This is a great place to train traditional karate! I highly recommend it for both children and adults!

Great place for the entire family to learn & practice traditional karate. I have two boys who have learned self-confidence, respect for tradition, and self control, and wholesome values in addition to strength, agility, and focus. Through my practice, I have also gained strength, agility and focus but I have also been able to improve my balance, memory, reaction time, and patience. For over 10 years it was on my bucket list to study and learn karate. Finally last year I did something about it, and I couldnt be happier with my choice. I enrolled at Acclaim Protective Arts, and it has been wonderful. I am in my early 50s, and I was initially concerned that maybe an old person like me wouldnt have the ability and stamina to train in karate, but that is not the case. Sensei Jay and all of the students are very helpful and supportive in helping each person learn and grow in the art of karate. I knew going into this that I would be working out and exercising my body, but what I didnt know was that I would also be enriching my life mentally and spiritually. This has been a total body workout--mind, body, and soul--and it has been rewarding on so many levels. Not only that, but I really enjoy the fact that we are learning traditional Okinawan karate which is centuries old and rich in history. Sensei Jay is dedicated to teaching the proper techniques to his students as well as educating us in the history of karate. Plus, there are also classes on weaponry and Tai Chi. Lastly I would like to add that I joined on my own, but the academy is made up of all ages and types of people--kids as young as five (there are youth classes as well as adult classes), older people (even older than me LOL), married couples, parents and their children, etc. If you reading this, then you must be interested in martial arts. I strongly recommend you call or come in to Acclaim Protective Arts today. I waited over 10 years to finally start my journey in learning the art of karate. Acclaim is not the same, it if a awesome place to learn traditional martial arts, tai chi and kubudo. I have been with Sensei for around twelve years and the traditional aspect has not changed one little bit and with direct ties to Okinawa. It is a great place to learn respect, honor, and other good morals. It has a great family atmosphere where you feel very welcome and encouraged in your endeavors, in and out of the dojo. Acclaim protective Arts is a must go to place to study in the traditional karate style(Shorin-ryu Shorinkan ) Kobudo ( Weapons training) Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Nunchaku, Kama.For 8 years now Ive been training and developing my skills and knowledge . I couldnt be more grateful with all that Ive learned and will be continuing to learning from Sensei J who has over 40 years! Of knowledge and experience under his belt . You will not find a better place to study the arts of traditional karate style (Shorin-ryu Shorinkan) . I hope any one that is interested in martial arts will stop by and train with us . My two children have been training at Acclaim Protective Arts under the guidance of Sensei Overley for several years. We were warmly welcomed the minute we walked into the dojo. Along with traditional martial arts training Sensei teaches life lessons, faith, and discipline. The lessons learned at the academy have played an important role in both of my childrens lives, as it has made them more focused, attentive, and confident.
