I never made it past the receptionist. I stopped in, because I had brought my older children to this office (via referral) when they were teens, and had decent luck. So, it seemed like a good place to start for my current teens. This is the age of masks. They are for everyones protection and well-being. I understand this. There are two receptionists. The woman ahead of me, who was checking in her child for an appointment, was having great difficulty being understood, and so pulled her mask down. The receptionist on the left then opened her window and waved me over. We started to talk, I was muffled of course (she was not, as she was not wearing a mask), so I offered the information that I am fully vaccinated, and pulled my mask down in order to be understood. At this point, she informed me that I needed to keep my mask up, so I complied. I asked my questions regarding whether or not their office accepted my insurance, including handing her my card. She was uncertain, and called over a more knowledgeable coworker. This coworker looked at my card, said, I dont recognize this card, so we probably dont accept it. You need to call your service provider. Not quite rude? But not polite, either. I then said, Out of curiosity, if I have to wear a mask even though Im vaccinated and there is plexiglass up, why doesnt she (motioning to the receptionist)? Instead of answering my question, I got a curt/bordering on rude and condescending lecture on HIPAA regulations (yes, I know, Im also HIPAA certified), an explanation of the reasoning her company had for requiring masks in common areas (yes, I know, I didnt question that).... and then quickly changed the topic. As mentioned, I am HIPAA certified. I know you cant ask if Im vaccinated, hence the reason I volunteered the information in order to reassure the receptionist. She couldnt be bothered to answer the question I actually asked, and was very snotty about the things she DID say.So. I dont care if they take my insurance or not. No thank you. I dont have the time or energy to deal with people who are paid to listen, but cant be bothered to do so. I mean, imagine, if thats what the office staff is like, what the current therapists must be like as well. Ugh. Go ANYwhere else.
Went for an initial visit. She was late15min, it was my first visit and she still had to take care of my paper work that took about another 5 to 7 minutes. After 35 minutes of actually talking she was getting ready to get me out of the door. The whole amount for initial consultation that was 35 minutes was 260.00 which my insurance only paid 114.00 . Please if they are going to charge that amount for an initial visit, do your homework first if she is someone that might be a good fit and make sure you are getting the time you are billed for.
I would give zero stars if allowed. I was harnessed by this facility with phone calls. In addition to that I was belittled by the office staff and never got an apology for their mess ups. Dr. Cal, is borderline abusive therapist. I was only required to go here to settle another medical issue. I had no choice but to see him and the entire visit he didn’t listen to a word I said and documented random things I never said. In addition he made fun of my hight and other things. He is down right rude, disgusting and creeped me out. Do not go here. Its nothing but trouble and will leave you feeling worse off. They literally had no reason to be calling me. I answered the phone for several of their calls just to get one right back or on weekends
I recently went to Compass for Psychological testing and diagnostic. During the initial visit, the Psychologist seemed friendly enough and asked the usual intake questions. Second visit was WAIS testing which took approximately an hour to complete. Rather than invite me back to the office with results, she called me early in the morning and pretty much told me that I was ‘Too smart to have ADHD’ and left it at that. She was not very personable and it made me feel like I was just some money in her pocket. This put me in a very dark place mentally, because after seeking help I was left in the dark. After this, I decided to go for a second opinion. It should be noted that I was diagnosed at a young age, and was just being re-diagnosed for treatment. The next Psychologist that I went to had 3 separate appointments with me, all very personable and caring, and did more extensive testing with me. I was successfully diagnosed, which Compass failed to do.I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. They do not care about anyone’s mental health. They are not in this business to help people, they are in it for your money. Not only that, but they will not successfully diagnose you. Completely unprofessional, and I think the Psychologist needs to go back to school because she obviously knows nothing about ADHD and mental health.
Received a bill an entire year after my initial appointment. Did not feel like I was truly listened to. Would not recommend this clinic at all. Seems to be super unorganized.
The doctors are helpful but the office staff is hard to get a hold of, especially if you need to request a refill.
Just received a bill for $135, nearly three years after I was told not to come back. At no point in that time have they attempted to contact me. At no point did they inform me that there was a co-pay.The help I saw cared more about forcing religion down my throat than trying to help. The last time I was there, I was told, Dont come back until youre ready to start tryingWorthless.
After trying out many different clinics/therapists, I finally found Compass Clinic! I’ve never felt more comfortable then my time spent with their team. My therapist was patient, kind, caring, and very understanding. She broke things down for me in a way that made it easy to understand and helped me to incorporate these new habits into my daily life! The location is nice and convenient to get to. Great overall experience! I have recommended this clinic to many friends and family members who also have loved their experiences here!
Compass is an AMAZING place. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with warmth, friendliness, and professionalism. The front office gals are great. Scheduling is easy and they are happy to answer questions and help you. The newer billing dept is very knowledgeable and billing runs smooth. The clinicians are great as well and really care about the clients. Im glad we chose Compass!
My son started at Compass Clinic several years ago as a young teen for ODD (oppositional defiant disorder) after trying a different clinic that was a disaster. His counselor at Compass Clinical has be fabulous to work with. He’s really gotten through to our son. Our counselor worked not only with our son but also with us as parents to better communicate with our son. Over time our son’s diagnosis changed to anxiety, which was an appropriate change as he got older. When we started our son on anti-anxiety medicine, I appreciated how our counselor worked with us and our son’s physician to be sure we were all in agreement on the diagnosis and medicine options. When I needed our counselor in a tense situation 18 months ago, our counselor was there for us. He spoke with our son at 10:30 pm. I have found our counselor to be extremely knowledgeable on a vast variety of subjects, easy to work with and most important, extremely helpful to our son and our family. I highly recommend Compass Clinical.
I have found the flexibility in scheduling to be amazing here. They truly care for their patients and are so understanding. I would not go to any other place. Bruce Buchanan and Dr Barlow have helped me and my family through many tough times.
Compass Clinical is an excellent place to receive services for your mental health needs. My family has seen several of their professionals. Each time these professionals have treated the members of my family with respect and understanding. I would not go anywhere else for my mental health needs.
I have recommended Compass Clinic multiple times over the past several years. Counseling has helped my children and myself through some difficult times. Bruce is one of the most caring and professional men I have ever met. He has been there for us when needed and I am proud to say that my relationship with my children is solid. My children know they have someone they can trust and confide in to help them work through lifes problems when needed. I can honestly say that I have become a better man and father since I met Bruce Buchanan.
This place is wonderful! We have seen our therapist as individuals and as a family for the past 10 years. Bruce Buchanan has been accessible, caring and a lifesaver for our family. He has always seen us when needed. I have reccomended this group to friends that have been impressed wit their experience.
Bruce is the best therapist. Helped my family for years. He is very caring and compassionate. I trust him completely and cannot say enough wonderful things about him. He is the very best!
I can honestly say that Bruce Buchanan saved my life. He has helped me through the hardest things I have ever experienced. I HIGHLY recommend his practice to anyone needing help.
We have a large, complicated multi-racial family. Bruce Buchanan and others in this office have helped us with early childhood trauma, reactive attachment disorder, anxiety, and several other extremely critical life issues. At CCA, all 8 of my family have been treated with loving care and respect. Billing has been reasonable. Staff is friendly and capable. Diagnosis’s have been accurate and SO meaningful- great for understanding, coping, and working things out.CCA has helped us through really hard stuff. We will be grateful always. I can and do recommend them with full confidence.
Nonsensical, uncaring, and unreasonable policies prevent this business from being a compassionate and helpful mental health provider.
Ive had them call me the day of an appointment to reschedule me multiple times now and give me a new time months later. If you dont have enough personal to take care of your patients at least let them know up front to find another provider.
Compass has saved my family in more ways then one over the past 6 years. My son suffers from severe OCD, anxiety and depression. His therapist, Bruce, has turned over every stone to help my son from biofeedback, hypnosis, an array of behavioral approaches to setting him up for TMS. My son also sees Dr. Barlow to address his anxiety and depression through prescriptions. Dr. Barlow and his office are receptive to his thoughts and needs. I recommend Compass to family and friends.
I cannot explain how my treatment works on a physical basis. I can explain how my treatment impacted my life. I am about 8 weeks post treatment. During treatment, my depression subsided to a point that I started changing my behaviors. Not intentionally changing my behaviors just changes.Prior to treatment, I would not take care of my personal hygiene. My road rage was all but out of control. I had nothing in my life that seemed to make me happy. The never ending PTSD controlled my life. With the caring staff, this treatment regiment, my life has been changed. My therapist was exceptional in my care, as was the rest of the staff.Post treatment, I have had only one day when I felt a little out of sorts. Absolutely nothing like I was prior to treatment. I can sleep through the night. Road rage is absolutely a thing in my past. I have also noticed other changes, some as small and simple as my handwriting has improved substantially. Im back on my Harleys enjoying life. I pay my Bills on time. I cut my grass as soon as needed. Others have noticed a change in me as well. All of this I credit to Compass Associates. If you or someone you care about is dealing with depression or anxiety, talk to the staff at Compass Associates. This may not be right for your situation, but they can evaluate the situation and make appropriate recommendations. I feel I owe them the life I now live. I know for fact that my life has changed for the better because of Compass Associates.
Would HIGHLY recommend this facility!! Our family had utilized Bruce Buchanan and several other therapists to help us reach our goals towards being a strong, cohesive blended family unit and healthy from PTSD. Bruce is amazing and he genuinely cares about people. We have used many other disciplinarians offered at CCS including TMS which was life changing for myself. You will not find a better full circle mental health facility!!!
The staff Is patient and friendly. I have been seeing therapist here on and off for about 12 years. I always feel welcome.
Friendly, efficient, and willing to work in collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure integrity in the holistic care of children and adolescents, and their family.
As a foster parent of 8 years I worked with 4 different people in this office, as well as 6 other therapists in the area. I would recommend all 4 Ive worked with at Compass. Their scheduling system isnt crazy backed up, billing is easy, and my kids got the help we wanted for them. I cant say the same of all the other places weve gone (as directed by DHS when the child was placed in our home). I highly recommend Compass!
I have been coming here for years. I have always been satisfied with services. They do a wonderful job in a broken mental health system.
Dr. Barlow is awesome he is extremely supportive and easy to talk with. I have never had a bad experience with the front desk staff. Every employee really seems to care about how you feel and are very helpful.
Go where the best minds are, they have been very helpful to me and have helped save my life
Ive been coming here for the last 6 months and have been made feel very welcomed. The receptionists are always in a good mood and willing to go the extra mile to help meet your needs by doing more than most other private clinics out here. They dont have reminder calls but my phone has done a good job at reminding me. two thumbs up!
All my therapist Jenny cared about was making money! Not my well being. I missed an appointment and I showed up the next for her only to tell me she didn’t want to help me because I missed my appointment last time. So I opened up to her for nothing. Thanks for letting me down.
If youre looking for a diagnosis or even hands on therapy I do not recommend this place. Was sent there for my daughter to get evaluation for 1 or 2 visit to be diagnosed and she refused to diagnose or tell me anything and just kept pushing us for weekly therapy so she could rack up a pay check. After telling the doctor who referred us that we have been going weekly for almost a month with no answers she said something is wrong and to cancel all appts. Waiting on a better referral . We saw a female named Yolanda. Such BS how they can do that to a child.
We drive 2 hours to receive services from several of the therapists/doctors at compass...always very professional but more importantly, real and down to earth. It has been very easy to feel comfortable here and I would certainly recommend their services. I am glad we were referred here to begin with!
Check your bill!!! I was referred to Joy Ashbaugh for memory deficit. I saw her for one appointment but was billed for two visits. I contacted the office and they told be I had been there for a second appointment and Joy wrote a progress note. I never even had a second appointment scheduled. Joy called me and said she contacted a third party (the doctor who referred me) and learned from them that she only saw me one time. It is concerning that she could not determine that through her notes and the company she works for. I had a meeting with the owner, Bruce, and Joy. Bruce made excuses for the error and said it was an electronic error that I was scheduled and that the note was written in my record. I attempted to get the progress note to present to state board to prove fraud but the document disseappered before the meeting. The owner and Joy said Joy accidently documented on the wrong patient so they moved the progress note to the correct patient. Joy was dishonest about her phone conversation with me including when she told me that my name was on the progress note. The owner did not accept any responsibility and only made excuses. Not things I would look for in a therapist or company. Would never recommend this company or therapist to anyone.
The staff and Dr. Barlow are wonderful. They run a tight ship and are very receptive to their patients needs. I highly recommend them!
My trusted and compassionate psychiatrist moved to Compass Clinical Associates a couple years ago. Each time I arrive for an appointment I am greeted pleasantly. I have always been treated with respect and care by all the staff. In fact after a vigorous discussion with my insurance provider, a Compass insurance specialist stepped in to help resolve the issue and make extraordinaryly helpful suggestions.
The staff and my therapist here are very caring. I am currently working through some issues and they have been very helpful. They are very clear that if you do not cancel an appointment within 24 hours, you will be charged for it. I think this is important to respect the therapists time, and they are not just trying to get your money. I have never been talked to about money in a session. As for not calling patients back, they are also very clear that you can contact them at any time, but may be with patients (and hello, they have a personal life). As for billing calls/billing I honestly think this has to do with a flaw in our health care coverage for mental health, not the establishment themselves, they are professionals and should be paid appropriately.
The place is fine. Not perfect but its a mental health institution, its kinda to be expected. The front desk staff, the therapist I see and the nurse practitioner I see are all very kind and do whatever they can to help me.
I have not been to this clinic and have no intentions on trying to get in any longer. I was referred here to get help for my 6yr old son but have never received a call back from the Dr I was put in touch with. At the time my son was on Medicaid and I was told that only 1 specific Dr was accepting new patients at the time and he would have to speak to me before accepting him since he was on Medicaid. I have never received a call back. Shows the character of the Dr when you cant even get a call back. Im looking for some help for my son, not someone who just wants to get paid. Shoould have read the other reviews before hand and not wasted my time
Absolutely worthless staff.... I cancelled my appointments and 2 years later they come after me for no show fees and are sending my Bills to collections amd taking me to court They refuse to do anything to work with me, wouldnt reccomend them to anyone.
Extremely disappointed in my 3 yo daughters (former) therapist. (Yolanda Dixon)At one point I left messages daily for 4 days (she was supposed to call after a session & hadnt so I was following up) she finally called (after the receptionist said she would tell the clinic owner of my complaints) She seriously called after 8pm the night before our next weekly session. She hastily cancelled an appointment at 8pm the night before another session - telling me she worried that I had misunderstood & wanted to make sure we werent coming the next morning. She later told me she was called out of town to help her mother so I think she just wanted out of our appointment. Finally, she sent an email telling me that time got away from her so she didnt call with her thoughts on an evaluation form she had me complete in her office. (It had seriously been 2 weeks & didnt have time to call me) This was the last straw. After a month of weekly appointments she sent a play-by-play to our pediatrician. (My daughter had her 3 year appointment & I wanted to discuss the sessions with our doc)Yolanda didnt give any opinion or direction - just that she wanted to keep seeing my daughter. Our pediatricians was disappointed & told us to not see her anymore. I see another reviewer had an almost identical experience. You seriously have to work at being this unprofessional. If she was having a personal issue she should have referred me to another therapist. I am a very understanding person. But this was ridiculous.
Horrible. My therapist rarely shows up, has terrible communication skills and failed to respond to my short term disability company in a timely manner. Office staff is incredibly unprofessional and has been down right rude. Insurance billing is lacking in knowledge and I was blamed and billed.
My children and I all saw therapists there. My overall opinion is that they are mostly condescending, egocentric, rude, and not all of them are terribly bright. If you miss an appointment, you will be charged an exorbitant amount of money and they will neither take nor return your calls. I found all of the therapists to be very disrespectful. Quite a disappointing experience.
Ive been going to compas for 6 years now and I love it. It was the first place I went to for therapy and medication, and to this day I would recommend them. Billing can take some time but thats to be expected with insurance.
I really liked it at first everyone was polite and it was a nice place. However the will drop you, refuse to answer calls and ignore you if you miss any appointments. They dont care that you have a life too and an 18 year old that is just starting to learn how to be an adult and things come up. If you miss a couple of appointments, it means there not getting paid and thats all that matters. They dont care about you they just care about getting paid. Very unprofessional I didnt appiciate they way I was treated.
Very professional and helpful staff. During my time with Cal I learned a lot. The skills I learned here will be helping me for a lifetime.
Awful experience do not go here they are cold, unfriendly unprofessional and do not care about their patients their main focus is getting paid and will harass you loudly over copays and the therapists will use your time to talk about money. They are not in it to care for peoples mental health the receptionist downstairs is especially rude and unwelcoming. Just go somewhere else. I wish I had.
HORRIBLE! Run for your life! They have 1 billing person who works from home she doesnt have a clue! You will be billed the wrong amount, they will come up with charges after the fact and the receptionists have zero tact and clearly lack training. Not worth your time...
They dont diagnose, they guess. Youre a giunea pig for years of drug trials. Dont disagree with their choice of meds or stand up for what you know body wont tolerate. If you do, they take away all meds, suggest you see someone somewhere else, and turn their back on you, while neglectfully knowing it can takes several months to see someone new. They will bully you to do it their way or no way at all.
I was reffered by my Dr. six months ago to see a therapist, so almost three months ago I decided to call and make appt. I got one three weeks out, got a call on the day of the appt. and therapist was ill (I understand it happens). So I get Re-scheduled three weeks out and on that day I had a sick kid and couldnt make it. So you guessed it I got an appt. for three weeks later and go in to be told we dont have any record of your appt. on file at all, but you can come back at noon. I have a tight schedule and waited over two months just to be sent out the door!Horrible experience and I will not be returning. If youre actually wanting help I would NOT suggest this place!
Let me start by saying this practice should be sued for the unprofessional misconduct by the office staff and two of their doctors. (I will only name one doctor)The office staff is by far the WORST staff I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Watching at least 2/3 people coming for appointments each week (while waiting for my son while he was at his appt.) the front staff would turn away clients saying, their appointment was not at this time. This also happened to me more than once. They are not competent to keep the schedule straight for any of the doctors and they are EXTREMELY RUDE.More importantly my son for 5 years plus year was treated by Dr. Cal Seda. He diagnosed my son incorrectly, so we were not able to get him the correct treatment and training needed for him to develop his social skills. Dr. Seda was his buddy not a therapist or counselor. Also he did not bill properly (in the Spectrum), this way our insurance would pay for thousands of dollars of visits. There were no cooping mechanisms given to him on how to handle bullying at school or social situations which made him feel uncomfortable.By only thinking of the money, this clinic have drastically delayed his social development by at least 7 years. If you value your love ones or yourself, do not go to this.....establishment.
The worst office staff I have ever dealt with to the point we rescheduled at a different clinic. If you cars at all about being treated with compassion go anywhere else
Fantastic place. For the first time in ~ 20 yrs I do not feel depressed. TMS has really worked for me. Dr. Barlow and his whole staff are extremely professional and supportive. I was a bit skeptical pre-treatment but the results have been superb. I highly recommend TMS and Compass Clinical.
I saw Jenny, a short middle aged woman with short hair. She has the chemical structure of serotonin on her wall. However, dont expect her to help you become better. When I told her I was having trouble with working because I have social anxiety, depression, amongst other things she told me I had to work as a waitress while I was in college. It wasnt my dream job, but I survived. Okay good for YOU. This is exactly what people with mental illnesses DONT need to hear. Lets put that in context of a physical disability. Someone cant walk so well because of a physical birth defect or they have Huntingtons disease. Oh I broke my ankle while playing soccer. I dont even like soccer, but I was able to survive. Look at me, Im walking! The same session, I told her some personal stuff (obviously) and she told me to GO WRITE ABOUT IT. Im an avid journaler and have wrote about what I was talking about many times over 15 years! I told Jenny this and she TOLD ME TO WRITE ABOUT IT. Jenny, go back to waitressing tables. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to become more depressed, feel like a bother, and get rude and degrading help. Thanks for making my serotonin go down, Jenny.
The worst. They do not ever return phone calls. Have left messages and spoke to receptionists on 4 different occasions over 2 weeks. Asked to Doctor return call. Still waiting after a month. Do not go there if you need help.
Worse place to get counciling for mental illness. The therapist I had made me feel so uncomfortable and it was just awkward.plus I just paid over $600 there and they said I never paid it.im taking them to court.
Terrible experience. Billed for more time than I was seen, lost appointments, billed months after visit...would not recommend.
Son saw a therapist here and was asked inappropriate questions, therapist used profane language and made inappropriate comments.
Have been helped tremendously by Compass for many years.
