I bought my 2018 Tucson from Torrington Hyundai today. All I can say is what a GREAT group of people. This is my first experience ever purchasing a car from a certified dealership. From the second I called inquiring about the vehicle, I was treated with kindness, patience, and respect. I never once felt like I was being sold or pushed into the sale. I worked with Mike Haas in sales. He made me feel comfortable, was very down to earth and professional. He was knowledgeable about the vehicle and answered any questions I had. Gary and Bill conducted the financial part of the purchase. They were also extremely knowledgeable, down to earth and this was the first time I wasn’t embarrassed or had been made to feel bad about my less than perfect credit. They worked with several financial institutions to find me the best rates so I could walk out of the dealership with a car I deserved and a car I could AFFORD!!!! I would recommend going to this dealership to anyone who wants to get a great car, not be pushed into a sale, and interact with some really genuine and great people.

Bought a used Lexus IS250 from this dealer, which was an hour ride from our home. The salesman was great to deal with. However, the car had some simple issues to resolve:-The headlight bulbs were incorrect and aimed incorrectly due to the motor within the light defective[these aim with the steering] so it was difficult to see as 1 was aimed far to the right.-One of the original headlights was cracked, and they were both very yellowed, making night driving tough.-The car needed a wheel alignment, which after returning it there 3 times, we decided to go to our shop who got it right the first time, at our expense.-The car came with only 1 key. This is a programmable key, and they would not provide a second one.I sold cars for a decade, and these issues should have been easily resolved. They replaced 1 of the headlights, and both bulbs. However, the other headlight has remained yellowed and is dangerous for night driving. We also had to get the lights adjusted at our expense at our mechanic who was more familiar with the aiming of the lights.I tried to contact the dealer to see if we can get the final items resolved, but they do not return calls. Maybe I am calling the wrong person?BTW, the car was purchased by my fiance. Look under F.J. Hatcher, April 2019. I also attached a couple of fotos of the headlights so you can see how yellowed the drivers side is.

Was looking to upgrade out of my current lease into something more suitable for my needs at this time. I called on a Tuesday, and had a test drive set up for Wednesday morning. Although the car I originally looked at online had been sold, I fell in love with the other one on the lot when I got to see it in person. I dealt with Mike Haas from the initial call throughout the buying process, and he did a great job helping me get into exactly what I wanted while meeting all my wants on my check list.

My transmission went on my 2013 veloster. They helped me diagnose the issue and had it repaired within three days of dropping it off. However since then the engine light has reappeared and begun blinking on occasion. I am going to rent a computer and dx the engine codes and then bring it back up

The Team was absolutely amazing! I was a walk-in and not only did I drive off lot in my dream vehicle, they fixed all the little issues (wipers etc) and did this all between 9am and 3pm! Thanks Dan, Mike, The Service area and the whole team including Bowser for the puppy cuddles. 10/10 recommend.

I went to Torrington Hyundai looking for a specific car. A Kona SEL. Mike Haas welcomed me at the door as I walked in, I showed him the picture of the car and he immediately knew what car I was talking about. Went and grabbed it and off I went on my test drive. Fell in love with the car and wanted to walk out the door with it. He worked with me to get a good trade in my car and he and their financial advisor did all they could to get me a good interest rated loan and to keep my payments under my budget. Its been a few days since I walked out with a new car and I could not be happier with not only the car but the great customer service. It was a great experience. I highly recommend Torrington Hyundai and ask for Mike Haas, he was GREAT!! Thank you!!

I’m very disappointed right now. There is a well known oil consumption issue involving Tucson’s and ours is no exception. We brought our vehicle to Steven in service who has been nothing but helpful in the process and we were told after 4 visits and months later and replacing the catalytic converter that was plugged due to this oil issue, that Hyundai would replace our engine at no cost.Fast forward to yesterday and all of a sudden Hyundai changes their policy “one day” before our scheduled LAST of the 3000 mile test where then we’d start the process of getting a new engine.Instead, I’m left with a very bad taste in my mouth due to the fact of the policy change now makes the customer pay out of pocket almost $500 to do a “decarbon” test that isn’t guaranteed to work. I was told they’ve done it on ONE CAR at this dealership so how do you really know if it works? this is awful handling of this situation and I feel like our time was wasted and now money that I don’t have to spend on this when it was supposed to be done at no cost. Who can help me here? I feel as if as soon as we reach the end zone after months of working with you, you move the goalposts. I really hope someone reaches out to make this right.REVISED AFTER OWNER OF DEALERSHIP RESPONSE:Jon, I appreciate the response, but our vehicle has been serviced by your dealership (which is how we found out about the oil consumption problem to begin with).We had power failure issues and your technicians diagnosed a plugged catalytic converter which is covered under Hyundai’s factory warranty and was replaced free of charge. From my understanding, where a customer purchases a vehicle does not matter if vehicle issues fall under factory warranty, that should be able to be worked on by any Hyundai dealership correct?My wife works in health care and this vehicle is her only mode of transportation, so her having to schedule all of these oil tests month after month, and twice turned away because your shop was very busy, has been very difficult on her schedule to provide for the people during these times, and now being told she won’t be getting a new engine after all, we are very disappointed because we feel mislead, that is all. Very disappointing experience. Boyfriend had been looking for vehicle; knew exactly what we wanted and found what should have been the right vehicle here. We were driving in from out of state (5+hrs) to come test drive vehicle, and because of this we communicated very clearly when we were to arrive and what our expectations where when we got there. We had also asked for any exterior/interior damage to be photographed and sent to us prior (ie. picture of front and rear bumper detail shots etc...)When we got there, the guy we had been talking with was not there; and the car was not ready to be taken out. Someone else there managed to finally get us the keys so we could take it out. Upon looking it over there were several exterior scratches that were not difficult to miss and should have been sent to us ahead of time. Once we finally got into the car it became clear very quickly that the vehicle was having transmission issues. Obviously this is not what we had been assured was a great turn key vehicle. Especially for a $26,500 car.We also knew that they had a second vehicle in stock or same make to what we were looking at; we asked if we could test drive that, turns out the owner currently had it out so we couldn’t look at that either “we swear he’ll only be 5-10 more minutes”.To top it all off once we did finally get back to the dealer after the test drive the guy who we were supposed to be working with didn’t even bother to stand up and introduce himself.Frankly the inside to the place was abysmal, and they seemed incredibly disorganized. This was made far more apparent when we ended up finding the exact car we wanted 20min down the street; called the new dealer before we headed there to request the test drive and when we got there the car was clean and parked out front waiting for us and our sales men promptly came out and greeted us. We ended up buying the vehicle from the other location.

If you’re looking at a car at this dealership (especially if you live out of state) DO NOT. What an absolute headache it’s been dealing with this dealership.I drove down 2+ hours to look at a vehicle, when I go on the test drive check engine light is on. Bring it back, explain it to them. They say they’ll fix it but then tell me I have to drive back to pick it up. Eventually they settled on meeting me halfway (still not enough in my opinion). After waiting multiple days to finally take delivery of this vehicle after they reschedule twice I finally go down and meet my salesperson (Steve). Everything’s fine until about 12 hours after I purchase my vehicle and my shark fin antenna flies off my car while I’m driving.Not even a day of owning this vehicle somethings already wrong. Takes over a day to hear back from the salesperson only for him to tell me they can’t cover it because they cannot prove it was stolen off my car. What a load of BS. Steve said he’ll look into it more and ask the service manager for an answer. Well that was over a week ago and they’ve resorted to ignoring me.They pretend to care about your service until you sign on the line then it’s not their problem anymore.If you have any other choice go to ANY other dealership. This place is one big headache.

Just purchased 2020 Hyundai Elantra from Torrington Hyundai and had an issue with setting up the blue link service. Was unable to set it up since someone in the dealership was using this car and the service for 13 months. Therefore, I was only able to get service for 2 years instead of the 3 years that Hyundai provides. Called the owner of Torrington Hyundai, Jon Alfaro and he said would call me back and I have yet to hear from him. Dan, the salesman’s who sold the car also had not responded to my calls or emails. Very unhappy with the customer service.

After leaving another Hyundai dealership extremely disappointed, I found a car online at the Torrington dealership that really caught my eye. I ended up working with Gary S. and was extremely happy with how everything turned out. I had a few questions about the car and he was more than willing to get all my answers answered. The day I picked the car up I did have to wait a little over an hour to sign all the paperwork but everyone there was very nice about it and apologized many times for the wait. The sales manager was also great to work with and made the paperwork process very quick and easy despite the long wait and them having already closed. I appreciate that everyone went above and beyond. I never once felt pressured or uncomfortable. I highly recommend!

Terrible experience here today. Was mis lead by the sales associate steve smith. We were told that said “FU” on the door would be fixed and cleaned before we left. He made it seem like an easy fix before we left. Later on he said the door needed to be painted and could not leave today. We brought the car to the mechanic across the street and the timing cover was leaking. The manager would not negotiate and take anything off for that. The manager was also very rude while speaking with me. Do not go here!! VERY MISLEADING!

We couldnt be happier with the excellent service and work completed by Dave and his crew in your Body Shop. Our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sportreceived extensive damage from a rear end collision. Dave provided a loner vehicle and fielded numerous calls from insurance companies saving us much additional anguish. Our car was thoroughly cleaned and returned in better than new condition. You know, Mr, Alfano, this morning I just finished completing another survey from Torrington Hyundai that was sent to me. I gave a 10 in that one.This first one I completed was lengthy and I think my frame of mind that morning while I was filling it out, was different than it was this morning. The only issue I had was that the vin number which I was charged for, was not on the windows. I noticed this after I was already home with the car after purchase. I called, brought the car back and it was done. That was the only negative, if it can even be called that. More like human error. Thats all. Humans are not perfect. Me included!

I wish I could say that my first experience as a Hyundai owner has been a good one, but unfortunately it has not.I purchased a brand new 2018 Tucson from Torrington Hyundai in June 2018, my car has about 35,000 miles on it and 100,000 mile warranty.At around 20,000 miles, I had to replace my tires, upon asking why my tires would loose tread so quickly I was told it was because factory tires were made with a softer rubber.Then, a couple months ago, I brought my car back to Torrington Hyundai because I noticed that there were random spots across my hood (and now also on the rails above my doors) where the paint was peeling down to the metal.I explained to both the Auto Body and Service Managers that I do not have a garage and therefore park outside. There are two other vehicles that park on either side of me and before the Hyundai I owned a Honda that I parked in the same spot for four years and none of those vehicles have/had issues with their paint.Both gentlemen told me they were certain this issue was not a defect and that it would not be covered under the paint warranty on the car. They said, to them it looked as though it was coming from an outside source, although, when asked, they couldnt give me any ideas of what this outside source could be.I told them I wash my car regularly and again brought up the case of the other vehicles parked in the same spot, but it did not seem to make a difference. They said they would take photos of the issue and submit a claim but made it very clear that they believed it highly unlikely that it would be approved.One more in-person visit and three phone calls later I finally heard back from them about a month after they submitted the claim and was told it was denied.Frustrated with the situation I decided to contact Hyundais corporate office and file a complaint/claim with them. After they made me call every Hyundai dealer in the state of CT to try and find another with a body shop they finally gave me a case number and claims adjuster.Upon being contacted by the claims adjuster she asked me a few questions and then called Torrington Hyundai to find out why the claim was denied. When she contacted me again, she said that Torrington Hyundai had submitted the claim making note that they believed the issue was caused by an outside source and that corporate agreed and nothing more could be done.Very disappointed I then wrote an email to the owner of Torrington Hyundai to which I never received a reply. This whole situation has been disheartening to say the least! You would think that as a local dealer Torrington Hyundai would be more apt to help their customer fight against corporate and help them resolve a situation instead of making it so they are left paying for a two year old car that they now have to have repainted.I felt as though they wrote me off as soon as they saw me and part of me cant help but wonder if they would have treated my husband the same way had he been the one to deal with them.I will never buy another Hyundai again nor will I ever purchase another car from Torrington Hyundai as its evident that neither care about their customers.

Back in August, we were in the market for a Subaru and found a beautiful pre-owned Outback at Torrington Hyundai. We negotiated over email and with little effort, we arrived at an equitable deal. All we had to do was head to the dealership and take care of the transaction. Our sales person, Josh, was extremely helpful and navigated the process with ease.We opted to have the Torrington team provide DMV services for us as we are out-of-staters. Long story short, Covid had wreaked havoc on CTDMV. The Torrington team shared that we were not the only people stuck this issue. They kept us informed and yesterday on 2/8/21 we received our plates and registration.Regardless of what service industry youre in, there are going to some problems. Its how you handle those problems that makes the difference between a negative experience and positive experience. This team is solid. Thanks Josh!

The car buying experience was fine. I didn’t need to be sold on anything because I knew exactly what I wanted prior to going to the dealership.The reason for the poor review is to make people aware of the aftermarket insurance that is sold on used cars. I paid an extra 2,000.00 because I was buying a used car and got extra insurance to cover the drive terrain (engine, transmission, ie the big parts). Now that I have transmission problems and need a new cylinoid, I am told that insurance will not cover it due to it not being one of the parts within the transmission that is covered.The insurance is sketchy and will do anything to not have to pay. I thought a $100 deductible was too good to be true, and it was..... save yourself the headache and empty wallet unlike myself.***DO NOT BUY EXTRA INSURANCE ON USED CARS FROM HERE***

So impressed with this dealershipI met with Jim Kloczko on October 21 to test drive the new Hyundai Palisade and found him to be:Very knowledgeable about this vehicle. This particular SUV has so many safety features and Jim was able to explain all of them without having to refer to his computer!He took me for a test drive; not just around the corner but on the highway too! I really got a chance to see how this SUV drove.I was very impressed with Jim as a salesman too. He was NOT your typical pushy salesman. After the test drive we went back to the showroom. We talked a bit and that was it. NO PRESSURE!!!! He followed up with a thank you email. Again no pressure to buy! If I had to rate him as a salesman, l would give him 5 stars (highest score)!! Wish I could give my experience 5 stars, but sadly I can’t. I had an absolutely wonderful experience with our sales guy Josh. When you sit down with Josh you want to buy a car just because of how polite, honest, and how extremely wonderful of a person he is and could rave about him for days. I never worked with the other sales men on the floor, but had minor interactions with them and they were all extremely, nice, well mannered, and attentive and positively a joy. The sales men here are definitely very honest straightforward and extremely good at what they do compared to a lot of other dealers. They also definitely have the lowest prices around and work to get you the best deal that they can. I had gone on a Monday and put a small deposit down to hold on the Hyundai Tucson that I had wanted to purchase, took photos and everything that day with not a single scrape or bump on the front. I came back the next week on that Friday to pick the car because it would be ready, only to find marks all over the front bumper. They attempted to fix it on the spot and actually had done a pretty rough job to which we were even more upset about. We had worked out that it would be fixed since it had been caused in that week and a half after I put a small deposit down at the dealership. (side note: i want to say it was late on a Friday right before closing, so they did do the best job they could with the staff that was there. We ended up getting the front bumper fixed the following week after we signed all the paperwork by the same body shop and they did an incredible job and they were incredibly nice and just all around amazing.) Even after that I would have still recommended this dealership and given them 5 stars. My only issue was with Mike. The following day after signing the paperwork and putting my down payment we realized that an extended warranty service we had voluntarily signed up for was actually not necessary and was within my right to cancel. We sent an email saying hey we would like to cancel it. Now I was at work and asked my father who had the day off to just send the email quickly for me in my place. Mike did not call me, instead swiftly called my father. Mike was very abrasive, my family could hear him on the phone expressing his anger towards my father that it was inconvenient to him, us canceling this policy and that he had to fix the front bumper and how us signing up for the extra policy was the only reason he agreed to fix the bumper in the first place, which had been damaged at the dealership. My father told him that if he didn’t want to fix the bumper then we wanted it in writing and to send an email, he quickly changed his tone and we never received an email and the body shop still was planning to fix it. He told us that he would need the account number for my loan once it came thru. Now the bumper has been fixed and I received the paperwork with my account number for the car loan. I sent an email on Sunday with the number and such and asked for them to respond with a confirmation the email was received. Now it is Wednesday I just called the dealership because I have received no confirmation and left my number and name to which I have received no call back from anyone. I also have now sent a second email just asking for confirmation in BIG BOLD LETTERING to hopefully get some sort of response. So would I recommend this dealership, yes I would, but I wish I had a better experience because they definitely offer superior service compared to other dealerships.Update: I ended up giving them another star because Jon Alfano is extremely polite. He is on top of anything that would make your time less then perfect. I would recommend this dealership to everyone. He offers superior service compared to other dealerships.

Had a great experience purchasing a used vehicle from Torrington Hyundai! The entire process was incredibly smooth, and they were quick to price match to ensure I got exactly what I was looking for. A family run business trying to do right for themselves as well as the customer made for an honest car shopping experience.I worked with Dan, and I really appreciated how he made the whole process relaxed through casual but focused conversation. He fostered a relationship with me (the customer) that made it seem like we knew each other a lot longer than 2 days. This was echoed by the rest of the staff that I encountered, making the entire process pressure and stress free.Car shopping is a situation that I dread, with the stereotypical pushy sales people, the negotiation tactics, and the constant feeling like you are getting no where. I recently purchased a brand new Kona 2020 and I already need a full engine replacement, after not even 3000 miles! I recently purchased from Hyundai torrington and did not have an issue with my last vehicle. However,I barely made the second payment on this brand new car when the car had issues and I was informed it needed a NEW ENGINE!!! ??? I no longer recommend torrington Hyundai! The sales manager, knowing of my problems, never even attempted to contact me. I also requested a new car but they said no. So? My NEW car needs a NEW engine! Do not use Hyundai torrington!

5 years ago, the Service department was run by a gentleman by the name of Gavin. Back then I was happy to have a Hyundai and recommended the vehicle to everyone. Since his leaving, the service department is now being run by a bully who has hired the rudest staff and his crew has created an environment where it is clear they do not care about the customer. They are the reason why I will not be buying another Hyundai. Every other Hyundai dealership I have been too has been courteous and helpful but sadly they are not nearby.

My experience was great. The staff here is amazing and they take care of every single one of your needs. I had Josh as a salesperson and he was super helpful, attentive, and gave me all the info I needed on the car and was super cool to talk to. The manager Bill Lewis is super nice and he took great care of me. I was in awe by how well everyone there took care of me. The process of buying the car was smooth and had no hiccups along the way. What is usually a stressful process was actually enjoyable. Also, Mike the finance guy was super nice and explained everything thoroughly. You can tell everyone here genuinely cares about their jobs. The service is outstanding. And I love my new car :) I’ll definitely be taking my business here again

Love Torrington Hyundai.My wife and I were looking for a new car to lease. Jim gave us a test drive of a few cars and answered all of our questions. He was never pushy during the visit, which we appreciated, and encouraged us to make sure that we got the car that was right for us. We ended up test driving a few other vehicles from a few other dealerships and when we finally decided on the 2020 Elantra, Jim took care of making it happen. The lease process was smooth and quick and Torrington Hyundai gave me exactly what I wanted for my trade-in. Overall 5 star experience.

One of the worst places for customer service I have ever experienced. After three weeks, five emails, at least 8 phone calls, we are still waiting to receive information from them regarding the warranty on our car. They never answer the phone and whenever they do, they never put you through to the right person. They have promised call backs on at least 8 different occasions and never have. We have spoken to the manager and still no responses when promised. After further emails and phone conversations we are still waiting. Terrible service and would advise anyone wanting to buy a car here, avoid at all costs.

I went to Torrington Hyundai for a used Genesis Sedan. The sales staff was very kind and helpful. I did not feel pressured to buy like you normally do in a dealership. Steve seemed like genuine guy who wanted to get me into a good car. The business manager, Michael, made the buying process go very smoothly. Always a pleasure we travel about 45 minutes to deal with him rather then someone local to us. Honestly if you need a car talk to him.

Both the website and a salesman told me they will not be undersold and will beat any price. But when I showed him a very competitive price from another dealership in CT, he sounded very surprised. Told me he would check and call me back, and he never did. Dont advertise that you will beat any price when you clearly cant. Bad business. Very disappointed.

Jim was fantastic, really friendly and personable and did not pressure me at all. I got to spend the entire day with him as things were backed up on a Saturday and not only did he feed me lunch, but I really had a fun and relaxing day with him and I felt like he was really interested in getting to know me and giving me a great experience and not just selling me a car. He even sent me a happy birthday text the next day. He made sure that I knew everything about my new car before I drove away and made sure I was comfortable using all of the features. The finance department was great and did not pressure me into buying extras, we were able to joke and laugh and it was painless. Overall it was just a really fun day which is not something you would think of when you think about buying a car. My past experiences had me expecting the worst but I would recommend Torrington to all of my friends and family!

Extremely disappointed. I was happy with my salesman, Steve Smith, but my dissatisfaction started after the handshake. First of all, the finance manager attempted to slip that VIN etching garbage past me without telling me. Second, the service department damaged my vehicle and the dealership wont fix it. I brought the car in a few days after purchase so they could wet vac it to get the cigarette stench out. When I picked the car up, there was a crack across almost the entire length of the windshield. I didnt notice until I was almost home due to the snow and fog on the windshield. When I called the dealership I was told it would be easier for me to go through my own insurance company. I will not be a repeat customer.

After emailing the dealer multiple times about pricing (as we know dealers like to flaunt a price and rebates that arent available to all) I was informed in black and white, yes that price is for everyone! I took the 4 hour round trip journey to be told that I dont qualify for all the rebates and just landed myself a 4 hour waste of my time because they want you in the seat to try and pressure you into buying something. Very deceptive, dishonest, and poor business practice. The prices are not accurate and dont waste your time emailing about it as theyre just going to lie and say they are to get you there. I walked out angry that they wasted my time and more upset that they honestly thought I was stupid enough to buy a car from them after they swindled me into the dealership. I could have received the same deal from my Hyundai dealer thats 20 minutes from my house. I do not recommend at all!Update: Yes, its the correct dealer, and yes your dealership wasted my time with not being forthright. Sorry, but look at your new vehicles listed and please be honest that theyre a price that everyone will qualify for. Its very irritating when you arrive to only be told that youre not eligible for $2,500. Its not a couple hundred, its a considerable amount.

I test drove an Elantra for a 1/2 mile and feel in love .The people here are way too kind and really enjoy helping me . From the salesman to the finance officer all the way to the service technicians are great . I was a Ford lover that has changed to Hyundai owner .

One star!Really nice and helpful salesman (Gary S.). BUT Typical bait and switch dealership. Online price was $7k (I have screen shots and emails). I Asked for photos via email 4 times over a week time period. Verified VIN to make sure it was the same vehicle as advertised. Finally got the photos sent to me via text. I showed up next day to test drive vehicle....at which time they changed the price to $8k online after I said I was interested in a cash deal! Then I was told that the Owner was actually jacking it up to $10k unless I did financing with them, only then would the $8k price be honored. They wouldn’t honor the $7k price originally posted and said it was too low compared to similar comps in the area (not my problem)!But if I was paying cash it would be higher than the $8k. NO THANK YOU! YOU CAN KEEP YOUR CAR (which needs a valve cover gasket by the way). My advice...DON’T DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE, unless you like to play pricing games and be jerked around. Terrible unethical and unprofessional management.

I was looking for a 2019 Hyundai Tuscon during November 2019! We had a bad experience at the dealership in Stamford, so we decided to check other local dealers. My husband called them and explained what we were looking for. The salesman we had was Jim. He was really easy to work with and did not give us any sort of run around. He was also very transparent with the out the door cost and the breakdown of taxes and fees. He sent paperwork to us and explained all our options clearly. The finance manager, Mike was also really easy to work with and did not try to talk us into anything. I highly recommend this dealership!

Just a reminder to anyone who reads this not to trust dealers that use unethical marketing practices, namely the Monte Carlo money ticket BS. Most of the tickets that get sent in the mail (if not all of them) have a matching pair of the 777 symbol claiming youve won $2,500 in cold hard cash, no purchase necessary. Its a ploy that desperate dealerships use to get people in, believing theyve won, but its all a hunk of BS. I know the owner is going to respond to this saying we just had a $2,500 winner yesterday, sorry it wasnt you! But thats just to try and cover their tails. If you get one of these in the mail, just throw it out. Im happy that I didnt actually go out of my way to visit the store because a simple Google search shows how the scam works.

I shopped throughout the state for our car. I can honestly say Dave gave us the best deal in the state. Dave negotiated very thoroughly with us from beginning to end. Mike patiently went through all of our questions the day that we picked up the car. Gary went through the car with us carefully before we drove away.
