I cannot recommend SolidState enough! I brought in my Samsung TV which was not turning on (I tried all the resets, etc. with no luck). I got a call that same night saying he had found what was wrong (power supply) and could have it repaired that night if I wanted. I told him I could wait until next business day. He said he had a half dozen TVs come in after mine, so he stayed late to get a jump on them. I picked it up and its working perfectly! I had previously brought in a vintage stereo and turntable and they cleaned it up/checked it out and created a new cord to plug my turntable in, since the original had been cut. I wasnt in a rush for that, but was just as happy with the end product! Great to be have such a great shop in our area!!

After calling some other TV repair shops in the area, I called Solidstate. Tom was on a service call, but returned my voicemail within a couple hours. To say I was impressed by his knowledge and level of service would be an understatement. Not only did he give me a good estimate on the cost for the repair (a lot, unfortunately), but he also spent about 15 minutes with me explaining what most likely is going on and why. He even gave me tips and suggestions on how I could ask the TV manufacturer to potentially cover the cost because my problem was a common issue. In the end, he even gave me the frank (and honest) advice that if the manufacturer wont pay for the repairs... it might be a better financial move to simply buy a new TV rather than have him fix it. Talk about honesty! We need more companies and service people like this out there; ones that do whats best for the client, not just what is best for their profit margin.I will most certainly be using Solidstate for my repairs in the future. Even though my experience (thus far) has only been on the customer service side... the fact that he went out of his way to do the right thing with his time and honest advice goes a long way in my book.

Please consider having your tv fixed before buying a new one - these guys do great work and provide a fantastic experience end to end. And if you do need to ditch the old model because its cost prohibitive to fix, theyll properly recycle it for you. Cant recommend them enough.

I dont have enough words to describe how pleased I am with their services. You exceeded my expectations in every way. Fred is a gentleman, very courteous, always smiling, and the most important thing... truly honest and transparent, which is hard to find on these days. I can absolutely recommend Fred and this store for anyone how is looking to repair a TV. He will tell you if is repairable, or if its worth to repair. Thank you one more time Fred for your amazing service and hospitality when I was there. Youre a great person and professional. I wish for you all the best!Miguel Jauregui

Spent 30 minutes talking to Mitsubishi Customer Service trying to find out why my lamp indicator light was flashing even after twice replacing the failed lamp. They said I needed service tech to look at it. They recommended someone but they were too far from home. Look on the web and saw Solidstate TV Repair Service with great reviews. Called and spoke with Tom (great guy). In five minutes he gave me the answer over the phone and its working. Toms advice to all: Buy the extended warranty on any new TV as they are only lasting a few years now and then you throw them away as its too much to fix. But if you have the warranty, then he fixes for free (assuming warranty states such I suppose). Highly recommend Tom!!

Called multiple times and even visited the store and was promised that the technician would be contacting me but nothing. Im not sure they really want business at all. I went elsewhere and was very happy with the other place.

Brought my Panasonic power board in to Solid State TV to have 2 IC chips and 2 Caps changed out, which I supplied. Dropped the parts off and after that received excuse after excuse as to why my board wasnt fixed yet. It has now been a month and a half, and for the last 2 weeks Solid State wont even return my phone calls. Dont think I will ever get my parts back at this point. DONT do business here unless you want to get ripped off.

My 52 Samsung LCD TV had fluctuating vertical bands of noise. I tried getting it fixed free by Samsung, but I was out of warranty and, hence, out of luck. Samsung led me to believe the problem was most likely in the panel, which costs more than the cost of a similar new TV and is not cost effective to replace. Even if it was not the panel they said, it would cost something like $100 to have someone show up at my door to take a look at it before adding parts and labor to the overall repair cost.I tried opening my TV and reseating the ribbons and looking for obvious damage but had no luck with that and was about to junk the TV.As a last resort, I searched Google maps and found that there was only one highly rated repair place in the Milwaukee area and tried to contact them. I initially had a very hard time getting in touch, but I think that it was because I was calling their old location. Once I figured out that their location on 7117 W Greenfield Ave was the current one, I had no trouble contacting them.Tom is usually out of the shop on call and his assistant manages the shop. Both seemed quite experienced and straightforward. I also got the impression after visiting their shop that they were in the repair business for a few decades and were very serious about it. Compare this with Best Buy, where they hire college kids with attitudes and no knowledge and have their service subcontracted. They diagnosed the problem with the TV as being either the TCON board or the panel. The panel would cost more than a new TV but the TCON was around $130. Tom was so confident that it was the TCON board that he agreed to eat the restocking cost of the TCON board if it turned out to be the panel. Luckily, it was the TCON board. My TV has been home for over a week and has been working flawlessly. Im so glad this worked out and I was able to effectively get a 52 TV for less than $200, while keeping a TV out of a landfill.I would also like to recommend that you give places like this your business as they, in my opinion, are the few remaining independently owned local repair shops in the area.Update : a couple of years later and the tv still works like new. Im so happy to have found this place!

Great service, fixed my 32 inch lcd sony tv as promised. Had a burned out IR sensor. Also explained to look for japan made units instead of china made units even when buying brands you think are solid like sony. He also helped my friend fix a sound problem over the phone for free. 5 stars
