Did a trip to Wilmington to go to the beach but decided to get some rounds in at the jiu jitsu institute. Super friendly place. Great professor. Had some good hard fun rolls and everybody was super nice. Five stars. 10 out of 10. Would recommend.

My son and I started this journey together in 2020. We have enjoyed our experience so much and my now 13 year old is growing so much as a young man. It’s a great experience for us to learn and do this together. Gil is a great instructor and the crew there is great to learn and roll with.

You can learn BJJ at a lot of places. Not a lot of places though make you feel like family like this one does. No egos, just great instructions and camaraderie. The students can be a great representation of the atmosphere of a gym and the students here are top notch. The Professor here likes to have a good time but takes teaching & training serious, which is a great combination for me. Highly recommend for anyone looking to better themselves. Just don’t puke on the matt.

Very professional and well organized school, headed by a top notch professor and coaches who teach under him. All of whom are extremely knowledgeable to say the least. A strong camaraderie exists amongst the students at JJI and the school has a great reputation. 🤙

JJI is the first jiu jitsu gym I have ever tried and I feel like I got super lucky! Gil and the other higher level belts give great instruction. JJI is an amazing place to train Brazilian jujitsu. An inclusive environment with men and women of all ages and abilities. A perfect place to begin learning Jujitsu with an amazingly well trained instructor, Gil, who’s extremely helpful and understanding for all who enter.

I was excited when this place was being built. The people here are outstanding and very friendly. The coaches are excellent in their instruction. They also have a very solid kids program running here. I highly recommend you give this gym a shot if you havent already. You wont be disappointed. I find myself these days only able to come on Sundays for their open mat sessions and never leave disappointed. The training is great!

For obvious reasons I wanted my teen daughter to learn how to get herself out of Physically dangerous holds. She did not want go at all, after the second session she looked at me square face in the eye and said I love it!She has a ready learned a couple of awesome moves she feels strong and confident. The folks are awesome patient welcoming and kind sweet bunch of people men and women alike.

I anxiously waited for this gym to open for months and I’m so happy I did. The gym is very well maintained and clean. The instructor is great as well, always ensuring a safe and welcoming training environment. Both the kids and adult instructors go the extra mile to ensure the progression of their students. If you’ve been trying to get into Jiu Jitsu I would highly recommend trying this academy out!

The JJI is amazing place to train if you’re looking for a friendly and knowledgeable place to practice Jiu Jitsu. The Instructor and higher belts know what they’re teaching and go at a moderate pace for all levels. Between the dynamic class hours to the well cleaned gym floors, I can’t think of a single reason as to why I would want to train somewhere else.

Gil has created the best place in town for Jiu Jitsu. Clean mats, super inviting, and no gym drama. Gil has transformed my son from being an average competitor to a beast. Excellent role models here. Highly recommended to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Great, friendly atmosphere with a top notch instructor. Clean facility with an amazing group of guys. Always excited about coming in and learning something new or improving on what I already did learn. Gil received his brown belt under the Mendez brothers so his skills are legitamite and hes willing to share them. Would recommend ANYONE try this academy of ALL skill sets.

Coming in completely new to any sort of combat sport I really appreciated how patient all of the members here have been with me, everyone has had a helpful attitude. The instructor Gil and assistant instructor are easy going and well suited to teach, they’re happy to pass on knowledge. Definitely a great learning environment.

JJI is a great place to train, both for people that have tried Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and also for veterans of the art/sport. Theres a great mix of students at this clean, professional facility. Gil (the owner) is an experienced instructor that has traveled the country for years to improve his own abilities as a practitioner of the art and also as an instructor. His classes are easy to follow, they follow a progression, and there are gems in every class for new students and senior students. Theres also plenty of time for sparring, and the environment is open, welcome, and fun, while also providing a challenging environment for students to grow and develop!

The best place to train. With my experience with schools in town this is surly the cleanest. The instruction is the best, if you cant understand something it will get broken down for you so you then can understand and get the technique down. You should come and check the school out!

We are very happy with JJI the staff are very friendly. It is not Intimidating for beginners. I have two kids in the kids class and they love it here. The instructors are excellent and work very well with the kids.

The facility is clean and inviting. There are a number of high level belts on the mat every night, as well as new students. The instruction is excellent, probably the best in town. Professor Gil trained with the Mendes brothers at AOJ, so his technique is legit and learned from some of the best, not self taught. The kids program is top-notch, teaching the kids excellent technique in an open, intimidating environment where they are encouraged to be kids, while still teaching them about discipline and respect. The environment is open and welcoming and genuine without any intimidation tactics or pressure. I highly recommend stopping in and trying it out.

I’ve been doing jiu jitsu for a few years now and have trained at multiple gyms across the country. I was very impressed tonight at JJI.
