I have honestly never been to a better practice in the Triangle. The office setting is warm and inviting, the reception and scheduling staff are accessible and service oriented, and there is a wide range of specialists who all for the most part are highly experienced and qualified. Our family has seen 2 therapists over the years and both were excellent. Anyone who has been around the block with mental health services knows that finding quality care that fits your needs and insurance is like a needle in a haystack. I would have no hesitation in referring anyone to Perkins.

Perkins Psychological and Counseling Services has been critical to my familys well-being. Our two kids made it through those rough teenage years with a greater sense of their personal strengths and connection to their emotions due to great parenting (ha?), great genes (maybe?), regular monthly counseling sessions where they could reflect, vent, question and talk (YES!). As a counselor myself I believe in counseling and schedule my own tune ups with the great team at Perkins. In addition our eldest was tested and Perkins found a slight learning disability and optical issue which has made her college experience so much more successful! Eternally grateful!!

I came to these folks seeking help with my issues. I had two visits. The first meeting the lady yawned a lot and seemed to sleep occasionally.The last visit I mistakenly talked about all the new folks that have moved into this area that has seen an explosion in traffic and crime. I mentioned to her that most original citizens of this area seem to place the blame on the influx of folks from New England. That seems to be an often editorial in the newspapers out of Raleigh. Having been born and lived in the area for for 50 plus years I have been witness to it. If that is what I wish to discuss with one of these folks as her JOB, then I honestly feel that these folks need to either hire only folks from the South or better train their folks to deal with the remaining Southern folks until we all die off or move out. Perhaps some of these folks need a counselor themselves. To us these folks are not fry cooks at a burger joint. They should be professionals to guide us back to healthy thinking and living.Caveat Emptor.

After much research found a provider that fit my needs. As with most good providers she was booked. The office told me to check back every month or so to update the list. I received a phone call yesterday out of the blue pretty much accusing me of being a stalker and that anyone that is set on seeing a specific provider is a red flag. Really! My advice is find an independent provider as they are just a company trying to keep their staff scheduled and the money coming in. I am extremely offended by your actions. Stay away from Perkins and find someone that cares about you and not about the bottom line.
