I just moved here so I was very nervous on trying to find a good mechanic. They were fantastic! Ive had issues with my brakes for as long as Ive had this car. Not only did they get me in quickly but they fixed it quickly. The price was pretty fair which I am very happy with. When I got the car back I was shocked it was the smoothest it ever drove and the brakes were the best theyve ever been. Definitely coming back here whenever I need anything done!

I was told by my tire store that my brakes were fine. I knew however that they were not. They pulsated during braking. I took my car to Daves and they found the problem and my brakes have been great ever since! Daves can be a little pricey and they do try to steer you into purchasing additional services you may not need at the moment but they are kind and professional. Just be sure you know what you want and need when being serviced there. The quality of their work is indeed excellent.

We have been taking out cars to Daves since we moved to Valpo in 1994. They may sometimes cost more than their competition, but they do consistently excellent work with professionalism and courtesy. Ive never had a moment of regret for taking my car to them.

Had a dead battery on an out of town visit. Having a Mini Cooper, I needed a specific battery. Daves was the only shop I found that not only had one but could also install it. In spite of being extremely busy, they did so within a couple of hours so I could get back home as planned. Could not have been happier!

My steering cable broke and I bought the part. They fixed it in an hour knowing that I had to leave the next day. Great repair service. Very fair prices. I have them marked on my map for future use

Brought in our 2009 Ford Flex before a road trip. Daves suggested replacing control arms due to worn bushings. I brought it to the local Ford dealer for a second opinion and the dealership said the control arms and bushings were in great shape. Brought it to another mechanic for a third opinion and they also said the control arms were fine. Ive read other reviews on Daves and it seems they make a regular practice of recommending work that doesnt need to be done.On another trip i asked Daves to replace my low beam headlights in my BMW. They called me to tell me no headlights needed to be replaced. I let them know the daytime running lights were fine but the low beams needed to be replaced. The mechanic looked again and said he found one that needed to be replaced. I figured maybe the other light got bumped and started working again. Got the car back and I still had a headlight out but ended up being charged $70 to replace just one of the lights. Brought it to the BMW dealer afterward and had everything replaced fine thereI would not recommend Daves Auto for any work. At best they demonstrate incompetence and at worst they take advantage of their customers to make an extra buck.

Dave’s Automotive goes above and beyond to help their customers. I always get straight forward advice from them even if it means they’re not making as much. They recently agreed that It was time to retire my 13 year old Honda Pilot and even offered to help me list it for sale. Fantastic service. Thanks Dave’s Automotive!

Professionalism and customer service were spectacular. They were detailed in explaining, and had diagnostics to back up their work. From beginning to end, the entire staff was superb.

It isnt often that you can say that you got truly exceptional service at an auto shop, but Daves is not your average shop. They care about their customers and their cars like they are their own. I had a lot of service done six months ago at Daves and experienced some very serious problems recently. I had the car towed to Daves and they took care of the problem completely without charging me a dime! I could not believe their dedication to service and their customers! Overpriced. Just moved to Valpo and my brother-in-law recommended this place. Had an emergency and they saw us coming. I’ve been in the automotive industry for 30 years and never seen this type of price gauging in a very long time. Lesson learned. Can only pray quality parts and work were done. Will never go back.

Daves does quality work at a reasonable price. Got rid of my problem car but will be back w the other car.

I was very disappointed in the charges that I received when I brought my vehicle to Daves for a wheel bearing replacement. I had the same work done at a place in DeMotte for less than half of what Daves charged me. When I questioned the price I was told thats what it is. Period. Not going there again!

Came in for a compression test on my subaru, they did it fine but witheld information as to which hose was leaking and wanted to replace all of my hoses. See the other reviews Bulking Up methods they try to extort ever last hard earned dollar they can get from you. Wanted 1,000 dollars to do a 100 dollar job at most. Saab coil pack went out told me it was 1000 to replace. Got a coil pack on ebay and did it myself in less than 5 minutes. it wasnt extremely complex, just four bolts holding it on. I cannot for the life of me figure out WHY they needed to charge 920 dollars in less than 5 minutes of labor. This will be my last time ever calling daves
