My husband and I invested several months in attempts to purchase a home. The market is not favorable to buyers right now so we decided to seek a rental property that would accommodate and suit our family until the market shifts. Our credit score took several hits from lenders upon our journey of trying to buy, as we entered into the rental market, we continued to get denied by other property management companies.MAIN STREET RENEWAL came through for us! They approved us when everyone else denied us. They are professional, responsive, their Leasing agents are personable and attentive. I have nothing derogatory to say about this company.Thank You MainStreet Renewal!

Provided a 60 day notice. They did respond with we are not renewing your lease…I was at this house for 8 years already. I moved our before the lease ended, but Congo pay the rent and renters insurance (I brought a house). They served with me with eviction papers stating I owed them three months rent. I have the correspondence of them accepting my notice to vacate. Mainstreet sent me a ungodly balance and eviction paperwork. I’ve talked to a lawyer to have the balance resend but they have me STILL owing them more than $1500. No explanation of why.

Rented a new home. Couldnt move in because the power was never tested and no appliances would work. Finally had to get duke energy to replace the meter on the outside. Bad start but no attempt by anyone on main street renewal team to help in any way. Then at the end of my lease even though I made multiple attempts to notify of my intent to move out(finally just left an email) they charged me rent for the month after I moved out. 3 conversations later still dont have my money back. I would recommend renting from just about anyone other than this shady corporation.

I have never posted a google review and sad to say my first one is about this horrid situation I am in. I am suppose to start renting a home today, a Sunday. I have paid my move in fees and received an email at 8:30 pm on Friday that I still owed move in fees and to contact them to get the payment made. I sent an email back that night advising the online portal shows the remaining balance. On Saturday I got an email back doubling down and showing they were missing the security deposit. I then responded that afternoon with screenshots of the amounts coming from my bank labeled as mainstreet renewals and also the online portal showing the amount due. I waited about an hour and received no response. So I called the number on the email and got to an after hours receptionist that could only take a message to be reviewed on Monday. I then called the number from my initial emails with a leasing agent and got a customer service rep. This rep couldn’t really do anything. She confirmed she saw the unapplied credit amount on the portal and that she would send an email, but it was too the same email account I was already not have if luck with. I asked if she couldMark it urgent and state I require an immediate call back. She stated she would and since she saw the amount the email should generate at 11:59 pm to send me the info to get into the house. It is now 1:21 AM on 8/1/21 and I have not received an email with info to get in the house, not info about my case being reviewed, and I never got a phone call. I am an NC transplant and my apartment lease ended 7/31/2021 I fear I am going to be stuck paying month to month rent as well as additional U-Haul fees as well as missing work Monday to move in IF and only IF we can get it all settled. Hoping this brings some attention to my issue though I doubt it will since it’s still the weekend and apparently this company does not think their tenants would require help on the weekends nor that those with weekend move in dates should be contacted before business closing on a Friday beforeIf issues arise.

I cannot express this enough..... do not even consider renting from this company. We have been renting from them for 4 years and our experience has been horrible. Our house leaks and our plumbing fails every few months. The maintenance people who come out to fix it... never actually fix it. They have put paint over the molded baseboards on multiple occasions in our master bedroom. It’s so unsafe we have hired a mold testing company and are seeking immediate legal action. They also falsified our latest lease agreement. Like other posts I’ve read here, they are attempting to obtain money under false pretenses. Please, save yourself the headache and lease elsewhere.

We have emailed literally everyone with MSR renewal, move out, support via the portal. We have received minimal to no response. We have our notice to vacant back in May. We signed an agreement with a vacate date of July 1st! Every time I call anyone I get disconnected or hung up on. We no longer live at the property. We are no longer responsible for the property. We shut off utilities and did all the move out requirements from having it cleaned and looking pretty before we turned in the keys.We paid rent for July even though we vacated July 1st. We were told we would get our rent back from July along with our security deposit which is $1345 + ($1345 prorated for July). We were told we would receive this within 30 days of notice to vacant/vacated the property. It’s been over 30 days. Everyone I talk to says the payment is pending, processing, received an error on their system and then I get hung up on. It’s like MSR STOLE our money. We absolutely need our security deposit back and the prorated rent from July. The property doesn’t even appear to be inspected and it’s not even back on MSR for lease. I’ve driven past the property and the grass is like a foot tall!We have never even met anyone from MSR and all he local offices are closed! Anyone I talk to isn’t even form the area and hangs up like it’s not their problem.

I am a tenant on their third year with Main Street who has never been late in payment, nor has been difficult in dealing with any HOA requirements my home has.I say that to explain why the blatent unprofessionalisum and disrespect this company shows its tenants is unacceptable.I have an extremely difficult time getting ahold of anyone for any reason, when the home needed a majoir repair (running water from busted pipes coming down from the ceiling in the kitchen) it took them an entire WEEK to come out, and then the repair man destroyed several items in my kitchen by getting plaster and paint on them. I let all that go, until today when I tried to get in contact with someone simply to make sure they has my new payment information and was put on hold (Im hearing laughing in the background) then hung up on. Im completely done with this company. I will not be renewing my lease and will be reporting this company to the BBB.

We have tried numerous times to get in contact with someone and resolve the issue but there has been no help and no effort. There triad office is close and no one on the help lines know what to do or how to fix anything. Our next step is to take legal action and termination our lease because this is ridiculous. Didnt have any major issues with the home I rented from them until the AC near the end, and it wasnt a big deal. The chain of communication inside the organization is average to slightly below average, and I honestly expected a little more from having paid so much. Also their website for paying/maintaining lease documents etc. has the bare minimum of information required, and youre better off just sending an email and waiting for however long it takes them to respond than trying to find information on the site. Not a bad experience overall, but for the money it should have been much better. Also they jacked my rent up astronomically at the end of my lease. I guess they dont want you staying longer than a year.

The picture of the house on the website was fake - they dressed it up - neighborhood was terrible. When I got there and put in the code to open the key box, there was no key in the box. Waste of time! Its hard to get a hold any anyone so I cant imagine trying to get something fixed at a house rented by them - would take forever. The phone operators are nice but Im not impressed and I will be asking for my application fee back from them. Total waste!!

I would give no stars if I could. I was moving from PA and NC and decided to rent until I knew the area. I was told the house would be cleaned and the yard mowed and gardens trimmer but I would need to maintain it. I drove 9 hours to walk into the house very dirty and the yard over grown. I spend two days cleaning and there was things left by the previous people in the house. There was multiple other issues with house also. This was all in emails and pictures taken. When I moved out in March, I throughly cleaned the house, shampooed the carpets and even had the over grown hill in my background cleaned up. They are fighting me saying the house was not cleaned and took half my deposit. As of today, I still haven’t received the other half of the deposit that is owed to me. I disputed the claim and now no one will respond to me.

Upon move in, I noticed a few things that needed attention. After putting my maintenance request in, they responded promptly. I received an email with directions on when/how to contact the responding technician. I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced a technician who was quite as professional and personable as Dustin. The two character traits seem very rare to come by in a single employee. While I felt I was nagging a bit, he calmly noted all of my concerns and assured me that they would be taken care of. Dustin fixed my dishwasher and garbage disposal the same day. My garage (one of my biggest concerns) was fixed by a third party company just a few short days later, thanks to his immediate service request. Main Street is lucky to have such a pleasant and professional maintenance technician. My move-in has been awesome, and problems resolved! If you get Dustin as your technician for any maintenance request, I promise you’re in good hands.

We moved in this past Thursday. The water has been backing up into our house and overflowing the sinks, dishwasher and washing machine drain. We notified Main Street Renewals by phone and email. They connected us with a local maintenance company who sent a technician in without the necessary tools to resolve the issue, so he left. The issue is not resolved. We cannot wash clothes. We cannot wash dishes. What can I run the dishwasher. We cannot do anything water related because the drain pipe backs up and overflows onto the floor all over the house. After about 18 hours, the water subsided, but never fully drained. If we run the water again, it will fill up and overflow.

Main street came out to fix it and never billed me or even notified me that I was going to be built. Six months later when it was time for me to move out I get a $500 bill from out of nowhere. Not as bad as most of these reviews make them out to be. I found a house that I really liked, but I took at look at MSRs ratings and found myself in serious doubt. I took a chance, and I would say if the house you are moving into is fairly new and wont require tons of maintenance, you should be fine.On that note I will say MSR is very hard to get a hold of on the phone. When I first signed the lease, I had to call their office 5 times in a row just to get someone to answer a very time sensitive question over the phone, they had their voicemail turned off. The reviews on here about not being able to get a hold of this company over the phone are true.I also had a problem with a yellow jacket nest living on the inside of my outer wall since before I moved in. MSR refused to fix this and said it was a resident responsibility. I had to pay for my own exterminator to remove them professionally as it was a large nest deep up inside my wall.Other than those two incidents, the house we moved into was nice and didnt have many issues. A few of the minor issues I did have that were not time sensitive were fixed in a reasonable amount of time by their maintenance crews who were friendly. I also received a good portion of my security deposit back, something I was reading in these other reviews that concerned me.Overall I would say this company is not as bad as it is made out to be. Just dont expect a timely response from them if it is an urgent matter.

I probably wouldnt have signed my lease if I knew how unresponsive they were with emergencies. If you have any emergency issues with your home then it takes them 24-48 business day hours to review a work order request. For example, the person that was going to work on my home was ready to start but had to wait 48 hours for this company to approve the work order. If you cant live in the home due to an emergency then it still takes 24-48 business day hours for them to review a hotel request. They have zero weekend plumbers on their vendor list even though there are several in the Triad region so if you have a sewage backup then youll have to live with it until Monday or Tuesday.Customer service doesnt have power to expedite or communicate properly with the team approving the work orders. All they can do is send an email asking for them to hurry up. I have a baby and puppy and that still doesnt improve their response time and that makes them appear to not care about their tenants.

We love the house and the layout, we just want to get comfortable and not have to deal with something every week. Prospective renters beware! This company will keep your security deposit despite whatever condition you move into or move out of the property. When we moved in the walls clearly had some mismatched paint and spackled holes from TV mounts and other stuff of previous tenants. We clearly noted that on the move in form and that didn’t stop them from charging 500 dollars in painting and drywall repair fees. Also we left the house in a spotless condition upon moveout they still charged 300 dollars in cleaning fees. I had the feeling that something like this would happen and took photos and videos of the house in move out condition. I fought them on it to get meager partial refund. The company also has a central headquarters that seems to handle everything. When you call they direct you to email specific departments. Once there, your email chain goes to a group pool where it the same chain will have different people responding back from one email to the next. It took over 2 weeks to get our early lease termination sorted out due to this mess. Likewise with the previously mentioned security deposit fight, they would just pass round the emails and downright not respond to the questions I would ask or reply to my attempts to follow up. If this business didn’t have captive customers, they surely would no longer be in business run like this.In the interest of a fair review I’ll throw them a bone. When the AC died last summer they had someone out the next day.

I recently had my first issue arise during my lease with Main Street Renewal. At first I tried to reach out by calling the office. The person I spoke with there said they would send an email to the correct department and copy me on this so I would be kept in the loop. I never received an email or heard from anywhere else on the issue. After over a week of waiting I attempted to reach out to my Resident Experience Specialist (who had been extremely helpful during move in) but it appears they were no longer with the company. I then reached out to the Area Manager. I got a textbook response. I then replied stating a few points that showed my side of the situation. After over a week I still have not received a reply to show they care about me as a customer during this issue. Its a shame that the person who was very helpful is gone and the others I am left to rely on dont seem to care or have the consideration of following up.Update: Despite getting a very quick response to this negative review of their company it seems they have no legitimate intention of addressing my concerns. Per their request in response to my review I emailed details of my issue and my concerns. I then waited two weeks with no response. I sent another email earlier this week.....and still no response. It appears the responses to the negative reviews on this site are simply an attempt to save face with no actual intentions of taking care of their customers.

This is by far the worst property management company I have ever rented from....I rented the house in January; 3 weeks before I arrived from the other side of the country. When I arrived, the house did not have heat or hot water and there were multiple other issues. Appliances did not work, there were electrical issues, water leaking issues from the second floor, roof issues and I was starting a new job in 3 days. Trust me when I say they did not care and expected me to be available at a moments notice for repair people to come and “look” at what was wrong and then set another appointment, after they got approval, to fix the issue. I have been in the house almost 5 months and the repairs are still not completed. I was told that exposed electrical wiring (which their person left that way) was not critical and the maintenance request was closed. I have sent emails with pictures, opened numerous maintenance requests and have been on hold for hours to try and get things done. Today was the frosting on this horrible cake…..they have been billing me for renters insurance since I moved in; I have sent my policy to multiple people via email and my agent has sent it 5 times to their office. After being on hold for 24 minutes I left my number for their level 2 rep to call me back. I received a call and was told that they had received my renters insurance policy multiple times but it did not meet their standard…you see the address that my agent put on the policy for MSR was not the Texas office, it was the local office, so I have to pay for their renters insurance policy; remember they verified that they have received my policy multiple times and they have never contacted me to tell me that even though they have proof of the policy and that I’m covered the address needed to be changed. And, I live in a very high-end house for the area, I would absolutely hate to see the houses that are mid-range rent. So, do yourself a favor and do not walk away from a house that is managed by this company, but RUN!!!

I went onto MSR website/residence portal and completed a maintenance request. 3 days has gone by and no AC with the temp in the house at 89 degrees. I called to get a update and MSR maintenance confirms my request was never placed in their system and tells me no one is available to visit the rental property until the following Monday.. that will be another 3 more days of no AC with 90+ temps. So frustrated. I advise not to rent from this company. For rental properties, I recommend Invitation Homes.

STAY AWAY! See the complaints on the better business bureau and yelp.com reviews. Please note that the reviews are mostly of maintenance staff - who are good or are third party contractors. They do a wonderful job. The leadership, managers and overall quality of homes and care are issues. There are rewards, contests and incentives for people to give 5 star reviews -so these are not representative of most peoples experiences - only those who want to give 5 star reviews for rewardsMy wife and I are both college educated with good jobs and main street renewal has been a disaster to be a tenant with. The house was in horrible condition when moving in with multiple code violations and trash strewn about inside and out, including nails and sharp objects embedded in the carpet, a dangerous deck and no smoke detectors at move in.They take very poor care of the house and look for the cheapest solution always to fix issues with the house. Both computer glitches and poor accounting on their part cost us close to $1000, which MSR refused to take responsibility for.Everything is difficult. They tie up half your day with requesting any maintenance request, often these requests are cancelled without your knowledge and then you are required to wait at home for half a day for repairs.Worst of all, is that it was impossible to speak with anyone who had any responsibility or cared. We complained about the poor condition at move in for months, until we realized that the managers or the resident care team could not provide any service. You have to make request to the escalation team. The individual from the escalation gave me a brief email response and then refused to answer any of my follow up emails or speak with me for 5 minutes. I tried emailing the [email protected] three times with no responseUPDATE 6/27:To Will - Brand specialist. The AC was one of the few things that worked at our residence. Your response is to the wrong occupant. My review of the poor leadership, quality of housing and materials, and dirty/ unsafe conditions was not based on a simple HVAC issue.

*UPDATE* We are supposed to move in to our home tomorrow 6/6/2020. It will be 90 degrees here tomorrow. We were only just now, 5 pm day before move in, informed by Rachel Closner that our HVAC isn’t functioning. We are supposed to move into a house with our small child in 90 degree heat and no functioning air conditioning. If you are considering renting from these people, let that bit of information sink in. *End of update*The folks in Texas have been great. Unfortunately the identified manager in the Winston-Salem / Triad office, Rachel Closner, is incredibly rude, unresponsive, evasive and unaccountable. We are scheduled to move into a MSR property in two days. The past two weeks has been a complete nightmare and excerise in futility. I have spent hours / days trying to get basic information about our move in (this is not an exaggeration) It has to be one of the most frustrating experiences Ive had. Multiple emails have gone unanswered and multiple hours spent calling a local number only for my call to be sent to a call center overseas. I needed simple information about utilities, where we could expect to find they keys to the house on move in day (we have movers scheduled that morning). Basic move in information that should have been provided, I spent hours and hours on trying to get simple answers. Moving under the best of circumstances is stressful. Moving during covid 19 makes that stress exponentially worse. Rachel Closner, her rudeness, unwillingess to communicate in a timely manor and Main Street Renewals overall corporate structure have made this move the absolute most unpleasant of my life.

I have been trying to rent a house and they messaged me at first when everything was fine and we got our applications turned in but then was trying to say that we gave them the wrong email and was possibly using someone else’s information and I went back and asked our friend that was going to be moving with us if he gave me the wrong email just to find out it was the agents fault in putting the wrong email in. I emailed her and even called and got hung up on and called and left a message to try to get the mistake fixed but yet have not been called back or received an email. That is very poor and unprofessional in my case to try to make a potential renter look like that.

Anytime you try to this company no one calls you back . I’ve tried calling this company over the last 3 years when I see home . No one ever answers or calls back . So just maybe they wouldn’t be good to rent from .
