We had a pool installed by The Pool Guyz and we LOVE it! We loved working with Corey and enjoyed the professionalism and quality. We will be swimming this summer and we are SO happy! We almost went with another company and then realized they did not have anywhere near the experience The Pool Guyz have. Of course any project this big is going to have a few bumps but we all made it through and now we have an amazing fun swimming pool. These Guyz are Veteran owned and have 20+ years experience and it shows!
Never showed up or called the first time. I called them and a they apologized and set up a second appointment never showed or called again. Very unprofessional, I would hate to think how long it would take then to finish the job or make any miner adjustments once work got started.
We wish we could give a higher review. However, our overall experience with our recent pool installation makes it impossible to do so. We would however, like to mention that Corey in the office was the one bright star in our project. She did all she could to rectify the issues we encountered, but ultimately it was not enough. Most of the issues we had, we believe were a result of the lack of communication throughout the project. The project manager did not seem to be experienced in managing a project and was there simply to put the pool into the ground. The pool was not adequately back-filled prior to the concrete being laid, with sand used instead of gravel. No one from Pool Guyz were around when any of the subcontractors were on the premises. The electrician was difficult to work with. His condescending tone was very unprofessional and he never even asked us where we wanted the switches placed for the pump and pool lights. The switches ended up being placed on the side where they are not as accessible as they would be if placed on the opposite side, which for a professional should have been obvious. Again, the project manager never came by after the electrician was finished so a QA of the work could be done. The concrete was the biggest nightmare. It seemed like the job was rushed and was initially done on a very cold day, one day after we had a small amount of snow fall. The concrete at one end was drastically sloped to where it would have been very dangerous, as it is stamped concrete and will be more slippery on its own. We had to fight tooth and nail to have it fixed. When we finally got the bad area of concrete fixed, it was done so again in a very rushed manner. Uneven release coloring, shrinkage cracks, rough protruding edges, and even a chunk of concrete from the bullnose coping fell out, leaving an obvious hole. The concrete contractor came by when we were not at home to seal the concrete without ever addressing the defects. Not only that, the coping was not sealed and we were told to do that on our own. The biggest concern we had with going with stamped concrete was the tendency to be slippery. Therefore, we stressed to have the required grit additive added when sealing. He did use an additive, but it was not nearly enough. I ended up having to reseal the concrete myself adding additional grit. The sealing was not the only thing I had to do myself. The concrete contractor never came back to power wash the release powder off the concrete and even had the nerve to instruct me to do it myself. I stress again that the project manager never came by to look at the finished product, which would have resolved a lot of the trouble. There was a considerable amount of concrete left on the premises after the workers cleaned out/off their equipment. I had to break up piles of concrete over 6 inches thick into smaller pieces and carried to the curb. The contractor refused to remove the concrete from the premises leaving me to do so myself. Finally, we received a discount for the pool itself because it was an in stock pool, where the gel coat had to be redone, preventing the pool from being sold as new. White splotches appeared on the bottom of the pool where water seeped into the gel coat, bleaching it and creating the splotches. They tried to say that we were we received the discount for a blemished pool, even though we were told it was for an in stock pool. The contract even states in stock and both the salesman and the project manager assured us that we would not notice the issue with the gel coat. I will say that we have since rectified this issue and have been assured the gel coat will be fixed by the manufacturer in the fall as a part of the warranty. The saddest part is that the owners never came by to look at the issues themselves, nor did they even try and contact us themselves. I know that if I was the owner, I would make a stronger effort to ensure my customers were happy, especially after paying $35,000. I must stress that we paid in full, trusting that the problems would be fixed.
Not worth the $56,000 I paid for it. The pool is nice as well as the hot tub surround, but thats it. (Photos attached). There is cement over most of the coping pavers. Some of the pavers are uneven or have a gap in them. The concrete decking is bad, you can see the brush marks going from horizontal to vertical all over the decking. They glued the pavers down and there is glue stuck to the inside of the pool (picture). They also put a chipped paver on instead of a smooth one. We also ordered a hot tub from them and had them put a stone surround around the hot tub and steps. The stone surround looks great, but the concrete slab looks like a hack job. The concrete they laid for the hot tub to sit on was uneven. So they had to saw off the sides to make it even. It looks horrible (picture). They needed to add some concrete in the front to fit the stairs. The concrete is two different colors, and has no smooth finish at all. The top step to the hot tub is not bullnose like the bottom step.
Danny, Cody and their crew were incredible. Overall, the installation was smooth. Any issues that arose.... they fixed or made right. They installed my pool during the wettest winter, so my yard was destroyed. They graded it and brought in dirt to my satisfaction. The guys were down to earth and just all around good guys.
We had an absolutely amazing experience with The Pool Guyz. Rick and Danny are not only professional and obviously extremely knowledgeable about their work but they were all around fun guys that made the entire experience one I will never forget. My kids loved watching them work and they were quick to throw out a high five and let the kids feels a part of the process. After the pool was installed we even celebrated with a few drinks and some good wings. All the Guyz made us feel like friends and not just another client, thanks again for the awesome work! Hope we can have you over for a pool party!!
We are so happy with our new fiberglass pool, its so beautiful, and is now an oasis for my husband and I in our own back yard, from the time we met Cody who was there for us every step of the way to all of the guys who installed our pool my family would like to thank all of you, Cody, Eddie, Joe, and Arnold, you all went above and beyond, we definitely recommend The Pool Guyz if you are looking to have a pool installed, we have lots of pictures, I will post some as soon as I can figure out how, LOL!
The Pool Guyz did a fantastic job on our recent pool install. From the beginning of picking our pool to the install and actually watch the dirt be dug, we couldn’t have been more happy with their company. You couldn’t ask for better contractors. They were incredibly efficient, and had our pool install done in days. They were professional and helpful and made the process easier for us. Rick had worked at our home for two days before I knew he was the owner of the company, and that’s the type of business I support. They are veteran owned and operated. They take pride in their work and warranty their products for life. We are so happy we went with them, and will now have our dream backyard! Thanks for being so excellent!
They put in our pool. Did a great job. We had some issues but they fixed them. Overall, Great service from Danny and Cody. Would highly recommend them.
We had a few bumps along the road, but in the end I was given a beautiful pool in June of 2020. We hired the pool guyz to come back and install a heat pump in October of 2020. They had our heat pump ordered and it arrived within a week as promised and was hooked up quickly the very next day. The heat pump has taken our water from 65 degrees to 90 in less than 24 hours. We are very happy with the complete finished package Thank you.
Terrible company, terrible management and owners. They installed my spa and my pool. My spa floated out of the ground a week after they installed it, while it was full of water. No one from the pool Guyz came back to fix the issue, they sent there hardscape contractor to just put it back in the ground and the pool Guyz never came back to make sure it was done correctly. Now it has floated out of the ground again and the pool Guyz are saying it’s not a installation issue but my lawyer has already told me that this will be a easy case to win because we have pictures and videos and we will be getting a whole new spa installed correctly at the pool Guyz expense. I would never recommend this company to anyone. The owner of this company was full a where of what’s going on and no one has responded or reached out with a solution but they have my money? One of his own employees told me to sue them because they do not want to fix it or take responsibility and they have done this to serval other costumer once they have your money if you have a issue they will not respond! Buyers Beware. So be cautious of where you spend your moneyPart 2. Someone needs to check the paperwork. We signed off on everything being completed in April 2019. So no, it hasn’t been 2 years. I had bought other pools companies out to look at this mess and they all had the same conclusion It was a installation issue because it should have never happened in the first place. Now this morning since the company no they are wrong but do not want to take responsibility, they send me a text message saying they will fix it for $10,000.00. They are trying to Extort us for more money after we already gave them more than $100,000k for the pool and spa. The owner put a number out there to give her a call but of course, she wasn’t there when I called. My lawyers will handle it from here.
We had a pool installed August 2019. The installation was a nightmare. After many months are pool was finished. We experienced 2 leaks during this time. Both were in the lights. After opening the pool this year, we now have yet another leak. We have decided to have it fixed ourselves. The pool isn’t even been in the ground a year. When my grandson heard that we had another leak, he was very upset with the thought of the pool guyz coming here again. We experienced extensive property damage during the install ( septic / driveway). They said they would compensate us for the repairs but that check never came. We asked numerous times to speak with Rick the owner, never heard from him. We spent a lot of time and money to enjoy our pool this year. Well now we have to have it fixed again! My husband and I wouldn’t trust this company to install a blow up pool in our yard.
I signed a contract with the pools guys in March with an installation date for may. As I prepare for this date removing all of my pavers I was told we can’t move forward until I had new survey because of zoning disturbance outside of the planned area. I had another survey completed and submitted to the permits department myself. I followed up without any responses twice. I told Cody about result I was given and he said he was going to follow up. NEVER heard back from him. I called the permits department again and the employee told me “the pool company was suppose to submit information to the land disturbance department” which obviously was never done because they never followed up the first time. With that being said I didn’t want to go with this company anymore Plus with Covid and the uncertainty it holds for our businesses future I canceled our contract. Now I’m getting the run around about getting my deposit back. I wouldn’t recommend this company they’re lacking communication which is the key component of running a business.
I hired Shane and company to repair my coping and they did a fantastic job. Shane answered all my questions in a timely manner and made sure that the job was completed to the high standards that he is known for, despite suffering debilitating medical issues during the course of the job. When any problems arose, Shane (in his wheel chair) would come to the house and oversee and participate in getting the job back on course.Despite setbacks and delays caused by weather and material delivery, the job was completed as promised and looks amazing. I have retained Shane and company as my pool service provider and will continue to use their other services for maintenance, service, opening, and closing of my pool. You can count on Shane to take care of your pool better than anyone else around. Highly recommended!
We are on the Va Eastern shore. We talked to 3 contractors in the Va Beach area and 1 in Salisbury Md. The only contractor that truly worked with us was Cody from Pool Guyz. The other contractors didnt want to take the time to help us find the correct pool for our small yard and completely blew us off. The pool was done on time and on budget. The crew that installed the pool was professional and fun to work with. We are thrilled with the final results and love our little oasis! Thanks again Cody and crew!Chip & Lisa Moore
Very Happy with the final product! My fiberglass pool by Viking pools and professionally installed by the Pool Guyz is everything I was hoping for!Special thanks to Ric, Arnold and especially Cody for your hard work and professionalism. I appreciate you all very much for the quality product and professional work. They just made it easy for me! Ask questions! They want their customers to be happy and understand that most people have never done this before.Happy Customer ✔️Happy Family ✔️Beautiful Pool and Spa✔️Affordability ✔️
Great company to work with. Arnold and Ric did a great job. They make the pool installation process look easy. The entire project went smoothly. They payed close attention to details. Arnold went above and beyond his duties and was there to answer any questions. The Pool Guyz know what they are doing and they are the only company I would choose for fiberglass pools.
I feel sorry for the reviewers on here with bad experiences because our experience has been beyond superb... Install was great and 700sf of pavers later my backyard was turned into our own personal oasis... it’s been one year since install, I’ve had 2-3 minor issues that required fixing, and every time Mr. Cody made sure someone was out to get it fixed within the next 24-36 hours
Excellent company, lives up to its fantastic reputation! First time buying an in-ground pool of any type, and Ric and the staff at The Pool Guyz could not have made it any easier. From initial sales call and follow-up, through selection of the pool model, scheduling of install, the (marvelously) efficient install process, and superb follow-up, pool training and support, these guys were simply fantastic. Fiberglass is definitely the way to go if you want to make the process smooth, easy, and quick, and The Pool Guyz are the ones you want for a smooth and enjoyable experience.
The Pool Guyz are a wonderful company to work with, from planning with Cody to install, to cleaning and instructing is on pool care. They do what they say and make communication easy. So happy with our pool!
We are in the process of having a pool installed by this company. We found everyone we worked with to be very professional. Their work ethics are impeccable. We dealt mostly with Danny and found him to be polite, efficient, and very knowledgeable about the entire project. If you are ready to install a pool, we may recommend this company, The Pool Guyz of Virginia Beach, once the project is complete. I will be back with an update.Update: I am updating my review, and hope to update again. The install went great, and except for the charge of using the crane that was never used and not refunded, the install went well. They did say the crane cost was applied to the machine that was already here and used for the digging. (Not stated in the contract) Now, waiting on the project to be finished. Not receiving any calls or updates as to what is going on. All communication has been on my part. Hoping this improves...I will follow up with an update later.I am updating my review, as I promised. A big shout out to Cody. He was very receptive and extremely helpful with all the above issues. He guided us through the remainder of the install. He did get us a refund of the money allocated for a crane that was never used. He communicated with us keeping us informed on the remainder of the install. It speaks highly of a business that takes feedback and uses it to improve their services. I saw an 100% improvement on communication, which is so important for a layperson, like myself, who knows knowing about the installation of a pool. Would I use them again...definitely!!!
I just had a pool and spa installed at my new house Im building for me. Im very happy with the outcome and would recommend them to anyone. Im a custom home builder and plan on using them again in the future. They go the extra mile to really do a great job and are great to deal with. Many thanks to all of them for a great job and their attention to detail.
Over all process went smoothly. Finished product w pavers around pool deck turned out wonderfully. Shout out to Arnold who has consistently taught me the ins and outs of all the pool equipment. Has driven from Va Beach to Newport News anytime I’ve ever needed help. Would recommend them in future.
The Pool Guyz staff are professional and very knowledgeable about their craft. They took their time explaining every detail about the pool, installation and upkeep. We highly recommend them and actually already have! Give them a call...you won’t regret it!Erich & Susan Bradley, Chesapeake, VA
4 years ago I bought this beautiful spotted fiberglass pool from #thepoolguyz My $30,000 is paid off and STILL looks like a leopard!!!! It has been drained and sanded yet STILL looks like this!!!! Imagine the water bills, electricity and chemicals we have wasted money on!!!! Not to mention the broken LED lights that took a year to fix!!!! They always say someone will fix it in a couple weeks I even recommended them to a friend that spent over $50,000 and they got the run around as well!!! WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Pool Guyz installed my pool back in 2006 and its still Great! If you have any questions or concerns they are there to answer. We would recommend the Pool Guyz to any homeowner looking to have a fiberglass pool installed. Also, our neighbors had a concrete pool installed while we opted for fiberglass and over the years they have had to change their liner 2 to 3 times equaling thousands of dollars while we only had to replace the Chlorinator which was around $500. A great saving in the long run plus you will be swimming in weeks vice months.
I wouldnt recommend them, nor use them ever again. We made several attempts to have them to come out and close our pool, after three scheduled no call no show appointments, We used our neighbors pool guy who turned out to be cheaper a $150 to be exact, and he offered the exact same services. Shop around and save your money.
Had a pool installed this summer. In spite of all the rain we had the project moved along on schedule. Eddie and his installers were easy to work with and had good communication. The real standout was the gentleman named Arnold, who came to open the pool and this fall came to show me how to close it. Arnold answered all my questions patiently even when he had to answer them twice. Very Knowledgeable, even discovered two problems that I didn’t even know were problems and corrected them before he left. He is an asset to this organization.
Danny has gone above and beyond to provide excellent service on our pool installation. We love our pool...and more importantly our kids love it!
We had a pool installed and had problems with the concrete skirt within one year. They never resolved the problem. The skirt cost $10,000 they tried to pay me $2800 and wanted me to sign something saying I could not talk about it. We have a chip in our pool that continues to get bigger. The heater broke after 3 years. Find someone else is my advice! !
We have a pool installed by the pool guyz and despite some delays and complications that were not entirely under their control, things worked out very well in the end. The best part of the experience has been Arnold and his ongoing support. We have had very few issues but Arnold has always always been willing to come and get them sorted out quickly (light issue and filter gauge). He is very responsive and responsible and a definitive asset to the company.
I had a 16’x40’ pool installed by pool Guyz this summer, all the workers are friendly and know exactly what they we’re doing, my kids are enjoying the pool every day, good job pool Guyz !
Never reply back to your messages
Wow. There is American pride in ownership, craftsmanship and service of a product. I can not say that there were not problems, however communicating the concerns really resolved a lot. I can not think of another company i would call for a pool install. Thank-you Ric and the Pool Guyz.
There are far too many honest and reputable pool companies to do business with this contractor. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere!
I met with Louie from the Pool Guyz while going through a review of the local pool builders in the Hampton Roads area. After spending some time reviewing builders and options, my wife and I decided to have The Pool Guyz install our pool as we were very impressed with their Viking product line. Arnold and his crew showed up to begin the install and began the dig by moving/replanting an in-the-way tree in the backyard. The dig and install went quickly and I cannot offer high enough praise for Arnold and his team. They worked quickly and effectively, without a lot of downtime and had the pool in the ground inside of three days (it would have been two if not for a shipping delay caused by the wide-load size of the pool on the roads). Since the install, Arnold had personally been back to monitor the activities and status of the final phase of the build. We now have a sparkling, crystal clear pool and the backyard of our dreams.
If youre looking to install a pool you need to give The Pool Guyz a call. They gave me a great price and Danny and his crew gave me my dream pool. They were very professional and explained everything to me step by step. Definitely would reccomend to anyone .
Save your money and use someone else!!. I regret doing business with the pool guys. They are fast to take your money and slow to finish the job. The quality of work is poor. The pool has been In the ground for over a month and is still green and dirty. The pool was installed way out of level. They attempted to even duct tape what they call a well point together then try to convince me it was ok to duct tape it. Who pays 45k for a new pool with duct tape holding pipes together? They also ran into and damaged my 75 year old trees with the excavator. The conduit for the pool lighting is under sized and not installed per manufactures instructions. My property was left a complete mess and only got cleaned up due to the crew doing the pavers. After checking with DPOR they are also missing required information required by state law from their contract!Have pictures to back all my claims up.Terrible experience!!
I had some questions about my hot tub. They do not service or sell above ground hot tubs but the gentleman I spoke with was friendly and made a recommendation for another company. If I ever wanted a pool or in ground spa, Id call them first 🙂
I’ve biught two pools from the poolguyz. Great products and service. Their guy Arnold always takes care of our needs! Highly recommend.
My husband and I are happy with our pool, the team did an awesome job..looking forward for next season to enjoy...Thanks much...
These GUYZ were awesome, start to finish. Did exactly what they said they would do when they were supposed to do it. One of the best experiences Ive had with a contractor. Keep up the great work GUYZ.
This Company is amazing from Start to finish. Very Happy with our pool system.
Installed a pool in November, they did a great job and provided great customer service.
Awesome service! Our pool came out great.
Love this place...wings crazy good!!!
Had pool winterized by pool guyz. Pump system/chlorinater cell not shut off. Freeze plug in heater manifold not removed. Chlorinated cell appears to be malfunctioning perhaps due unit being on with no water all winter.
I called for service on a pool they installed. The receptionist said they would call back. When they never called back, I called again. I was told to call someone else, they dont service pools, only install them. I would think of another company if you want someone who stands behind their products.
We love our pool by Pool Guyz!
Their the worse company out here save your money, because once they get it their lines of communication STOPS!!!
