What a awesome place for a event. Very elegant inside and out. Plenty of space to accommodate large events. The bar did a great job as drinks were made fast. Food was also very good. Servers came around every few minutes with horderves. The whole event ran extremely smooth. The sound from the band sounded great even way in the back if the room. Would love to come back again for any event here. Location is very easy to get to, very centrally located in Washington D.C.

As a wedding planner, we LOVE this venue and loved the opportunity to design a wedding here! The venue does have a number of rules and restrictions as a historic building, but it is all worth it to preserve this space. We worked on a wedding which was the same day as the opening of the museum of African American history, and the venue allowed us to drop items off a day in advance due to road closures and ran the AC overnight to preserve the florals! Thats definitely the definition of going above and beyond and we cant wait to come back here!

The best thing: Its architecture. Very Athenian. Very columnar.Second best thing: Its great location. Its on the National Mall. Right on a major avenue.Third best thing: Great museums all around.Fourth best thing: GREAT interiors. Go there for any event that interests you and they have plenty going for you. Google em!Fifth best thing: A lot of nice, limestone government buildings all around. DC is about government. It may be worth your while to check out some of the major govt buildings here. Architecture is great - yes. But also, these departments/agencies run the world - Literally!

I was a guest at this event. I do not know if everything went smoothly on back end. As a guest, I did not notice any issues. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There were about 300 people at this event. This event space can hold more if needed. Not sure about parking since there were shuttle buses from the event to my hotel. You will have check other reviews. Overall it was wonderful space for event.

We had my graduation from the Jack Welch Management Institute here and it was an extremely impressive building with a great background for the ceremony. It is an old building however, and not a lot of escape from the heat if its too hot and there are a few hundred graduates crammed in the basement for a half hour!

Helped install a build for a private event. This place is one of a kind. From lighting arrangements to the space it provides for the attendees. Look and location is everything and this place has both.

Attended the Headstrong Gala and had a lovely night. Friendly staff, great food, beautiful venue. Easy to find, walking distance to metro.

Attended the AWIS summit here. The ballroom was very extravagant. The food was amazing, and the architecture was breathtaking.

Gorgeous auditorium but the infrastructure (e.g., plumbing) could use a substantial upgrade to accommodate the capacity crowds. Valet parking is best (if available) otherwise finding a spot can be a challenge.

Went to an event here and the space is gorgeous. It feels like partying inside of a piece of history. Location is ideal for staying downtown with so many hotels nearby.

The Mellon seems to be run, these days, by very new, green employees that dont know what theyre doing. Many people were unhappy with the staff and security guard last Saturday night, the 29th of July, 2017, during a wedding. Plenty of talk to the hand attitude ; no help when asked for it.
