Once we got into the massage room I was so impressed with the decor and atmosphere! It was so clean and calming. Laura is so personable and loved her energy! The day after my skin looked amazing. Love this place. Very friendly people, willing to tell you what would look good on you or not but still base on the hair style you want. They did an absolutely amazing job on my hair. I have gone to a lot of places and every time they either can’t get my hair right or kill my hair to the point of no return. I drove an hour here and I’m still willing to drive that for this place.

I had my first facial since 2015 at Vida Hait & Skin with Laura. The salon and spa are beautiful. Tea and cookies served during consultation which was very informative! Laura made me feel so comfortable. Came out glowing. All products are organic vegan and cruelty free. Could we get any better than that?No chemicals. Will def be returning!!

My highlights came out very nice. I also receive Keratin treatment which I liked, but for the first month and a half would get greasy in a day or two. I returned with my mom and she was charged like $60 for shoulder length blowout, for fine hair and a trim of ends.. I wanted to give them another chance because they were nice, When my husband went his hair was chopped. It was the WORST mens brook I have seen. Knowing she did a horrible job; she should not have charged and offered to fix it once it grew. I will never return. Mark did a good job with my bangs

From the moment I called Vida Salon, Laura could not have been nicer. And then when I entered, I was immediately treated like royalty. The salon is spotless and the mother-daughter co-owner team (Laura and Mercy) could not have been kinder or more accommodating. Mercy did a great job blowing out and styling my hair, delivering the up-scale yet natural look I had asked for. Additionally, Mercy was fast but did not make me feel rushed—a rare combination. Next I saw her daughter Laura for my makeup. Laura mixed a custom foundation blend for me to perfectly enhance my skin tone. Then she did a beautiful smoky eye that was still subtle enough that I could rock it on a week night, per my request. And then for a final touch, Laura created a custom lipstick color for me that perfectly accentuated my lips while balancing out the eye look she had created. When I walked out, I felt beautiful. I will definitely return to this women-owned, family-run, chic, boutique salon in West Orange!

I came in with black box hair and a failed attempt of my own to color remove it, it was still black on the bottom and super dark. I went there for the first time and OMG amazing. Everyone was great, very helpful and listened to exactly what my goal was and achieved it surprisingly, I didn’t think I could get my hair this light and still healthy in one session. I will most defiantly be going back and I’m so happy I went to them!

Being new to the neighborhood, I saw the reviews for Vida and thought I couldnt go wrong for a simple haircut and blow out. Overall, I wasnt too happy with my experience (the music was loud and it was hard to hear, there was confusion among the staff as to what service I was coming in for, my stylist kept disappearing in the middle of my haircut/blowout, it was more expensive than I thought it was going to be), but I thought it would be ok as long as I got a good cut from it. It has been about 2 weeks since my cut, and now I notice chunks of my hair which are cut much shorter than the rest and stick out like a sore thumb. It is very disappointing, because these areas will take a long time to grow out and there isnt much to do to hide it. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Vida.

I waited to review the Salon as I received a Keratin treatment, and sometimes after showering the frizz returns. However I can now confidently say that this was the best Keratin job I have ever had done on my hair. Bravo!

I’m someone who sometimes struggles to feel comfortable at salons - not the case at all here!! Mark was so fun, welcoming, professional, insanely knowledgeable, and explained everything to me as we went along. I got my highlights toned and a keratin treatment. Mark and Laura were so dedicated to getting the color I asked for, and very open to any input I had. The keratin treatment, I cannot recommend enough. And the specific formula they use did not make my hair feel gritty like others I’ve tried, while leaving it in prior to the first wash. They said they’re a family and that they treat everyone who comes in like family, and it shows. On another important note, the place is spotless. They are requiring masks, hand cleansing and temperature checking upon arrival, plus really clever hanging plastic barriers between the client seats. They are kind, fun, clean, honest. You will have a great time. :)

As I was checking out, I asked her about what I can do to help make my blonder and add more balayage highlights and she was sweet enough to have her mom come talk to me and speak about what we could do to help achieve my desired hair color...I made an appointment to come back now for my hair and a follow up for my facial. It’s sure is clean, comfortable etc. BUT the prices are unacceptable!$100- hair dye ONLY (short hair)$30- hair trimmed$40- BLOW DRY?!?? Separate?!?!?I always used to pay $130 when she opened up. And just recently was there and she is now charging $40 more for just a blow dry?!? I had to confirm the prices with my hair stylist before I went to Vida Hair Salon and they even stated blow drying is always included with the hair dyed which they charge $95.00Next time you guys go here, confirm the prices before you complete the services. And make sure you keep the receipt!!!

I’m very happy with the Brazilian 24k gold hair treatment I got a few weeks ago. I waited to write the review after I had a chance to see how the results last. I absolutely Love Love Love it! I have thick long brown hair that’s wavy/curly with a lot of frizz if I let it air dry. This treatment left my hair smooth, straight with some body and so very easy to maintain. No more frizzy hair on rainy days. I save a lot of time getting ready. I was also happy with my experience at the salon. The owner and staff are extremely pleasant and professional. Worth every penny! I highly recommended them. I will definitely be back for the hair Botox and facial when I get the chance.

I didnt feel like going to my usual salon in NYC so after reading great reviews about Vida and Mark David I decided to give it a try. Well, lets just say Mark David just became my new colorist! He is an expert in his field and my hair never looked and felt better. I felt very comfortable in the salon as all health protocols were being followed; hand sanitizer, temp check, partitions between station, disposable plastic robes. Wow! Just wow! I am so satisfied with my experience at Vida Hair. I woke up one morning noticed my hair felt dried out and damaged from constantly washing my hair. Until I did some research and ran into the keratin treatment that this business offered. I called and made an appointment on the same day. Laura was super patient with me on the phone answering all my questions and giving me a good understanding of what to expect. When I arrived both Laura and Mercy took great care of me. Being that I wear a hijab, they were able to provide me with a private room which was a big plus for me. I have a North African hair type which is really hard to maintain at times. Laura and Mercy recommended getting a gel keratin to treat the damaged parts of the hair, but also allowing me to still keep my North African curls after I wash it. I was so thrilled with the results. I instantly gained my confidence back when I seen how great my hair came out. I definitely recommend getting this done with their trusted product if you have thick dry hair to bring your curls back to life or to just hydrate your hair in general. I really wish I new about this before cause l could of treated my hair a long time ago. But it’s better and healthy now and I couldn’t of been any happier. Thank you Laura and Mercy for the amazing hospitality. Laura educated me on everything I need to know about hair along with tips on how to take care of my hair afterwards. Such a wonderful experience having my hair cut/styled by Mark. He completely saved me after a (covid) hair cut at home (never again I swear!)! Not only is the cut beautiful, but the price was entirely reasonable. The salon was spotless and I felt very safe with the extra precautions they are taking, starting with hand sanitizer/temp checks when you arrive, unobtrusive plexiglass shields between each chair, stylists that are masked, and sterilized seats/tools. Laura was so informative on how to protect my face as well as my neck and as she said “people sometimes forget to protect the neck, that’s skin too and needs protection!”, which type of hydrating face cream to use and not to use on my face, what parts of my face are the oiliest and what parts are not, what parts of my face need more collagen, and how to apply cream on my face as she said “always apply against gravity.” As my skin ages slowly every day, I definitely trust Laura @vida.hair.skin to help me take good care of my face’s skin and hopefully by old age my face will look as good as I take care of it every day. What a treat to the senses, from the moment you walk in. The salon decor is so clean, modern, warm and candles made it smell so inviting. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. I got a cut, color and highlights from Mark. Wow!! What a talented and knowledgeable stylist/colorist. He took his time to talk me through color selections. He explains so much to you as he’s working on your hair. Never felt rushed. We talked and laughed the whole time. While I was getting my hair done, I got my eyebrows done by the shop owner, Mercy. She was so sweet and accommodating. My hair looks amazing!!! Just what I was hoping for and then some. Wrapping up my hair day, I spoke to Laura about facials for my teens. Everyone in the salon is so friendly, warm and helpful. Amazing addition to Main St in West Orange. Wishing the salon, many years of success.

I NEVER write reviews, but I was so overwhelmed by the great work done that I just had to. I had a horrible experience with coloring my hair at a different salon which resulted in me going back TWICE to fix my color and I still got a horrible job done. I initially came here at Vida to get a hair Botox treatment to repair the damages done by the previous salon. But I wanted this horrible color out of my hair so bad I decided to ask my stylist (Mercy) if she can do a little of color correcting in addition to my treatment. My end result blew my mind it was more than what I expected!! My hair went from a dull bronde color to a vibrate blonde !!! I was obsessed and SHOCKED! I couldn’t believe it came out that good due to bad experiences with color in my past but she was so good you can tell hair styling/coloring is second nature to her just by her technique. The whole ambiance of the salon is very welcoming and super friendly. You guys have to check this place out .

Absolutely amazing job done by Laura AND Mark! I purchased the 24hr Brazilian Keratin treatment, with cut and could not be happier! Laura fit me in on the SAME day I purchased my Groupon....could not have been more accommodating (AND she is the OWNER!!! - GO WOMEN OWNED BUSINESSES! And the decor is SUPER CUTE AND VERY CLEAN following all COVID measures to a T!) She helped wash me out, and get my hair dry so Mark could do his magic! Will DEFINITELY BE BACK....and highly recommended!
