Had A flat tire, I was able to drop it off late at night. I picked it up less than 24 hours later. The tire was defective, but I bought it right back, and they fixed it in less than an hour. Staff is super friendly and helpful

I was travelling home to Kentucky for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, 11/27/19. Late in the afternoon one of my tires started loosing air. I pulled into Pep Boys on McFarland Blvd. They found a cut in the inner sidewall. The tire needed to be replaced. Tim and his team were very kind and helpful. They quickly replaced the tire and had me back on the road in about 30 minutes. I am so thankful for their kindness and speedy assistance. I highly recommend this store to anyone living in Tuscaloosa.

On 12/1 I had a flat and went to Pet Boys to get it patched and an oil change. I was informed I needed a new tire. I paid and ordered it. Told it would be in on Wednesday. I called and the manager on duty on Wednesday 12/4 he had no clue about what I was talking about. They had my wheel. Couldnt locate it over the phone. I went to the location. He found it and told me my tire will be in by 5PM and I would get a call. No call. Just called the store 12/5 at 130 PM and was told a shipping delay is going to be later and I would get a call. Please. I will never use this place again.

I had a flat tire earlier, and where I was stranded on the side of the interstate for over 4 hours. Waited for a while on the tow truck to get to me— I worried I was not going to make it time to the shop before they closed. But once I got an official ETA on the tow truck, I quickly called up Pep Boys to see if it was possible to stay open a bit longer. They told me that they couldn’t promise me anything, but they would see what they could do.I finally arrive about 20 minutes after their closed time, and I mentioned that I had called earlier and if it was possible they could still help me. That was when they told me they stayed open just for me. I had never felt so relieved in my life!!They fixed my car as quickly as possible, and they generally cared about me and my wellbeing— as they made sure my car was good for the remainder of my trip.No idea where I would be sleeping tonight if it weren’t for Pep Boys! Thanks again guys, so so much!!

In town troubleshooting a plastic guard that was underneath my son’s 09 Toyota, broken, dragging the ground and making noise. Rolled in here on Sunday afternoon; Tim and his guy in the bay took care of us, removing the cracked plastic in no time flat! Appreciate the friendly courteous service. Car started acting funky 200 miles from home just south of Tuscaloosa. First limped into Mavis Tires, and they were less than enthused that I stopped. So, I got on my phone and found Pep Boys on McFarland. They (Tim at the front desk and the mechanics) knew I was an out-of-towner (reinforced by my Razorback t-shirt), but treated me with respect. They invested a couple of hours in my car, tested various components, and ultimately determined that it it was road worthy. They could have EASILY sold me a new alternator and / or battery, but did not do so. They didnt charge me a dime. And, they were right, as I type this after having arrived safely home.

Woke up with a flat from nails in my tire during a cross country move after taking a stop in Tuscaloosa. Tim was incredibly helpful and fit me in on a busy morning to get me back on the road. He went out of his way to see if a cheaper plug was possible for me and then gave me a few options for new tires. Great customer service and quick fix.

Very kind and helpful staff! My roommates car had an issue that needed immediate attention, but we had no way to get back to our apartment, so the staff was kind kind enough to offer to drive us back to our apartment (in her car, of course, for security purposes, as it was still drivable) and then come pick us up again so we wouldnt have to sit around while the issue was being repaired. This was most definitely not required of them, but we appreciated them going so much out of their way to help us out!

Tim is great! He is so nice and helpful and really makes sure you are taken care of. When I was shopping around for tires, his advice and taking the time to talk to me, and making sure I got the best deal and what I needed/wanted has kept me coming back to this location. Its Friday the 13th and I experienced my first flat tire EVER! It was after 5pm and I was freaking out because my emergency service said it would take two hours. Pep Boys closed at 7pm. I called State Farm back and they found me another tow that would pick me up around 7pm. I called PepBoys and they were so kind and reassured me they would wait! I made it by 6:55pm, and they greeted me with kindness. I should be back on the road and back to work. Thanks, PepBoys! I will be back for 3 more tires!

No longer a happy camper. Out of the 2 pep boys in Tuscaloosa the same problem keeps happening. This time I am extremely upset. I made an appointment for noon to have my oil changed. My truck didnt get taken until 1pm and they took walk ins ahead of my appointment and then when they did the oil change but did not rotate my tires as they had put on the receipt that they did not to mention they cleared the maintenance message out of my truck saying that they did the tire rotation. I called back to the store and spoke to someone and he said that the tire rotation is just something that they offer but it doesnt have to be done. If you cleared out the message saying that it needed to be done...printed it on my receipt that it was done ..why did you not do it? This makes me mad as hell because I trusted my vehicle to you. If I didnt know I had tire on my truck that was a different color and knew which tire it was on then I would be thinking that everything that was on the receipt was done. If I wanted just an oil change I could have spent 30.00 less than what I spent here and took it to one of the drive thru quick service places. Burn me once shame on you...but this is the 2nd time that this has happened.

So I had went to Walmart to get a battery and for them to put in and, all of Walmart workers had clocked out and went home so. I got my battery that I have purchased from Walmart and I took it to Pep Boys on McFarland and, they put it in for me they did an awesome job They were very respectful and understanding. ”They All Need A Pay Raise”!

Excellent customer service!!!! I came into Pep Boys today for a front end alignment on my freshly lifted Silverado. The shop didnt have the equipment to provide the correct alignment I needed and instead of just wasting my money the mechanics walked me through step by step of why there would be no reason to just waste my money with there services and still not get the job done. Long story short, you just cant get great honest customer service like that anymore.

I have a Lincoln MKS with a hard to fit tire. I called almost everyone in Tuscaloosa, and Tim here at Pep Boys was quick to help me. He had the tire, got me in quickly and back on the road to Texas. He was friendly and empathetic in a stressful situation.

In the past 2 months my experience with this place has been progressively worse. It started with the AC, then the radiator, and then finally both. Its cost me about a grand at this point but its not the constant reoccurring car problems that I am so upset about. What bothers me the most is the manner in which they handle their business.It is the lying. They may tell you the service will take 1 hour. You make plans. You come back to get dropped off after an hour. You are told to wait a bit longer. The time passes and next thing you know you have spent 4 hours waiting in the lobby. If the job is going to take you 4 hours then tell me 4 hours. If you dont know how long it will take then tell me. Dont tell me 1 hour here and 45 minutes there just to string me along and ruin my entire day.This has happened to me twice now.I am NEVER coming back to this place again.UPDATE: I spend $170 yesterday for the engine overheating and the AC going out. Today both issues are still occurring. You can bet that Im going to another location to inspect my vehicle.

Took my moms car there to get 4 new tires. The tech that installed the tire messed up the installation on not on1, but all four valve stems. They leaked from the base (not the valve) so Im pretty sure the problem was the installation not a defective valve.Unfortunately I did not realize this before we started out to Georgia that afternoon. One went completely flat over the Coosa river bridge. Got the tire changed (after a $75 wrecker call) and got to our destination. Then noticed that the other rear tire was low, An hour later, the front tires were low. Managed to limp back home, stopping to fill up the tires every hour or so. Took car to another Pep Boys in Georgia and they got them fixed the next day.I cant imaging that installing valve stems is that hard! At least their work was consistent....Lesson learned here is to check the valve stems for leaks after getting new tires by pushing them side to side listening for leaks.

Just wanna say if you ever stuck in Tuscaloosa the pep boys on McFarland and Skyland is where you wanna go. Im from Texas and had a blowout last night on my way back to work. Had my vehicle towed to Pep Boys and had to walk to Pep Boys. Well walked to the wrong one and a very cool guy by the name of Tim offered me a ride to the other Pep Boys then gave me a ride to my hotel. What a class act!! Customer service second to none. Thank you buddy I really appreciate that! Then I wanna say thank you to Oeadem I believe his name is. Hope I spelled that correctly, he checked up on me all morning called me 3 or 4 times to get me the tires I needed the same day. He first said it would take a few days to get the tires I wanted and I let him know I had to be at work tomorrow not sure what he did but hes gon a have tires there today and installed with alignment and balanced. We dont get that kind of customer service back in Texas Made my day! You guys are awesome! Cant thank you enough!!

They have some of the best prices in town, but you get what you pay for. Theres one worker, Tom, that is a great Pep Boys representative, always polite and handling any problems. But the rest of the staff I have met here is disappointing, seem to not fully know what they are doing, making many small incompetent mistakes. Got 4 tires replaced and one wheels tires werent tightened, they payed for the repair costs though after the loose tire cause damaged. Second experience, I called in and got a 45 minute estimation. Brought it straight in and they did not start on my vehicle for 4 hours only to tell me they couldnt do it. If I would have known this I would have taken it elsewhere. I will probably not be going here anymore

Was on my way to Trussville for Christmas and stopped inn Tuscaloosa to eat with my brother in law. Unfortunately somewhere on our way from Mississippi something hit my radiator and left a little pin sized hole leaking coolant. Called several shops in town and was told no one would be able to work on my car that day including this pep boys. Luckily my brother in law called this same pep boys and was told they could see him right away. When I arrived three of the employees were sitting in the lobby watching tv and no other customers were there. So why was I told they wouldnt be able to see my car that day over the phone? 3 stars because the work was actually done and by that night I was on my way. It did take 5 hours and I was totally price gouged but I was stuck... had to be done and they knew it. I dont live in Tuscaloosa but if I did I would never go back here by choice.

Kept my appointment time and did a good job

During my recent visit to this Pep Boys location, Joe, a very experienced master mechanic, worked his tail off for hours on end trying to correctly diagnose my troubled f250 5.4 super duty. To make a very complicated story short.. Joe, the manager, and a younger mechanic who polished off an entire pot of coffee in no time flat were all extremely helpful and determined to solve the issue which was not a very obvious one. I spent an evening and the better part of the next day there while they poured over the possibilities of an end result. They finally located and fixed my problem, thanks to the younger one who was so jacked up on coffee, he decided to do some random tapping on relays in the fuse box only to discover one to be loose. What a solid testimony for friendly service, good mechanicn, and caffeine! Thanks for your help guys... I made it home safe!

Although the staff were friendly, the service representatives promised a rebate on a non-compliant tire, convincing me to buy a more expensive set.The installation service itself was satisfactory, efficient though nothing spectacular. My wait was neither unusually long nor short, and my vehicle was returned exactly as rendered - nothing missing nor added sans the tires. No cleaning, no courtesy checks, but an efficient and professional job nonetheless.When they finished my installation, the service reps handed me a rebate form and sent me on my way, uncaring or oblivious to the fact that the promised rebate did not in fact exist.When a miscommunication occurred after installation, a part appeared to be missing. The manager personally took charge, viewed the CCTV, and checked the store top to bottom with me. I have no complaints with the management, who were nothing but pleasant and professional - my only problem is with the three men who misled me about the rebate.

UPDATE: Next issue: my FRONT drivers side brake caliper seized. I had to take the jeep BACK again. I have had to take the Jeep there, counting the initial job to do the brakes jobs (2x, back then front), and then all the times Ive had to bring it back to fix probably equals about 6x now.Tidbit: Since the very beginning of getting my brakes done, Ive had to take this Jeep back in because of noises; squealing and squeaking. I was told that the rotors I bought would eliminate the noises associated with brake pads/rotors. So I paid the cost extra for rotors that do not make noises (ceramic). When I FIRST took it back, after getting my BACK brakes done (and before the caliper fell off), they said the squealing was actually coming from the front brakes, so thats why I my front brakes done.Ive had to take my Jeep back there several times to see why squealing noises were still there! One of the times they completely replaced everything including the calipers.The LATEST ISSUE: Ive taken my Jeep to this location AGAIN, and was told that the brakes would be COMPLETELY inspected; taking all the tires, brake pads & rotors off, and then putting everything back on.When I called and talked to the service manager, Courtny, he told me that he could hear the sound when he pulled the Jeep in, but he couldnt hear it after their inspection.When I drove the Jeep home (after they had it for 3 days) I could still hear the noise!!! Its worse. Upon inspection OURSELVES, we found that the brake pad retaining clips were all but two, non-existent on the back brakes pads.INITIAL REVIEW IN 2018: will never go back here again. Had my front brakes done and had asked to have my tires rotated. When I got home my husband said they did not rotate the tires, so we went back and had them rotated.Two weeks go by -- the front passenger brake caliper literally FELL OFF the wheel on my way home from work!! When we called, my husband spent 40 minutes on the phone with them and then we waited over two hours for the tow truck.I called the next day, mid morning, to find out the status and they said, our mechanic is not in today, but youll be first priority tomorrow. Say what?! I said in response that I do not want the guy who did my brakes fixing it. They had another mechanic from another location fix it.When I picked up my vehicle they told me that since it wasnt my fault there was no charge on fixing it. Ya think?Tim, the manager, would not compensate in any other way. A complaint has been made with corporate. I could have lost my life or killed someone else since I drove over an hour on the interstate that particular morning!! Once that caliper fell off, I lost my braking ability.I think fixing it at no charge is an obvious expectation. But to say that you will not do anything else, that youve already went above and beyond is total BS so the results are not only a corporate complaint, but a review on any platform I can. And who knows what else at this point because Im highly upset with how they handled this.

WARNING.......My daughter is a UA student who took her car here with a dead battery. They charged her $200.00 for a battery she could have purchased most other places for $110.00. They saw her coming and took advantage of a university student who doesnt know anything about cars. Her mistake was trusting these people.

I cannot say enough positive about my recent experience with this Pepboys location. While traveling and far away from home and my tools I experienced multiple problems at once with my car. I was lucky enough to limp the car to Pepboys and despite it being a Sunday afternoon, they were not only open but willing to bend over backwards to give me the help I so desperately needed. Some folks feel like shops try to push unnecessary repairs and charges. Not only did I NOT experience this, but they went out of their way to avoid unnecessary expenses and above and beyond in their efforts ! Great service for the right price in a timely manner

Those negative reviews just dont make sense. Let me tell my story.Yesterday I was making a long drive from Livingston, Louisiana to Nashville. In Livingston, Alabama I had a tire failure, so I pulled over, installed my full size spare and drove to the nearest service station to check tire pressures and make a few phone calls.Upon calling Pep Boys on McFarland I found they had the exact tires I needed and that they could schedule an appointment for me in one hour. I arrived a few minutes late and they immediately took me in and started to inspect my vehicle.Before installing the new tires, they found quality issues with two of the new tires which was possibly due to poor storage. One of their guys quickly hopped in a truck and made a 44 mile drive to another store to pickup the necessary tires. I would have expected them or any other store to just apologize and say they could have the tires the next day.Instead, they went above and beyond by making an emergency run to get the tires I needed. They could have lied and installed the damaged tires as well, but they didnt do that. They went above and beyond.I was back on the road as soon as possibly and I made it to my destination on time. Thanks guys! You are the best!Oh, and one last comment. My car is a 1983 Delorean. Needless to say, I am a little picky about things such as tire pressure, torque specs, and of course driving my vehicle. I went over all of my requirements with them and they were extremely professional about meeting my needs.Hopefully I will never have another tire failure on the road but I would never hesitate to stop at this shop if anything like this were to happen again near Tuscaloosa.Tires are not something to go cheap on. You should never drive on questionable tires. Tire failure can be a life threatening thing. Pepboys probably didnt want to band-aid the college students tires for fear of getting sued should something fail. A tire costs $100. Your life is worth far more.Edit on 9-25-2017I lost my receipt and needed it to get my tires balanced at another Pep Boys. I live in Louisiana and am obviously very far from location. I called the store up and the person I spoke with was very helpful in getting me a copy of the original receipt. I just wanted to add to my review that the people here are super nice and very professional. Thanks again.

Warning.... I took three of my vehilces to the Big Ten Tires in Tuscaloosa, AL and I was not pleased. They were not professional when dealing with customers in a timely manner. I was told my vehicles would be ready at a certain time and none of them were ready until a day later! I had to call someone to come pick me and my one year old child up due to them telling me it would be ready before the end of the day and it was not metioned until close of business that not even one vehicle wouldnt be. They broke parts on my Lexus due to them not being able to get the part off so I had to order another part from Lexus and they didnt even apologize or offer to get a part for me. I will never bring a vehicle back to this establishment ever again.
