I was in and out of the dump. All employees were friendly and efficient. I dumped a bunch of wood and drywall and some bags of garbage from my remodel project.

This facility is equipped to allow people to dispose of several different types of garbage. They recycle glass and cardboard, but people can also dispose of other types of garbage. Not sure about furniture or TVs bit anything else provided its not hazardous etc, is allowed. The process is very easy for a first time user, the staff appear willing to help out someone who is new to the process. Best of all the cost is not that bad for city 😉 Tacoma residents its $20 for 40 lbs (they ask for ID) its not the most run place Ive ever been to but it is a dump after all. But appears efficiently run and not as as I was expecting.

Cannot go there if you arent a Tacoma resident. Thats about the dumbest thing ever...especially when you are a contractor. This means you have to sit in traffic and what should be a 45 min cycle turns into a 2+ hour endeavor. Way to screw things up. What dumb beaurocrat dreamed this one up?

Was in and out today cleaned up was able to get rid of none saleable items.My time line says 18 minutes from start to pay.Terrific .Covid cleaning.

The city of Tacoma website states: The Recycle Center at the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen Street) may be used by all Pierce County residents. Glass drop-off locations for Pierce County residents can be found here. Though when I arrived I was told that for the past year the location was for Tacoma residents only.

My wife and I have been keen recyclers for years. As Tacoma citizens, we make an effort to recycle. Our facility is top notch, efficient and friendly. It is streamlined. It has become a pleasant drive and pleasant chore. It is really the best! If you are eligible and wondering, take a chance and participate. It is really a very good county service that becomes a good and satisfying habit, and helps our county to improve our quality of life tremendously. Please get involved.

Bring your glass since pickup is unavailable. Also bring debris from home or yard not very expensive. Based on weight.

Saw a guy dump... Then Go put loads and loads of yard waste into his van.. Then paid 40 bucks Only... Drive outside the place and drop it off by the street. Sneaky sneaky.

I went to the Tacoma recovery and transfer center I checked the website beforehand and it didnt say anything about any restrictions and I go to the gate and the person working there said that I cannot come in because I do not live in Tacoma and I asked them if they posted anything on the website and no and they told me that I have to go to Puyallup to dump all of my stuff and do yellow biz closed now this dump site is supposefor all Pierce County residents and I was denied entry

Whew! Was able to recycle batteries, shredding, styrofoam, glass, plastic bags and cardboard. Spring cleaning .... Im ahead of schedule.

Great customer service. Check their website before going if you’re planning on recycling during COVID. There are certain days when the recycle center is closed. Also break down all of your boxes before you leave home to make things easier to separate upon arrival.

Ive worked in the recycling business for several years up until the pandemic. And I have to say that this recycling and transfer center is the best I have seen in the local area. Sure, the one in King County at Bow Lake is a close 2nd but how can you compete with FREE YARD WASTE DISPOSAL! You cant.Best place to dump or recycle!

I like our citys waste management facility. I frequently come here to do my recycling. It would be really cool if they had such a nice recycling center closer to me but until then Ill keep coming here. Sometimes some of the employees are a little cranky but they will still usually answer your questions. The thing I like the least is that no body is ever smiling here ☹️

These people are thieves they charged me $166 to dump some yard waste. And the lady at the scale shack was so rude ad un helpful.

Got a flat tire while I was there, discovered that my lug wrench missing. One of there guys, Alan, showed up and fashioned a lug wrench using an ratchet and the handle on a set of bolts cutters. He definitely went above and beyond.

Usually quick, and easy but some people customers are slow at the scales and there can be delays but if you know the system there cant be many hang ups.Two lines with one for yard waste and the other for house refuse would be a great idea and certainly an estimation could be made for weight if need be found the yard or another way of handling the issue of weight.Just doesnt make sense to wait for an opportunity to dump waste and you are saving the city money by doing this yourself.

As a contractor in the Tacoma area, efficiently getting rid of job site debris is important. They take everything. We drop off our cardboard, water heaters, styrofoam, and other recycling before the garbage. Always in and out faster than anywhere else.

This is a great place to dump trash and yard waste because you can throw it on the ground and do not have to work around a rope!

I never have a problem at the facility but man, slow your trucks down in the residential neighborhoods. One of your trucks not making any stops just flew down A. St..no stops just like they were late to lunch. Too many kids on our street and inattentive drivers backing out of their driveway to be in that much of a hurry. When they hit the speed hump it sounded like the truck was gonna fall apart. Slow down, drive like your kids are around.

Im not sure how people can complain about a FREE site for recycling just about anything, including hazardous materials. Its well organized and clearly labelled. Bins are emptied regularly.The cost for disposal of garbage (whatever you cant recycle) is pretty reasonable. The staff that manage the disposal area are friendly and funny,

I wish the website would show how to change the size of a customers garbage bin. The site provides the rates and sizes, but leaves it to the customers imagination as to how to accomplish the change. Ive been pleased with their service on the days when Ive actually gone there.

We pay for these little garbage cans you provide for 2 weeks, then when the garbage man comes he cant take the extra garbage bag that I had in my hand. $15 to take a bag on the spot not calling in to have you come back, but on the spot.I thought the customer was always right. Guess not in waste management.

Very reasonable prices. To all those who are complaining... its the Dump people... I mean really it is. Dont ask questions that are already answered on the price board. Do your research prior to going there. Overall great organization, way better then the ones in King County.

Website says closes at 6, got there at 5:31 and was told it was closed and to come back next day. Came back the next day and was told they would not accept yard waste that day.

Had a flat tire and the maintenance crew brought the truck and aired me up so I could make it out and to a repair shop.

Highly approve of the proactive environmental policies of the Solid Waste Dept. Everyone friendly and helpful. Love to check out whats happening in the Enviro-house gardens, and cant wait to see which pair of retro sunglasses the scale-house lady will be wearing next.

I do appreciate the large recycling processing plan they have. Clean grounds, flows nicely.

I have been a residential customer as well as commercial customer for years. Solid Waste is very consistent, clean, and thorough with their regular pick ups. They also are very responsive for special pick ups (like furniture), roll-on dumpsters, and every one of the dozens of staff Ive worked with have been friendly and professional.

This is the best by far in my experience~ Not just cardboard and cans, but organized everything in one place; from attended Goodwill trucks, packing peanuts & styrofoam blocks, glass and plastic. Weigh scale staff have attitudes and yard waste pricing is insane. If you live in a condo in Tacoma you’ll be required to pay. I took a truck bed load of yard waste for a friend(from his home in Tacoma) and they charged $94.... smh

Awesome dump, no flat tires, happy, efficient people, a place to dispose of or recycle every conceivable thing except latex paint. (Just keep painting until its gone.)

This place is a dump!Built on the site of the old Tacoma Landfill, this transfer station and recycling boasts state-of-the-art sorting facilities for recyclables. Friendly, unkept personnel man the toxic waste center. Kisd will squeal with delight at the garbage trucks rumbling round the site. A safe, fun family outing.

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! The customer service at the scale/reception is RUDE inconsiderate and do not answer even the most basic of questions! They Charged me trash disposal rates for a load of clean wood pallets and I was then told to put them in a separate RECYCLING BIN??? SERIOUSLY? I feel like I was ROBBED and the toll booth operator flat out IGNORED MY QUESTIONS! $94 ....... Also; if you bring them more than a small bag of recyclable materials they WILL send you in to PAY FOR IT as standard trash.Watch for the GOLDEN EAGLE who lives in their DUMP! I have seen it on several occasions.Dont forget to bring your CAMERA!

Terrible customer service. They dont follow their own pick up schedule. Im constantly and consistently calling the office for a missed pick up. Annettte will make up excuses and give lame explanations. If I could file a complaint with the UTC I would have a long time ago. This PUD IS THE WORST.

The customer service staff is HORRIBLE! The recycle truck has not picked up my bin in 2 months. I get a letter from the city about glass in my driveway but the recycle company is not taking it. So i call and she blames me for it. She tells me I waited to long to call her... I CALLED HER WHILE THEY WERE INFRONT OF MY HOUSE. I really wish we could choose our trash company.

I looked on the website to what time they closed and also to ask a question so I called and got no answer on the website it says open till 6 I called again this time I got an answering machine and it says they are closed and closed at 4 got it together not happy
