These are literally the kind of people you look for in the garage world. Honest to a fault. Once you figure out the kind of service they provide and the honesty they have you will drive to them from a long ways aways. They are not out to get the money they are out there to perform the perfect service. If they know there is money to be made on the parts they will give you the part numbers to buy the parts by yourself from the dealer. If aftermarket is an option they will be honest and let you know that paying the dealer price isnt worth the money. Ive brought Porsches Jaguars BMWs Hondas you name it and I have gotten the best service you can expect from an independent repair shop.

Theyve ALWAYS been my go-to repair shop. Recently, I had to have my car towed and have a starter replaced. Knowing how busy they are, i wasnt expecting a quick turn around. However, a little over 24 hours later my vehicle was ready to be picked up. This situation was out of the ordinary, required a simple fix and Im sure not all experiences will mirror mine, but I will reccomend these guys til the end of my days or theirs.

Very honest and reputable business. They find the problem, fix it, and all at a very fair price. Once I took my car in thinking the wheel bearings were shot, they diagnosed it as cupped tires and didnt charge me a dime. If I cant fix the problem myself, the car goes to Gills; period.

They tell you straight as to the issue and what it will take and cost. They dont have you get extra work done you dont need. They will help you anytime and dont charge high rates. They do a great job and stand by their work! Besides the guys are really nice and friendly; Mikes a little shy though.

I use to live in Valpo and they are the most wonderful family business, They are to the point and truthful about anything they find in my cars, I have serviced 3 different cars for several years and I never had a single issue. I compared price which was given by other places with there price they are 50 less in price for the best service they provide. you go to a dealer for diagnostic, you will be charged $120-$150, at Gills they don charge you because they value you loyalty and providing best customer service. they will suggest something ales if they think it will benefit the customers. I Live 70 miles away and I still call them for any advice and they still take time and explain and give me a direction and I still sure love to go to them than any body ales.

I was stranded in Valparaiso 350 miles from home in Wisconsin. They managed to squeeze me into a very busy schedule(because they are great) to fix my truck so I could go home and not rack up more costs! Roger was very friendly as well. Highly recommended! A++

They dont overcharge and they dont exaggerate problems. Their employees are dependable, friendly, and responsive and Ive never had an issue with a repair theyve done. This is the only place I will let fix my car in Porter County.

I have owned 2 cabs, 5 limos, and a bus, so I have had a lot of experience with shops. Gill’s is one of the best. Wish I would have found them years ago.They put in a new engine in my bus, took only 5 days. This was a 10 cylinder in a van chassis, so it was a difficult and time consuming process. I have been to them 4 more times after that, and they have always found + fixed the problems, never overcharged me, and I have had a good experience each time.

I came into Gills about 2 months back with a brake problem. I had to take it back 3 additional times since it was misdiagnosed each time. I didnt complain and paid each time, but the owner (Roger) was very rude and acted as if I was wasting his time (even though I paid each time I came in). I consider myself to a nice and patient person, but I would not want anyone else to be treated the way I was treated at this establishment. From the misdiagnosis to the anger of the owner, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

I do not understand how Gills has gotten such great reviews after my experience. I needed my cars ac recharged. Simple job. Industry standard costs involved. No big deal. Except, I didnt take the car into Gills, my wife took it in. It should have been a simple half hour task. My wife sits there for 2 hours and then the guy comes out to tell her that the condensor has a hole in it and needs to be replaced. For $648.42 he can repair and charge her Flex ac up. The situation devolved after that into rude behavior and childish taunts that she would be back to Gills because theyre the cheapest shop in town. Thats not a close adjective to describe Gills Auto Repair. I would choose theiving or lying or something similar. My wife took her Flex to a different place in town. The owner checked the car himself. Ran the dye test 3 times. Couldnt find a leak in the whole system. So, thank you anonymous guy of the other shop for charging up my wifes Flexs ac system and proving that the people at Gills are liars and theives. Her car is blowing freezing cold air enough for her glasses to fog up leaving its interior. Needless to say, I would never set foot in Gills shop again. I dont care how cheap they are.

Have done a good job for me, no complaint here.
