We brought our own bikes to town but my wife’s bike wasn’t shifting right or holding the chain well. We found help here almost immediately and we were treated quite well.

Super cool Bike Shop and Rental was very easy!! The young man helped us with the different routes we could take and explained the Bike and Features perfectly. All 3 bike shops are side by side on that corner. We did the $80 3 hr rental and it was well enough.

Friendly mechanic and staff. They were able to help me fix my bike and get back on the road for a very fair price.

Any time I’ve had an issue with my bike, they get me right in and fix the problem immediately. After experiencing a complete lack of customer service at Brick Wheels, my daughter and I walked across the parking lot to McLain. Instantly, upon entering, Wyatt greeted us and quickly hooked us up with two comfortable rental bikes, along with a lock. Although Wyatt was young, he was courteous and professional. The adults at Brick Wheels could take a lesson from Wyatt.

UPDATE - my bike was repaired at the 8th Street shop, as I dropped it off before closing and picked it up the next day — not sure why they think it was repaired in Cadillac ...

We went to rent bikes (it was the cheapest we could find, 25$ for 24 hours) and it was some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. The lady who helped us was so knowledgeable about bike routes and kind to boot. She gave us some wonderful recommendations and set us up with our bikes. Unfortunately it started to rain--hard--a half hour into our rental and, when we had to go back, they: COMPLETELY refunded us our money, were sympathetic that we couldnt enjoy the day, and let us hang around the shop until our ride arrived. We discussed bikes and everyone seemed very knowledgeable about their trade. I would recommend them to anyone and I hope you can give them some good business.

Weve been McLain customers for over 15 years, having purchased all of our bikes there (several new, one used). The service, knowledge level, and parts availability is unsurpassed. Even though one was purchased used, their free annual tune-up for lifetime applies. Ive had a few custom requests for my hybrid over the last few years, and they always have fantastic solutions for a very fair price. I cant think of one year that they didnt have the service work done earlier than the promised date, and thats a lot of years. Their trade-up program for childrens bikes is awesome! My little boy gets a new bike every other year for next to nothing, and Bob makes sure that the previous bike gets put to good use in the community. Ive had nothing but positive experiences with the equipment and the people, and Bobs work in the community should never go unnoticed. Be sure to get your next bike at McLain!

Im from Grand Rapids. Brought my Cannondale up for rides while at Torch Lake vacationing. Well on Tuesday, first ride my crank somehow broke off.....no more pedaling. I needed a bike for riding this week as people were coming with their wheels. I called McClains Bike shop in TC and talked with Nate. He said bring it down and theyd jump all over it. I arrived mid afternoon, they had customers all over the place and in the service department. They still greeted me in a timely fashioned, remembered I called and squeezed it right in. Told me itd take 15-20 minutes to fix. We left for some liquid refreshments, came back in 45minutes and it was waiting for me at the door. Very, very reasonable price and I was back in business. Thanks to all the good folks at McClains.......try the place you will not be disappointed. I will always recommend McClains.

I bought some Specialized shoes and clips from McLain Cycle a few days ago. After installing them at home, I couldnt get them to work (first time clip-in-shoe user). I called the store to see if I could stop by around 6:00pm to get the pedals and clips sized correctly. They were very helpful. They stayed a few minutes after closing just to make sure I was taken care of. It was much appreciated.

Our family stayed in Traverse City for a week. Two of my grandchildren didn’t have bicycles, so I rented two from Mclain’s on 8th St. The reservation process was simple, as was pickup. Both employees we encountered were extremely friendly and courteous. One even put the bikes on the rack and secured them for us.As for the bikes, they were in excellent shape, and a great brand. The kids loved them more than their own bikes! We decided to extend the rental for one more day. A call handled it all. If we ever need another rental “Up North”, we will rent again from Mclain’s.

Dropped my bike off from the competitor across the parking lot, where they gave me a price for a tune up half the cost of my bike !!! So I drove across the lot, a d talked to Nick, he was very very easy to work with, for a third the price !! Will go there again for any of my cycle and fitness needs ...
