I went into my local Lowe’s to get a new key cut for my house and it was very early in the morning and since there were very few employees there I saw the minute key kiosk. I went right up to the minute key kiosk stuck my key in and it walked me through the steps incredibly easy to use. They have basic keys and of course all of the adorable keys that you could ever want. Took me less than five minutes to get three keys made and it was a lot faster than waiting for a Lowe’s employee to be paged to the Chi cutting department. I will always use the Minute Key kiosk from now on.
I appreciate the convenience of Minute Key as it is a very useful tool for my business. However, their pricing strategy is a bit manipulative for my liking. On the front-end, you are offered a Buy an additional key; get the third key for free. For my business, more often than not, I need one and sometimes two copies of a key; but very rarely, if ever THREE duplicate keys. So, I end up paying full price (currently $4.00) for one duplicate key; however, I have trained myself reasonably well to hold out until AFTER the duplicate has been made before I am finally presented with a SECOND duplicate key for the reduced price of, I believe, $1.49. When needed, I choose that option. But, the fact that I have to WAIT all the way to the end of the entire process before Im offered such a discount feels, as I said, quite manipulative on their part. Just offer me the additional key at the start instead of - or even in addition to - the buy two, get one free offer and Id feel much better about your pricing approach, you and even myself (cause sometimes I need two keys and forget to wait until the end and pay $8.00 for two keys - which, admittedly, causes me to beat myself up for the remainder of the day!)
Ive used Minute Key machines several times since 2015 or so for door key copies and have never had a bad one. I did notice on 5/31/21 that the price had increased by $1 (from $3 per copy to $4) but the third copy being free still makes it a good value IMO. Plus, no waiting for someone to copy the key for me, the machine is there and ready to go.
The experience met my expectations. It was easy to use.
The locksmith was incompetent and charged me a fee for a service he could not complete. Do not call this locksmith because you will lose money and the issue will remain.
Very fast and easy process!
Worked great
Easy to use
It is cheap. Its fast. I wish I had the same color as the original key
