Great people! We got our sweet girl from them a little over 2 years ago and we love her so much
Never went in due to covid restrictions. We were ushered to the back yard and there were random holes dug around 2 foot in diameter and a foot or so deep. I am sure that was either animal or maintenance but no one had covered them back up or put a warning around them.
The staff takes time to observe the personalities of each kitten and cat that desperately need to be adopted. They matched up two adult cats that get along with one another and we loved them and they loved us for SIXTEEN YEARS❤️❤️😋
Went in to get a voucher to have my dog neutered. The staff were super kind and helpful!
I’ve adopted a few animals from them and they are simply amazing. When I lost my dog a few years ago, they found out and reached out to me immediately (because when he first got sick I’d told them I cope better getting a new dog right away). Amy let me adopt her sweet foster puppy who has been perfect for me! I really do love everyone who works there and I know for a fact that they love what they do! Even during this crazy year, they have made themselves available and helpful because they know the need for these fur babies to find their forever homes isn’t going to stop just because of a pandemic! Keep up the great work! Love you guys!
The Humane Society is a no kill shelter. They strongly care about the animals that come through, and they want every animal to end up in a loving forever home. Any pet you get from them is going to be healthy or under treatment (ailments like FIV will be noted in the animals info page). Theyll give you advice if each animal could be suited to your home (e.g. if a cat does or does not like other cats, if the animal seems good with children, etc.). There are occasional low or free adoption days. Most animals are housed in foster homes, but they will arrange a meeting between you and the animal if youre interested in one of the animals living off-site.Editing to add new photos.
Staff friendly and do great things.
Great people there. You can tell they are there for the animals. Great customer service and lots of awesome dogs that need a home.
Treated me good and pets
Love the ladies here so much and am so thankful for the work they do. Great place
The staff was very professional and helpful with the retrieval of my dog, to the staff, we both would like to say thank you all.
They save many anomals with low funding
If you are looking for the perfect four-legged addition to your family, look no further than the Leon County Humane Society. They have a large selection of beautiful babies who are healthy and looking to share your life. The staff and volunteers give generously of their time and attention to be certain that whichever new family member goes home with you will be just the right match. One of the foster mothers, Martha Walton, made several trips to the Humane Society office to help me pick my new pet. She was patient and caring and it was obvious that she wanted to ensure that which ever pet I chose would be the best match for me and for it
Awesome. Always willing to help out with cat or dog food. Also gives out vouchers to fix animals if needed.
Wonderful love it staff was great as well nice an clean all over
Staff very helpful.
It was wonderful. Amy made adopting the foster dog Dan so easy.
Its okay but most if the animals are really old.
Tried to help, but they cant cause the human society soordinagor in Pensacola is a PSYCHO. CAPITAL P, PSYCHO.
Unfortunately I have to agree with some of the negative comment about this particular shelter. I am a dog LOVER with an extremely large backyard who could provide a small heaven for a dog. I came in there a longer while ago (end of last summer) but the atmosphere is bad. The front person was condescending and annoying! It was not so much what she said, it was more how she said it. I was asking what dogs would be available for adoption? I was looking for a companion dog for my beloved small female dog. She just asked if my dog is spayed. I responded not yet. My dog was sickish when younger and a surgery would have not been good for her at the time. The moment I responded that my dog was not spayed she become close to insulting. She explained that I would NEVER get any animal from the Humane Society because people like me are the problem. She took the paperwork back, and I was sort of trying to defend myself. Our family had multiple female dogs and cats in our life time and not one single time any of them had any offspring.Again, I see the rules and understand the need for neuter and spaying and as a physician I have seen enough pain from such an issue with animals. But the way she was talking is inexcusable. It did prevented me from ever returning there for adoption. Poor dogs and cats who could be adopted but the lady at the front has to chance her anger into love and kindness for such an important job. Yes, kindness is missing over there. I am sorry!
Martha was absolutely wonderful to work with. Our little Riley is a great pup! On the day we picked her up Martha and the staff went out of their way to answer all of our questions. Such a great experience. Thank you again!
My boyfriend and I have been trying to adopt a kitten from this shelter. We walked in and looked at all the cats and picked one. Fell in love with this one specific cat and were ready to pay the fee. After developing such a connection with this kitten, they informed us that we actually have to pay a large fee and give them every little information about our residence, which I understand to a certain extent. The lady that we spoke to was condescending and laid a level of prejudice that I have never felt before, calling us unprepared or unfit to have a cat just because we are college students. To make this experience even worse we told the lady we would pay that day in order to guarantee the kitten was going to be there the next day and they didn’t even allow us to do that? We called the next day to see if the cat was there and they had moved it from this shelter to I don’t know where. I’m sorry but this is the worst experience I have had even though my family has 3 cats and 2 dogs. P.S the lady told us she didn’t want the cat to be moving around but they’re doing the same exact thing to the kitten we want. I am so beyond disappointed at this establishment.Just to add on, this woman was not much older than my boyfriend and I... yet she was talking down on us like we had never seen a cat in our lives! If you’re doubtful of my review keep scrolling and you will see more of these reviews of people that agree. I’m sorry to Lisa, that you have to read this because you are so sweet but I have to be honest now because I didn’t get a chance to say this while I was in the shelter since the lady basically was screaming at us questioning us like we did something wrong.Another update: the kitten we wanted got adopted of course, even though we asked if they could give us some time to sort things out with our landlord and financial status. The maturity level at this place shows no empathy towards their patrons. I do believe the woman moved this specific kitten out of spite of us, she really made sure we were not going to get this cat and we didnt.
These people are sleazy. I went to the trouble of filing out two of their very lengthy adoption requests, answering silly questions like how playful do I want my cat to be, and also insulting questions like Do you mind if we call your vet obviously to check me out. Then after 10 days with no response, I called them to learn that they evidently had not replied because I indicated that I wanted my cat to be indoor-outdoor, and they will only adopt to people that will keep the cat exclusively indoor. If they had said this up front on their website, it would have saved me all this trouble---and wasted time. I wouldnt have bothered to apply. Their attitudes and practices are asinine.
Closed at time of visit. Hours when open are strange. Will return
The staff here is very committed to making sure these animals go to the best homes possible. They are friendly, informative, and caring. They are incredible and will help you through the entire adoption process if you have any questions.
They seem to keep their site updated.
Editing my review as I never wrote anything. DO NOT ADOPT FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. They will not help you, I still have many questions and they will not respond to my email. You can see how unscrupulous this place really is. Katie Logue dropping a 5 star review on her own establishment where she is a current employee. Is that not a conflict of interest? According to google reviews guidelines, it is. I think maybe you guys should make some more fake accounts to boost your rating instead of using your own ones. DO NOT ADOPT HERE DO NOT ADOPT HERE DO NOT ADOPT HERE
As a foster mom to all our wonderful dogs we really appreciate the loving care and exceptional staff at the Humane Society. They go over and above for each and every dog and cat they encounter. Thank you for all you do to love and nurture our furry friends.
They do a good job caring for animals
I love that the dogs they have for adoption are in foster homes. Yes, their adoption rates are higher. BUT, I think its worth paying more when you can get better knowledge of the dog before adopting.
Great place
My friends were looking to adopt there first kitten, after visiting leon county humane society we looked around and found a kitten that my friends fell in love with. we stayed inside and played with this kitten for around an hour. After my friends finally found the kitten of there dreams, they were ready to adopt. A nice lady then passed us over to a very condescending attendant, to help us in the process of adopting. She then proceeded to ask unnecessary questions about our living, and then contacted where my friends live. (which i understand to a certain extent) After telling us this information and proceeding to say we needed to pay an extra $300 on top of the $100 adoption fee, and while having to get multiple papers signed. she then began to discriminate us because of our age, and asked if we could even afford pet supplies for the cat. I then proceeded to say I would adopt the cat because I live in a house, and would hold it for my friend until he gets the papers signed. She then refused to do anything so we could get the cat, and told us “we don’t want the cat to be moved around”. After calling the next day to see if the cat was there, it was moved to a different location... this place is extremely unprofessional, and is actually easier to buy a gun then adopt a cat here. They don’t seem to want to find there animals new homes, and would rather throw them into cages. The Cats look extremely scared, and when playing with them, they seem like they never get play time. This place needs PETA, or employees who actually care about finding animals good homes, and treat them respectfully. We had all the supplies and were willing to pay the $100 fee, they couldn’t even hold the cat for us if we were to give them the $100 to have time to get papers signed. All the trouble we went through to get this cat and save it, they should have gifted it to us. This place is HORRIBLE. If you want to adopt go somewhere else, and do not support this place. (Just looked on the website and the “marketing/graphic design coordinator, was the condescending attendant) Why is the graphic designer helping us to adopt a cat?
This is the most amazing rescue organization ever!! They are very compassionate about saving animals who have no voice. They provide top notch medical care for all of their rescues. They find the best loving homes for adoptions and use the utmost care in doing this for all adoptions. Their adoption application is thorough and questions have to be asked and information verified. This is done because these animals have been through so much already by the time they reach their facility. So it’s imperative to make sure they go to, not only a loving home, but one that will care for the cat or dog for the remainder of its life. This is absolutely understandable and warranted. They love seeing one of the adoptable animals go to a loving and secure home with each adoption. If you’ve never been exposed to rescue, you will never understand this protocol, it’s a must! The adoption fees cover the cost of everything they’ve done to get the animal ready for adoption. You certainly couldn’t go and have all of these things done yourself for that adoption fee of $100 or $80. At times these animals rescued require medical care for which they do not charge extra for and this becomes difficult since they receive absolutely no state or federal funding. They are celebrating 60 years of being in Leon County and have an impeccable record of adoptions... something they don’t take likely or for granted. Yes there’s a few things they require and if you’re not prepared to adopt or not sure what the process is, then give them a call, simple as that. They are staffed with a very few employees which do a remarkable job and are often stretched to take on multiple task, but nothing ever shakes them from the care, love and adoptions they provide. They are warm and friendly and extremely knowledgeable about each animal in their care. If you want to adopt a precious animal, they make the process very easy and understandable. Again if your not sure about the adoption process, simple call before you go, or they’ll be glad to cover everything with you once you’re there. Thank you Leon County Humane Society for all you do for these beautiful babies and for making the community a better place for us all!!
I absolutely adore LCHS! Their program with A-Loft connected me to my rescue boy! Theyre a major asset to our communitys pets.
I had a wonderful experience with the Leon County Humane Society. The staff were available and helpful without being pushy. The cats were all in wonderful health, well socialized, and very happy to have visitors. I was able to spend time with my potential kitty both in a private room and in a group setting to observe him with other cats. The adoption process was quick, organized, and pleasant. We have been in love with our cat Toby every since day one! Would definitely return here if were going to adopt another pet!
LCHS is a fantastic place to find the next cuddly addition to your home. The staff and volunteers are insightful, dedicated, and just amazing. We adopted a male tabby cat from them and were amazed by the attention and care given to him during his time in the program. Thankful for our cat and all the work this organization is doing to save animals lives in the community. This is a great place to adopt your next pet, donate to help with the mission, and volunteer some time!
I cant say enough great things about Leon County Humane Society. The staff are beyond kind, helpful, knowledgeable and overall caring about their animals getting a great new life. You can clearly see that all of the animals they foster are comfortable and taken care of very well. They seem to know each animals individual personality by heart making placement of each and every animal nearly a perfect match. The facility is beyond clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend LCHS if youre looking to adopt.
First off, almost everyone who gave this place a bad review were mad because they werent chosen to adopt an animal. I love this place! Ive worked closely in and out of this humane society for over a year now and I wouldnt rather work anywhere else! I am a kitten foster mom, Ive fostered 20 kittens so far and I have watched each one go to amazing families! I have always been given all the supplies I need to give these foster babies good lives while they stay with me and all have been given the best veterinary care possible. Both the cat foster coordinator Deidre and the dog foster coordinator Amy are amazing and caring women who truly love these animals and go out of their way to make sure they are all taken care of.Being of the other side of the adoption process, I can say from experience that every kitten is different and some times need different types of homes. People have come in wanting an animal(most of the time based primarily on how they look) and are then found by the staff to not be the right home for that dog or cat. They dont get chosen, get mad, go online and write a bad google review. Its sad and unfortunate because many of them dont come back for another cat who they might be perfect for.Point is, this humane society is 100% committed to saving animals and giving them a successful adoption.
Great people and service 🐕🦺
Absolutely love this place! Wonderful people and place. I adopted my cat from here many years ago. Recently, he was lost after dashing out the door (he is an indoor cat). These wonderful people, received my cat that was found and through his microchip was sent back to his home adoption center. I was able to get him back because of all of this. They love and take care of their animals. I highly recommend this wonderful place.
So fast efficient and affordable. I get my Chihuahuas nails clipped there
Very helpful! We were looking for just the right fit dog, but didnt really connect with the first dog we met. Martha, the lady fostering the dog was still extremely supportive and continued to follow-up with us until we found our dog. All I can say is thank you.
I adopted my sweet kitty cat, Kit Kat, one year ago from the LCHS. The volunteers at both the main shelter and the Tally Cat Cafe were very patient and helpful. They genuinely care about the well being of these animals and understand the importance of ensuring each adoption is a good fit for human and companion. Deirdre was so sweet and helpful during our adoption process. Adopting was the best decision I’ve ever made!
Theyve been there to help me out, when I most NEEDED them. Ill be back. I thank Rabbi Wedding for the help information for this ORGANIZATION! God send!!
Words fail to describe how incredible the Leon County Humane Society is. The work they do is amazing, because they are a no-kill shelter and they do everything in their power to take care of animals and find them loving homes. I adopted my Chihuahua Lucy almost a year ago, and my life has absolutely changed for the better. Lucys foster mom is still very much involved in her life, and she is always willing to help me out with her whenever I need an extra hand. I also really appreciate the Humane Societys adoption process, because it shows just how much care they take to make sure their pets find a forever home. I wish there were more places like this to take care of all those animals that are otherwise euthanized in other shelters. The world needs more places that work as hard as the Humane Society to save all the animals in need.
They have such a passion for what they do and the place is always clean and welcoming. The cats are loved and cared for and it just feels like a comfortable place to walk through or sit at your own pace. They have a down stairs section as well with some of the older cats and I highly recommend checking out that room
They never returned my calls. Many messages left about a specific cat. The moment I filled out the application form, the status on the cat was adoption pending. Was never informed someone else trying to adopt same cat. Now, the cat isnt even listed as adopted. Something fishy going on. Very very disappointed in their promises. Poor communication, management
Adopted a cat and the process was top notch. The staff were super and you can really tell they care about the animals. It was clean and the animals had plenty of room in their cages. Props to Deidre!
This place has some of the most caring and loving people! We adopted a large dog and named her Bella! We are very pleased with the whole adoption process and the support from the shelter. We love our new family member and she definitely has a forever home! Thanks to all of the staff and volunteers, you are awesome!
Wonderful place. We have been members for many years. They really care about their animals and in finding them a good home. This is a no-kill shelter.
I went with my grown daughter and her husband to adopt a kitten. It is always a treat to visit the Humane Society. Everyone was very professional and the kitten is precious. They are very organized and thorough! It was a successful visit.
They have the cutest dogs and cats. If you are looking for a fur baby make sure to adopt. They need a good home.
Every dog was a pitbull or a pitbull mix, or unhealthy looking. Wont go back. Those are all dogs that someone owned, then decided that they would rather put them in a place that will put them to sleep, rather than keep living with them. Its dog jail, where each dog is up for the death penalty, and I see why. Definitely get what you pay for. Go rescue group or private breeder.
Best 🐕 adoption I have ever encountered. Im 63. Their pets are fully cared for and come with all vaccines, spayed/neutered. Callar and leash. Heart wormed, defleaed. Treated for any medical proplems. Micro chipped. Best experience I have ever had. Please support their cause!!!
A very thorough and helpful organization! Martha was a great foster mom to my chihuahua and she offered a lot assistance to make sure both me and my dog were prepared for our new life. Thanks LCHS!
Its a kill shelter
Ive adopted two dogs and fostered one. Great experience! I love my pups. Their staff is thoughtful and well intentioned always going in the best interest of the animals. Id recommend them and their fun events if you are looking for a companion animal!
Not at this particular location, but near Tom Brown Park nearly 9yrs. ago I adopted, Buddy Cat. He is so sweet! My experience was great. Save a life, and enhance yours! 😘
The humane society is very kind and helpful they also provide vouchers for spay and neutering they allow you to receive dog food and cat food once a month
LCHS is by far one of the most organized and caring humane societies Ive had the pleasure of working with. All of the staff and volunteers are so kind hearted and the animals in their care are treated with the utmost care and respect. I cant say enough kind words about this organization. Thank you LCHS for everything you do for our community and the amazing animals in your care.
Ridiculously awful staff and customer service. My boyfriend is graduating college and getting his own place very shortly and was interested in adopting a cat. While at the shelter, he found a kitten he absolutely loved. We went up to the front counter to ask what the next steps for adopting were, and we stood there for a solid minute until I said excuse me while two women were talking with their backs to us having a conversation...at the front reception desk. The lady looked at us holding the cat and continued her conversation.Regardless, my boyfriend really wanted the kitten and we submitted an online adoption form before even leaving the parking lot as they were closing Thursday night. We saw the following day that there was a pending adoption for the kitten. We later found out the kitten was adopted the following day, which leads me to believe they didnt spend much time looking at our application considering we submitted it Thursday night. Either way, we received no information as to whether our application was accepted or denied until we called and asked for it ourselves. We called Monday morning and the woman in charge of cat adoptions did not answer the phone, twice. She called us back as was very rude. She asked if there were any other animals living with us and we said there is a dog who is often at our house, because it is one of the other roomates girlfriends dog, but she does not live at this house. Upon telling her there was a dog that is often here visiting, but isnt registered to live at this apartment number, we were accused of changing our story. If you want to be grilled on your adequacy as a pet owner, and have employees talk down to you like your incompetent, youve come to the right place. It is absolutely no way to conduct business, especially at an adoption agency.
Super nice place. Employees were very nice and very helpful. Gave me additional information to address an issue we are having in my neighborhood. Thank you.
I love this place! The foster parents are very serious about choosing the right person for their adoptable pets, which just goes to show how much they care. Although it took a little bit of time its all worth it to find the right pet for you. I adopted my chihuahua Teddy about 3 months ago and I love him more than anything. I would recommend adopting from LCHS to anyone looking for a pet!
These people are God sent. They took my foster cat from me and made an exception if not taking animals from the public for me. They truly care about animals and it is too amazing. Words cant express how grateful I am for this place. Amazing people. Amazing hearts.
I hate to base this review on interactions with just two people but since they were brutally honest with me, I figure I should only show the same courtesy as people should know what they’re about to experience...If you are willing, ready and prepared to go through a process similar to that of a human adoption all while being made to feel be littled, challenged and being made out to feel inadequate, this adoption agency is for you. After speaking with the adoption director, and being grilled, about a rescue I was trying to adopt, it left me feeling like I was in “trouble” for something (in trouble for what, I have yet to figure out). The conversation also left me feeling that my yard, type of fencing and the surrounding natural environment (we live in the country on 20 acres with fencing) was inadequate for the dog I was trying to adopt let alone any of their other dogs. They really put me through the ringer despite the fact that I know I’m an excellent pet owner who has 20 acres of adequate space, fencing, can care for, who trains, loves and respect animals and who has references to prove it.What’s even more ridiculous is that the pup we were wanting and trying to adopt went to a home with no fencing of any kind in the property. This is one of the most strict and most picky pet adoption agencies I have ever seen, heard of, and experienced. I’m sure they have their reasons and I understand why they need to have certain requirements and qualifications because of these pups backgrounds. However, I found most of the requirements, questions and suggestions bogus and completely irrelevant to being a good pet owner who will provide a good loving home especially in comparison to their life before being rescued. This experience in and of itself literally made me feel pushed away from rescuing and more towards purchase a fresh brand new puppy purely because of the loops, stress, and expectations they put you through. To top it off, their adoptions are way over priced for the amount of mental and emotional stress they put you through.... and that price also comes with a hefty contract with some pretty absurd conditions and stipulations such as dropping in whenever they want after adoption has been finalized just to “check-in” and make sure YOUR pet is being taken care of “properly.” And if you aren’t in compliance of the contract (meaning up to their standards) legal action can be taken... they are simply too strict with too many strings attached. Needless to say, I didn’t end up adopting from them nor will I ever.To sum up, I didn’t know that you have to meet certain requirements, criteria, and qualifications for doing something good let alone saving a life. So disappointed in my experience with this pet rescue and will never again put myself through this process where their agency is concerned.Good luck to everyone else who dare venturing with this rescue.
Great people with good communication
I loved my experience with them! They were so kind and helpful in finding the right fit for my family! Martha spent so much time helping Us get prepared. You can tell they really care about the dogs in their care!
The website is easy to navigate.
I really admire their work. Their offices are super nice and homey. It gives you hope got those little pets.
Going to visit the Humane Society is a highlight for my three year olds. The staff is always friendly and happy to have us visit and interact with the animals. We decided to foster and Deirdre has been great to work with throughout the process. The kids love having animals to love on & we love being able to help these animals get a good start before being adopted.
Adopted Pip, a black and white kitten, in December. Pip has CH but you would never know by the way she acts. She is a little awkward sometime but not much. She is the best cat we have EVER had. I have only heard her hiss once since we have had her. She is always purring. The staff was excellent when we came to adopt her. The foster family was good at answering any questions we had before we came to adopt her. Thank you for the most fun cat ever.
They take such good care of of the animals. We love our puppy.
The best customer service in the world an awesome people who really care about the animals...
Amazing. Adopted my Dog Penny back in January. She was house trained, knows how to fetch, and amazing with all people. Staff was very nice as well. Going to be getting a second dog soon!
I really wanted to support this place. I never got to adopt a pet from here. The person I was working with to adopt told me they emailed my landlord. This doesnt make any sense as an email is never provided. So I called all week. Yesterday, I called and the adoption person was out and I explained my situation to the front desk. The front desk told me that normally they call, which makes more sense.Heres the issue, I harassed my landlord about an email/call they never recieved. Then the person doing my adoption was meant to call me back and she never did. You continued to try and make me jump through very unnecessary hoops to adopt a cat. I got to the point of being extremely frustrated and went elsewhere. They did the adoption for me in less than 30 minutes. If you want animals to be adopted, make it so people can adopt them. I do not reccomended this place on a customer service level. I just wanted to have an ESA animal and you made it impossible. No one called me back and no one made the effort to work with me.Im happy others were able to have a good experience with you. Im unfortunately not this case. I truly wanted to adopt some of the cats you had available, but not anymore. You lost my service and appreciation due to terrible customer service.I will not be recommending you to others. I appreciate the effort you are making as an organization, but not the work you are doing for citizens trying to adopt. Many others understand my frustration and that is very sad.Note: No one ever contacted my landlord and pets are allowed in my housing. I told them I had an ESA letter, not that i was getting one. I told you over the phone that my landlord was okay with this. I repeat, no one ever contacted my landlord. My landlord understood what an ESA letter meant and I was allowed to adopt. No one ever called me back when I called. No one ever said they called my landlord. I know you didnt because my landlord told me. I was told you EMAILED my landlord. There was no email from you. I did absolutely everything to get a cat from you guys. I tried to jump through every hoop, but I cannot do that when no one calls me or my landlord.Another note: I did not apply 4 days ago. I applied 5 days ago. You didnt call me till 4 days ago. I also contacted you yesterday and told you I had an ESA Letter and the person in charge of my adoption never called me back.
We have been fostering with the humane society for several about 4 years and I have loved the opportunity to do so! Its been great to work with the staff and volunteers. They all have huge hearts for these animals. We also adopted one of our cats from them, and he continues to be the best cat ever!
Excellent staff, Im in love with my beautiful kitten I got from them. Really neat and clean place. They take good care of the animals.
Wonderful caring people at LCHS. We adopted the cutest dog ftom them only after going thru a fair and complete interview. Martha Walton was the foster mom of our Bella. Bellas care, safety and love was Mathas main concern snd showed in the care she gave Bella too. Keep up the good work LCHS and please check them out if looking for a forever pet!
I foster animals for them sometimes, & they are really responsive, caring, & dedicated. Plus the kittens are super cute. I value, too, that they make sure every baby goes to a good home.
Lady was very nice and said she would put flyer s up for me to find my cat
Love the kitty room. And everyone is so nice and helpful. Best place to find a new companion.
We are very fortunate to have an organization like the humane society who have the sacrificial heart to rescue and care for discarded and needy animals. They go the extra mile to find forever, loving homes for these pets. I have witnessed first hand the painstakingly long hours they put in whether it is bottle feeding newborns, waiting hours for a scared stray to come to them, or nursing them back to health, the animals are their first concern. Thanks!
Great community approach. Clearly they understand the concept of unity and sharing with those in need.
Great and understanding staff. Wonderful veterinarian. Would recommend to anyone seeking a great service and wonderful accommodations for their four legged friend.
I am a huge pet lover and over the past year or so, have been looking to adopt a pet. I first went in October and one of the staff members made me feel unwelcomed and wouldnt allow me to meet/play with a dog in the designated meeting area because I wasnt definitely adopting which didnt mean that I absolutely was not going to adopt. I was genuinely interested in the dog and I wasnt trying to waste her time at all. But I figured maybe she was having a bad day and I ended up leaving. I came back today with my roommates who are also interested in adopting and this time the staff was rude as well. They thought we were college kids just trying to play with animals (Im sure that happens a lot but regardless no one should be treated differently) and were very rude and not helpful in anyway. Ive been to many humane societies and have always had positive experiences because normally people who work at them are trying to have animals adopted. This is not the case here. It made me not want to adopt from there or really go there ever again. Also, they need better signs as one of the cat adoption areas had the door wide open and no sign saying we werent allowed inand an employee came and essentially yelled at us for being in there like we were somehow supposed to know...it definitely couldve been handled differently. Its just honestly ridiculous how rude the staff is there especially when there are many qualified people that would be happy and nice that could be working there instead. Regardless, I will never go there again.
Thank you Leon County Humane Society.I recieved the best gift and friend in the world when I got Ebby(Michele)from your organization. The volunteers and staff are wonderful and helpful.Helped find the perfect dog for me.It was love at first sight.Ebby has brought pure joy to our lives. Thanks again .
Bad customer service. I went in there today, and told the young man that I would like to see one of their dogs. A German Shepard to be exact. I was told dog is in Forster Care, but he doesnt know where. I wasnt help anymore help after this. I wont recommend this place to anybody .
I hope too get a dog here
Dropped off some donations for the Puppy Mill Survivors. The Humane Society took in 76 dogs from a Georgian Puppy Mill. They do great work and really care about the animals!
Nice selection great care decent prices
I was recently interested in a dog. After filling out the information, I was contacted about the pup. Before even talking much to the person over the phone, she was very rude and cut me off. She basically told me I wasnt a good fit for the dog before even talking to me. I was very upset about this interaction. There was no chance to even talk about being able to care for the pet. I dont think someones ability to care for an animal should be solely based off of a questionnaire online.

Very pleasant experience adopting our pet
Had a very unprofessional experience with this humane society. Expressed interest in a dog through the online application and it took over a week to hear from a representative. Finally, I met with the foster and the dog and the interaction went well. The foster and I spoke about setting up a home meeting so we could see how the adopted dog got along with my current dog at my home. Never heard back from the foster or the humane society. Sent emails and called to check on the process and was treated rudely and they never followed up on my inquiries. The dog is STILL up for adoption and as far as I know there was no reason they could not proceed with the adoption. I understand if I was simply not a match for that dog and they did not want to proceed with that adoption, that would be fine. However, this was never communicated to me and overall the experience was disappointing, unprofessional, and rude. If you are looking to adopt a dog from the area, I highly recommend the Bainbridge Humane Society.
