Morgan was the best rental agent I have ever worked with. And not by a small margin - she was the best by a huge margin.I looped up with Morgan when hearing great things about her from someone else and was worried she may not be able to work with us because we were a bit far out from her usual area. However, she responded that she was happy to help and was very accomodating to come out to our town and help us look at properties in an area she wasnt usually working with. Despite this even being a challenge on her end, she didnt miss a step!Morgan was extremely responsive and helpful along the entire way - she guided us when we needed guidance on things we had no clue about (especially when helping us go back and forth with the landlord/listing agent to find a solution that would work with us), but she also gave us the space to figure out what we needed in a property and allow us to re-evaluate as needed. I never had an issue with responsiveness from Morgan, she was readily available and quick at responses while also always being friendly and informative.Working with Morgan was like having a close friend in the industry helping you out with the entire process which is the best scenario I could hope for!

After dealing with Shelalis agency I was surprised to find so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was quite the opposite.After the initial contact over the phone and an appointment to meet at the property for viewing things went south. Jon never showed up for the appointment. Instead a young agent was sent in his place. The young agent was nice however he had no idea about the situation and the state of the apartment. The apartment was in the middle of a major renovation. We liked the apartment and asked if it will be ready for move in by September 1st. We were assured by Jon that everything will be done by then. This took place on August 11 of 2020. We signed the lease and paid required fees that consisted of first month rent, security deposit and the broker fee that is equal to a month’s rent. After that we were left to deal with landlord directly. Basically Jon received a fee for showing the place, supplying a standard lease for with minor provisions and an introduction with landlord.Today is September 7th and we have not move in because the work is not completed. We reached out to Jon on September 1st and he replied back on September 4st . This is what he wrote: “I understand your frustration. I was just out of the office for a few days for the first time since the busy rental season. I dont manage the property, I only advertise and market it for the owner.But I would like to help you. I know the owner is doing everything he can to get it ready because he is now losing money on your rent because its not complete.I told the owner today I was disappointed in him for not finishing on time. He does feel bad and I hope they complete it soon for you.Jon ShilalisReal Estate BrokerAs you can understand Jon’s reassurance regarding the move in date did not mine much and since it took Jon four days to reply to our letter he was not to concern about our situation.It seems that if his commission would depend on us move in by September 1st his attitude would be different.

He claims the tenant that the “landlord” chose were going back and forth when she made her decision. I asked him why I didnt get the chance to talk to her he replied with “the landlord doesnt speak with the applicants”. He said she chose the “single high income dentist”. This guy has no heart.

We worked with Morgan to rent out a 3BR/1.5BA in a 2 family in Watertown. We have had rentals in the Back Bay and the South End but had little experience with a house/2 family and the Watertown area. It made a big difference that Morgan lives and works in Watertown -- she has the insiders advantage.Our tenant had served us a notice to quit on 2/28/2020 and we had March to find a replacement tenant just as Covid 19 was hitting the USA.Our tenant would cancel showings a few hours beforehand. Morgan was great at trying to come up with safe ways to promote and show the unit even before guidelines were out. Morgan found us a possible tenant but our current tenant did not move out as scheduled. The tenant kept delaying the turnover and on April 2 announced that she was staying because of Covid. There is an eviction moratorium and no certainty when the Covid crisis will end. We had to look for replacement tenants without knowing with certainty when we would reacquire possession and be able to deliver the property.Morgan helped manage a very tricky and volatile situation with the holdover tenant and did so with professionalism and courtesy.Meanwhile, Morgan continued to promote the unit and review applications. She would present us with all options but would give careful recommendations or suggestions re: the applications. There were a range of potential tenants - some with low credit scores, some with precarious work situations but receiving unemployment during Covid, some with pets and requests for work on the unit.Morgan helped us review the different applications with a quick turnaround. She also kept working until we found a strong tenant that we would be happy - someone responsible with good financials and personal references.We would be happy to work with Morgan again in the future and highly recommend her for her expertise, her professionalism, and her unflappable good humor.

I found a listing on padmapper with Jons contact information on it, and messaged him regarding the unit for rent. We set up a viewing time for Saturday at 3:30pm. He did not show up. I tried calling and texting him with no response. Luckily the owner of the unit lives nearby and ended up showing me the unit. No follow up email or apology from Jon either, I reached out first saying I was interested in the unit.The listing also specifically says NO BROKER FEE, which was one of the reasons I was interested to begin with. Turns out there is a full month fee, not negotiable even though the man didnt even show the unit to me and it is wrong on the posting, which is false advertising. The post says NO BROKER FEE twice.When signing the lease and setting up cheques, Jon was very pushy and also sent to me the incorrect spelling of the owners last name. Now I get to re-write and re-send all 12 cheques. Really not impressed with the service here.
