Made me clean an already clean car minus a couple of leaves and some sand on the driver side floor mat. Ive never ever heard that before. Then tried to charge me 600 dollar more for the car when I didnt sign for it. Doesnt answer calls. And the oil change lite was on when I received it. Also I rented a suv type and got a normal car.
Number one don’t waste your time trying to call… he doesn’t answer the phone….If I could give a -10 stars I would. We have a rental leaking air in the tire and the guys response was “well your next car could be worse, any car on this lot could be worse, they all have nails in the tires!” He then tries to take my car key and give me another car sight unseen. When I told him I would trade after making sure the other car didn’t have any service lights on he stormed inside and yelled you can see the car when I get your key. Never had such a rude experience in my entire life!
This place goes above and beyond that you are satisfied.
Budget is so awful and unhelpful. We scheduled a reservation over the phone and when we got there they said our reservation wasnt even in their system and that there were no trucks available. Im convinced they just schedule everybody that calls and then leaves people to fend for themselves when nothing is available. The way this company is run is insane. Now since its a Sunday, we have no options to move our furniture and are out of luck. This is going to cost us.
HORRIBLE! Fraudsters! Put in pickup as 2:56 AM! Not even open then! Car was picked up at 2:56 PM! This non-accidental triggered false 3 additional days!This AFTER they gave me a car whose check engine and oil change needed lights came on within an hour!This car had not been cleaned at all.Better to go to PHL airport than go here!ZERO stars!
Didnt have the vehicle I had a reservation for. Completely ruining my move and everything around it that was planned for months. When I asked if they had any other vehicles he smiled and laughed and said no. Then started talking to the next person.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! If I could give zero stars I would. When we arrived to pick the truck up at 3pm after we called ahead and was told yes come by, no one was there. We had to wait for someone to show up. The truck we rented was covered in animal feces, yes, I said animal feces, and animal food. Called back to complain and no answer. He wasn’t there. Called customer service for Budget and they told me sorry but there is nothing they can do while I have an open rental after being transferred a dozen times. They told me to feel free to clean it.

The attendant at the pick up location was completely unhelpful. I booked an SUV for my rental but there were no SUVs available when I arrived & I was not given prior notice that an SUV wouldnt be available. I was told if I took a smaller car I wouldnt receive part of my booking cost back since I pre-paid. I also booked WIFI with my reservation - the attendant had no idea what I was talking about. He called a supervisor who told him the WIFI is only available at the airport locations. I called customer service 2 different times to verify that if I drove 45 minutes out of my way the next morning to the airport Id be able to exchange the car for an SUV and pick up the WIFI tablet. Upon arriving at the airport those attendants also had no idea what I was talking about and were unable to provide me with a WIFI tablet. The slightly lower price is not worth the aggravation.
I drop my car off early and leave 5m away but there is No staff to drop me home Otherwise no other issue Just disappointed
DO NO RENT HERE. Reserved a 16’ truck here 2 weeks in advanced to move myself out of myHouse. I revived email confirmation 5 then days before date saying booking was confirmed. Showed up to location 9AM sharp. Employee was late and when he arrived in a company rental he came out smelling like weed. After he finally opened location I was told that there was no truck here and that there was nothing he could do to help me. So now I’m in the position where I have to move out of my house today and I have no truck. Thank you Toms River Budget truck rental you guys were great!

Do not rent any vehicle from this place. Had reserved 16 foot truck for a move for my daughter to go to her college apartment. Got email confirmation 2days before, show up day of rental to find out they had NO TRUCKS AT ALL. OH SO SORRY. hand me company brochure and say call. They will find you an urgent rental. So I call, 3 different departments, only to be told a manager will call. Well 3 hrs later nothing. Horrible service, never again. Wish I could post no stars
Made a reservation a week ahead of time, arrived and there was no truck. Asked to wait up to two hours. Ridiculous. Plan your reservations better.
Vehicle was dirty on the outside. When calling to ask about returning the vehicle. No one was answering. Had to call multiple times. There wasnt even a answering service. Phone just hung up. Wasnt able to get my Federal discount as well.
Do not rent from Budget Toms River. Not only were both employees who we interacted with extremely rude and unprofessional, they were not wearing masks or practicing social distancing. We were very concerned that we were exposed to COVID as the office is incredibly small and there was no effort made at all on their end to abide by state laws. In addition to these major issues, the car they provided was completely filthy - crumbs/dirt everywhere, smelled of vomit, had the service light on - and clearly was not COVID sanitized. This facility is a health hazard and should be shut down due to potentially exposing all clients to COVID.
I had the WORST experience with this company. Last week I booked a cargo van for pickup at 7:30 am so I could move out of my apartment. On the day of my move I took a day off work and went to pick up my van. When I arrived, NO van in sight. We went to the entrance and the door was locked. A hand written note said that they open at 8 (why did they let me book a pickup for 7:30). A gentleman was walking around cleaning vehicles, we went over and asked him about our van pickup. The man replied that this location doesn’t rent vans. We showed him the email confirmation and he was quite confused. I then proceeded to call customer service. I was told they only operate on central time and had to then wait an hour to hear back. No one would help me: not customer service and not the man behind the counter. I then called up Home Depot down the street and LUCKILY they had a cargo van all ready to go AND they were charging $100 less than Budget so I was able to successfully move! I finally heard back from Budget 12 hours after my supposed pickup and the email was not to apologize but to send me formwork to fill out before I pick up my van (my pickup time was 12 hours BEFORE that email came in)Overall this company was just awful to deal with. I will not be giving them my business anytime soon.If anyone needs a van or truck rental, I encourage you to check out Home Depot or EnterpriseUPDATE - I was charged $75 for a rental that never happened!
Car was dirty when I picked up, dirty outside and inside, can of Lysol in back seat. When I brought it back, I stood 10 minutes at the counter while the clerk behind the counter argued with someone on the phone. Very stressing to say the least!
Moving 3 states away and booked a one way rental weeks in advance. I even called 3 days in advance to confirm a truck and said yes. This company knew they had no moving truck for me. They did not contact me but let me drive an hour to the location to find out. They do not care about the customer at all.This is the biggest joke ever. I am still in this nightmare... customer service stated that a reservation does not gurantee a truck, she also said welcome to the trucking company. Do not rent from this company!!!! I have lost time, money, and patience. Moving is already stressful time. How can anyone plan to move there lives with a company that cant provide a service.
Dont use them. I had a reservation made for myself and 3 friends when we got there we were told that because of technical difficulties they didnt have any cars available, Not the first time ive have had issues with them. Use the Avis/Budget in Freehold they are more trustworthy and reliable.

Rented a 26 foot truck and car trailer 2 months in advance. They had a 17 foot truck and trailer and said they had no 26 foot trucks. So in their mind a 17 foot truck would work. Thankfully u-haul got me the right size truck in a day. Dont use this rental store, others had car reservations, but they had no cars.
Staff was friendly and the process was smooth.I just wish they were more careful with covid prevention.
I specifically did a search for an economy vehicle in order to maximize fuel efficiency during my trips. When I arrived at the Budget location, I was informed that there were no economy vehicles available. I would suggest working on providing a more accurate inventory for your customers. If a customer searches for an economy vehicle, and you provide a result. Logic dictates then when that customer arrives, he or she should receive an economy vehicle. Pretty simple. I did not receive one, and took a hit financially because of it. Very unhappy.

Absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. Ive rented through Budget before, however, this was the worst location Ive ever been to. I prepaid my rental and was not informed by the representative that by picking up the car 1 hour earlier, I would be charged extra. The rep didnt even walk me out to the car to check for any damage, the fuel level, or show me where it was (she just said it was somewhere in the lot, she didnt know). I had enough sense to walk back in and let them know the bumper was cracked (or I probably wouldve gotten charged for that). Additionally, the rep said nothing about their business hours on Sunday, so by arriving 20 minutes after their closing time, I was charged for an additional day. AND lesson learned, never buy gas for a rental car with cash. Yes, I saved myself a few cents in gas, but not having proof cost me $44!! So after all the taxes and fees, this cost me almost as much as my 5 day rental. Unreal... will NEVER rent from this place again. Very unprofessional. Sorry Budget, but you need to train this office again on proper customer service skills.
Booked well over 2 weeks in advance, called morning of to make sure my fiancé could still pick up the truck as my name was under the reservation. As I called the morning of (3 hours before we were suppose to pick up truck) we were told they have no trucks available. I had a literal heart attack! We were moving from NJ to Michigan THAT DAY! I was told I’d get a call back in 2 hours and heard nothing!! We were in a panic and called every truck rental place in town. We called UHaul and the closest truck they had was 45 minutes away. Still very helpful for needing a truck the day of. Thank god for Penske, they had one for immediate rental in our town with unlimited miles and were very helpful in the process. I tried to call to cancel my non existent truck with Budget and they didn’t even answer! I better not be getting charged! Horrible service. Go to Penske!!!!
The young man behind the counter is there 24/7. He is always swamped with customers and he is very calm and actually cares about the customers. He handles everything from Avis cars to budget trucks. I don’t know if he is the manager, owner or just an employee but kudos to him for doing such a fantastic job
Car was dirty with garbage under seats from previous driver.. Nasty odor and the car only had a quarter tank of gas but was marked ‘Full’ on receipt. Car was obviously not ready for pickup even though I showed up an hour later than the reservation time.
They were great and helped me out a lot! Thank you for being the only place open on July 4th!

Ive rented here multiple times over the past few years with no issues. The cars are always late models with low mileage, clean, and very dependable. I always fond they have the best rates as well.

This place is always hopping, but the young man (who is ALWAYS behind the counter) is a fantastic employee!!! Good fair prices!!
It wasnt mentioned that there would be a credit check if i used my debit card, but even with that my credit score is 720. They ran my credit and didnt tell me what it was but denied me to use my debit card for the rental. I pay for experian and know my credit is 720. They wouldnt explain or tell me what they were getting nor was there someone to call.

I had my car stolen and Budget wasnt open till mid night. Wah Wah Wah, Oh Boo Hoo. Sounds like you are taking out your frustration on Budget when you should be mad at the car thieves. False advertising. What a joke. You are too ignorant to know the definition of False Advertising. Big deal, somebody made a mistake on the website. That isnt False Advertising. False Advertising would be if Budget posted that if you rent a car one day, you get the next 5 days for free. Budget should not have to apologize to you for anything. Name any kind of business in Toms River open till midnight other than, bars, clubs and food establishments. There arent any. Maybe you should have called Budget first. That would be too intelligent a choice for you.
