I knew when making the reservation that there was a shortage of larger (6-seater) SUVs; however, I was told to make reservations at more than one rental care company. I made a reservation at Hertz in Woodbridge because it was the closest to me (closer than the two other rental care companies at National Airport). My reservation was for convenience. The two locations at the airport were still a bit pricey, but a little over $100 cheaper.Check in was fine; however, when I was OKd to get in the vehicle to leave, I immediately noticed that it was VISIBLY dirty. Stains present as if a previous renter wasted juice and/or soda or some sugary beverage and it hadnt been cleaned out. Sticky surfaces, etc. We are in the middle of a pandemic. I thought car rental companies were supposed to be deep cleaning and sanitizing vehicles? I asked for the car to be recleaned. The manager seemed a bit annoyed, but the female employee understood and had it recleaned and brought back to me smelling like bleach (better than nothing).I left after and went home to get my Lysol wipes and Lysol spray to MAKE SURE it was cleaned correctly and any surface that me or my family would touch was cleaned with disinfectant. I shouldnt have had to do that, but I did as its better to error on the side of caution and safety. Unfortunately the car REEKED of cigarette smoke so I had to stop by Target to get air freshener for the car (chose the vent clips) and Febreze as the smell was nauseating.As if this wasnt frustrating enough, when I turned the engine off to exit the car I received a message that it needed to be serviced: Oil Change in 300 miles. WHAT? I rented the car to drive from VA to Florida so one way was about 800 miles! I called the manager and he was now noticeably annoyed and when I shared what the message was giving me, he snarked that it had been serviced and they most likely forgot to reset it. I cannot confirm that it had been serviced, but what a horrible message to get when youre about to embark on a road trip. However, by this time, I had no other options as I didnt pick up cars from one of the other two rental car places during the times I had reserved cars.I had the car for over a week and by day 7 or 8, the cigarette smoke had dissipated thanks to the vent clips and Febreze. The car continued to ding at me every time I turned the engine off telling me that it was overdue for a service/oil change. II serioualy prayed up and down the highway that it did not konk out on me and leave us stranded. According to the manual in the glove compartment it was a 2019 but with 55K+ miles on it, it drove like a 2010 or so. I was nervous the entire time.I did, however, vacuum it out and wipe it down with Lysol wipes prior to returning it just in case it isnt cleaned the way it should be--my good deed for the next renter.(I initially submitted this review to Hertz after receiving an email to review my experience and upon completing that review, I learned that there should have been a yellow sticker on the door confirming the car had been cleaned, PRIOR TO them giving me the key! The car definitely had not be cleaned. That is horrible and dangerous considering we are in the middle of a pandemic. Glad I went back through and cleaned it with Lysol wipes and disinfectant prior to putting my family in it!!)
Reserved a car which they didn’t have available for us when we came to pick it up. We spoke with Ryan Spisak. We have the confirmation available, and we’re able to prove it but they said they have no car available for us. They said they didn’t have our information which we could see on the screen, which was unnecessary. They had other cars for other parties but refused to admit they didn’t follow through with our reservation. Frustrating and terrible customer service… we need a car.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Over charged without authorization and STILL have no answer as to why! I rented a van from this location and was quoted $531 for a 3 day one way cargo van rental. I returned the van a day early, so expected the bill to come in Lower but ended up getting charged over $600! The van was $70 a day and being I returned a day earlier I should have gotten back some of the $531 I authorized! Ive literally been calling this location for 11 days now I started on Sept 6 and its now Sept 17, trying to get an answer, and I get is placed on hold, promises Ill get a call back and NOT ONE PERSON in this office has followed through!

I booked a reservation for a cargo van. To move a few things back and forth from church and office. I called and spoke with Ryan Speisak (name he gave me) he was the rude, unaccommodating and short. He was in a rush but told me he didnt have time to call me to let me know he was renting the van to someone else. He was uninterested in hearing what a problem he had caused me. He had to go. He didnt care about customer service. He seemed rushed or stressed. He offered to make it up to me by renting me a pickup truck for TWICE the price. He would not honor the cargo van fee although hes the one who rented a reserved van. Very dissatisfied. It was a one day rental. He made no attempt to satisfy the customer. If you are going to spend your money...I would suggest you spend it doing business with people who care. Ryan, the branch manager no less, had a busy day -heard my name - realized his error, then proceeded to blame me and tell me how busy he was. 3 customers waiting on hold...I gotta go. He told me. I plan to call hertz 800 # or find the owners contact info. Absolutely disappointed. Wish I could sue for the time he cost me.
Ryan Spisak, the branch manager, received our confirmation number, contact information, and insurance information. He told us that he tried to call us to talk to us about our rental, but we did not receive any email or call from the company. Mr. Spisak lied to us and did not get us a car even though we had everything proving that we rented the vehicle a week prior to pickup. Horrible experience.
Im still currently renting the car and using a discount through my insurance only paying like 23+ tax a day but when i called to extend it for a days while im waiting for the parts for my car they wanna charge me almost 200 more dollars on top of what I already paid im beyond annoyed with them

I was scared to rent from here after some of the reviews i read. But it was a great experience. My car was exactly what i wanted (suv) had Sirrus xm as requested abd had low mileage. The guy there (Brian or Ryan) was friendly, professional abd very helpful. They were also $350 cheaper than all the other car revitalize places. I am extremely happy, will use them again for sure!!Side note.. they are located inside pep boys. Otherwise you’ll never find them
Miserable experience. Literally do not even waste your time. Car broke down twice. Theyll charge you or hold your deposit after turn in and fight with you over your own money for no reason. Spend the extra $10 a day to go somewhere else just to avoid the headache this place is.

I have many years renting cars with herts and I never had any problems but this time I feel disappointed, I was calling 4 times trying to contact them to return the car because I had an emergency and I had the car parked for the all weekend but nobody answered and when I explained to them about the calls they are saying my phone has the problems because they are always answering the phone, I had the same problem to get the car I had called 3 times and the car was dirty btw... I dont think so was the right way to treat a customer. Need more customer service training.

Awful service, I rented a car 3 weeks ago, that car was on state inspection expired (2020) I returned that car and canceled my reservation but they never refund my deposit. When I talked with customer service they said that it will take only 24 to 48 hours but I am still waiting for my money back (almost one month waiting for supervisors approval.

Don’t use this location. Ryan will cancel your reservation if they can get a higher rate. This location is terrible, so save yourself the headache and use the Hertz locations in Alexandria or Stafford.
I rented a car from Hertz Woodbridge VA ON 06/11/20 and dropped it off in Florence AL ON 06/13/20, and I got charged $1800 for it!!! When I see the online receipt, it says I returned it on 06/22/2020 which is extra 9 days of rent, apart from extra charges!!1 I was told because of lower prices that day I was eligible for some discount, but I didnt know they would charge me this much. No winder my credit score went so low!MADLY DISAPPOINTED !!!!!!!!

So where do I begin!Two weeks ago we planned to head out of state for my Daughters Birthday. We decided to rent a car because our vehicles AC didnt work properly. So, we looked for cars in a reasonable price range. Maybe $100.00 and below, we were going to use it for the weekend, really just 1 or 2 days.We looked at the competition like any consumer. The night prior to my Daughters Bday, we decided to go with Hertz. They gave us a good deal, I thought. My daughter asked for a SUV, but we just didnt have the money for it.We showed up, and Ryan who served us at this location impressed my wife and I. Prior to serving us on our turn. He gets a call from another customer. Ryan asked us if we could excuse him for a minute. We said yes, thats fine. Well, not meaning to eavesdrop into the phone convo. But a customer got into a fender bender, for us consumers thats stressful especially when youre on vacation. Ryan jumped to action.He made sure if the Customer was alright, if their party is okay and if they needed any medical assistance. Most people would worry about the car and if they got the insurance info from the other driver and such. But Ryan, this man wasnt concerned with the car, but more so the people involved.The Customer was probably feeling stressed. And Ryan was able to calm them down, he made conversations, a meaningful connection with the customer. When he was sure the customer and their party was alright. He then asked for the other things for the car. After he got the car and insurance info from the other driver, he made sure to double back to give the Customer a peace of mind, letting them know that Hertz clearly cares about the people they serve.My customer experience with Ryan was awesome. When it was our turn, Ryan gave me keys to the Nissan Sentra. Which was the car I had reserved. However, he looked at me, and he said hed give me a truck. A truck! I was shocked, speechless, and over the moon. My Daughter was hoping wed rent a SUV. Ryan did not know that, what he did that Day was give my daughter an awesome Birthday gift.And it was for the right price, again he did not know. Hopefully he does now, and I want to thank yall at Hertz for hiring people like Ryan.On our way out after getting our car. I was impressed and my wife saw how emotional I gotten. I told her in a world full of chaos. People like Ryan are the ones we need, more empathetic and compassionate people.Hertz, you got a New Customer and I will recommend more people to rent Hertz.Thank you for making our weekend perfect.God Bless you ALL.

Isaiah made the rental process much more pleasant than it should be! I had to extend my reservation and then change my drop off last minute and Isaiah listened and helped out every step of the way. He even remembered my case when I arrived in person and was super friendly even though they were swamped and it was the end of the day for them.The one knock on Hertz is that this (all?) location for whatever reason cannot access their own full system to fix issues with my reservation. I had to call a corporate line which was annoying albeit short and the person on the phone was friendly and fixed any issues so that this Hertz location could close me out. Not this locations fault hence the 5*.
Great service in and out located inside of pepboys shop and not the koons cardealership 1 mile down. No sign or anything located outside letting you know Hertz was inside. Uses same entrance as pepboys.

I tried to rent a car today from hertz but instead they left me stranded out here with no car and didnt even take me back to get my own car back from the auto body shop from where they pick me up from so my car can get fixed . I didnt appreciate the serice and attitude that was served from RYAN SPISAK from hertz the person who picked me up from the auto body shop to go and get my rental car . After we arrived RYAN SPISAK called to get authorization for payment so i can get my rental so i asked why its not goin thru RYAN says he dont know and i even showed him i did have funds in my account to pay for rental RYAN told me to call my bank to get authorization which I did but then while I did that RYAN SPISAK speed off and left me stranded as I was speaking with my bank and they told me that hertz didnt close out my last contract and the person who told me that my contract was closed HER NAME IS TANYA FREEMAN shes the one who told me she close out my last contract and also did not give me ride to get my car back and my car was only 5 miles away after asking her politely that I needed just a ride to get my car and I also offered to give gas money in cash she said no way Im not giving you a ride you need call a uber or lyft just like everyone else does I am not giving you a ride there is now way Im giving you a ride I have things to do today those were her exact words from someone who is an employee at hertz and I dont know how she got hired she also called Ryan to check if my last contract was closed and he said he dont know what were talkin about and hang up on her. The last time I rented a car from hertz it was only for one day and TANYA said she remembered that. I really hope that i will.never need them again because this is disgusting treatment to give to someone who is very honest and polite to them which I did not get in return even though I was treated with horrible attitude I still gave them positive attitude and even though there attitude was like they didnt even want to look at me I didnt even treat them bad or negative attitude. So after waiting an hour I finally got a ride to get my car back. And I found out Hertz filed for bankruptcy. If I knew that I wouldnt go to them

Awful customer service received from general manager. GM claims he did me a favor by not charging me 9.99 a gallon for gas. Why do me a favor when your in business to make money? The fact is he over charged me for gas on the return of the vehicle so its a win/win for him. If youre looking to travel for the holidays use hertz as a last resort. Enterprise directly across the boulevard from this location has excellent customer service and fair business practices. Dont have you holidays ruined by unethical business practice choose any other rental services
I know all car rental places are busy during the holidays but it is very sad when they tell you that they will absolutely have your vehicle on Monday so you go ahead and do not pick it up on Friday just to find out that on Monday they dont have one. Unfortunately beyond that the lady called and told us that she had one if we can make it in before they close ... and after ensuring that it was a three-row SUV because we have six people that need to take a trip (I repeated this point) and she assured us that it was, two different sets of people (mom who was in accident and son, who would do her driving) drove 20 minutes to get there and it was only a two-row SUV. Bait and switch. Sad customer service. Id rather truth and transparency.
Ive always had great experiences with Hertz when Ive rented cars before, even paying a little more on occasion simply based on previous experiences and the quality of the vehicles. My experience with this Hertz location has definitely changed my opinion. I was billed for an extra day rental even after being told by the agent that I would only be billed for one day. I tried to sort it out with the location, and never heard back from the manager after several attempts. Issue still not resolved, so Im not holding out hope.

Went to rent a car. All they had left was a subcompact when Id reserved a midsize. They lost my reservation and wouldnt even take cash. Left, without a car, very unhappy about the whole experience. Cant believe they were recommended by AAA.

Very rude staff, had car troubles and needed a new car and had to call constantly to see if a car became available only to see a lot full of cars on my return date. Car was filthy when I picked it up and during drop off was barely spoken too. Customer service was horrible. Will NEVER use this company again.

First, I was instructed to use Hertz by my insurance company - I have used Enterprise in the past and have had no issues.When I was calling my insurance company, I expressly asked if I needed a reservation and was told no, I did not. Great - I went to Hertz to pick up a vehicle. I was greeted with a sarcastic Do you have a reservation? - and unfortunately no, I did not. The employee, Billy, then proceeded to get quite irate at that, and that the insurance company told me to just show up. I believe his words were Would you show up to the body shop without an appointment?... Wow. He said a few other sarcastic, angry remarks while doing my paperwork but he luckily had a vehicle, and I signed their paperwork and off I went, just glad to get away from this rude man.Last week, the body shop called and my vehicle was ready to be picked up - great news! I called to let Hertz know my vehicle was done and Id return the vehicle that night. I arranged to have another driver drive me from the rental location to the body shop to pick up my vehicle. Then I called the body shop and was told it was fine that I drop the rental off there, so I didnt need the second driver - great because that is a huge inconvenience to the other person. Rental was dropped off, and I got my vehicle back.This morning, I checked and saw a charge on my account from them, which I just assumed was from the rental going over my policy limit - no problems, just need an invoice to collect from the other persons insurance who had hit my vehicle. I called in to get a copy of my invoice, and was greeted by our favorite person, Billy. First he was rude once I said Im calling for an invoice - Well, who is this? I dont know your name. Uh, ok, you could have just asked politely like a normal human being. Then he proceeds to tell me THERE IS NO INVOICE, and starts berating me for not dropping the vehicle off at their location, they had to shut down for an hour to go get it, blah, blah, blah... I hung up. There is ZERO excuse for being so rude. I literally cannot believe how rude this man has been throughout this process. Regardless, Im disputing those charges and writing into their Corporate office about this man.Most of these other reviews say this too, and I would not have gone here had I checked prior, but DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. Im sure Hertz as a company is fine, but this location is just plain, old, TERRIBLE.

Rent from someone else. Save yourself money and time. Im already $234 out of pocket. I havent had the rental since Tuesday, its Thursday today. And Im still being charged daily every morning. Billy wasnt able to give me a receipt because they do not give receipts and said they would return my money in 24-48 hours ($50 deposit money). Thats great, the problem is. Im still being charged every single day. Went to see them at their office, he was mad that I dont wait since he is so busy and not his only customer, very unprofessional and still cant explain why Im being charged every single day even tho they already rented the car I returned to someone else. Its $234 out of my pocket today. Problem still not resolved. My hands are tight. He blamed State Farm and told me is their problem and they should refund my money. What kind of business are they running!?. State Farm doesnt understand what they are doing and cant help me either. Per State Farm I only owe them $30 because I returned the car the morning after July 12, but it would be $0 if I had returned it the night before, wow. Very disappointed.

These people are so terrible, I rented a truck for my birthday nigh out. it was a Friday I returned after they had close on sat. They charged me additional 2days because they open back on Monday. I did not pay attention to the time of operation. my one day rental was to be 118 but my credit card was charge 349.13, I agree to one day but not those horrible charges. I NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE RENT FROM HERTZ...
Unfortunately cannot give any less than one. If you want to rent the car you made a reservation for, stay away from this place. Do not be fooled by this brand. Take your business elsewhere. We made a reservation a week prior to pickup. Only to find there was no car on pickup day. They only offered a subcompact car. We reserved a full size because that is what we needed. This is a bait and switch operation. Read the other reviews! The manager will tell you that hes sorry and that it was Hertzs fault. Thats it. Useless. Called the customer service toll free, and the same. They dont have a car. They never had it. They let you make the reservation so that youre on the hook to either get an inferior car or stay stranded.
Easy process. Read a few low reviews that stated they tried without an appointment, just dont do that and youll be fine.

Im highly upset with my experience . They said it would take 30-40 minutes to come and pick me up but it took over an hour and 20. They car they gave me was covered in bug splatters and dirty on the outside. The inside was kinda clean but the vehicle had no Bluetooth so I got screwed over by Hertz.
I had a one-way rental on 6/1/17 and this location was where I dropped the rental off. I was traveling to VA from NY for the weekend and had my 50 pound dog with me. She sat on the front seat for the entire 7 hour trip.Upon arrival to Hertz on Opitz Blvd in Woodbridge I was confronted by the employee and asked if I had a dog with me. I told him that yes, I was traveling with my dog from NY and we had picked up the rental at 8 am that morning. He then told me that dogs are not allowed in Hertz vehicles per Hertz policy. I asked him to show me where in the Hertz policies it stated that as I thought it was weird that it wasnt mentioned when I picked up my rental in NY with my dog.He had an attitude and told me that of course he could show me the policy. He pulled up the policy and the policy states, Domestic pets are allowed in Hertz vehicles (excessive pet hair, soiling or damage caused by animals will result in an extra cleaning charge).At this point I was fairly annoyed because he lied to me or he is just not familiar with policies where he works. He did attempt to say I could be charged a cleaning fee due to dog hair but the dog hair was not excessive and it was from regular travel with a dog. As anyone knows who owns a dog or has been around a dog it is that they do have minor shedding because they are a dog and they have hair. My dog never even stepped foot in the back seat of the car. In the end I was not charged an extra fee but I did not appreciate the dishonesty about the pet policy. I am still wondering if he would have charged me had I not asked him to show me the pet policy.

Had the worst experience at hertz in woodbridge va my boyfriend Paul is a independent travel agent through Intel travel...intel travel is partnered with hertz so we book a rental with hertz on Monday Dec 31st for 3days....it was a Hyundai Sonata he drove the car to Baltimore it was the most uncomfortable ride it sound like a truck, even going at 40miles per hour you hear a loud roaring noise sound like a wheel bearing... so imagine driving on 95 with it, if you let go of the gas the car pulls and I could feel tire vibrations...so on Tuesday Jan 1st we went to hertz to return it and found out it was close due to holidays so we end up driving my car because of the problems with the rental...So on January 3, 2019 we had to go to west va we took the rental to hertz to get another car and let the rep know the problems....he put us in a Nissan Altima but no remorse for the lemon rental he gave us not even a extension for the day we didnt use it...the Altima he put us in had warped rotors and keyed all the way around...So dont waste your time or money at this rental car place go across the street to Enterprise...im very disappointed!

I rent from this Hertz location because of the professionalism of the staff. Impair and Jeana are awesome. I am very surprised though by the lack of size, selection, and rental locations in the area of 22025. The business model does not make sense. There are 5 Enterprise locations and only one small Hertz. And this solo Hertz and the one in Fredericksburg,VA is constantly overbooked. If it was not for the Herts rewards and them typically being at most major airport terminals, I would be tempted to switch to Enterprise. I still ponder switching now and again because of the convenience. And if I am pondering that, how much business and brand usage does Hertz lose? 22025 is right between Fort Belvoir, Quantico, and on a mass traffic area of I-95. Hertzs philosophy of reducing satellite rental areas and only having airport locations is seriously making me question my usage of them. For now, a loyal customer.
