One of the best decisions we have made for the growth of our five year old son is getting him involved with Open Mat. Although at first we were hesitant it took absolutely no time for our young son to feel comfortable and involved. The whole experience has been wonderful and our son very much enjoys his classes daily. The other students are so sweet and it truly feels like a family environment where everyone helps and looks out for each other while working hard. We really appreciate the details and expertise the coaches put into the students as well as the discipline and patience. Open mat has really helped our sons growth and we are so thankful to have found this goldmine in Tracy. 10/10 highly recommend.

Since I started at open mat academy, my life has changed in a great way. I am gaining knowledge by the best in the area. Everyone at the academy is very dedicated to teaching the students the way of martial arts. I was very comfortable when I started and still am due to the fact that all the instructors take time to teach everyone great details to be successful. It is not just an amazing training center but a family that works to be the best in the state!

I brought my kids to open mat to teach them self-defense but they learned so much more like respect! The facility was very clean and the staff was very nice and professional! Chris (owner) is very professional and very knowledgeable about his craft and his passion radiates off him. Brandon (instructor) is also very knowledgeable and GREAT with the kids! He is able to teach the kids at their level and ends every class with a fun game which all the kids enjoy! I high recommend Open Mat for all ages, I promise you won’t be disappointed!!

My wife and I were visiting her family near Tracy and wanted to check out a class while here as we train in Orlando. My wife called and asked about classes, and we were welcomed to come and train. Chris, Brandon, and their dad were extremely professional and kind. They are very knowledgeable and even though we were only there for two classes, they helped us a lot. They embodied respect, and we could not recommend their gym enough. The individuals that train there as well were just as welcoming and helpful. If you live in the Tracy area, and are interested in learning and training Jiu Jitsu, go check them out.

I really love open mat academy because the team is very family oriented and family friendly. Plus they offer everything from Black Belt Gracie Certified Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, excellent programs of kids and adults, boxing, and traditional martial arts. The prices are fair and they have deals for multiple students and family plans. Check them out online, they offer a free class so you can try it so there is really nothing to lose and everything to gain.

This gym has been so good to us. My husband and niece train here and have learned a lot from the instructors. They are very welcoming and knowledgeable in their craft. Great with kids and adults. The boxing is also very good alongside the wrestling and jiu jitsu for all ages!!

Went to another place and wasn’t impressed I was hesitant but tried open mat expecting more of the same I ended up signing up that day and haven’t regretted it. It’s a family run place and it really shows. You walk in and feel welcome by everyone. The coaches are amazing and will take the time out to make you understand how and why something worked or didn’t. After my dads passing I was pretty upset all the time except when I was in the gym with the team they would have me laughing and joking within 5 minutes every time. Open Mat Academy is IBJJF certified with a family welcoming mentality. I started JiuJitsu with the Cardona’s about 6 years ago and now I have my little brothers enrolled in the classes too (we love the safe environment). Great place. Best gym in Tracy, they have multiple activities for kids and adults. The instructors know how to communicate with everyone and help everyone out. They have Wrestling coaches which is rare and have jiu-jitsu everyday of the week.
