Love this gym been going for a few months. My trainer Prince is amazing! If you can foot the bill, the facilities are well maintained and the staff are on top of it. Every visit Ive had is comfortable and smooth sailing. The one thing is if you are fat like me bring your own towel if you indeed to swim or shower. Their towels are tiny or ask for two shower towels when you check in!
Excellent facility, plenty of options for strength training. An abundance cardiovascular training equipment.Nice aquatic facility.Friendly staff and members.
I have been a member for several years of my brief stay in Milwaukee. Upon my transition out of state, I sadly had to end my membership. This is a great health club. The staff (Wauwatosa) were so welcoming, friendly, and informative. The health club is well maintained and clean. Overall a great experience!!!!!
Its not a huge building but has everything youd need and more! Lots of cardio machines and enough free weights and squat racks to never have to wait for one. Havent used the classes or pool yet but they also look nice. One star docked for the small space, you do have to walk around machines/people quite often to get to where you need to go.
A great size space, very clean. Friendly people. My exercise here has been a huge help to lower my blood glucose. And my reward: 20 minutes in the whirlpool relaxing after a solid workout.
Good, clean facility. Has all the donations I lol for in a club: free weights, steam room, hot tub.
Clean. Friendly. Great club. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the $10/mo commercial franchises. Its worth the money.
Great gym. Super clean, nice equipment, awesome classes. So glad I joined!
I’ve been a member for three years, but have been very frustrated recently with this location. There are a number of cardio machines that have had faulty TVs and/or audio for as long as I’ve been a member. Whenever I bring it up to a team member, they cut me off and start apologizing at 100 words a minute, saying they’ll get on it right away. And then nothing changes. Also, machines that actually do work are removed. When I asked Logan the manager what happened to the two upright stair steppers, he actually lied to me, saying they were moved to another club location. I go to that location, too, and i have never seen them. The team members are usually very pleasant. And the locker rooms are well kept.If someone is able to fix these faulty machines (after at least 3 years of doing nothing), I would be willing to change my review.
Ive been a member off and on for years, but I always come back. I love this place.
Has a lot of variety, great place to workout.
This location is ok in terms of amenities. In terms of customer service, Ive had a pretty awful experience with the front desk staff. I typically go to the West Alis location, but this location has slightly longer hours most days. I had spoken to my membership specialist at WA about adding my daughter to my membership, which he said was not possible due to her age, but he gave me several guest passes for her so that she could try the gym to see if shed like to sign up for her own membership. Great.Well, the Friday before Memorial Day, without notice, this location closed early. No sign, no phone message, nothing altering anyone to the change. Myself and numerous other people showed up, sat in the driveway calling and watching others going in and coming out in confusion. It wasnt until several days later that we learned it was due to Memorial Day. Already a sign of pretty poor management. On Tuesday 6/1 I tried to take my daughter with me to WAC in Tosa. We arrived at around 8ish pm. There were two men working the counter, both bearded. One was shorter and stocky and one was taller. The taller man took my card to scan and when I tried to give him the guest pass, rudely told us she couldnt come in because of a guest policy that said no guests after 745p. It was the first time I had heard this, and there was no email, note on the pass or comment about it from the worker who gave it to me.Mind you Id paid to bring my daughter as a guest numerous times there and at other WAC locations without issue. I asked for explanation about this policy and he rolled his eyes, shrugged his shoulders like I was giving him a hard time, and said he didnt know and that he didnt make the rules. As a person of color, Im used to going into places in certain well off areas of the city and being refused service coldly, rudely and without reason, and this guy was giving absolutely no *reason*. I asked to speak to a manager, wanting clarification on this. He sighs loudly and says yea, Im the manager on duty which shocked me because he didnt have one single ounce of professional quality to even pretend to be. I told him I wanted to understand the reason my daughter was being told she couldnt stay without prior notice, no signage anywhere basically kicking us out- because it was pretty hard to believe we werent being discriminated against. He said he worked there one day a week and he didnt make the rules. He gave me the card to the general manager and rolled his eyes and had a go away type of attitude with us. It was pretty disgusting and humiliating. I couldnt believe I was paying $71 a month for a membership to be treated this way.I had just been telling my daughter how sophisticated and high quality the WAC was compared to other gyms as we were parking our car and this is what we walked in to. Back at West Allis on another day, I asked the supervisor on duty about the incident to which she responded that they receive a lot of complaints about Tosa. She said that Tosa has been having a guest problem which is likely code word for Tosa community doesnt like folks of certain backgrounds in the gym and is trying various means of preventing them from visiting, including controlling guest access as well as crass and dehumanizing rudeness to their own members in hopes they feel offended and dehumanized enough to return.
I love this gym.
Terrible experience. Decided to try this fitness center for a guest pass with 2 members and Was discriminated by the guy working the front desk. He immediately told me “basketball is off limits” before I said a word. Also, stated if I am from out of town, we cannot use the facility. (Never checked me for a ID though) I asked why I could not play basketball his response was that’s just the rule. Also stated it’s 1 player to a court but when I walked in there was 5-7 guys on each court. He was rude and unprofessional. Upon entering I spoke to several members that verified this discrimination is frequent. I will leave it at that but I hope upper management realizes targeting a specific group is not a good look for this center. I will take my business elsewhere and my family will be canceling their all their memberships as this has been a reoccurring experience. The culture here towards specific ethnic groups is disappointing as best.
During the pandemic, Ive only been going to the WAC in Men. Falls to swim. This was my first swim at the Tosa location. Compared to Falls, this pool was more crowded at the hour I typically swim (7pm) on a weekday. The locker room at Tosa was also more crowded. I have zero complaints about either location, both are very clean with courteous staff. Id suggest visiting a different location if you want to avoid a weekday evening crowd.
Good people, good operation during covid. Look up a trainer, especially Erika.
Good, cheap gym 👍
Landscaping is great
Favorite gym Ive been too. Feels brand new with the remodel. Super clean also
Been a member here for a few weeks and I have to say its the best gym Ive ever stepped foot in! Loads and loads of equipment, machines, and classes. Facilities are always clean and the towel service is very convenient. The staff has always been friendly to me. Excited to see the overhauled locker rooms this fall. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Great gym, clean, neat and care free.
Great place to get in a quick workout. Does get busy at peak hours. Staff friendly. Many workout options from which to choose. A little pricey, but well worth it if you plan to hit the gym 3-4 times a week.
Bryanna was so helpful and knowledgeable too!I felt so at home there, and with the new remodel, the locker rooms feel like a spa!Highly recommend this location!
A great place to lift some weights and they have a diverse number of machines so you can work out all of your muscles. And after a quick cold shower you can soak in the hot tub for awhile.
Gym is well kept, and personal trainers are friendly. The community is pretty standard, and not intimidating.
This place looks like a small gym but its great size! Get good workouts here and usually find good parking. Be warned though at prime time (5pm or so) it will get busy and parking will be far away
I really enjoy going to this club and working out. The staff are very friendly, always making sure you have a great experience and if not they ask if there is any way you can help. The only downside is grabbing those nice treadmills in the back. I wish there were more of those in the front especially during peak hours.
Nothing is perfect in the world - true... however, I have been a member of WAC since the 1980s. Love being a part of this club. Machines are great & plentiful, people are nice & the locker rooms are extremely clean & tidy. The vibe is very supportive - whether youre a veteran exerciser or a newbie! Great mix of humanity... with plenty of space, loads of classes & activities to be involved in, plus, they renew key areas of the facility on a regular basis. That said, I guess its my kind of perfect - Thanks WAC Team :)
Nice facility but terrible policy. The small exercise pool is pretty small for real swimmers but the pool hours, after swim classes, are divided into Adult Swim and Open Swim, with minimal time for family swim. Dont know what are the differences between the two and staffs (Sophia and manager Logan) could not give the reason for the distinction but did turn a 2 year old boy home because he was late for the open swim time. Sorry, but I have to cancel my membership leave for YMCA (see their schedule) although I work right opposite to the gym.
Usually pretty busy, even during some oddball hours in the middle of the day, but love this place and workout here regularly.
Felt embarrassed that I sat down for 10 min to fill out paperwork for a guest pass only to be told on the back end that I couldnt play basketball. Totally understand the rule but would have been great to know on the front end before walking through all the steps. Would encourage some sort of signage or explanation on the front end.
It is a great place to work out 🐱.
Great place to workout and if you need a trainer one is available. Has everything you need there. All you have you bring is yourself and some workout clothes and shoes.
Ive been going to this gym for nearly 2 years now, and I only have good things to say about it. The gym is kept clean, there are lots of machines and free weights, and the basketball court is a big plus. Sure, it can get crowded at times, but thats the case in nearly every gym. Some people complain about the price being a bit high, but you get what you pay for. The price really helps weed out people who are just there to go through the motions and dont take fitness seriously, it also forces you to get into the gym so youre not paying for nothing. The WAC offers lots of free classes, the freedom to work out at several locations, and an overall great atmosphere so the price is justified. In reference to all the negative comments on here. It seems funny that all of the people complaining either got a dose of reality as to how bad their current lifestyles were and just got their pride hurt and decided they were perfect and that the WAC was the issue and not themselves. Also, complaining about not getting a free shirt was the reason you dont like the gym, are you 5 years old? Lastly, Big Jon is a great trainer and very knowledgeable, if he dropped you as a client it was definitely because of your attitude and not about you cutting your sessions down to a half hour. Your lack of dedication and piss poor attitude are the problem and not Big Jon.
It was very nice and purely professional
Always friendly. Desk staff very competent. Doctors and nurses are awesome!
Wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Total range of people from young to people on rehab. Not intimidating for older members. Extra rewards for frequent use can be used for trainers, massages, etc.Price is All Inclusive. Includes locker and towels. They even had a thank you luncheon for seniors. The Wauwatosa pool is great.
I love it can’t wait to see all other locations they have a sauna, steam room massage area 2 pools a jacuzzi humongous gym area for lots of different activities they have CHILDCARE (2 hour limit...20$) yoga room 3 different types of exercise rooms with so much equipment I got lost lol overall this is a great place and I’m pretty sure I missed some stuff it’s a luxury just to exercise here
The thg therapist I had was nice but did absolutely nothing for my condition. I had to go somewhere else.
Facilities are very nice and clean. They make their activities well known so you can try new things. The basketball court is normally open and has good competition. Very good experience so far.
Outside of a great functional experience, the people are AWESOME! Mike, who works at the front desk (seems like he does everything actually), always has me walking out the door with a smile and a great attitude even on days when the gym feels like a chore. Dues are a bit more expensive than some other gyms but well worth it in my opinion.
Friendly employees, great instructors, and renovated locker rooms make the WAC a perfect athletic club for me.
I absolutely love the WAC. I belonged from 2010-2016. So happy to be back now. I like this location because everything is spread out, but not isolated like the West Allis location.
Great gym, Clean and nice staff. Of all WAC sites this is one of the best ones for me. Great atmosphere and all the machinery you need is right there!
Facilities are cleaner and the staff are always super friendly and helpful!
Good facility. Dont go between 5-7 though. Its crazy packed then. Lots of bros too taking pictures of their biceps. Its so obnoxious. Good workout equipment though.
Overall, its a good gym. Tons of classes, but some require more money. The gym and locker rooms are very clean, but could use some updating. The awesome thing is that there are 4 squat racks (GREAT considering the weights area is always busy). The negative is that not one squat rack is facing a mirror - Ive never seen a gym where they werent pointed at a mirror - it is really beneficial to be able to see yourself in a mirror and fix your form. There are also no round plates in this gym and so deadlifts have to be done with hex plates. I feel the weights area could benefit from some reorganization.
Clean, friendly staff, everything about this place is awesome
Family atmosphere. Trained personal trainers. Lots of complementary classes.
Great facilities, competitive pricing structure, and helpful trainers. Only downsides are 1) disproportionate amount of ripped guys make me feel much more out of shape than when say eating at a cheesecake factory and 2) parking during busy times. Cant really fault them for either of those!
Ok, need more equipment (no more treadmills, no more elliptical, no stair climbers).
Excellent facility. Easy to focus on exercise. Many different possibilities, high quality equipment and very good staff.
I work out at lunch here 2 or 3 times a week. Never have a problem getting machines or in the pool. Staff always has a smile or greeting. Theyve had some issues of late with the showers but it seems to be fixed now.
Great instructor - Elizabeth F. Staff is great and up beat.
Great gym! Very clean, staff is extra friendly and there is plenty of cardio/gym equipment to use so that even during the busy times, you dont have to stop your workout. Even during that 1st week of the new year. :)
My favorite health spa ❣
Very clean. Great staff and great trainers.
Staff is always friendly but it’s almost always packed here (especially in the locker room) and it’s almost a guarantee you’ll have at least one meathead working out directly in front of the dumbbell rack, making it so nobody can access it until he’s done getting swole. For what I’m paying, I could probably get better and I’ll be looking into thatEdit: removed one more star because of whack hours of operation throughout the holidays, especially NYE/NYD
Great staff. Great place to work.
Never ben at this location.
The staff here is so friendly and experienced. Never had a bad experience.
My wife and I come here to work out. I am pretty happy. I can get crazy busy when the doctors change shift. So keep that in mind. Some of the sensors on machines break and not enough people report it (or use the sensors so they dont notice.). The sound jacks are broken sometimes too.
Ive gone to the WAC many times over the past year and no complaints at all. I am rather surprised to see all the negative reviews, the staff has always been friendly the facility is very clean.I will say just like any gym if you go at peak times you dont always have access to your machine but its not really your machine is it?
The WAC is terrific. But this is one of their more dated locations. Not very spacious.
Parking is AWFUL, so bad it drove me to other area gyms.
Nice Place. i go during lunch or before work. After work around 5 is a zoo.
I love the gym and all that it offers. Full of every machine you could want plus they have messages and a cool wac money incentive when signing up except the prices were a little high for me.
Good health club . Good classes and clean environment
Ive been a member at a high-traffic low monthly cost facility and pretty much you get what you pay for. To me it was missing the personal touch...to them I was just another person walking through the door and they could care less about me.The staff at the WAC - Tosa is second to none and has made my experience that much better. I have seen a few new faces up there over the past year. The WAC even lowered the cost of some of their memberships which made things manageable....and best of all I didnt have to get into a contract like the previous gym! I never have to wait for equipment because there is so much of it and I love the energy flowing through this club. I joined last summer and they were running some pretty good promos at that time! The construction isnt as bad as I thought it would be as I just cut through the Froedtert campus and it might take me an extra 2 minutes.
The best staff, equipment and people. If you enjoy working out in a respectful environment then this is your place.
Im used to the Menomonee falls location. The equipment at this location is fairly aged but otherwise good.
Always clean and even during busy times I am able to get my workout in. I also enjoy being able to switch up my routine by jumping in one of the fun/challenging complimentary classes.
Very nice gym. Clean equipment and locker rooms. They have a good selection of equipment and honestly even during busy times its easy to get a workout in. No Dbags taking up mirror space and flexing or anything stupid like that. I havent taken any of the classes but they seem to have quite a few. Personal training is affordable, and tjey have a kids play area too. Great gym in my opinion.
Fantastic place to work out. Best staff a great facilities
Always here, I think they have some off the best staff and so friendly and helpful!
Love the WAC! Always clean, super friendly staff, great group classes and childcare.
Great gym, cool setting in the old firehouse. Always well-staffed, with lots of personal trainers, massage therapists, and a busy workout class schedule.
Good equipment but the patrons and trainers lack basic gym etiquette and are very inconsiderate
Great place to workout. usually crowded but more than enough machines to get your workout in
I love going to the WAC, great equipment, space and people.
The facilities were always clean and I loved taking the classes like yoga and Pilates. The equipment often had peak hours during the week — usually right after work.I also took the 7 week class “Mindfullness and Meditation” with Cornelia and learned so much! In today’s society I t’s easy to get wrapped up in the stresses of life and forget to breathe. This was a great excuse to unplug once a week and learn a new skill to use every day. I’d highly recommend this class to any adult!
The location is convenient, but I dont like the attitude from the staff. Sorry if you hate your job, maybe you should quit. Commentary on our lifestyle isnt appreciated.
One of the best gyms in Milwaukee!
Ive been coming here 4 - 5 days a week since 2005. This is a really friendly, warm and welcoming club with no judgment. When I started I could barely do 4 sit ups and at my own pace Ive come a long way. They used my name when they saw me within the first week and encouraged me to keep coming back. I love the complimentary lunchtime classes of Cardio Circuit, Cycle and Strength they are better than I ever expected. Since 2011 Ive hired a trainer, Big John as everyone calls him. He has changed my life. Never have I met someone so positive and encouraging and yet really attentive to proper form and safety. Together we have worked on building serious muscle once to twice a week. Hopefully Ill be ready to enter their Strong Man competition this fall. This has been a dream of mine, to learn the proper barbell lifts and presses on the heavier side. Its been a long haul but Im getting there. Cant say enough great things about everyone at the Wauwatosa WAC and especially my trainer John Duginski.
Clean facility, mediocre equipment.
Great gym except when youre naked between 2 old dudes at 5pm
Friendly staff. Great facilities.
Awesome facilities, but recently became very crowded.
Its good but I like the vibe at the Y.
The exercise pool is great for my 8 yo to practice swimming. Clean locker rooms, friendly staff!
Always good.
Very nice facility. Staff is friendly as well. I highly question the facility usage decisions of management here though. For example 30-40 members use the gym to play basketball on Saturday mornings, yet they have a kids camp that uses the space most of the morning (which averages 3-6 kids). You will commonly seen10 guys just waiting outside to get on the floor. Another example is today where they shut the court down for a poorly attended strong man competition. Great gym with great staff but I question some of thier decisions in how they use thier facilities to meet the needs of the majority of thier members.
I’ve never been a gym that didn’t smell disgusting before. Love the cleanliness and the equipment and the layout!
Very nice people, CLEAN pool, fresh towels and great equipment
I love the WAC and there classes
A great, clean facility with nice staff. Even during the evening rush its not hard to find an open machine and I love the classes.
Best gym in MKE!
Amazing facility with a huge range of equipment’s.
The WAC itself is great and this is a good facility, but this location can get very busy. They have plenty of cardio, even at peak times, but the weight area can get crowded.
Very clean and up to date, they used to be open 24 hours, the hours now are not as good.
