I went here once before and my experience left me a little wanting. The stylist was very nice, but didnt do the cut I requested. I figured Id try them again and go to a different stylist. I believe Ive found my person! Jenn did such a great job on my pixie cut, gave me great tips on products and showed me multiple ways to style. I will absolutely request her in the future. Not impressed, I paid $25 to not even see a difference in my daughters hair. She seemed irritated that I wanted her to wash my daughters hair first and didn’t even do what I asked for with the cut. I wanted her to even out the back and she didn’t… I feel like she didn’t even try with her haircut

I went last night and got a full cut and color and o m g my hair is to die for! I haven’t stopped getting compliments on it and it feels so healthy and beautiful. Cassidy did an incredible job explaining everything to me, and honestly just made me hair look the best it ever has.

Melissa did a great job with my cut and color. Went for a short style and love it. Melissa is a good communicator. Took 3 different pictures in and we discussed what I liked and didn’t like about each one and we came up with a perfect cut.

Vanis has always been the place I treat myself. I come out looking and feeling great, but more importantly, I really enjoy being there. I go to Brittany- and shes incredible. Shes talented and great at what she does, but also a blast to hang out with while there. AND Vanis has been so thoughtful in making me feel comfortable indulging with the COVID precautions in place to keep everyone safe.

I’ve always been extremely pleased with my services at Vanis. They are pricey for the hair services, but their other services are comparable. I recently went in for an eyebrow tint and wax. While my eyebrows look great, the skin beneath my right eyebrow was ripped away leaving red marks!! I’ve never had that happen at Vanis before, and I’ve been going there off and on for almost twenty years.

Ive been coming to Vanis for about 8 years and I wont go anywhere else. Jay is my stylist and she is the absolute best! She never disappoints me.

One of the the worst hair cuts ever!! My hair isnt even 1/4 inch on sides. Cant blend top to sides cause theres no hair. Very disappointed!!

I want to say that I’m very impressed by this establishment. Today was my second time going. I decided that I wanted to get highlights. I have a lot of hair, and my hair dresser Alex was just amazing. It took her 3 1/2 hours to do my hair and she never complained. She was professional and polite throughout the whole process, and my hair turned out beautifully! I stay far from the Valparaiso location but I have no problem making the trip for good service. :-)

I took a picture of the color and cut that I wanted and the stylist got neither right! And told me that I would most likely need to come back 4 times every 4-6 weeks to get the color I want. WHAT? Oh and it cost $210. WHAT? To look like I have a box color and a bowl cut. Nope

I must say if I could give Vanis more than 5 stars I would!! I went there to get my eye brows waxed and my hair cut and colored and I can honestly say that was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had getting my hair done!! I started with lorie doing my eye brows and their spa rooms are amazing and warm and so comfortable and clean!! Lorie was so sweet and did an absolutely amazing job!!! I then got my hair cut and colored by Tori who not only listened to everything I said but went above and beyond in every way she possibly could!! I did not go in there with a picture or even the slightest clue what I wanted done but I knew I needed something different!! She didn’t just ask how I wanted my hair but she took the time to listen and really get a feel for what I was really wanting and needing and boy did she nail it!!! I absolutely am in love with my hair and it’s everything I wanted and more!!! All this plus the amazing experience and how kind and sweet everyone there was from the receptionist all the way back to to the lovely ladies that washed my hair and gave me the most amazing head massage and really made sure I felt pampered!!! I am in love with this place and would recommend them to everyone and anyone needing a little pampering!!!

I was turned away at my appointment today for having my children with me (one is 2 months old, in a car seat sound asleep, the other is my very well behaved 5 year old). 4 girls stood at the front desk just looking at me as Im told I cant be serviced. Humiliating. Apparently, single mothers who cant just up and leave their children for hours dont need haircuts/color. Some of us dont have that luxury of leaving them with someone. My 2 month old is exclusively breastfed and has never had a bottle, where I go, she goes. Period. Ive been a loyal customer and brought my kids with me over the last 11 years to the Vanis Salon in Crown Point and NEVER had any issues. Not to mention, I dont see anywhere on their website or in their salon stating this policy that children cant be brought in to the salon with their mother, Ive been told its an insurance policy, well maybe post that somewhere so mothers know youre not a kid friendly environment (even though you allow children back there if youre being paid to cut their hair!). I have never in the 11 years of being a mother been turned away from any appointment for having them with me, hair salons, nail salons, etc. I will no longer be a loyal Vanis customer and I will be sure to tell all my friends (moms and otherwise) about how I was treated by the women up front and your establishment. Despicable.

I just had my first facial at Vanis Salon with Laurie Scarborough.....it was an amazing experience. She made my skin feel fantastic as well as rejunvated, not to mention an extremely relaxing experience. Plus she made recommendations for skin care to keep my skin looking young and vibrant.

I took my mother and I to get facials for our first time . Laurie Scarborough did a outstanding job it was a wonderful experience!We left feeling brand new and refreshed after the facials.We are going back every month now. :)

Spent the night completely upset over the money I had spent at the other place and how much I hated how my hair looked. I took a chance and booked an appointment for a cut with Jordan and I was BEYOND pleased with her service. I had never had that awesome of an experience at a salon before in my entire life and I finally have gotten the cut that I have always wanted but no one could ever fully achieve. She was very professional and down to earth and took her time throughout the entire appointment to make sure I was completely happy with the end result! Will without a doubt be going back to her!

This was my first time here. Tori cut and styled my hair, and it was the first time Ive brought in a pic of what I wanted my hair to look like, and actually walked out with exactly what I wanted. Best hair cut Ive ever gotten. Well worth paying more than a typical chain. Great friendly staff as well. This will be my go to place !

This is a great choice for a hair cut/color or a spa day. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. It is definitely on the higher end price wise but well worth it.

Horrible. I had such high hopes for this place. I have naturally (healthy) curly hair. I wanted my curls to be wavy for a wedding. Jen went over it with straightener made it very flat, passed over it too many times & left heat on it way too long. My hair had no body, I had to keep telling her to fix it. At the end she seemed agitated... ha. Imagine me. I will never return. 50 wasted.

Have gone 3 different times for the same cut and partial highlights. EACH time different amounts. Well over $100. Hair length doesnt touch shoulders and was charged for long highlights. I dont pay this amount to visit a doctor!

I had my haircut by Heidi today, she was really nice and offered some suggestions to my style. Just what I needed. Even though I dont get my hair styled as often as I did when I was younger, I am still extremely picky about my haircut. I will definitely be returning.

I met with Brittany today and she did a phenomenal job on both my hair and brows! She was friendly and professional and I even appreciated how she interacted with co-workers around the salon. When I am back in Valpo I will definitely see her again!

My daughter booked her makeup trial for her wedding day. When she arrived she checked in at the desk and the esthetician took her back. My daughter was under the impression she booked an airbrush appointment. As the appointment was nearly through, she was confused about the makeup she was actually receiving. She asked the esthetician if they offered airbrush makeup and the she said yes, but you’d have to book another trial. Then as we were checking out, one of the girls at the front desk gets my daughters paper work together and basically starts reading from her script and welcomes her to the salon and introduces herself as her bridal consultant. Seemed a little backwards to us. Maybe if that would have happened on our way in this consultant could have confirmed which service my daughter was actually receiving at her trial. Fast forward to the wedding day my daughter was nearly finished with her makeup and two more girls from the wedding party arrived for their makeup, they told us that the second esthetician had quit and no one was available for additional makeup application. They did email my daughter 4 days earlier to let her know of this change. Emailing a bride about a change such as this is unacceptable and unprofessional. We were satisfied with the makeup the bride received.

I went in to get my hair cut, my normal girl was busy so I went with someone else. My stylist talked me into coloring it too. She quoted me 1 price that was the cut and color. When I went to pay it was $105 more than the quoted price! Claiming the extra fee was the extra coloring she had to use. Bull poop. My hair is barely to my shoulders.

Wonderful experience every time. Price ranges are from practical to pamper yourself. Reasonable all in all considering the outcome has always been very good.Highly recommend this salon.

Awful. I gave it one star because I had to. Where do I begin? First of all I asked for a cut and blonde highlights, pretty simple, right? Well apparently not for the stylist that did my hair. I walked out of there looking like I bought a box color from CVS, while being charged 220$, YEP, TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS. I was sick to my stomach. So I call the salon to speak to the manager and she is too busy to speak to me, so I leave a message for her to call you me back and guess what, doesnt even have the decency to call me!!! Unbelievable. If this review helps just one person, then Ive done my job here. This is the first Google review Ive ever written in my life!

After several visits to achieve a hair color wanted, I give up on this place. If your stylist goes off to get a color consultation with her team & you still dont get what you asked for then its pretty insane to keep going back. Its also really annoying when you ask for one application of color and they come back to your chair with four bowls of different color because they decided it was best to change the game plan after just talked 15 minutes ago (yes it took that long to mix all that color). Way to go on getting your clients to pay more money by insisting on multiple applications of color because you swear Im going to love my hair when im done. It looked bad by the way. Oh and why are there Aveda products on the product shelves everywhere but you arent using Aveda hair color on your clients? So all it took was one visit to a salon down the road by the Y and I got exactly the look I wanted with a single application of color.
