I brought my Dell notebook in for what I thought was a bad keyboard. They kindly made an initial attempt at cleaning connections in order to save me money and time. It turned out that a new keyboard was needed. Once the ordered part arrived, the techs had it installed for me the next day. They also had set me up to be able to use the notebook in the mean time by using an external keyboard. I was very pleased with the work and the friendly, helpful attitude of the techs and the receptionist! I would recommend this place. Its definitely the best Ive found.

It took a while for the keyboard needed for my laptop to come in, but I doubt that was their fault. The price was more than fair and my keyboard has had no issues since the repair! I own a 16 MacBook Pro and Apple wanted to charge me the cost of the laptop itself to repair the keyboard.

I have a MacBook that had water spilled on it several years ago. It worked fine but would not charge the battery, it had to run on shore power. Apple wanted some ridiculous price close to ½ the cost of a new computer to send it in for repair. So, the computer was used only when plugged in. What a pain. Called Computer Repair of Des Moines and talked with Angela. She quoted a price over the phone for part and labor based on my description of the problem. When I took the computer in, I was given a website and number so I could check on the status online. I received a call from the technician the computer was fixed, just a corrosion problem, no parts required. He said he was only charging for the labor. I’m extremely happy and the computer works like new. They are very profession and did a great job. Thank You for the great service.

Really poor customer service at the front desk to help me try to locate a lost HD they were sending out of state. Weve never lost a hard drive before, sorry not our fault. On the other hand looks like I won the race to be their first!

The laptop problem was fixed, I had a quote for $257 from a store on Urbandale Ave but I thought he was closed so i took it to CR. The up front cost for the cleanup and service turned out to be over $300. But the problem is fixed. I wish they would have told me it needed a new battery. I found this out when I got it home and plugged in. I have ordered one. I am giving a 5 star review for them fixing the issue I went in with. And a 3 star for the price and battery issue. Average 4 which is still good.

They couldve kept the mm oney but since they didnt and refunded my money back the least I can do is give a great review and come back if I need anymore work done.

I would highly not recommend this business. I should have walked out after my first encounter with them. The gal at the front desk was less than engaging. Every time I was in or called, she acted as though I was a complete inconvenience in her day. I also saw her roll her eyes multiple times to customers calling in. When I stopped in around 1:30 pm one day, she insisted she was on lunch and couldnt/wouldnt help me so I had to wait for a tech.As for my computer, they werent able to fix or recover much of anything off of my laptop. They kept trying to sell me new hard drives and I felt like I never knew what it was all going to cost me in the end. On top of that, they were TERRIBLE at letting me know what was actually happening with my computer. I kept having to call in for a status update even though they said every time, they would call me and let me know what they were finding. I swear they didnt actually do anything except when I called and then gave me the we are still working on it even though it had been 2 weeks.Overall, I dont recommend them to others and I for sure wont be back.

One of their competitors kept changing their story on whether theyd be able to do contactless drop off / how long in advance I should call...whether I had to make an appointment or could walk in...and whether Id have to leave my laptop with them for one day, three days, or a couple of weeks.I decided it was way better to pay out of pocket, sight-unseen, for a new mac keyboard (failing butterfly keyboard) which involves replacing the entire top face. I paid for the part in advance, drove in when it arrived in the store, and they replaced it in under two hours while I waited in the car. Super efficient, and the replacement keyboard works great.

CR of DM repaired the right hinge on my HP Envy laptop. When the left side hinge had the same problem just a month or so later, they repaired that one too at no charge. They also repaired the flat screen warping that the bad hinges were causing.

I brought my laptop in for keyboard issues, when I used a portion of the keyboard it would type additional letters. I was concerned it was caused by water droplets as I had my laptop on the counter while doing dishes. Everything else about my laptop was working completely normal and I made sure to emphasize that I was not concerned for water damage to anything other than the keyboard. I was told they would take a look at the laptop and the keyboard and call me if any water damage was found. I received a call about 3-4 days later saying no water damage was found and that the keyboard was working normally. Confused as to why the keyboard was not working for me, but somehow started working normally again I inquired about this and was told maybe a couple of water droplets got in and caused the keyboard to short circuit but after a few days the water dried up and everything is now working again. At this time they recommend I replace my battery which I agree to. I pick up my laptop 2 days later. When I get home to use it, I am having the exact same issue with the keyboard as I was having when I first dropped it off. After checking to make sure exactly what keys were acting up the keyboard starts working normally, very strange? So I call the next morning and am told to give it some time and use it for a few hours to see if it stops working again, I’m told it’s most likely a bad keyboard or the first tech that worked on it did not put it back together correctly. I give it some time and it stops working after 2-3 hours. Frustrated I bring it back in and show the tech what’s not working. He tells me it’s a bad keyboard, brings out a keyboard, asks if I can leave it and he will replace it and I can pick it up tomorrow. I agree. That night I get a phone call saying my laptop is ready to pick up. I pick it up the next day and am told the keyboard was not replaced because the second tech that looked at it found some corrosion around the trackpad and keyboard connector, he told me “I don’t know how we missed that”. The laptop has been fine since being cleaned. I’m only giving 3 stars for the inconvenience of having to drive there an extra time and for wasting my time by picking the laptop up when it wasn’t working. Everyone was very friendly I just wish they had been more thorough when I first brought my computer in.

My 10 year old Mac was in need of some updating. After calling Apple support I was told my Mac was to OLD for the Apple store to fix it. So I called Computer Repair Des Moines and the receptionist was able to answer all my questions. They were able to get my Mac running like a new computer again very quickly and much less then the cost of a new one. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Excellent service and turnaround. Will definitely use and refer to others in the future when the need arises. They recently worked with me on a warranty claim to help me with an analysis documentation to submit to justify warranty coverage. Without their help I would not have been awarded full replacement value. They are great at what they do and always go out of their way to help a person’s needs. I took my beloved 9-year-old MacBook Pro in to Computer Repair of Des Moines because of a graphics issue. At first, the diagnosis was a faulty cable interface. That proved too easy and the LCD screen was replaced. That, too, was off the mark and the issue was still there. Stefan, however, was dogged in his tracking down of the problem. He finally landed on the graphics chip on the logic board. Unfortunately, while he was attempting to work on that chip, the logic board itself failed. That is a pretty expensive part, actually *the* most expensive part in any computer. Stefan called me up and told me flat out that it was probably his attempt to repair the graphics chip that had caused the failure of the logic board but not to worry: It would be replaced free of charge. And while he was in there, he replaced the battery which had swollen from lack of cycling (this laptop was almost always plugged in) and was encroaching on other sensitive parts, perhaps also causing damage to the logic board. This additional repair he did for the wholesale price of the battery, with no additional labor charges. So now I have basically a new laptop. I love Computer Repair of Des Moines’ shop of young, smart, capable technicians; but I love their honesty even more.

These guys were an amazing rescue team! I was on the edge of a digital disaster/crisis and in one day everything on the hard drive was saved. The drive had actually crashed but they manipulated it enough for the drive to give back all the data - decades of data! And they were fast. Could not be happier.

Took my laptop in mid-October to have the screen repaired because it had developed vertical lines in the display. Received a call about 4 days later to advise that they had determined that the screen could not be repaired, but would need to be replaced along with an estimate of what that would cost. Gave them the go ahead to fix. Replacement screen was ordered and replaced. Total time they had my laptop was approx. 2 weeks and all cost under $150. Would give them my business again.

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would, first is their non-refundable 85 dollar fee just to look at it, which is ridiculous. Then the blonde haired lady at the desk fails to tell me that it would be 7-8 days before they even get to look at it. Called to find out if they could service the keyboard on my MacBook. Instead, they let me know about a program that Apple has to do that service for free. This speaks to the integrity of the company, because they could have simply taken my money and done the work themselves, but they actually cared enough to let me know that I can get the work done for free. I did not use their service, but if I run into problems in the future I will most certainly do so, with full confidence in their commitment to the well-being of their customers.

Great experience. I had a shattered screen on my iPad. This was my first time using their service and it went well. I did have an issue after picking up the iPad the first time where the bottom half of the screen didnt work. I took it back and they resolved the issue without hassle and I picked it up the following day and its been working great ever since.

I drenched my macbook in lemonade, pretty much destroying it. I took it here and was completely astonished that they got it working as good as new-- for basically $1000 cheaper then it would have cost me at apple. It did take a couple weeks to fix; Im not sure if thats typical or if its just a bit longer for liquid damage. Overall though Im so happy and will be recommending this place to my friends & family.

The people were super helpful. Thought my issue was my video card or some other piece of hardware. Turns out it was my thermal paste. They replaced it, called me to let me know then ran a full computer check. Didnt cost anything more than the 85.00 deposit. They even carried my computer back out to my car. Will definitely come back if anything else goes wrong.

I was charged a fee to look at my laptop. $65 I think. I received a call one week later. I was told my motherboard was shot. I authorized the work and it was ready in less than a week. I was charged another $77 when I picked up my Dell. Its working great now.

Very satisfied and would recommend to anyone. We called and they came out to our office the next day. Told us they would have to order a part and that it would take a couple days to get it, we asked if we could pay for over night shipping and they ordered the part right away. Came out the next evening after we closed, and when we got to work the next morning it was as good as new! Guy they sent was very professional, and nice. We always seem to have something wrong with one of the computers, so we will definitely be calling them again!

Absolutely horrible. I paid $85 deposit to have the screen fixed. They said it will take about a week to get the part in. I said I need to use my computer during that week, they said ok we will call you when it comes in. I call a couple times over the next TWO MONTHS and no part. I call to cancel and get my deposit back, We dont return deposits.I should have known, since there is a shelf full of computers that, I dont know why some people never come back to get their computers.

My portable hard drive wasnt working. They found the bug and fixed it. The price I paid was lower than what I thought it would be. I now have made duplicate copies of the portable hard drive as a backup as I never want to experience the feeling of losing a lifetime (actually my lifetime and my parents lifetime) of photos, movies, and documents.

The service was fast,fairly priced, and well done. All of my questions were answered, and Bryce was extremely helpful when I called about separate issues caused by another company. All in all it was a very pleasant experience.

Just took a laptop in for repair, I needed to data recovered from harddrive that acted up when i tried to create a new partition. They explained to me they would either likely be able to fix the boot sectors or what have you on the hard drive so that it would load again, or recover the data and reinstall windows, either way, the price was to be $85.00. Long story short, they were unable to recover any data which can happen, but when i went to pick up the computer they refused to give me a refund or even reduce the cost since they were unsuccessful in restoring my drive or collecting the data off of it.So please understand, I know that not everything can be repaired or that not always can you recover lost data, and I am totally fine with that, I knew that when I took the computer to them. They never once explained to me that the money would be non refundable if they were not able to get the drive to some state that they data could be recovered. In fact, they were extremely confident that they had a couple ways to approach this type of problem and that one of them would work. So, therefore I did not even think to ask them about the what if you cant question.I called them today, to see if they would once again refund, or even consider a partial refund, since i ultimately received no beneficial results, they answer was a definitive NO.I look forward to seeing how they reply to this, and in the future, they could not be in this situation if they would have had me sign some type of paperwork or something that stated their policy if repairs were not possible. I signed nothing, paid up front as requested by them, and have nothing in return for it.I am sure they are capable of minor repairs, possibly, but If you have a serious issue, please consider where you shop, the professionalism and attention to detail of anyone you use, as not even explaining important business practices up front to a customer is a sure fire way to have someone upset, and that is exactly the position I am in now.

Same treatment so far with my second repair. He called me within 2 days and told me exactly what was wrong with it. I called him back with an authorization and hes working on it now. THANKS!

My computer was repaired quickly and effectively 2 weeks ago. It has worked OK since then. The charge seemed reasonable, but since I wasnt told what was fixed and what it took to do it, I cant say if it was priced fairly.
