The auditorium is great but the seating is extremely congested. Maybe that is just my opinion but it wasnt very comfortable being able to get up and out of my C. The Symphony was amazing the opera that we attended was equally as amazing
I recently went to the Lisner Auditorium to support a close family when graduating. It was overall a great experience with everything geared toward the uplifting the downtrodden people of the DC area that are trying to better their lives and situations. My hope is that other places follow suit and start giving chances to the biggest consumers to make America great again.
The place was clean, with lots of seats. Even off to the side the audio was still crisp and clear. The seats are all red velvet with the GW symbol emblazoned on them. The stage looked very professional and the stage crew did a wonderful job so there were no technical issues.
We went here for CrimeCon. We managed to get street parking right near the venue. Inside we went they the line in under five minutes. The sears are older but good. The acoustics in there are good and the sound system is good. It is older but no complaints.
Worked here as an usher for 4 years and love love love the management and staff. Denise and Celeste who have worked there for years have become like family and continually show great customer service. Good mix of shows and in a great location!
I bought tickets for an illusionist show.Ticket buying advice... dont buy anything, but orchestra seats and even that seems to have NO LEG room at all. They could remove every other row and charge more per seat. I am 5 ft 2 and it was hard to sit for a show. I will not book any more tickets at the Lisner.
An example of a bad administration eliminating good management. Several years ago, I saw several shows at Lisner EVERY.YEAR.Today, I cannot remember the last time I set foot in here. It’s been since at least 2015. Possibly longer. I’ve forgotten it exists. There’s just no there, there.
I recently had my Graduation 🎓 here with my classmates in July! Amazing place to hold events!
Nice auditorium and bigger than I expected. Was here for a live show of How Did This Get Made? Only downside is that the seats a a little small for a grown adult. They are comfortable though.
The best academic experience so far was walking through the Lisner Auditorium for my Masters graduation. The ceremony was planned in a precise way and everything went so smooth. The positive energy inside the auditorium was overwhelming 😃.
Theatre was clean and acoustics were nice. We were served at the box office quickly. Drinks were outrageously priced and cash only. Also, no drinks in the auditorium after paying $11 each for them. Seating is also first come first serve, which is fine except when the move events here from places they do assigned seating (that happened to us).
Lisner has been a DC music ICON for over half a century with so many great bands and the shows they performed there! Little Feat, Jerry Garcia Band & so many more! Anyone so fortunate to have grown-up in the DC metro area knows all the great times there! Give me a F, F - Give me an E, E.....
Bit dated but provides an intimate setting for shows.
A wonderful family venue. A family yearly traditional treat.
Great sound. Helpful staff. But the seats are impossible to sit in. Seats are narrow. If you are more than five feet tall your knees will be pressed into the back of the seat in front of you. With patrons on either side of you, you will not be able to spread your knees apart. Just keep them pressed against the seat back in front of you for two or three hours.
Settled right on the George Washington Universitys campus, there are constantly different shows being held here from theatrical performances to dance groups to student showcases to comedians to political speakers and so many more! GW students frequently receive discounts for these shows
One of my favorite places to see shows. Nice seating and a balcony. Kind of an old school theater.
We love it here. Great seats. Terrific performances.
I recommend you visit this place is very very comforting and very very nice place to go I cant say enough enough about it you need to go for yourself cuz I dont want to surprise you by spoiling your visit please go check this place out
An amazing night listening to Director James Comey being interviewed about his book. Wonderful!
I love coming here for the Washington Revels Christmas show every year. Beautiful theater. Parking in the area will make you feel like a rabid animal, though.
My DeVry graduation was held here. Easy to get in and out of. Midsized auditorium with plenty of seating. Customer service was okay. Weekend parking is limited because the garage was closed.
Loved seeing Dr. Gates at Lisner. I am grateful!
Came here for Science Bowl. Very professional and amazing.
Great on campus auditorium for seeing events. Convenient parking nearby.
Great concert, nice setting but overly zealous security kept interrupting concert
Great venue on the GW campus with lots of good casual dining and plenty of reasonable parking in the area (pay garages).
If I was to have a concert, I would use this site! Wow! Excellent!
Great venue, but the smallest seats Ive ever squeezed into.
Great location big stage awesome lighting
Great auditorium but the seats are so close from row to row. Theres no leg space...knees touched the back of the seats in front of me (Im short, 55).
A lovely but cramped experience. We came here with high expectations to see Ludovico Einaudi (he was amazing ofcourse) live, however because of the cramped seating and the rude ushers the experience fell flat. Be warned. If you are over 510 the seating will be cramped. If you weigh over 200, the seating will be cramped. My only saving grace was that I was in the balcony seats AND had an end seat so I could stretch out my legs into the aisle. My other concern were the ushers. The fact continued to seat people during the performance was frustrating. The fact they had to use their flash lights whenever they descended the stairs after seating people was almost maddening. I will add that we did sit in the balcony seating. YMMV if you are seated in the lower areas.
The opera and the artists were fantastic, the seats however were very congested, difficult to move in and out if needed without disturbing others, which made it uncomfortable sitting down.
Nice facility, was there for our daughters graduation.
Beautiful auditorium on the George Washington University campus, hosting many varied events.
Great place for public events.
Excellent seating. Even from the back you can see the stage perfectly.
Went for a graduation top notch place
Nice place my first time and I was on front row
Great venue! I saw Brené Brown speak there and had an amazing time!
The acoustics are great, but the seAts are tight, and selling food and drinks in the front lobby and not letting them into the theatre is a little inconvenient.
Great place only complaint was the venue only had cash bars which is ridiculous, people dont carry cash when traveling.
Great place. Went to a graduation ceremony there
A nice comfortable venue to see music or a show. Good metro access, with some dining opportunities nearby.
Really nice theatre venue
It had an interesting setup, and great sound quality. The one main drawback and the reason I am giving 4 stars is because the rows are rather narrow, and it is extremely difficult to get in and out of them when other people are there.
Amazing location for concerts. I never miss any over here.
Amazing acoustics! MST3K was brilliant.
Place was big and pretty.
They always host great events and have a really nice space to do them in.
We lucked out on parking. Its a great place to see events
Seats had an odd raking, so sitting a few seats back from the front and we were lower then the folks in front of us. Otherwise the sound was great, the seats were comfy, it was easy to find but there was no parking for the venue.
Great venue for concerts and public speakers.
The venue hosts comedy and rock concerts, yet no food or drinks allowed in the auditorium. An odd choice thats different from every other DC venue.
Feels special to be welcomed in this auditorium. GWU hosts welcome ceremony over here.
Nothing ever bad at GWU!!
Great venue. No bad seats
Nice venue, needs better bathrooms.
I love your movies and books I would like to sale this post!
Great graduated from here. Wonderful venue.
Small seats but great environment
Not bad.
Nice space.. seats are narrow
Here for a dance event and the building and stage are great and the atmosphere is amazing.
Easy to find, but hard to find nearby parking.
Basic layout but big and good acoustics
Great concert, poor acoustics..
