I have loved everything about James city county rec center, they are the best place to go and exercise with my Arc friends every time we go there,i wish they have punching bags that we can use 1 night

It was very pleasant and encouraging.

I attended a Zumba class this am with Felix as the instructor. We are vacationing at a nearby resort and he came to instruct our water aerobics class. He mixes 80’s music and Latin inspired upbeat music. Stretching before and after and encouraged to drink water throughout the class. Felix is fun and encouraging. Students have a wide range of abilities and age. I highly recommend this class. The recreation center is clean and observe Covid rules to the letter. You can exercise and have a no touch experience as the doors are propped open. Weight machines have been moved into the gym to provide for more space. Great place.

Ive been going here since I was 8 years old so this place holds a lot of memories for me.From having fun with my friends, to learning weights for the first time, or hanging out downstairs playing air hockey or racket ball.The price is very good for what they offer and compared to other gyms, its a deal.Going here during covid times is great and I feel safe. I never see anyone without a mask and everything is bejng cleaned like every 10 min.The bathrooms are always being cleaned as well and the staff is kind and helpful.I came back because American Family fitness was expensive and while I loved that gym too, I felt the rec center offers more and has a pool.I missed going swimming.Anyways the rec center is awesome so if youre looking for a gym, stop by and look at this one!

Its clean and fine, nothing special.

I used to love this gym. They implemented sensible Covid-19 protocols, but they refuse to enforce them. People walk up and down stairs, around the track, between machines without wearing face coverings. People crowd around machines with no face coverings and no social distancing. Staff members do not enforce guidelines. Ive complained multiple times, but nothing has changed. It is not safe to work out here right now. UPDATE: Management reached out and could not be more understanding. I dont feel safe there now, but they are working to address the issues.

Voted today (9-22-2020) at the Voting Center set up by James City County officials at the Rec Center. Very well-run, sanitary, and quick - we got there about 2:30pm on a Tuesday.

This is a nice gym, I go three times a week to work out. They have a track that circles the floor above the basketball court, a pool with a wading section for kids and a ramp to a walking Lane, plus swimming lanes. They have weight machines, treadmills, cycling machines, row machines, stairmasters, your standard gym equipment. Its affordable too which is nice. The staff is pretty nice and accommodating. Ive enjoyed my time with this gym. Tends to pick up in traffic at times. They have tons of classes and they have some teams as well. Overall just a pretty great place.

Definitely a place to go for a great fitness experience. Staff is super friendly. I like the fact that Rec center has sauna and swimming pool in same facility. Prices could be cheaper for locals that live in Williamsburg city or James city county or Annual membership could be made more attractive to members. I am also upset because free hours has been canceled by rec. center management.

The 1 year combo pass was a gift to myself this January. Ive been so happy with this place so far, wish I had discovered it sooner! There are TONS of classes to choose from. I try to make it to 3-4 a week. The childcare is a nice offering, just wish it was open longer than just 9-noon. A few more evening and weekend classes would also be nice for those of us who work. Overall, I am really enjoying my membership and feel it is so worth the cost. Havent scoped out the aquatic facilites yet and am hoping to try out the sauna soon.

Great place for exercise, recreation and rooms to host events. Staff is always helpful and accommodating. The life guards may seem strict while in the pool area but you come to appreciate them when you see why: I have seen people walking and they slipped accidentally. Also it means that they are on the job and always watching. What I love most about the facility is the kid friendly pool. No more than 3ft, but there is a ramp entering the pool therefore babies can even get wet. Not sure if I appreciate having a membership vs paying for extracurricular activities outside the membership. But it is okay.

I went here for the skate park. The skate park itself was excellent. It was very clean and well kept. The paved trail and other amenities were a pleasant surprise! The park was very fun for all ages. There are other things such as a pool onsite that you can pay a very small daily rate to use. The grounds were all very clean. We will be back to enjoy the other things it has to offer.

Ive been going to the Rec Center on and off for several years and I would highly recommend it to the locals. Its a family fitness center for people of all ages and abilities, at a great price, with plenty of cool amenities. Full sized indoor pool, basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields, a small skate park, day care options and a play ground, event spaces, a clean gym area and track with a variety of machinery just to name a few. Please go see for yourself how awesome this place is.

I love this gym been going here since I was nine years old... Weight room, basketball court, pool,, racket ball, soccer, track, anything you can think of is in here. The only. Gym that has everything you. The staff is genuine, friendly, and very helpful. I would recommend this job to anybody

Just got a monthly membership while here for work and its been great! Pool, indoor basketball and racquetball courts, running track...great place! Only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 stars, is solely based on price. $50/mth is a bit pricey.

We like this place a lot. Clean, friendly staff, convenient location etc.This place should be an example for other government run facilities.If it wasnt for the hours of operation, I would give 5 stars.I hope they would consider keeping it open till 9pm every day if the week:)

Decent Building but weight facilities need an upgrade. Also weekend hours are too limited, especially Sunday (1pm - 6pm). But give credit to the county as the center overall is a positive

Very pleased with how friendly people are. I just joined and was told something that was a little shocking to me that years ago $65 got you six months of gym and pool now $65 only get you three months thats a little disappointing. But the place is clean and the people are very nice.

Love going here. I love how they have child care in the morning from 9-12 and you can take youre children for 2 of the 3 hours while you go upstairs and workout or run track outside or swim, etc... Wish theyd bring the evening childcare back though. Also wish when they have little leagues outside at the fields that they had more parking. During those times the parking lot is so full that theres nowhere to park and you have to wait until someone leaves from inside the REC Center. So Im giving 4 stars but if they had more parking and more child care hours I would give 5. Overall a great place!

I called to ask a question regarding guidelines with pool openings and was made to feel like I was a complete annoyance. I am trying to follow the COVID guidelines for the county, and wanted to make sure we are complying. Does anyone know what the guidelines are for re-opening apartment community pools?

My kids did swim lessons here. They loved it and the lessons were effective. The kiddie pool is really big and has a gradual slope, so kids of all ages play in it. There are 3 locker rooms: men, woman and family. The rest of the facility is great too. There is a large gym, track and basketball courts. They also have racketball if you are into that.

Large variety of exercise machines, free weights, basketball courts, good indoor walking area, sauna, excellent Olympic size swimming pool, and whirlpool. Locker room needs more space benches too close together. Staff professional, and friendly.

Closing basketball at 6PM for NO reason when the rest of the rec center stays open is ridiculous!

Its always a pleasure, staff is nice, polite and helpful there is all types of equipment for all types of training .. I really enjoy working out there!

I go there with a client but it a wonderful place workout at but I really enjoy whenever we walk the track for that day.

Very nice facility with lots to do. I wish Hampton would get on the band wagon and build one! I also take pottery lessons there which is something else Hampton doesnt have. So yes, I drive 80 miles round-trip to go here. That says it all.

This is a well kept facility. They have a lot of cool things to do including ping pong, pool, an actual pool, an indoor running track, and an indoor basketball court.

Im very new to this but I was given instruction on the equipment that help me reach my goal. The Rec Center is so clean and its filled with skilled helpful people. Im very happy I finally took the plunge at 72 and joined a gym!!!

Its hard to compete with the facilities and amenities at the REC Center. The could expand their fitness class offerings and child care would really increase membership. Many of the programs are geared toward 60+ which means we have quite an active senior population which is great!

The need to maintain the park better Ive never seen the handicap swings fixed Ive been going a long time. Otherwise its great, my son loves to swim play rachect ball and basketball. Wish he was allowed to use equipment at 7 with parents there.

Very clean work out environment. There are tons of machines and a very large pool. Changing rooms are kept very clean. At times it gets a bit crowded but other than that its an excellent place to go.

As a resident of Williamsburg there is no better option for you to go to ! This facility has everything you need for yourself to stay in shape! Plus on everything they have the best deals on memberships not only in Williamsburg but in whole US, since Ive been many places! $75 for 3 months equals $25 a month, and you can use gym, pool, and basketball court. The only reason of giving 4 instead of 5 stars are hours of operations! Mostly they closing at 9pm and weekends at 6pm ...Most other places closing 11pm ...which makes big difference if you have other things to do through day!
