This is a great school. Hey, why do an alarming rate of animals pass from cardiovascular diseases? I pondered that today as I shook my food from a can and noticed it sounded like an animal panting. Have I been mistaking that panting as a sign of thirst and not hunger? I mean, renal failure and alcoholic kidney signs look scarily familiar.

My 10 year old Cardigan Corgi Sweetie was referred by my local vet here because of such a slow heart rate that soon she would have died. She had already passed out 3 times. She was seen immediately by a Cardiologist and a pacemaker was implanted in her neck down into her heart. Since we live 4hrs away, we received at least 3 phone calls a day updating us on her condition. We were able to bring her home the next day and she’s doing really well. The Drs. we’re so good at explaining everything and very professional. I definitely recommend this place. It was very heartwarming that our baby was cared for so well.

As a Purdue Alumni I am extremely disappointed and disgusted on how Purdue’s pet clinic is so heartless with animals! For a place to LEARN u sure want to make sure you price gouge.......a blood panel and X-ray will cost 700 dollars and you clinic won’t even take payments it’s all due upfront or your pet will be sent home. Your supposed to go into this field with compassion and love for animals but instead is all about the almighty dollar! Your supposed to prevent pets from dying instead you’ll heartlessly send a pet home to die that more than likely could be prevented! Most doctors take oaths to save lives of humans or animals not here you guys send pets home to die! Shame on you and remember karma makes her way around!!! 😡😡

Had to take my cat there for emergency treatment that our normal emergency center couldnt take care of. From the moment we arrived my wife and I were impressed with the level of care given to our sick boy. They treated him immediately and got him the care he needed. Although they had to deliver bad news (terminal cancer) they did so with the upmost tact and respect possible. I was highly impressed by the student doctors we worked with while my cat was there. Ive dealt with many different types of veterinarians in the years Ive had my cat and I can say that these two student doctors will make great vets. I cant compliment them without also recognizing the internist we had. She did an exceptional job and was even willing to stay late one day in order to accommodate a visit. She kept my wife and I up to date with all the latest information and was able to explain his condition to us in a manner we understood. This facility is an hour away from my home but I can say that if Im in need of emergency pet care I will make every effort to return.

I have been here 3 times. Two out of those three times I ended up wasting my whole day here waiting for different specialists to check our dog. The first of these two visits ended up totaling 7 hours in the waiting room ( I am not exaggerating). We were told this was due to being late and all of the other specialists having their appointments booked. Understandable; however, we ended up getting a diagnosis and were told to come back in three weeks to drop off our dog for surgery. Well its week three and here I am in the waiting room just about to go on hour 5. We get here and after initial inspection they say that he may not need the surgery and he needs to be looked at by all the specialists to confirm. Funny because this is what the last 7 hour appointment was for and it ended in us getting topical ointment to treat our dogs skin rash in prep for the surgery. This is the problem when you see a different doctor every visit.. I find this to be a huge mistake if your doctor determines you definitely need surgery and then changes their mind next visit. This would not be so bad if we lived down the street but we are traveling 160 miles to get here. The only good thing I can say about this place is that they are all very nice and well mannered people but they need to get their scheduling and charts together.

I sadly had to have our dog put down after hours on a Sunday. The staff there were very sweet and understanding treating my dog like a friend. The price was more than fair. I would have no problem using them again if I needed to. They made a heartbreaking time as easy as they could and they all deserve the best for it.

All they care about is cash, not one thing about caring for animals. For a teaching facility just to walk in the door is 500. Why? Expect any visit for any reason to be thousands. No cash your pet will die and they dont care.

This place is expensive than most local vet stores. But they have reliable animal care service. If it is emergency or major surgery, i would recommend it.

Very upset with this place! My husband and I brought our 3 month old German Shepherd puppy here to get an X-ray of one of her legs because she was limping. Turned out that she had fractured her leg from jumping off the back of the couch. They told us that she would need surgery within the next day or two and that it would cost $2,500! With that being said, our immediately thought was, we don’t have that kind of money. So, I sold my car today. I sold my car to make sure that we had the money to get the surgery that she needed. It took 3 days to get the money together, just 3 days. My husband brought her in to see about getting the surgery there since I sold my car. Now they are saying the surgery may not be needed since it is ‘starting to heal’. They are also quoting us on twice the cost as we were originally given! It’s a little odd to me that now that we have the money, they aren’t going to get her the surgery that she needs. She has an appointment there for next week, 5 days from now, to see how it has ‘healed’. For being a ‘teaching hospital’, this place sure charges more than they should! When we brought her in 3 days ago, it cost us $387 to get an X-ray of her leg. My dogs mean the world to me and I would do anything for them, seeing how I sold my car to get the money for the surgery, that they may not even do!

I was pleased with the level of care, the only complaint I have is that they did not treat my dogs SEVERE pain for the whole hour and a half we were there. They waited and just gave us paid meds to take home. Other than that they did a great job.

This place has no compassion! We found a kitten on the road in need, and before they could care for her the wanted payment or for us to release her. It was all about money with them just to stabilize her was between 400-700and that was on top of the 110$ diagnostics exam. And that didnt even include her medicine, hospital stay, and anything else. We wanted the kitten in our forever home, but literally just found her and didnt have 3000$ for her vet bills. They just dont care about doing the right thing, they only care about money. This is just our experience with them. Im sure some have had awesome ones with them. They made us feel guilty that we couldnt keep and pay for her hospital visit. Our son was devastated! We called this morning to see if she had made it, but they wouldnt even tell us that because we gave her to the shelter. Its not like Im asking for personal information just if the kitten made it or if our effort to save her was to late. I will never come here again. Nor will I send anyone!

I took my dog in late at night for an eye issue. The student that did Dukes initial check was very friendly and professional. He and the doctor came in to let me know what was wrong with Duke and to let me know they wanted to check out his eye a little closer. One of the tests would cost an additional $30 and they checked with me before performing it. The next morning I received a follow up call to see how Duke was doing and to see if I had any questions. When I went in I was worried because I had heard they were pricey. My total bill including the eye drops was cheaper than Dukes last appointment at a local vet when he had an ear infection.I love my primary vet, but I wont hesitate to use Purdue again for after hours or weekend emergencies! On a side note googling dog ailments is about as effective as WebMD - Duke only had conjunctivitis, but the internet convinced me hed be blind by morning.

Im not sure what to expect, we havent been there yet but weve got an appt on the 18th of this month, our lab mix was just diagnosed with cancer and they are willing to help him but they wanted to know about payment immediately? Weve been told that the 1st appt will be $1800 to $2000 and were on an extremely tight fixed income but Im not going to just let my dog die! Im hopeful that once were there things will be a little more compassionate? We shall see?

We are not really vet-people because they tend to be very, very costly and we are on a very fixed income. We LOVE our animals and do the absolute best we can for them and have been very fortunate that none of them have ever really had any problems. Until our 10-year old Coonhound Mix hurt himself and I was very concerned about him. When I got home from work, around 5:30 pm, I called another vets office to try and get him in that evening, and was told that they closed at 6:00 and the vet wasnt taking any new patients. They suggested that I take him to Purdue Vetrinarian Emergency Room. I was quite worried about the cost, since it is an emergency room, but I more concerned about my dogs pain. The vetrinarian was very understanding, and very helpful. She did not try to push costly, unnecessary tests on us, she simply treated the problem we were there for. She informed me that there were other, more detailed examinations she could perform (x-rays, blood tests, ect.) but that would not change her recommendation. In the end we got the assistance and care we needed all for about $120.00.I am so grateful that there is somewhere I now know that I can take my pets and not feel pressured to spend a ton of money for good quality care.

Kozmo, boston terrier lost an eye in a fight with another dog, both ok now. You want a good vet go here to purdue sure it cost more but care and treatment is outstanding. You love your pet like family then money should not be a problem. Kozmo 13 years old and still going strong would highly recommend Purdue as kozmo would say arf arf.
