine through every step. After he was stabilized Dr. Boyce took time to explain to me what treatment routes/test were available and what she believed was the probable cause. Her bedside manner was something you hope for when your pet and you are going through something as scary as that. I cannot praise them enough on their incredible bedside manner and quick thinking. I was able to take my dog home that night with peace of mind.Thank you, Dr. Boyce and Staff!!
Was dogsitting and the dog got very ill, took her here after her regular vet told us she needed more intense care than he could provide. The staff was incredibly kind and comforting and very accommodating.
No compassion about my pet’s illness. Lack of caring. I felt I was just one more number through the door.
Great experience! My Pitt got a bone stuck in the back of her teeth she was in so much distress. I brought her in and I was instantly greeted by the staff. They allowed me to go back in the exam room with her and the doctor explained they would have to sedate her (because my dog isn’t very friendly) too examine her and remove the bone. They took her back while I paid for the visit and within 5 minutes later. The doctor was super happy to tell me she was able to dislogdge the bone on her own! The doctor was great and I received a full refund since they didn’t examine her. 10/10 the best staff and doctors! I hope I never have another pet emergency but if I do I’m glad I can go somewhere great like the VCA Animal Hospital
I took two of my clients dogs there to be examined by a vet because not knowing how long the dogs were exposed to natural gas inside the home when I arrived. While there got authorization from client by phone to do what ever it takes. Meanwhile, sitting in the lobby with two adorable pit bulls who were stressed and exposed to natural gas became uncomfortable with each other as other dogs had arrived. Still had not seen or heard anything from the vet tech behind the desk. I had to insist on getting a room to calm the boys down. Once in that room every one was afraid to enter. I got the boys calm again and were both laying on the floor. The doctor had me call the ASCPA poison control myself. Once I spoke with someone there and they consulted their vet, the boys would be alright. I was given a case number and a direct number for the vet at a Woodbridge could call. Instead that vet at Woodbridge wanted me to tell her the results. I took the boys after hearing what signs to look for. I waisted my time going there! Never again!
I called to figure out if i could possibly make an appointment for my guinea pig and the receptionist informed me that they didnt take exotics. Come to find out the company does take exotics, but in another location. I didnt mind doing the research, but it would have been nice of them to let me know about their other locations services.
Five stars for care of our quadruped ball of floof. However one star off for making me open additional doors to the back bathroom to wash my hands after picking up dog feces stating room must be kept open for emergencies but they had at least 4 rooms open at that moment with a light customer load at the time (3 families waiting). Its washing your hands folks. Also might want to add circulating fans to the treatment rooms weve noticed it gets fairly warm and have to open the doors every time we visit.Still a great place to take your pet these are only minor annoyances at an overall great vet, and by far our favorite to date. Our only complaint business pricing wise is the lack of end of day appointment blocks for walk ins which results in an ER charge regardless of issue.
I just wanted to give a quick Thank You to the team working last night (Saturday, March 2nd). I brought our elderly sick cat in for end of life assistance and they helped make a horrible night a little less horrible. They (sorry, I cant recall their names; two women and a man) were very kind and respectful during a difficult situation and I really appreciate it.
Great staff! They take good care of my puppy. I feel at ease when I will be boarding him for a couple days. They spoil my baby.
Compassionate, thorough, and patient. Everything from the treatment plan to the financial breakdown was explained to me in great detail. The staff called twice a day to provide me with updates. I trust VCA to provide my pets with the highest level of care. Thank you all for your help!
I brought my dog in after she ate 6 raw chicken thighs. The doctor I met with was great. He did not try to push any unnecessary treatments. My dog was treated very well by the doctor and the vet techs. All of the staff was polite and friendly. I would recommend WAH to anyone who was in need. Absolutely wonderful!
Doctor just wanted to squeeze money out of us. Couldn’t tell us why our dog was having seizures, just suggested we put her on anti seizure medication. Drug pushers and uneducated with a clear lack of compassion .
Dr. Watson is very knowledgeable but also down to earthearth . As a new pet owner she answered all my worried mom questions but she also made sure I didnt overreact to things that werent serious. They never let me spend money on unnecessary appointments or procedures .I love this vet .
Bring your patience with you...even if you have an appointment you will have to wait and be bypassed by others who walk in the door after you. And it’s hit or miss on the Vets. You never know who you are going to get for care. There are better vets in the Woodbridge area—ones that give you better care and service.
Today my dog was having seizures. My vet recommended I go to Woodbridge animal Hospital because they would be better equipped to handle the emergency situation . When I called to say I was enroute the receptionist said they would not treat my dog without an emergency vet referral. I said it was an emergency and they told me to go to Springfield.
We bring our dog in VCA for emergency surgery in falls church because we thought that they can help us. Evidently they did not because when they told us how much it cost us 6,800$ according to the Vet. She has a board certificate that’s why it’s exepensived. But the thing is she said she can refer us to VCA Woodbridge cause it will cost us 2,000$ but when we came there my dog got admit and they give us the quotes 2,000$ plus extra change with veterans discount which we expect good price for us that we can afford so we proceed the surgery and then when we pick up our dog they charge us another 1,100$ In our card without telling us they just charge it right away more which it’s so disappointing because it’s so much more then we were quoted. I will give this place a bad review very disappointing I will never ever gonna comeback to this place anymore.
The staff is so friendly and took such good care of my dog. They genuinely care about the animals and also do not overcharge for unnecessary items. The vet was very professional and explained every thing she did thoroughly. Thank you!
We have been using Woodbridge Animal Hospital ever since they were located @ the old (?haunted) house on Route 1. And we would never change!! This is the most compassionate & excellent group of Veterinarians I have ever met. And we have been to Vets in several different states & in England. While we have respected all of the Veterinarians we have used in the past, none compare to the ones @ Woodbridge Animal Hospital. It is so nice to have an animal hospital that is open 24/7/365 also! In addition to the wonderful Vets, the office staff & the Vet Techs are fabulous! It truly is like a 2nd family to us. You cant go wrong by taking your beloved dog or cat to Woodbridge Animal Hospital. They will treat them as if they were their own.
If I could give these a**holes less than a one star review I would. Medical care and everything is fine but a problem occurred when a close friend had to have a dog put down recently. The employees returned the dogs ashes with a mold of a paw print that was supposedly from their recently deceased pet, however this was not their dogs paw print and the name inscribed on the print was the wrong name. Now we are wondering if these are even the right ashes? The veterinarians insist that its not their fault as they provide this service as a courtesy and say that it is not a problem because the other dogs owner will never find out about the misplaced paw print mold.. So if the owners of the dog Max are out there we are very sorry that we ended up with your memento and were sorry that these negligent people could care less about the loss of your pet.
Woodbridge Animal Hospital was very helpful to us when we had to hospitalize our cat with them for a week. They kept us informed of everything and were very compassionate during all of our visits. The price was not cheap, but was about what I expected given the situation - we were given an estimate for everything and the cost was not very far off from that. They were very busy and we had to wait a long time during some of our appointments, mostly due to emergencies. I do not live close enough to use them for regular vet care, but am glad to have a 24 hour option that I trust should we ever need it again.
They only care about money. Thousands up front is ridiculous and then the pet still dies.
All about the money, vets do not follow up even after surgery its a voice mail and roll We were lucky enough to have a vet talk about how much she dislikes the place since purchased by VCA and it about pushing the health plan and how was she going to make money/hit quota. McDonald sold out the community
Stay away from this place!!!! We took our dog to get checked out because he wasnt feeling well and they recommended a blood test, which we agreed to. They told us the results would be in on a Friday. Our dog sadly passed away the same day and we wanted to know why but Friday came along and no one contacted us and next week rolled around and finally someone called us. We had taken our dog to the same place to get it cremated and they told us that there was some new policy in place where the ashes would be sent to our home in 5 days. 3 WEEKS later and we had to call to see what is going on and they notify us that the ashes have been sitting in their office. NO ONE EVEN BOTHERED TO CALL US!!! WHAT A RIDICULOUS PLACE! TAKE YOUR PET ELSEWHERE WHERE THEY CARE FOR THEM!!!!
Woodbridge Animal Hospital has taken care of our boys since 2007. We are very satisfied with their service and care for our pets. What I really like the most is the follow up calls they give us after our visits.Sometimes we wait a while but we don;t mind. the reception area is clean and neat and orderly and pleasant to be in.The front office personnel are very approachable very helpful. I am glad to be a client of WAH. My husband is too.
I have used this vet twice both times due to an emergency visit. I love this place and if I wasnt moving out of the area in the next two months I would be making them my permanent vet. The staff and the doctors are great. Both times I have used them I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of the bill. The first time my dog was bitten at the dog park and received 13 staples to close the wound. They had to sedate my dog for the procedure and I thought for sure my bill was going to be well over $600 my bill was under $400 and that was with the $99 ER fee. This last time my dog was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer. Again I was surprised by the total $184.50 and also included the ER fee. Love this place!!!
