The customer service is second to none. I felt very welcomed (most places seem to absolutely get working on my old Saab). Ryan and Stephen were a pleasure. Stephen calls very consistently to update you and their courtesy check was a great addition. Definitely recommend.
Dougherty Automotive is excellent! They work on my Porsche Cayman, and do a fantastic job. Reasonably priced, excellent service. I highly recommend them.
Great service and customer service. Will absolutely use again for my Mercedes. No more dealerships for me!
Scott the service manager was great, made sure I was informed through the entire process. Took it in for inspection and some other minor work, they found one thing I did not know about and fixed that as well. They also came in under the quoted price (that is always nice). My car has a new doctor for life.
After relocating in Chester County, I needed a shop to take all our household vehicles. Internet reviews and Facebook info helped me to narrow it down to Dougherty, then I met the staff, great people and outstanding customer service. The Porsche was already serviced and we will continue bringing the rest of the toys when the service time comes. So if you are looking for a single shop to service all your European vehicles, this is the place.
I bring my Porsche Cayman in to Dougherty Automotive and they do a fantastic job! They are courteous, professional, and very reasonable as far as cost, with great service. I highly recommend!
Always a pleasure to work with them. They make sure you are happy either work that has been done. Great staff and mechanics.
Doughertys helped to install M3 seats in my BMW E46. I had an issue where the motor was no longer allowing the seat to move forward or backward in order to access the bolts needed to remove the seats. They were able to find a unique solution by disassembling my seat (with updates for approval along the way) and had my new seats installed in no time. Thank you DAS! Will certainly return for future DIY pitfalls that need a professionals help, as well as for regular maintenance.
Professional and knowledgeable as always. The guys at Dougherty serviced my car and performed the state inspection. As they performed routine work, They advised of a condition that could be proactively tackled, explained the details to me and gave me the cost. The car was ready, as promised the following day. I’ve been bringing my car here for the last couple of years and will continue to do so.
Years of excellent care for Mercedes, Porsche, Volvo
I was happy with the results of my cars visit to Dougherty. As much as anything I appreciate that very few calls go to the phone tree. Steve almost always answers and is more than willing to devote himself to the caller and clearly answer questions without the least indication of impatience. This is a nice contrast to the big dealerships where it is hard to get to know the people who are working on your car.
Very thorough and detailed analysis of my 2011 Saab. Couldn’t initially identify problem with cooling system, but they stuck with it and figured out root cause. Loaner car was really helpful. I was in area visiting family, so I was in a real pinch. 100 percent satisfied
After having my vehicle looked at by an AUDI dealership, I did some additional research into what the issue could be with my vehicle. From the very first conversation I had with Ryan, there was no pressure to bring my vehicle in but he was more than helpful in answering my questions and offering a diagnosis. With each call made until I decided to bring my vehicle in for service, every person I spoke with was equally as helpful. Stephen continued to assist me through the process from making the appointment, dropping my car off, receiving a loaner vehicle, returning/pickup of my vehicle, explanation of the work done, payment...every part of this s revive, transaction was very well handled and managed. If not for these two gentlemen and their professionalism...I don’t know what I would or could have done in having my AUDI repaired. Moving forward, my vehicle will be serviced by Dougherty.
Needed just some standard yearly maintenance. Excellent service, solid pricing. Everyone was quick and knowledgeable, and my car was back in my hands within a few hours. Great guys, certainly gained a customer
Dougherty is the only mechanic that I trust with my air-cooled 911. Prompt, courteous, professional, knowledgeable. I choose Dougherty, because I know that my car will fetch maximum resale value, maybe even more than if I had it serviced at a dealership. Dealerships deal in new cars and a rare few of them have the experience and pedigree of the team at Dougherty Automotive. Thanks.
I’ve used Dougherty’s and sent clients to them for years and sadly this will come to an end. Owner passed away and let’s just say egos got big in the garage and in the office. My client wasn’t really enthused with getting in his car which smelled like body odor and the problem wasn’t fixed but yet had a pretty big bill. Now he had to pay to have his car detailed in the inside and another bill at what will possibly be our new garage! Thanks for the many years of great service but it’s time to move on!
Been taking my vehicles to Dougherty Automotive for over 30 years. Would not consider going to any other auto service. Their service is of the highest quality and is delivered without surprise add ons. The staff is very personable and will take whatever time is required to clearly explain what service is necessary for your vehicle.
I have been taking my cars to Dougherty Automotive for years. I have always been pleased with the service, the quality of work, and I really like working with Ryan, and Steve. I trust them. I wouldnt go anywhere else.......Rick
Great customer service and trustworthy. I know that the analysis will be the right one and what is needed to solve the issue. Not the cheapest but Ive found Doughertys to be both reliable, timely and very effective, so overall great value.
Purchased a vehicle sight unseen from the area and was able to work with Ryan and his team to get all of the necessary maintenance completed. I was reassured with the communication from them and would HIGHLY recommend this shop.
So happy with the service and extra mile they went making my old 924s road worthy. The great advice and willingness to work with me on some significant issues when I was out of the area made it crystal clear that these are good people. If I could give them a sixth star I would have ! Thanks again !
Porsche performance shop, top notch mechanics, quality work, thorough knowledge, WINNERS edge .
Excellent knowledge about how to set up my car based on my needs and experience on track.
Dougherty did a great job servicing my vehicle. They were timely and communicated in detail what was needed.
Dougherty Automotive did an excellent job on servicing my car. I had several electrical issues with the car and they were able to trouble shoot it very quickly. I originally had my car at another VW service location and they were not able to fix the electrical problems that I was having. Going forward I will be using Doughert to service my car.Thank for your work! - Jimmy
Are you kidding me.I love it thereVIR/ weekend Dougherty Support Tream..First time at VIR full course 2min. Flat.
Fair prices, excellent service, awesome advice.
Honest, skillful service with wonderful staff.
Took my 2016 Golf R in for a 40,000 mile service and it felt like a new car after. They did a great job and got my car back to me same day.
New to the area. Found them online. Had good ratings. I was very happy with the service. They were very accommodating and pleasant. I will definitely take my car there again! Car is running like a champ again :-)
Dougherty did a great job on my 48,000 mile 2003 SL500. I am the original owner and when the baffle in the gas tank came loose, i was facing a $4,000 gas tank replacement. Dougherty offered an alternative repair for $700 which meets the needs. The car needed a number of other repairs which they were able to perform in one day at a substantial savings over the dealer cost.
I have a c LS 500 and a SL500 Mercedes Benz these guys came highly recommended I took both my cars in them are they fix them with ease and thats when you know you have a good mechanic highly recommend these guys
As an engineering contractor, I work in many different states. My 2005 545i is an exciting fun car, but also a maintenance problem child, and daily driver, so its important to have good maintenance services to keep it on the road. The combination of honest diagnosis, good mechanics, and a solid warranty on the work, makes Dougherty Automotive a real gem to find working away from home.
They have done a masterful job of keeping my cars in top condition. Would not trust my 911 to anyone else
I am not sure if the ratings above took, so just to be sure - I rate you guys a strong 5 stars and would definitely recommend to everyone. You did a PPI for me and it was more thorough than what I had done at a Porsche dealer recently. The report was candid and practical then you did the repairs which were excellent at a fair price. In addition, all along the communication with both Ryan and Bill was great. Wish you were in my area so I could be a continuing customer. Thanks for everything.
Dougherty Automotive is very helpful in time of need. Always very obliging.
Always a great experience having our vehicles serviced at Dougherty
My experience with Dougherty’s goes back to 1984. They are always honest, dependable, informative and friendly. My family has had a variety of cars serviced there using loaner cars while the vehicle was being serviced. The most recent work they did was on my college age grandson’s 1985 Porsche 944 saving him thousands of dollars. He left Dougherty’s a very happy young man and another very satisfied customer!
Great place, was the first time bringing my MK7 GTI to a shop other than the dealer and couldn’t have been more pleased. The technician walked me through what was done to my vehicle and even showed me around the shop, they work on some incredible vehicles so I was more than confident that my GTI would be in good hands. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality local shop.
These guys are amazing. I have a Volkswagen Eos (Hardtop Convertible) and the roof wasnt going down all the way / properly. I took it to the Volkswagen dealership who said the entire roof mechanism would need to be replaced which runs $7000 just for the part. I took it to Dougherty for a second look and they were able to disassemble the roof which has over 400 parts, find the broken piece and replace it. The roof is working phenomenally once again and given the complexity of the work that was done the price was more than fair. Will be the only auto shop I go to as long as Im in the Philadelphia area. Simply the best.
I drive a 25 yr old Volvo wagon that I was afraid was on its last miles. Ryan walked me through all that was wrong with the car in great detail. Jim got to work and brought the old girl not just back to life but running better than when I purchased the car 15 years ago. The total price came in under their estimate and Im back on the road with a smile on my face. Thanks guys, great work.
I sincerely appreciate the quality of work that was done on my 911. After replacing the IMS bearing, I can now drive it the way it is supposed to be driven, without worrying. And with your assistance with the performance intake and exhaust, it performs great. I believe you took care of it as if it was one of your own.Thank you Bill, Ryan, and your Tech Team.
Great auto shop, had an excellent experience. They stayed open late to service my car and then immediately fixed it. Great value too.
Took my hurting VW here for a diagnosis. Very happy with the way I was treated. Professional staff especially Steve. Didnt go ahead with most of the extensive repairs because the cost of them was more than the car was worth. Would definitely recommend them to friends.
The folks at Dougherty are the best. Ryan and Bill always take the time to talk with me. Sometimes I feel I may be taking too much of their time, but they will answer any and all questions I have with regards to my Porsche. Thank you.
Ive trusted Dougherty Automotive to service my Porsches and other track vehicles for 12 years. Their facilities are top of the line and their work reflects it as well. Ive always known them to be fair and knowledgeable.
Great shop. Amazing service.
HONEST and QUALITY work. They treat you like family and always take care of you.
Best place for high quality shop!
A few months back I purchased my first Porsche, a 90s/964 era 911 Carrera 2. It had been extensively restored with rebuilt and modified engine. It was running a little rough and I could smell a strong fuel odor in the cabin when Id start it up. Id been looking to find a Porsche specialist shop and chose to check out Dougherty (a 1+ hour drive from my home in Hershey) partly because itd be at least an overnight visit and they offer some courtesy cars.I was called the day before arrival and told my courtesy car was delayed in its return from being out with another customer, and also asked if I wanted to reschedule my appointment. I chose to get my own ride home as the Porsche is not my daily driver. The 911 was there for a few days, and I started to wonder why it was taking so long. The answer was that they were very thorough and kept parking it overnight to check and re-check for the fuel smell. I called every day and they signaled that they could hurry to have it done, but I let it go partly because I needed to wait for a convenient day to return in that I needed a ride.In the end, the car is running better than the day I bought it and better i.e. more smoothly than it has in the time that I have owned it. They realized it had a lightened flywheel when rebuilt, and that this wasnt programmed in, so they took care of that. They pressure tested the fuel system in order to assure it wasnt leaking, replaced some leaking ignition coils and gave me a highly detailed list of things to watch for in the future, like a lazy oxygen sensor that is currently working but described what to watch for if it starts to go bad, an assessment of one of the few cheap components installed by the previous owner, notice the the oil cooler is seeping oil a bit but certainly passable for now, and that one of the cylinder banks is also starting to seep. They told me the engine feels really strong for a 964 in their experience, and looked over the previous owners spec list for the engine and gave their assessment of that as well. This was exactly the sort of detailed experienced assessment I was looking for after buying such a unique car, especially given I had no previous experience with air-cooled 911s. I highly recommend them. They werent the cheapest independent option, but the premium was definitely worth it for the experience and my assessment now is much more thorough than what I was told by a Porsche dealer who I also had do an initial once over of the car (not a PPI).
I always get great service, my car is always ready when promised and its a pleasure dealing with Bill, Ryan and the entire Dougherty Automotive organization
You guys are the best :)
Inflated prices, sub standard work and unethical as it relates to honoring a so called warranty. Will never go back.
My review is called two out of two jobs failed. In May 2013 we took our BMW Z4 to Doughertys Automotive for two jobs - mount four new tires and fix the automatic convertible top which would not go up or down. They completed the repairs, and we brought the car home. My husband was especially concerned about not scratching the rims when mounting the new tires and that was why we decided to take it to a specialty shop rather than one of the big chains where we take our other cars. He questioned in great detail with Ryan how this would be done, and Ryan stated they had a special machine for this that the big chain retailers do not have. Anyways, my husband actually checked the wheels when we got home and was shocked to not only see scratches but deep gouges in the wheels. So while caught red-handed, they did correct this issue by having the rims resurfaced. The second job completed at the same time was the convertible top. We were informed that the motor/pump was rusted and corroded from water leaking in. We had the pump replaced and discussed, in depth, about protecting the motor from a reoccurrence. The invoice even stated Apply Sealant to Motor Housing to Protect From Future Water Damage. I personally discussed my concern with Ryan regarding a reoccurrence, and he did lead me to believe they were correcting the problem and preventing it from happening again. We paid the $1275.44 for that repair, and thought the problem was solved. Sometime during the summer of 2015 (two seasons later), we experienced the same problem. Due to timing issues, we were not able to get the car back in the shop until the Fall of 2015. We took it back to Doughertys only to be told it was the same issue and that their work is only guaranteed for one year ( genuine bmw parts are actually warranted for TWO YEARS, unlimited mileage) Yes, the motor was again rusted and corroded from water - the very thing they said they would protect the new motor from. Why didnt they tell us it was only a temporary fix when we first brought the car there? If we had been informed correctly, of course we would not have wasted $1200+. They took our money and led us to believe the problem was solved. They even charged us $133.56 to look at it (yet their site advertises free estimates), and tell us the work they did previously failed. Of course we brought the car home. Why would we pay them to fix something they couldnt fix right the first time. Two jobs - both shoddy workmanship. Yes they corrected the first job only because we did catch it immediately because it was something we could physically see. We cannot see the motor and could only assume they corrected the issue by properly protecting the motor.Obviously they are not experts in foreign car repair, or they just did sloppy work on my repairs
I was happy to find these guys, Ryan really took care of me and I will continue to useDougherty Automotive.Saab 9-3
Great, friendly service!
