Gives you about less than half of the value of your items are worth on trades or trade ins and thats less than any other competing place. The owner John is not a bad bad guy but dont expect to get paid what your items are worth. Store shopping is fair to decent most likely if you are looking for somthing youll find it here and John the owner can help you!

They were very informative, up front about costs and they didnt try to over sell the issue I had with my needed repair. 2days and the fix was finished and console is working as brand new. I highly recommend this place!

A wide selection of gaming systems and games, retro and current, used and new. I would recommend at least a look if youre in the market for games or looking for a gift for someone who is.4/5 stars due to personal experience.Purchased N64 game Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, an older game that is harder to find without paying high prices used (or low prices for new Chinese copies). They had it moderately priced (+) in decent condition. The title art was faded and dirty, but it was used and price reflected status.Staff informed me the game had been tested. I purchased and made my way home. My son is an anime and JRPG fan so we sat down to play and the game did not function (-).Inspecting the game closer, the pins that hold the cartridge in the system were bent, preventing a good lock, fixed with needle nose pliers and patience. The game still did not boot.Opening the cartridge it was clear someone had attempted MINOR repair. It had been cleaned poorly (streaks of dirt present from earlier cleaning), screws not completely seated, and bent plastic case holding PCB in metal housing. After removing all parts, cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and lint free cloth, and proper reassembly without bending parts, the game does indeed work and my son loves it.Overall, great local store to support the community and get rare and retro games. If youre buying be sure to ask to see used merchandise work before purchasing or be prepared to put in some time to get it working yourself.

I was having issues with my PS4. I took it to this place and they stated that the issue could have been two things and I would receive a call about any new developments. After a week, I called and asked for the status of the PS4. I was told that only one of the issues had slightly been resolved and the other was still in progress. Again, “I would get a call with anything new”. After two weeks of not getting a call back, I called the store and was told that the issues could not be determined. While also on this call, I asked if there was a PS4 in stock and was told yes and that it would be put on hold for once I got to the store. I got to the store to pick up my “un-repairable” PS4 and was also picking up the PS4 they had in stock, the employee stated that I could not get the PS4 because I “missed the holding limit” on it and a gentleman had called after me to pick it. At this point I had already called and arrived in the store before the other gentleman got there and was still told I could not buy the PS4 because it was “too late”. I think the amount of effort put into the entire situation was unfair and unprofessional. Highly disappointed at the service! Would not recommend!!!

I have gone 3 weekends in a row to this store and I can say that it is an amazing place to get retro and newer game items. The variety of games and consoles makes it great for a collector such as myself but for anyone looking to pick up something just to play. The prices are incredibly reasonable compared to some of the other places I have been and I will most certainly be back there for more!

Now I know there may be a lot of good reviews on this store but trust me. Dont come here unless you are buying games dont get anything repaired here they dont give you updates or even call you at all. I took my Xbox there a bit ago and it was suppose see you be 200$ for the repairs (plus they make you put down 20$ for diagnostics) its been total radio silence the whole time because the repair guy bought parts offline that are supposedly taking more then 3 weeks to come. Very sketchy. I picked up my console and Ill just either get a new board in it or buy a new Xbox. Not worth coming here.

We drove all the way out to this store from Shamokin Dam and will do it again just for the customer service and game selection. Weve recommended this place to several friends already

This is why places like this are always better than GameStop. You can go in and get any game you want from any system, new or old. On top of that, they have a selection of movies and other cool accessories. Oh, did I mention that the people here are very nice?

Was going to buy ps4 pro, called them and said that if I had receipt for xbox one I could get full value. Liar said I can only get half credit. Dont go here. This store is awful and loves to rip you off with their shady business practices.

I love this place. Has tons of old school games and consoles as well as new stuff. My personal favorite thing is the movies and selections of. The employers have always been very nice and helpful. Also, the prices of their games and accessories are great, and its only like $2 to fix a disc with state of the art equipment!

We had a great experience here. We came here for a PS2 memory card and controllers, and the staff immediately helped us find them. We ended up spending over a half hour in the store checking out the old games and systems. Talk about nostalgia! Would absolutely recommend to anybody!

Ive come here many times for my older consoles. My N64 Ive replaced a few cables and some memory, and every time I do, if I find that I had bought something I didnt need or the wrong part, they always let me return it and are very helpful. They always help me test my stuff as well for my older games. All the people who work here are nice, and knowledgeable on games. Ive never sold my stuff to them but I hear that they pay little, well thats business, buy cheap and sell higher.Great place for older games and game systems!

Felt at ease in store

Stopped in cause my PS4 wasnt working properly.. the repair guy was very knowledgeable and very helpful. I left the console and picked it back up an hour later and now it works properly.. $25.00 !!! Compared to game stop staff telling me they cant help me and it would have to be sent out for repairs... The video game store is the real deal.. great staff and honest workers who wanna help you out. The place is nice, clean, and quiet. The clerk that is usually there is nice, knowledgeable, and helpful.A very large assortment of games for almost all platforms. Not too much in selections of platforms for sale themselves, but they have a decent turnover rate, so keep checking back.There is an incredibly large assortment of movies for crazy cheap. A whole wall from front to back and about 5 ft high. Mostly straight DVDs, but there is a decent selection of Blu-rays too.I recently purchased a PS3 a few weeks ago, along with a small assortment of games... One of the games didnt work, and when I brought it back and told him, there were no problems in exchanging it for its value.He gives a 30 day warranty on platforms, and so far mine has been working perfectly.I plan on doing business with The Video Game Store for as long as theyre there. Im happy there is a store like it in the downtown area, and its not the pawn shop.

Super friendly staff (the owner is very down to earth). Everyone is quite knowledgeable about what they do. Prices are fair. In fact, theyre cheaper than most other stores in the area. They have a good selection from a wide variety of systems, including some pretty obscure/hard to find systems (like 32x & Jaguar). I frequent this store regularly.

The Video Game Store has a lot of great games,consoles & movies as well as laptop & notebook computers. Occasionally they even have a hdtv to sell. The problem i had last time i was in there room to walk around and really be able to look at what they have was and unfortunately will continue to be an issue.

Had to look up their hours and realised I never left a review. I dont understand why anyone would rate this place less than 5 stars. Better used game store than anywhere else in the area. Ive been coming here for years and usually find something I want. Have a bit of everything but all I buy is PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS Vita stuff but they literally sell every console and a lot of games/accessories for it for cheaper than anyone else, even buying off of some crackhead on Craigslist is still about the same price. Never had something not work, beside a console that they swapped out for me no questions asked. I mean if you are some bum going in there wanting to get $50 for your game or $300 for your stained cigarette smell console maybe thats why youd 1 star this place. I dont know or like anyone here or anything but have been stopping in for the longest time, ive never had an issue. They will give you the same or probably more than what a chain game store like GameStop would for your stuff. Theyll obviously sell it for quite a bit more than what they gave you for it. Thats how a store works. Buy cheap, sell for more money. They arent some guy that wants whatever you are selling for themselves. They buy it to sell it to someone else so they can make money because they are a business. Maybe people have gotten scammed here, maybe they got something that was broken and the employees didnt take care of it but I honestly highly doubt it. Realise that when you see 1 star reviews for literally anything or anywhere its usually just someone that was mad about some unrealistic expectation they had. Plenty of wackjobs out there. Normal happy people dont typically 1 star anything unless its something/somewhere EVERYONE thinks is bad.

The shop it self is great. The staff is helpful and friendly. However, parking is a pain. Where ever you park you are paying for it. Best case scenario is to find a parking spot on the street and put a quarter in the meter. That is, if there is a spot open.

They also offer disc resurfacing, so if your favorite game gets scratched it may be savable for a few dollars instead of having to buy a new copy. You can also trade-in games here. Ive heard the trade-ins are better here than other places locally but I dont personally trade in games, also they are still trying to make money so dont expect half your money back on an old game if you trade it in. It really does depend on the game though, some are worth more than others. Lastly, being located by the square, the store brings in square people sometimes.. You know the kind I mean.

They gave me an offer for some games, I returned to the store a week later and was offered less than half of the original offer. The manager waited until I had gone out of my way to bring my games, then dropped the price when I arrived. VERY SHADY.

I play an older netendo ds and they always seem to have the games that I want. The prices are awesome, selling the games that I dont play with them makes it really convent and easy. This Video Game Store is a lot better than buying Games and Video Gaming Systems from Game Stop. The Video Game Store doesnt just sell video games and Systems, they also have a lot of DVDs movies, and a trade in for money or trade in for exact price range of what ever you are selling. Better than game stop. Thousands of films, better treated games and DVDs. The game consoles and games are super reliable, the most problems I have is maybe 1 movie every year. The gamestop in Taylor is bull and they rigged the games a while back. Ive been going here for a decade. The man at the counter is very kind and honest. This store is underrated because they will only return 25 cents for DVD sales. But selling anything else is worth it. It pays better than gamestop and have better respect for their items and their customers.

A small video game momnpop shop in the center of Wilkes Barre containing both software and hardware for a plethora of gaming systems dating back to the birth of video gaming (pre and post Atari 2600). Pricing is fair, Ive never had troubles with anything purchased here and the staff are pretty chill and helpful too. In addition to everything up to current game systems, they also sell DVDs and BluRays as well.

Ill take these guys over Gamestop in a heartbeat. That said, I wish they didnt move. at their previous location, I could walk from my house and be there in less than 10 minutes. Now, its a bit of a hassle to get myself here, but its still a pretty great store. they downgraded the ps2 selection a lot and a few others but thats okay. Still a lot of great retro, early 2000s stuff to choose from and reasonable prices. Not perfect, but Ill take them over Gamestop any day.

Very good place to get old systems and plenty of old systems games. Not very big but they fit a lot in there. They also have new games and sytstems. Handhelds also along with a comuptor repair and used flat tvs.

These guys only want your money. I got a transfer cable for 10$ on Tuesday and the guy didnt give me a receipt. It turns out I didnt need the transfer cable and I never used it so I wanted to return it. They would not let me return it. Instead they offered to buy it back for 4$. That is complete BS! Then I asked if they would trade me for a chat wire for my turtle beach. They said we dont carry turtle beach they break a the time. They obviously have no idea what they are talking about turtle beach makes quality headsets.
