If you want to get better in every way, sign up for classes at East West Martial Arts! All the instructors here motivate you to do your best and encourage you to keep trying, regardless of your experience level. I leave every class with more confidence, strength and knowledge than I came in with. My clothes are starting to fit better, I’m sleeping better and I just FEEL better since I started taking classes here. Big thank you to everyone at East West Martial Arts for providing a safe and positive place to learn and improve!
They are great. I dont have experience with other Martial arts locations so I am basing this on our classes here specifically, but my daughter really enjoys her classes, the instructors are fun, friendly and really keep the kids wanting to learn more.
It has been a wonderful place for our grandson.
We love this place the stuff is amazing
East West Martial Arts is simply amazing. Their passion for instructing kids in martial arts is second to none. But what I want to most praise them for right now is their birthday party hosting skills. We recently hosted our youngest sons party here. To say it was the experience of a life time is an understatement. The hostess, Ms. Evelyn was superb. Her skills in keeping the kids involved, smiling, and having a good time was a true blessing. My son and all he guest never stopped having a good time. She transitioned them with flawless ease from one activity to the next. Giving me, the mom, the ability to ensure the pure delight of my childs celebration without concern and stress. I simply cannot recommend them enough, giving them 5 stars doesnt simply like enough!!!
We have been extremely happy with East West Martial Arts. The staff is amazing. Classes have a lot of energy and variety to keep kids engaged and growing in their understanding of martial arts. The staff are very kind and encouraging. They challenge our daughter to be her best and continue to make improvements, not only in Karate, but in her life as well. She absolutely loves coming here.
My son was very nervous and didnt want to come inside. He was sitting on a bench outside the building. Someone who worked there came outside and was super nice to my son explained that it would be fun and he would show him around. My son has anxiety Hes 7 and he made him very comfortable! The other employee told me thats the owner! So shout out to the owner!!! Thank you!!!! The private lesson was great got it free from the mall. Will be for sure signing up. I think this is a great fit for self esteem and focus where we are trying to improve in. Thanks so much!
My kids and I participate in childrens, teen and adult programs. Its my favorite activity weve ever done together. Its great discipline and exercise, and builds confidence for all of us. The instructors and curriculum are great, and the kids really look up to their instructors. I highly recommend for families, and as a female, Krav Maga leaves me much better equipped to protect myself, should I ever need to.
Been taking my daughter since she was 3.
The staff are very welcoming, friendly and seem to take a personal interest in the students, it was nice to be welcomed by name only my second visit. Being new to the world of martial arts, it can be a little overwhelming on what to do or where to go. East West answered all my questions and helped guide me in the right direction of my personal goals.
Our daughter went here for about a year and had a very positive experience. There are classes and instructors that cater to the level of the student. Minus one star because they are very sales focused and are always trying to push something - it can seem a bit intense.
Our son takes classes here and they have definitely helped him improve in his confidence and discipline. He is more focused now and continues to set & meet personal goals. It has even helped him make great decisions in school. I dont anticipate him becoming the next Bruce Lee or anything, but I do feel like he is learning basic defensive maneuvers that he can use in real life situations. This may not be the school for everyone so you should definitely take advantage of the discounted promos they have and the one-on-one intro sessions. (We had ours with Ms. Gigi and she is the coolest. Shes really positive and motivating)
As a single grandma raising a 5 year old,I didnt expect the experience I have had in just 2 months. My grandson loves Mr. Ken and Mr. Eric. He is learning and it may not seem that he is but I can see the improvement. We do take the discipline seriously and it is working at home. This has been the best decision we have made. Its not just an investment in his fun but in his future and I really like that.
The instructors are great with the kids! Always have great energy and positive reinforcement. Highly recommend this place.
Ill cut to the chase and say that Im a BIG fan of what they have going on at the Hazel Dell location. I got started with self defense a little later than normal (37 yrs old) and each staff member has made the process really accessible. Martial arts can be intimidating at times but Eric, Tre, Mike, etc are always happy to lend a hand even if its a few extra questions after class. If youre even remotely on the fence about joining, I HIGHLY suggest it. Ive been in Krav for about a year and I feel like Ive learned so much. I cant wait to get my daughter involved in the younger classes when the time is right. To sum it all up: all the thumbs up for the crew there. They really go out of their way to bring out the best in each student Thank you, East West Martial Arts!
Great caring staff, excellent instruction
My quiet, kind 9 yr old grandson, a 5 year student at EWMA, recently had his training tested while playing at a neighborhood park. He and his older cousin brought light sabers to share with any kids they met there and a friendly battle began. It soon became apparent that a bigger boy was an aggressive bully that the kids tried to avoid. The bully singled out my grandson, chasing him and repeatedly hit him on the head; something all the kids had agreed was not fair play. Having had enough of the rough play, my grandson firmly gripped his double ended light saber with both hands and with what was clearly Figure 8 Bo Staff Defense, blocked the blows while backing the bully across the playing field until he gave up and went away. My grandson was not aware that his training had kicked in automatically. He had tried to avoid the bully, did not start a fight but only defended himself. Thank you EWMA for instilling the confidence and determination in my grandson that he needed that day.
Awesome, fun, and friendly instructors it feels like one big happy family with everyone they help all there kids and their families find good healthy solutions for issues that happen at school and at home they are non judge mental and help boost your confidence we have been there for about 4 years and have loved ever bit of our experience there thanks to everyone and keep up the good work😊😊
This school does not teach the true martial meaning and their concept is simply money, money and people who are very fit. if you are an adult looking for common sense self defense do not go to this school. if you are looking for a workout and a place full of egos then you found your place.
Our son Emerson has now been a student at EWMA for over 3 years - he loves it even more than the day he first began. The instructors are incredible and really tailor their training for each student - and always in a positive manner. We love EWMA!!
This place is a marketing machine. They will constantly try to get you to spend 35 bucks on their parties, pressure/shame you into going to their graduation ceremonies that cost money, and buy more damned belts that cost even more money. We spent over a grand for a six month family membership and will NOT be going back. We have received a call almost every day for the last 2 weeks, sometimes 2 or 3 times in one day. We ask them not to call and they just keep calling. Its so unbelievably frustrating and unprofessional. Unless you are cool with an endless marketing machine, be wary.
My grandson has been going here for years...these folks are awesome...they do get you coming and going $ wise but they are awesome!
Good place to begin, or start a journey on marital arts. They practice a new form each class session and if you are not put
Instructors are nice and helpful, prices are a bit high though.
We have loved our experience at East West Martial Arts. They have great instructors that support students. My son is getting his junior black belt next month and I have done the adult Krav Maga classes.
My son has been attending East West Martial Arts for 2 years now. He started when he was 4 years old and persurvered for two years. He just graduated with his Dragon Star Belt, in Little Champions. I asked him before his graduation if he wanted to continue on into Black Belt Training. His answer to me was that he needed to take a little break. He said he still wanted to go back someday, in hopes to be invited on the XMA team. So, we were set to take a quarter off. Well, the very next karate class day after graduation, he asked me why we werent going to class. I looked at him very surprised and refreshed his memory of what he asked for. He gets so inspired by watching the older kids, XMA team and Demo team performances that he apparently changed his mind. Off the next day we went to sign him up for Black Belt Training. He was so happy to be at class, with his friends that he has grown with for the last two years. Not to mention, spending quality time with the instructors that he is inspired by. Thank you, East West for helping our son to grow in a safe and comfortable environment.
I started taking Krav Maga classes at East West last fall when I was recovering from cancer treatment. I was exhausted every day and very out of shape. Ive been a student for over a year now, and it has changed my life. Im more physically fit, self-confident, and happier than Ive ever been. The instructors are all very skilled, professional, and friendly. Krav Maga has changed my life and the environment is so wonderful that I also have my four year old daughter enrolled in their Tiny Tigers program. It has done wonders for her as well! I highly urge anyone who has ever thought about martial arts training or who just wants to get fit and learn some self defense to enroll in classes. Its so much better than a gym membership, if you ask me.
East West Martial Arts Hazel Dell, is the kind of place that can change your life for the better. This is NOT a MMA fight train facility. This IS, a get in shape, stay in shape, learn common sense self defense tactics, family orientated, reasonable cost training facility. My family and myself have trained at East West for approximately 7 years. My daughter began in the kids program, earned 2 black belts, is currently finishing her Krav Maga training, and is an on staff instructor. Im 56, have multiple belts, and am able to keep up with my 14 year old son because of this training. My single favorite aspect of training at East West, is the comradery that exists between a broad demographic of individuals working to attain a common goal. The pain is real, the professional instructors see to that, but its typically pain that exists due to being out of shape to begin with. Unlike the gym, the fast pace of the class creates the illusion of rapid time passage. The hour class, which there are many times to choose from during the week, is over in what seems to be less than 60 minutes. Also, while cross-fit type gyms are great, East West adds the real life element of common sense self defense. Whether being physically fit enough to run from danger, to removing the weapon of choice from an assailant, East West can prepare any individual, mini-van mom, teenager, or old fat dude, to stand tall and confident. Thank you for years of excellent service, I highly recommend East West. Rick Valkama
Our family has done the Tiny Tigers Program up to Krav Maga and Kung Fu. The instructors are excellent, knowledgeable, and always make you feel welcome. We really couldnt ask for more!
I started the Krav Maga program with them about two and a half years ago. I started because of some really bad past experiences and within the first 12 weeks I already felt more confident. After about a year and a half of doing the sport I chose to start the Brazilian Ju Jitzu program. Aside from the physical changes for me, the instructors for Krav are supportive, compassionate, and helpful. And the BJJ instructor is amazing he frequently turns very repetitive movements into fun and challanging games almost. And with both classes and all instructors if you ever have the opportunity to spar or roll with them they will meet you at your level or whatever level you are pushing for. I love this center and will continue to train here for as long as I can!
Krav Maga reviewPROS:-Good physical conditioning experience-Good teamwork experience-(Mostly) friendly peopleCONS-$120 a month (plus fees)-You must pay for the uniform (price varies)-$300 in fees and expenses to advance the next level-Youre striking the air and fighting ghosts and pads, instead of people (beginning)Im still fairly new so Im going to re-evaluate them after my first year. Hopefully much has changed in my experience when I advance. The beginning stage needs some serious improvement; I was expecting something a bit more para-military, considering the nature of real Krav Maga.
My two boys have attended classes at East West Martial Arts for the past 9 years and I couldnt be more pleased with their kids Karate programs as well as the adult Kung Fu and Krav Maga classes. All the instructors are fabulous and have always made my family feel as they were part of their family. If you are looking for a place for your children to train where they receive life skills as well as excellent martial arts training then you should definitely give East West a try.
We paid dues here for over two years and when we wanted to drop the class for financial reasons they refused to cancel the final dues payment. All they want is your money.
Great instructors!!!
