Staples Mill Animal Hospital is the best! I really believe that they saved my pets life! They diagnosed my pet with a heart problem and now he is on the medication he need to be on. They are extremely knowledgeable about special breeds and they also recommended me to the best cardiologist. The entire staff is so kind and will talk to you on the phone about your pet. I can’t say enough good things about this vet. Prices are on point with other good vets. I absolutely love this vet and will be sad to leave. Thank you Staples for taking such good care of my baby boy and saving his life.

My chihuahua had severe pancreatitis, was in dire straights, and is a major biter. The team at Staples Mill saved her life, and was even able to charm her enough to hold her in their arms. Ive never seen any vet or tech able to do that. Im visiting here in Woodbridge, but plan to travel to Staples Mill Vet from Burke where I live, if I ever need to take Piper to a vet in the future. They are AMAZING and well worth the extra time driving. Absolute miracles workers. She went in barely able to stand, and by the end of the day, after their IV treatments, she was dancing and wagging her tail. The front desk was extremely friendly, and patient on the phone as well, which makes a big difference when youre stressed about your dogs well-being. Thank you Staples Mill Animal Hospital!!

The Vets and the Technicians are great. They have always been very caring towards my Gussie. The Receptionists always do everything they can to get you an appointment which is good for everyone. I also like the fact they will tell you what your visit will be and what is needed right away. Being retired and on a fixed income this is so helpful. I would definitely recommend to all friends and family, Gussie loves it there and makes himself at home!!

The team is knowledgeable and patient. They took the time to listen to all my questions and explain everything to me, which I very much appreciated as a first time dog mom. I let them know my dog gets anxious, and they were understanding of that and very gentle with him. They mentioned that theyre planning to fully open soon, but the parking-lot-waiting-room is a great alternative for now. Glad I found Staples Mill Animal Hospital, and Im comforted that both my dog and I will be treated well here.

So look around and around and I found Staple Mill Animal Hospital. I was able to see my baby virtually during her visit with them. I was asked did I have any concerns and I did. Which I was given advise on what to do. When I tell you I have NEVER EVER received service like this for any of my animals I haven’t! TLDR: Light-years ahead of other clinics. DO NOT HESITATE.Its taken me longer to write this review than it should have, but Staples Mill is perhaps the best Vet, all around, that weve used. Weve seen vets in 5 states (soon to be 6), across 4 dogs, and nearly 15 years. I cannot overstate how well the staff at Staples Mill handled everything we threw at them. If they are a viable option for you, DO NOT HESITATE.With their attention and approaches, we took a Swissy (avg lifespan 7-9) whom developed CKD around 10, all the way out to 14. We went thru several different vets and medication regimens over the duration, but found the most success with a varied approach. Dr. Smith was world class, not only in his knowledge and demeanor, but in his ability to know his own limits and do additional research/professional consults himself - when needed. Ellas last 3 years were 100% a result of the extraordinary care and knowledge he and the rest of the Staples Mill team collaborated on.They also coordinated with the other end of the spectrum, an exuberant 10week old puppy, without drama. Everyone loves puppies, but their genuine attitudes and attention to detail show through in everything they do.Be open and honest with your goals, give them the information you have, and trust their years of experience. They arent afraid of developing and new treatments, but also simply know what works historically speaking and manage to find the balance that so many others seem to struggle with. I cannot recommend them enough, my only regret being that I cannot bring their entire clinic with us as we move across the country.

They were great! I parked in the parking lot and they called me to do intake paperwork and then a vet tech met me at the door to take my dog back. The vet video called me during the exam to talk and go over everything. I checked out over the phone and they brought my dog back out to me with all her prescriptions. They were very nice and knowledgeable. I will definitely bring her back the next time she needs vet care.

I am sure there is room for improvement somewhere but in my opinion the experience I had I thought was pretty amazing. The staff was super friendly from day one from a phone conversation to email and text reminders as well as after the appointment with results and information through email. They where kind and patient and took care of munchkins needs. As well as kept me informed and updated to everything that they were going to do and of things that needed to be done.

So fortunate to have found Staples Mill. These people from the ones that answer the phone to the Doctors are fantastic. I rarely say this about a business, especially one that takes care of something so important to me.

The doctors and techs are knowledgeable and gentle, and they are always generous with the spoons full of peanut butter, which keeps my dogs distracted and happy. Both of my dogs are young and dont have any serious health issues, but weve been happy with the care and attention theyve received and we appreciate the proactive suggestions on keeping the dogs slim and healthy.

I absolutely love this clinic! I took my Leo baby there as a new patient today (we just moved here from Florida with the military) and everyone there was so kind and best of all.. knowledgeable and caring to my Pom Pom:) they worked him into their busy schedule today for the allergies he is manifesting from the leaves even as a new patient. Military family friendly, super caring and I know my Leo baby will be right as rain in quick time. Dont hesitate :).Several months later.....Just so u know.. Took our Yorkie for laser treatments several months ago and they are now our new vet clinic. EVERYONE who works there is so super friendly. I feel my dogs have gotten professional treatment and outstanding care. The vet techs treat my dogs like theyre their own. Everything is so convenient and easy from check in to check out. The fact that it always seems to be busy when we go means they must be doing something right.

I have had dogs since high school and have seen a number of vets over the decades. Just recently I visited for the 1st time for one of my babies that cut her foot. The doctor that attended me was professional, loving, informative and a joy to be around. I had to make a follow-up appointment and at first was hesitant because it would be a different doctor but she was wonderful, elegantly-approachable, and compassionate. This animal hospital has an aura about them that has raised the bar to a much higher standard, they truly are the best without a doubt. I will be bringing my 3 babies to them and I recommend to all to do the same. 5 stars is not enough to rate them. Thank you Dr. Hurley and Dr. Shane and all that work there, you have all made an impact on my babies lives as well as mine.

We moved to DC 4 months ago, and our vet of 16 years in Ohio HIGHLY recommended Dr. Shane. I have senior dogs (both 12), so we’ve already had several appointments. It’s a 45 min drive for us, but well worth it! She’s great about responding to emails and phone calls from me, knowing that I can’t just zip right over there. Dr. Shane and her staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming. Both of my dogs enjoy all the attention they get from her and her team.

I don’t think the experience could have been better. It was our first time visiting Staples Mill, and even though we didn’t set a foot inside, because of COVID-19 precautions, we felt so at home! We never felt rushed, and found that every employee we worked with was caring and gentle. We will be back, for sure!!

My husband and I were thrilled with the excellent service and professionalism of all staff. Bravo to Dr. Shane for explaining a way to elevate the crate because now our puppy sleeps in it with no issues. Our first visit to Staples Mill Animal Hospital was wonderful, and I feel lucky that this is the place we have selected for our new puppy.

When we got Conan our Frenchie we tried multiple vets in DC, Alexandria and Maryland. Staples Mill animal hospital was the only vet that would really listen to our concerns and never pressure us. We love this vet and we recommend it to everyone.

I feel like the techs and doctors really genuinely care about my dog, Lucille. They spend more than enough time with us during our appointment and answer every question I have honestly but in a caring manner. I do not feel judged and they make sure my pet is as comfortable as possible. They help me decide how to best care for her needs while keeping a budget and help me plan out future visits based on her needs and my budget. I just love this place. I never feel rushed and always feel welcomed.

Please stay away from this place. Fraudulent business practices. First they tell me that one of the Medicine, Bravecto, is equivalent financially to Frontline and then when we receive the bill, we get a bill that says the cost is twice that of frontline. Then, to top it off, they send an invoice for $532 and proceed to bill me $644. When I called and had a very stern tone on why I was overcharged, they use the age old technique of saying that you dont need to yell at them when I was clearly not yelling at them and was upset that they took an extra $112 out of my account. I was obviously upset but not yelling because it was $112overcharge. They lady kept telling me that I should not be upset because it was not her who made the mistake. When you work somewhere you represent the entire business. You dont shriek off responsibility because youre not the exact person who made the mistake. How about a simple sorry????? Is your business too good to apologize for errors instead an arrogant and condescending tone??!? Everybody makes mistakes, but, damn own up to it and be understanding of clients especially when you overcharge them. Will be taking my business elsewhere. Beware of this place, they do not treat customers right!!!

Staples Mill Animal Hospital has always been there for my growing dog, Balthazar (rottweiler). He has seen both Dr. Shane and Dr. Henderson, along with the entire Staples Mill team, and loves all of them! They provide me and my dog with the best veterinary services and stand-out from other clinics for their truly caring, professional, and talented doctors, technicians, and staff.There was a time when my dog was miserable and in a ton of pain. They took him in immediately, addressed all of my questions, carefully diagnosed his issue, administered treatment, and provided me with a well-detailed treatment plan to continue to care for my dog at home. I was so worried about him! It was Saturday night and Dr. Shane and her husband told me that I could call them after-hours, even on Sunday when the office is closed, if his condition did not improve (this kind gesture and their concern brought me to tears). He got better quickly, and the Staples Mill team followed-up with me throughout his recovery to check on how he was doing. This level of support meant so much to me and is above and beyond anything I ever expected.Balthazar is the first dog Ive ever had that enjoys going to the vet, even when he isnt feeling well. I cannot recommend Staples Mill Animal Hospital enough. Thank you all for taking care of my dog!

I was very impressed with this Vet Clinic. I have four cats and my friend suggested Staples Mill. They are very friendly and the facility is very calming and smells nice. I contacted the hospital for a new patient sick visit for my shitzu. They worked me into their schedule for the morning. She needed an xray to determine why she was having difficulty breathing. The vet explained the pricing. The xray results would be forwarded to a specialist for the most accurate interpretation of suspicious spots on her xray. The doc provided antibiotic to help relieve the fluid on her lungs while waiting for the results.The office manager approved a payment plan so I could pay 70% the day of the visit and split the remainder up into two additional payments. They called the next day to check on my dog. They even have an app for my phone so we can make appointments, add groomers, to manage our pet appointments electronically. My dog is feeling much better already. Staples Mill is now our new vet location.

Love this place!! Dr. Shane and her staff are the best! I have taken my fur baby to Dr. Shane on several occasions and the service is always outstanding. They truly care about each and every animal that comes through their facility. Its clean, inviting, they have state of the art equipment and the best customer service. I took my dog Misha to Staples Mills Animal hospital on April 22, 2020 for her having GI issues. Due to COVID-19 we were unable to sit in on the appointment, Dr. Hurley called me while waiting in my vehicle. She stated that Misha has a cracked tooth that needs to be removed as soon as possible and that they also wanted to do blood work on her base off her age (8 years old). I agreed to do the blood work and they sent Misha home with some meds for her GI issues. The initial appointment was for her stomach issues (bloody stool), but now because about her tooth. I did inquire about the cost for her dental and extraction and they said they would send me an estimate in a few days. April 24th 2020 I received an estimate for Misha with the high end of $1,123.17. Dr Hurley went over the estimate with me and told me that if scheduled within 30 days Staple Mills would give me 10% off the total price. I decided to take Misha for a 2nd opinion at Davis Ford Animal Hospital. Dr. Branson said she did see a cracked tooth, but x-rays would be better. I thought it over for a couple weeks and decided to move forward with the dental procedure, I called to schedule the appointment and Dr. Hurley was booked till June which would put me out of 30 days. They would need to redo the blood work for Misha if I didnt go with another dr. They said they could do the in house blood work which would have been $100 vs $269 and I would lose out on the 10% deal. They said all their doctors work together. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Shane which from my understanding is the owner of Staple Mills. May 19th 2020 I arrive to drop Misha off at 0730 for her dental and extraction. They had me sign some paperwork. One of which was another estimated for $1454.67. I spoke to the tech (Casie) and questioned why the price jump especially this is not the original estimate that I agreed on prior to making this appointment. She said different doctor so Dr. Shane added some new items. such as Lyme vaccination and flea and tick meds (Why was Misha getting vaccination on the day of her dental extraction). Again this was only brought to my attention at 0730 the day of the surgery. No one called me between the time of appointment scheduling and now and talked to me about the changes. It was as if they were trying to get over on me. Casie came back and adjusted the estimate to $1270.17; she kept telling me that this is before your 10% and that the price will be lower. My issue was that the price jumped $300 from initial till now with zero communication till day of surgery. I figured Misha needed the surgery but my gut feeling was they already did me dirty. After driving home I called back and told them I will be returning to pick up Misha, and that I did not want to proceed with the surgery. I just had to go with my gut and they seemed okay at first as a hospital with great integrity, but after today I dont believe this is the case.Another note is that when an online pharmacy requested approval they would not cooperate. They said we had to come pick up a written rx, which would my our dog overdue for one vs just acknowledging and approving the prescription. Especially with the CDC and warnings do not go out or interact unless absolutely necessary this seemed ridiculous. Davis Ford happily approved the prescription and went were mailed our dogs meds.

Great care. Great staff. They take care of my 2 cats and Im very happy with there care. My cat got sick over the weekend and I was able to get him in Monday morning. They took great care of him and he is doing so much better.

The first thing that I notice was that everyone in the building was smiling. That rarely happens for any organization. I love how friendly everyone is and how easy they are to work with it. And for an animal clinic, the prices on labs, tests and procedures are reasonable.

We love Staples Mill!! The staff is wonderful and always treats us well. We followed our current Vet there from another clinic and we are happy we did. They are courteous and always take great care of my dogs each time we are there. If I have any questions, they are great about returning my calls with answers to all my concerns.

I have been to Vets all over the United States and Europe due to showing German Shepards and breeding Siamese cats for over 50 years, I have never encountered a more pleasant knowledgeable staff. From the moment I walked in the door being worried and stressed about my cat they made me feel as though my cat was the most important animal on earth. The receptionist, vet techs and the vets were so wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable even my cat relaxed.Their gentle kindness and knowledge to him was truly a wonder to observe and I relaxed and left the office knowing he had been in the best hands ever. The next morning they called to see how he was doing.

We have gone through quite a few vets since we move a lot and we have older dogs, my pups love the vet office and I love the Vet, Dr. Askin goes above and beyond to make sure our doggies are healthy and happy, and to make sure she answers all of our questions, they always follow up with us to see how they are doing after their shots or whatever procedure they got, and do extra research when things arent as obvious, I just love how hard they work.

I have never been to a vets office where people remember my pets, call to check on them, get on the floor and snuggle... and especially where my pups are not afraid!!! My dogs go in there like they own the place! They feel 100% at home when they visit. When they hear Dr. Shane coming, they get so excited, they start to whine! Its like they want to burst through the door because they cant get to her quickly enough. It is an amazing feeling! The technicians and front desk staff are just absolutely wonderful. Across the board, I have to say, these are the most genuine, fair, concerned, and qualified people I have come across in this line of work so far. The facility is always clean, inviting, and they have the latest medical technology available. For whatever specialities they dont have in-house, they have strong connections and are able to recommend other highly qualified veterinarians in the area. I have and will continue to recommend them to EVERY pet owner that I know.

Every time I go there they make us feel very welcome - Zeus love all of them, especially when he gets his peanut butter - they always call you the next day to see if your pet is doing well. LOVE THIS PLACE!

We left Independent Hill because we were always seen by a different vet and the treatment plan was always different. But when my English Bulldog had a growth in her mouth and all surgeons were at a two week conference, I had had enough. So we switched to Staples Mill Animal Hospital and the service there has been wonderful so far.

Just moved to the area and brought in my 1-year-old pittie mix with a torn nail. Dr. Nelsen and the vet tech were attentive, thorough, and friendly during our appointment. The receptionist also offered to check us out in the exam room since my pup gets incredibly anxious around other dogs.The small and open waiting room layout creates some difficulties for dog-reactive/fearful pups like mine. Itd be great if the office had some kind of partition or separated area for more nervous pets.

Our dogs are normally nervous or even scared when we take them to the vet. This visit was much different, our dogs were at ease the entire time. The staff were so nice and knew exactly how to interact with our animals and put them in a calm manner. We are so happy to have found Staples Mill Animal Hospital, we wont take our dogs anywhere else.

This Hospital is legit. Was referred by couple during doggy training. Anyways great staff. Dr. Shane is great with the dogs. Have two pit Bulls that show her lots of love and she returns the favor. My dog shadow recently just had surgery. From top to bottom, excellent.If you have issues with your dog or other pets. Take them there, promise if you will like your experience, if you dont for whatever reason, I am pretty sure you will like the office looks like a spa. Lol

Today was my first visit and I will never go anywhere else. Dr Shane actually got on the floor with my dog to do the exam. I have never seen that in all my Vet experiences. She and her staff were so kind and friendly. I was late on my dogs dental care due to the high pricing at my prior Vet, but I made an appointment before I left Dr Shanes office to have a cleaning because her price is so reasonable.My dog and myself are very happy to have a great animal hospital to visit.LoriLayne

Absolutely amazing animal hospital. A few months ago, they were able to take my sick dog in on very short notice and helped him out. Once again, they came through in a pinch and helped me out on short notice. From the very minute you walk in the door, you feel welcome and everyone is super friendly. We had our first visit at Staples Mill Animal Hospital yesterday with our 14 year old cat, Daisy. Dr. Shane and her staff were wonderful. Daisy was very relaxed. The facility was very clean and modern. Daisy, who doesnt like car rides, even remained calm for the ride home! Well be back!

Yesterday my girl ate a grape and I called and stopped by, though they were double booked, they accepted us and got the grape out. They also know her by name which means a lot, or that I come in way too much! I feel blessed to have found such a great place to trust with our needs!Thank you!

Our physicians for all of our routine pet care, we recently had an emergency event with our cat. The front office staff was compassionate and proactive, in ensuring us a same day appointment. We were given a complete exam from vet tech and Dr. Nelson. Despite needing to be referred out for emergency surgery, Dr. Nelson was upfront and supportive in her suggestions on the best way to treat. Additionally, while our baby was under the care of the referred to surgical vet, staples mill went above and beyond, answering my concerns and questions during this time, as well as Dr Nelson following up with our cats medical team at the secondary vet, and then calling me to answer my questions and concerns. Fantastic office, great staff. They put their patients care first. We love them and would recommend them to anyone who asked for a referral in a heartbeat.

This place is awesome. The vets are friendly and the techs know their stuff. If youve ever been to the back, you would feel a lot comfortable with leaving your dog here. The place is state of the art and designed so that the animals are always watched by the staff. I reccomend.

Dr. Shane and staff treated our dog with great care. Before coming to Staples Mill Animal Hospital, he had been treated by a different vet clinic in a way that left him extremely anxious about going to visit the vet. While he was still anxious when he first came in, Dr. Shane and her assistant handled him in such a way that he was more calm during and after the visit than Ive seen him. Very pleased with how he was treated.

The doctors and staff at Staples Mill Animal hospital are so awesome! They are always helpful and accommodating! They are so patient with both humans and animals, they do their best to work with the animals and keep them calm, and they always answer all of our questions!We have 3 dogs--1 greyhound and 2 11-month old pomskies. They know that greyhounds have special needs in surgery (not all vets know this but ours does!!!). They work well with dogs who are fearful (again, our greyhound) and are so patient with our rambunctious puppies.We have been going to Staples Mill ever since we moved to Woodbridge, VA. We would recommend this clinic to everyone.On a side note, we also appreciate small things like the fact that they have peanut butter and other treats on hand to help the dogs stay calm during blood draws and vaccinations. We also love that they are helpful in getting animals in and out of the clinic. If there is an amped-up pet in the lobby, they will wait until the animal is gone and then come and get you so you can leave the clinic without worrying about pets clashing.

Initially I came to this Staples Mill Animal Hospital solely to get a second opinion for my dog. After an exam and the same tests my previous vet ran the bill for my visit came up to around half of what I had spent at my old vet. The same test and exam were half the cost.Some would say that price isnt everything. The quality of care is what is important. On that count Staples Mill beat my previous vet as well. My dog is very nervous at the vet. She spends the majority of the visit trying to make it back to the exit or avoid the staff. The staff was very good with her and she made it through her first experience without too much extra stress.It was a subsequent visit that proved how special this practice is. The issue that initially brought my dog in required some more detailed testing. The testing required her to stay for a few hours. I dropped her off in the morning and hoped that she wouldnt have to stay too long, as I know that normally means an extended stay in a kennel. Work ended up keeping me away longer than the tests took. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to pick my dog up that she had not been kept crated all day. The staff had put a baby gate up in one of the doctors offices and she was sleeping happily. This is a dog that hates the vet, who needed to be muzzled and sedated at our previous vet, and she was sleeping and interacting with the staff as though she were visiting friends.Couldnt recommend them enough. They have saved me a great deal of money and time in diagnosing my dog, but most importantly have given our dog a level of care I have never seen with a vet.

Im in the military and move around quite a bit. SMAH rates as the number one animal hospital I have taken my pets too. Its clean, its not overcrowded, and all the staff is super nice and show that they really care for my pets.

Dr. Shane and her high tech facility is the only place in Northern Va that we trust with our first babies; Specifically due to the hospitals low stress model which reduces anxiety. Staples Mill cares enough to recognize each animals fear, and thus adjusts their treatment plan in order to raise trust and comfort. Aside from this, they gave us a complete tour of their facility and outlined all of their capabilities, which happen to be cutting edge in comparison to some of the archaic facilities that serve the same area. Dr Shane is very thorough in all that she does. She explains everything clearly. She respects our time. We are extremely satisfied with her and the staff at the hospital and highly recommend them.

I don’t even know where to start. The Shane’s are the most amazing people I’ve met in the vetranary industry. I could go on all day how much I love my vet team at staple mills animal hospital. Deffiently two thumbs up. My whole family has been using them for about 15 years. ❤️

We had surgery this visit to remove a lump on his leg and I was very worried about that.He did way better than I expected with the anesthesia and seems to be doing well.They always take the greatest care of my dogs and I cant recommend them enough for all your veterinary needs!!

Everything was great from start to finish. The staff is friendly and attentive. Dr. Askin and Crystal were very patient and kind to my pooch and Dr. Askin gave professional, sound advice. I am new to the area and am very pleased to know that I how found my dogs vet already. Myesa was such a pleasure and great at explaining the charges. I loved the new patient savings coupon. Always a wonderful experience. They make a determination on what needs to be done for your furbaby based on what is best for the pet and not their pocketbook. Weve always had a good experience with the staff and weve seen several of the Vets and Vet Techs, allllll wonderful. I would also say the front desk staff is ALWAYS friendly and caring towards our furbaby. We love them at Staples Mill Animal Hospital!

We love Staples Mill! We moved two hours away but still bring our baby there. Everyone there is compassionate and knowledgeable and the experience is always phenomenal.

Absolutely LOVE this office! I am a super picky fur mom and I have had good experiences at most of the top four vets in the Woodbridge area. The high level of service and kindness of this entire office was our first positive impression. Dr. Shane took the time to carefully explain her findings and she called us the following morning to check on Yani herself, which was a first for us from any vet we have ever been to. Prices are comparable and reasonable and I never felt like I was being up-sold. We finally found a vet home. I am an avid review reader and I hope this review helps someone else.
