If you want your car in the best working condition take it to Star Auto Authority. They will fix what you ask them to and also tell you what needs to be done in the future. They gave me an itemized list of things that needed to be done to my vehicle. There was no pressure! They recommended doing one thing at a time to fit into my budget. Great Customer service & the establishment is immaculate! One of the biggest perks is the loaner car! Drop off the car for an oil change, hop into the loaner & run some errands while they work on your car! Star Auto Authority really is the best!

Was told I needed new spark plugs and to replace my fluids. Came to STAR for a 2nd opinion. They gave me the CARFAX for free and revealed the spark plugs had been replaced just before I bought the vehicle and it was more likely my engine and cabin filters that needed to be replaced. Also 2ndd fluid replacement but only COOLANT and TRANSMISSION which I had them do. Gave me a loaner in the meantime. Always great service. Peter is great. Highly recommend!

I wasn’t ready to buy a new car but my 2007 XXX sounded awful and I’d just been to the dealership twice in last 6 months. The 1st mechanic said I needed new tires which they never did order and the 2nd said ” you don’t need tires. You need a belt”. So… I just kept driving it, until I got a flat tire right in front of Star Auto. A policeman came up to my window and said “pull into Star and they’ll fill tire with air”. So I did and met manager Bill who told me to pull into garage. OMG, my car echoed so loudly inside their garage! Bill says “something’s wrong with this XXX…they just don’t sound like this! ” He asked if he could take a look at it. So Bill, in his office clothes along with a mechanic went to work, found the problems, quoted me a more than fair price, gave me a free loaner car and returned to me the next day my like-new 2007 Camry! This happened 2-3 months ago and car remains smooth, quiet and winterized! Thank you to Bill!

I had an accident and was looking for body shops near me. I found this place on Google. This is really a nice facility with professional and friendly people. The best thing they did for me was to offer a loaner. The loaner is a Toyota Corolla with large decals of State Auto written on it, but I cant complain. The loaner made it really easy for me. I was extremely hesitant to pay $200 for a detail. The owner even assured me the quality would be superior to all others. I suppose it was my mistake for trusting that. The detailing was well done, but nothing that superb. At this price I expected EVERY crevice to be cleaned. However, in my cup holders and my center storage, there were still crumbs. My car wasn’t even that messy to begin with. It just took a Clorox wipe to clean it, but after $200, I expected it to be spotless. They did do a great job cleaning the floor mats, though. However, the listing on their website says they buff out small scratches, I didn’t notice any small ones buffed out. I understood not being able to buff out the deeper ones on my car, so I’m referring to small ones, specifically.

Another great experience with Star Auto. Chris was very helpful and explained exactly what was going on with our car. Repairs were done quickly as promised, and everything was perfect. As a side benefit they provided us with a free loaner car while ours was in the shop. You cannot beat the service and quality provided by Star Auto authority.

My first time here. Just stopped in for an oil change, and I was blown away by the level of service I received. Not only did I get an oil change, but a very detailed inspection, complete with report and recommendations, but absolutely no sales pressure whatsoever. The entire facility is immaculate, and everyone I met is very friendly and professional. A defective brake light bulb was found during the inspection. I got it replaced, and a full-synthetic oil change, and the amount I paid was still about half of what I would’ve paid at a quick-lube establishment for just the oil change! I’m never going anywhere else....

Over the past 10 years that Ive taken my cars to them, I have found them to be honest, helpful, professional, courteous, clean, and expert. Their waiting room is spotless and fully stocked with beverages and snacks (freshly baked cookies!). They have 28 free company loaners if expanded repairs are necessary.

Great service and long term results: 19 months ago: The first car I brought to Star was my Mustang that had been rear-ended. Star did the body work, and worked with the other driver’s insurance company, and over 19 months later the repair looks exactly as when completed: excellent.14 month ago: The second vehicle I brought in was also for a rear end repair, to my F-250 truck bed. A very complicated and involved repair since a complete new bed was no longer available. At my request (not part of the accident claim) they scheduled the time and manpower to wire-brush and re-undercoat the frame. Star searched for, found, modified, welded, prepared, primed, painted and mounted the “better-than-new” bed and new tailgate. The vehicle was now actually in better condition than before the accident! Use of their loaner car was a great money saver for me since the repair took a while to get parts. All in all they did a great job, and final prep and detailing made the vehicle look new: 14 months after the repair friends still ask if I got a new truck! Ive also used Star for tires, regular maintenance, and advice on add-ons. They give complete answers and are always helpful. Their warranty is top notch and a major reason why I recommend Star: I will bring vehicles here for repair through 2019 and 2020!

Very disappointing...This is my experience, when I first came in for a estimate on damage to my car, immediately Bill tried to sell me tires, they started at $1200, which is out of my range, he gave me a few more estimates and they were too expensive for my budget, I had to look elsewhere, mind you I did not come in for tires but they were needed. Then I had to follow up many times to find out if Eddy spoke to my adjuster, as the insurance company was waiting on word from them. He did not answer my emails, I called and Bill answered and made excuses for not even a returned email from Eddy, then Bill said, didnt I try to sell you tires, when I told him I could not afford their tires I had to look elsewhere he said yes, we dont sell poor quality tires. All this is extremely disappointing, as I am a single mom and all he wanted to do was sell me something I could not afford, then I was completely ignored on the other issue my car was having. I would definitely look into another place if I am ever in this situation again.7-17-19 After reading the reply from Star Auto Authority yesterday, it disappoints even more, as they completely put a spin on my truthful review to try to condone their treatment towards me. I knew the tires needed replacing before I went there, Bill did not tell me something I already didnt know. I would have loved to have them replaced there until I found out the price, and when I chose to go somewhere else I was made to feel like I chose an inadequate product, which was all I could afford. My frustrations were absolutely not about the spring/coil and I discussed this with Bill, my frustrations were that no one would respond to me(Eddy) I understand this isnt covered now and will be finding another place to fix it. Had someone taken the time to explain why it wasnt covered, this negative review wouldnt exist. I had to call after multiple attempts to reach Eddy and when Bill got on the phone he explained why it wasnt covered I accept and understand that no problem, BUT then Bill started in on me about my tires, even though that had nothing to do with my phone call. I am very happy to take my car to get fixed by my Subaru dealer, or an honest mechanic such as Mundelein Automotive who have a great reputation for not trying to take advantage of their customers, especially their female customers such as Star Auto Authority tried to do to me. I am writing this review as they took private information about my car and used it against me to try to make themselves look better. I had not mentioned anything about a part not getting covered in my previous review because it is a mute point, it is not covered...... I received a free loaner car which was immaculate and my car was washed and vacuumed after the service was complete. While this service center is more expensive than some mechanics, it is definitely less expensive than any dealership and the quality of service that Star Auto provides makes it well worth the money. Pretty great shop. I normally would expect places that are as clean and nice as this (see the pics) to be pricey, but its really pretty competitive. Tune up is a bit on the high side, but otherwise, its fairly in line with area pricing. Theyre super friendly and can honestly deal with you if youre a car guy or dont know anything more than, gas goes here. I love the drive in area for dropping off your car. Gets you out of the heat/cold of Chicago weather. Waiting area is clean and nice too, but loaners are free or they can drop you and pick you up locally. Really, an all around great, honest place to get your car serviced from top to bottom.

I came in with a flat tire on an all wheel drive vehicle. Kaleb did the research and confirmed with the manufacturer I only needed to replace one tire, not all four. I was back on the road the same day. Star’s pricing was better than nearby dealers and discount tire stores. I then asked about pricing for oil changes and other routine services... I will be using Star for all service and repairs going forward. The facility is clean and state of the art. The free loaners make everything smooth and easy.

I was extremely skeptical to see a mechanic with such a high aggregate review so I took it with a grain of salt. However, my service was exceptional. I discovered my car had a pretty nasty flat and so last minute I drove it in because it was the closet shop to my work. I talked to Bill and he was incredibly kind and attentive to my problem and the last minute of the situation.I work in a cleanroom and only get to go out for lunch and bathroom breaks so it can be frustrating trying to reach me some days but even though we played phone tag, Bill still was patient and attentive and explained everything to me and to my parents (it turns out, it was more than just a normal flat).I am thankful to have found these wonderful set of mechanics who tell you what you need and nothing more.

Went in for a slow leak on a tire that Ive been experiencing for months. At first they didnt find anything obvious, and ended up taking the tire off the rim where they found some slight corrosion which affected the seal. Took then over an hour and cost me nothing. Went couple days ago to fix my radiator leaking. The problem was identified last year and I have been using the sealant for a year.The process was smooth, and job was done in 1 day. I had been pretty satisfied, until I came home and found out a price quote I got one year ago from another auto shop for the same problem and same solution -- replacing the radiator.For the quote from anther shop, Labor+parts+Misc 41.39, total $593.27.For the price I paid here, diagnostics+parts+labor_supply all together is $808.53, which is about 36% more expensive.I regret not checking my history of service, but simply chose the convenience since Star Auto is so close to the ice arena where my son plays hockey several days a week.

I had a nail in left front tire. They fixed the tire at no charge. Also they are good at informing me for near future needs of my car. I know what to budget for future repairs. Great service and care for my Audi S6, I trust them very much. My grandma took her car to these scam artists who tried to convince her that she needed a new battery and a new set of tires... needless to say, none of that was true. Took it to two other auto shops, one being the dealership where she’s leasing the car, and both told her that neither the battery nor the tires needed replacing. The people working here should be ashamed. Trying to take advantage of a senior citizen is as low as it gets. Will never do business here again, and would advise that anyone who is elderly to follow suit; they will try to take advantage of you.

Wow, what an experience! I havent got my car repaired yet, but I am very much impressed with my first visit. Mr. Harris was extremely pleasant to talk to. He clarified all my ifs and buts I had in my mind. A free loaner car, a reasonable estimate fee, very nice customer lounge.. I dont think I would ever go back to any other auto service. Star Auto Authority at Vernon Hills completely changed my perception about mechanics. Since the first moment when the service Manager Mr. Harris answered my phone, he had been showing great care, courtesy and professionalism. He explained all the procedures clearly on the phone. When I got there, he put in my order quickly and arranged a driver to send me to work, and scheduled to pick me up in the evening. Robert, the driver could not be more helpful, considerate and professional. When I was off the commuter train, he was already there waiting for me. The entire office made me feel that I can trust the place.

You guys didnt even bother to wash the car. I was expecting a better service. I wanted to get more things done, but it doesnt look like happening.

When I talked to Kaleb he gave me an estimate on a service before knowing the exact make and model of my car. I was content with the price and after we finalized things the price ended up being less than originally mentioned. I would expect other places to avoid changing it to the lower price if possible so this was a warm welcome to my first visit. I dropped my car off in the morning and was given a ride to work which saved me lots of time waiting for the service to be completed. When I returned from work my car was well cleaned and ready to go. Thanks for the great service Kaleb!
