My family and I had a great time on the Pirate Water Taxi! My special needs daughter is in a wheelchair. The captain and crew were very accommodating! What a great way to see downtown Tampa. Very informative, too, with stories about the various bridges and landmarks. Take a ride on the PWT. Youll love it!
We had so much fun on this boat tour! A great way to travel throught the city and you learn some very unique history about Tampa while on the boat! A must do for families!
Worst ever!! We had one guy from our party of 15 people that was drunk and was using foul language. When they dropped us off at armature works he went home and a couple of hours later we went to go catch the pirate taxi back to our cars and they refused to let us board! We told them that the guy that was using foul language was no longer with us and we just wanted to ride back to the convention center to our cars and they refused to let us ride! We did absolutely nothing wrong and paid our full $25 for the full day transportation. It was awful. We had to walk two miles back to our car for literally nothing that we did wrong. We even called the phone number and they said yes weve already spoke the door management and you are not allowed to ride. I asked on which basis they used to determine this. Just because we had one bad egg in our group the whole group was banned? We all paid really good money for this! Will never use them again
Worst experience ever, went on Labor Day with family that came to visit and waited for over an hour for the small taxi to pick us up in the spot #3 and it never showed up. We had to walk back to one of the main points and the guy who drove the big one said that their description is confusing. Also, it was happy hour and we were charged full price.
I originally booked a trip on Tampa water Taxi but they canceled at 7AM due to weather on a day when the forecast was great. We went with the Pirate Taxi instead and had a great time. we were in Tampa until 5PM with no weather issues.
Great way to bar hop or restaurant hop on Riverwalk! Staff is super friendly and there is an assortment of refreshments to purchase while on board. Brief history is narrated along the route to give some background on key features, monuments and buildings along the river. A fantastic way to visit some of the restaurants, bars and places along Riverwalk. Pricing from daily to two day passes to annual passes.
Sooo Pirate Water Taxi was an enjoyable experience with some hiccups. After eating at Armature Works we decided to take the taxi down the river. I do think 20$ per person is a bit extreme but I’m all about memories so we went. After our first stop the boat driver advised to check the schedule so we knew when to come back. Well we came back and the Northbound boat was super late. When we finally got back on I mentioned they weren’t on schedule and he said they didn’t go based on the schedule. Weird. Anyway we made our way down with the driver pointing out sites to see. We took the taxi all the way to American Social for drinks. This time before heading to the dock I called and the dispatcher made sure a taxi was on its way. Worked out good because didn’t seem to be anyone coming and it was almost 9pm. Overall, we’d do it again when they have deals running.
This was not a good experience at all. The taxi comes around once per hour. We were at the pick up location with 3 other groups. It was approximately 15 people when the taxi didnt stop and made us wait for them to come all the way back which was 1 hour later. We got on the boat, and watched them actively leave other groups. It was also the last boat of the night meaning those customers forced to find other means of transportation. I get not wanting to stop at every stop but that is ridiculous. That you could actively be waiting on the boat and then they just never pull on to pick you up.
Waste of money now. They now run every hour, instead of I think it was 30 minutes. Very inconvenient. They also are never on time. My party showed up at 4:15pm for the scheduled 4:30pm time to leave. Boat didn’t show until 5:05pm (35 minutes late), then made us sit until the 5:30pm scheduled time to leave. So they wasted 75 minutes of our time. Won’t be doing it again. Don’t waste your money on a company that obviously doesn’t respect your time.
Fun ride! We will do it again! Need to serve Black Cherry White Claw on the taxi.
I loved Pirate water taxi so much I purchased an annual pass for my family and to take friends when they visit. The best way to see downtown Tampa is from the river. Go after 6pm for discounted day passes. Staff is super friendly. Well worth doing if you are looking for something to do downtown. Combine with a museum and restaurant for the perfect day trip.(this was my original review).Tonight (11/19/2019) we lined up at the convention center stop to go home. We are annual passes holders. They cancelled the last trip and left us standing there with no excuse other than theres not enough businesses to do the schedule. Would you accept that for your airline flight?
Great way to see the city. Affordable. Sometimes a delay in getting picked up. Ask before getting off about their return. No worries though. Recommend.
Most of us rely on vehicles when we need to get from one place to the next. In Tampa, Florida, you have all the usual vehicle options but if you need to get someplace near the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, a good alternative to your transportation needs is the Pirate Water Taxi.I spent a few days in Tampa and I used the Pirate Water Taxi one day when I needed a quick ride from the Curtis Hixson Park area over to the Armature Works area. I hopped aboard the taxi and we made our way to my destination, passing by downtown and getting some good photo ops along the way. This is, in fact, one of the advantages of a using a service like this. You get a completely different view than you would get in a vehicle and this makes for some good pictures, both of the water and of the Tampa skyline, which are great for sharing on social media and elsewhere.Pirate Water Taxi’s boats are not very big and there is only a single level. This means the boat might be full when it comes to your specific docking point and if no one exits, well, there may not be any space and that means you might have to wait until the next boat arrives. It will depend on how busy it is at that particular time of day, so be prepared to possibly have to wait if it’s the weekend or other time of day when many people use the service.Pirate Water Taxi features bench style seating which isn’t the most comfortable, but the trips are generally short and if you like, you can stand up, walk around, and enjoy the views. They serve drinks, including beer and wine, and during happy hour, you can get the drinks you like often for very reasonable prices. You can rent out one of the boats for a private group also, and they even have an option to purchase a pass for an entire year all at once, if you feel you will be using the service frequently.Cars and busses are fine for most transportation needs, but when in downtown Tampa, I recommend the Pirate Water Taxi for trips along the water front. I had only a few small issues with this service, but they are not enough to sway my opinion much and I recommend taking a ride on one of these vessels if you’re in the downtown area.
I love this service you can ride from the zoo to downtown. If your lucky that day you can start out seeing Manatees or Aligators and end up seeing Dolphins close to the Convention Center like my mother and I did . We had Salty Sam and Captain Jay that day and had a great time. If you want to blab with the crew cool if not then just chill and ride its all good :)
Waste of time and money. Our family spent most of the time waiting. They did not have enough boats for every one to get on. We tried to get back on at one stop and it was very disorganized. They had us in the wrong line even though it was clearly marked. She could not give us any updates as to when they were going to send another boat nor did they offer any water for the inconvenience of having to wait for late boats on a hot day.
I cannot remember the name of the young woman that checked us in on Friday night Dec. 4, but she was amazing. Knowledgeable and attentive and incredibly helpful! My friend and I did the holiday cruise and it was very cute and festive. This was my first time interacting with with company and now I know to expect quality service from them!
Loved it! The tour guide was so nice and interactive
Great tourist spot to get to know more of Tampa Bay & site see this beautiful city!! You get to hop off on any of the spots & enjoy the area & then hop on again and enjoy more. All day pass is worth the price and time to spend in the city. They have restrooms & sell drinks on board.
Definitely worth the money. Hop on hop office service was phenomenal
A little pricey considering the trolley is free; still fun though.
Fun water taxi service that provides transportation all along the beautiful downtown Riverwalk area. The entire loop goes from the Tampa History Museum, all the way up the mouth of the Hillsborough River to Ricks on the River. I found the staff to be friendly and engaging, informative and accommodating. They paused for photo-ops, and even serve reasonably priced beer and wine. It can be used as a hop on, hop off service.
Oh how I miss you, water taxi!! Even if I wasn’t on the taxi, I loved watching you go by. Until we meet again! #Fcorona=======I love the water taxi. We bought an annual pass and take any out of town guests for a water tour. The staff is always awesome. The drinks are reasonable and the views amazing! If you plan to have a couple drinks somewhere, hop on the taxi and have them on your ride instead. I hope they expand the beverage selection when they get their new boat. If you have a set destination in mind, ride it around a loop to your stop.
I really enjoyed the Pirate Water Taxi down the river. The hop on hop off feature allowed us to get off at Ricks on the River for lunch...awesome experience!
Fun way to travel on the river from downtown up to Ricks on the River restaurant, or Ulele or Armature Works. Narration provided. Takes about a half hour each way. Lots to look at.
Great tour. Has AC thank God.
We had a blast Captain Chris was 💥💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Music made Our Trip. Extremely enjoyable. If you ever in Tampa Florida ride on theWater Taxis with Chris. Thank me later
It was a nice bot ride! I love being out on the water
Good way to view various locations, but could use some cleaning along the route. A group with several children came on and left a mess everywhere! I had to use wet ones to clean off a place to sit.
You guys have some good looking crew working there, definitely would come back ;)
Really fun but I recommend ridding the bigger one and not the small one
Our crew was the bees knees!! The trip was beautiful and certainly brought my sanity back after a tough week. Thank you for your very Essential service. We cant wait to get our annual pass!!
Love the water taxi. I like being able to get on and off so I can go to different locations along the Riverwalk.
Had a great time seeing all the sites from the water. The boat worker was informative and cool. Looking forward to using the taxi next time we are in town.
I think that there was a lot of great information on this site and the customer service popped up to see if they could assist us more. It is definitely a service we shall utilize next week
Great river ride very seanic
Four of us waited to take the water taxi Sunday night from the Curtis hixon Park holiday event. Unfortunately, contrary to what the website states, masks were not being required. After waiting for more than a half hour at stop number 12 when the boat pulled up 2/3 of the passengers were not wearing masks. And it was clearly not possible to social distance. We decided not to chance it and walked away.
Had a great time. Just riding up and down the river
Friendly staff, great beer and other choices on board. They have different sized Taxis. Looking forward to going again.
Nice staff and a great way to get up and down the Tampa water way. Sometimes the captain will act as a tour guide and point out certain land marks but this is hit or miss. Taxi is open air in the bow and air conditioned in the stern.Generally 40 min to an hour before coming back to stop you were let out on. Drinks including alcohol are available for purchase, tips are appreciated and masks are currently required.
The back of the boat has a/c, and is sheltered from storms. They serve beer and have a bathroom on board. Crew was very friendly and accomodating. Definitely worth the annual pass! I will be back.
The water Taxi was very hot specially of you were in the back. No air. Staff was very friendly. Clean.
So, I love the concept, enjoyed the boat ride and seeing downtown Tampa at night. I was on the haunted River tour. For me the experience was ruined by a very large rowdy group of people that were seated right next to us with no masks. The tour presentation was interesting but both actors screamed and shouted without their masks on, had people in the audience scream and shout without masks on, and just plain did a lot of screaming and shouting. I had gone up to the bar and asked for a beer and was told to sit down and that they would be serving me later, which they never did. All employees seemed stressed and harried which was truly unnecessary on what should be a more “haunting” not “taxing” experience.
Took the Christmas Light Cruise and was a waste of money. The “Elf” who was the MC was obnoxious and didn’t follow COVID distancing or wearing of his mask. The website said the boat was at 50% capacity for COVID safety it was more like 75 to 85% capacity. An older gentleman would lead some of the carols and he was amazing. He needed to be the MC. We couldn’t wait for the cruise to be over. Definitely don’t recommend it. I like the regular daily water taxi rides but this special cruise was a huge disappointment.
Great way to do armature works without the traffic
Paid $20 for hop on hop off. They didn’t stop at any stops after our initial disembark. The ticket sales lady was rude AF. Do not recommend. Save your money. We walked more than we rode.
It was great a little chilly out there tonight
Such a fun experience for a day on the river.
Dont waste your money or time
So much fun.... and beautiful at night especially with Christmas 🎄. Highly recommend
Great service for the city
Let me start by giving a shout out to Capt. Mike, Alex, and Aaron. These guys are true professionals, and real Floridians. Want to sail to a local bar? Boom, Alex has got you. Want to go to the aquarium? Boom Mike has got you. Pirate Water Taxi, if you come to Tampa take it or miss out.
With covid the water taxi experience wasnt all that it could have been. I feel like it would have been better if you could reserve your trip with a limited crew of 10 and also if someone call on advance that more information could be provided on how everything goes with the changes. My first time ever visiting the location I wasnt able to get on. And the booth closed at 9 even though they are open until 1130. The great thing though there are other activities there that can be enjoyed
Super bowl put on a great show down town. Taxi was booked
It is fun but they need more boats
Best experience we have had all year long with covid. We felt very safe, it also was my sons 15th birthday and he was allowed to drive the boat.
4.7 Stars Guys. We’re passholders, and we rode the new boat this evening. It was so much faster. I’m impressed at the huge upgrade in the experience, and felt it important to share the great enhancements they’ve done. Keep up the great improvements guys. We’re fans of the Water Taxi.
What a joke. Dont bother rude people. Will not pick you up unless yell at boat. But they will not stop. Had to Uber. Dont waist your money. Total joke of a business!
We LOVE the Pirate Taxi! Always such a fun time!!
A great way to see and experience the best of what Tampa has to offer...great for visitors and locals alike!
Great drinks and very relaxing.
Great tours. Guides were very friendly and informative. The all day pass is a good deal
Fun for the whole family. Highly recommend.
My wife and I took the haunted boat tour, last evening. We had a blast. Our guide, Miss Elizabeth was quite talented and very friendly. Learned some interesting facts, and had a great time doing so. Highly recommend giving this a try. Also if you show up early you might get to be put on an earlier cruise. Happened to us and a few other couples. This was great and really puts you in the Halloween spirit.
Really fun. Great crew. Captain was a great driver. Clean boat. Provided hand sanitizer. Nice touch.
I loved this! I visited Tampa last week and my best day there included riding this Pirate Water Taxi quite a bit. We had a very nice and handsome young man as our Pirate Captain:)
Wow. Beautiful views with beer available. Surely a great time. Only problem is schedules and wait times can be a bit much. Most of the time they cant even make it to stop #2 sadly.
