James was a really great guy helped me out alot and answered all the questions I had.James helped me get on the road quickly and made sure I had the right trailer to use for the things I was moving.I will definitely be coming back to this place again
Owner also runs Wapato UHaul from this location but cant seem to have someone there at all to pick up the phone. If you want to be completely ignored but your money still be taken, this is the place for you.Completely unprofessional. Go to the Pacific Avenue UHaul; they dont overcharge you like this place does.
Im sitting in the trauma room trying to make a payment as my collapsed lung is being pumped back into place and the guy who answers the phone puts me on hold multiple times while Im trying to tell him its urgent I pay my bill so I can rest and try to recover however he ignores what Im trying to say because a person at the front desk is more important than someone like me...
Very slow and bad customer service. Scheduled a pick up time, got there and they said my reserved time was not on their system. They did not have the equipment that they said they did. Asked them to cancel whatever I did, hours later I get a phone call from uhaul telling me they didn’t cancel anything.
For any problems call the store, not the main u-haul number. When I called the store they are nice caring and helpful at this location.The u-haul corporate changed my drop off location without my permission. Before I called the nice people at the store I tried calling the main number, big mistake the lady was nasty and uncaring. She told me in the end you can drop off wherever I want. I ask so you are not going to change me any additional fees then. She told me I can not guarantee that.Feeling cheated and used. As a last effort I called the store instead and the lady there was so nice and actually cared. She turned my whole experience with uhaul bad into a great experience. Thank you so much!
A fantastic place! We picked up a truck using their contactless service. The truck was very clean, we didnt have to go in to get the key, and the final cost was less than the quote. Weve also used this location several times years ago and had similar positive experiences.Other UHaul locations in the state always get something wrong, but this place has never let us down. Having the truck rental go smoothly is one less stress when youre moving.

Staff is negligent beyond any kind of excuse. I’m about to move and they managed to screw up my engine with a simple tow prep service. Their wiring got stuck in my engine and severed the serpentine belt, and my vehicle barely made it a mile down the road. They didn’t even replace the cover on my battery. DO NOT use these guys for any type of service on your vehicle because they do not care about your safety.
If you like making a reservation a week in advance only to find out you won’t have a truck on your move day, then I highly recommend this place. It was so wonderful to call at 9:30pm the night before our move, wait on hold for 30 minutes, just to be told that “Sorry people just aren’t moving to Washington so inventory is too low, and we don’t have any trucks in your region.” The joy I felt when I realized that we wouldn’t have a moving truck less than 11 hours before my scheduled pick up, leaving no time to find a replacement is indescribable. I’m so glad moving is always a flexible life event that takes no planning or any help from others! Thanks Uhaul for always reminding me that things can always be worse :)
Very rude and unprofessional we wanted to rent a truck from this location so we could move very unprofessional tho he does not need to be working with other people terrible with customers I would recommend this place to Anybody never even got the truck this location is terrible to try to get a u-haul from.
Update to Review: I was contacted by the U-Haul regional office and they resolved my issue within 24 hours, getting me a trailer so I could resume my trip. I was appreciative that they stepped in and took care of me.Original Review: The rude and dismissive owner provided terrible service.James was unfriendly from the beginning. I asked several questions and his answers were curt and uninformative. I got the impression that he didnt want my business.We went out to attach the trailer to my truck and he told me that the brake lights werent working. When I asked him if it was my truck or the trailer, he said that it was my truck. I questioned this and asked if the trailer could be checked and he repeated that it was my truck. He referred me to the Lakewood location to get my truck wiring repaired and they confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my truck, it must have been the trailer. Unfortunately, I was not able to get another trailer rental and I had to delay my trip because of James.
After calling and listening to the prerecorded message that states, “to keep our promise with you this call will be recorded” making a reservation to have a service done the following day. I requested to stay with my vehicle while it was being done. This after reading reviews of someone just having their car broke into at this location. The reservation was to be at 9am with a completion time 11am. Upon arriving and being told to park my vehicle where I suspect the car that was broke into had parked not so long ago. Around the corner and out of sight of the operating business in the alley way. I went into the shop and was told immediately that my vehicle will be ready at 7pm. Me “What you say?””That’s right. Here at this facility we don’t have the staff nor do make promises to have your car done in 2hrs. We have to many customers and you will need to leave us you car until 7pm” Get your staff and policies up to date and use a calendar 🗓 people. A two hour job should be penciled in and a approximate time of when during that day it should be done. Not to mention that I’m here from Portland to pick up a trailer which I had planned on returning back to Portland by 4pm. Way to go 12th and J and the friendly, misinformed uhaul staff that booked my reservation. Oh, and when completing my reservation I was disconnected while attempting to write down my reservation number. Tried to call back to no avail and no call back to make sure I got it. Your store was aware of the reservation. How hard would it be to let administration know that you can’t accept a time sensitive reservation? Better yet, get your act together and learn to schedule. It’s called time management. Called customer service and asked about the prerecorded message that says, “to keep our promise with you this call will be recorded” and asked why they would even mention it? All I got was, “sorry about that. Would you like us to email you?” Consumer beware
Ive used them locally and have always had a mixed experience. I usually rent a trailer and have to almost always argue with whatever new person is there that the trailer lights arent working because of the trailer wiring, not my vehicles. It doesnt look like either U-haul in general, does a good job checking and maintaining the wiring for their trailers; which someone could take as a sign that if they dont do that, then they might not maintain their vehicles well either, but ive never had a problem with a U-haul vehicle rental.My last trailer rental experience was good, but again, only because I had to consistently tell them it wasnt my cars wiring that the trailer brake lights werent working. After another 45 minutes of waiting, the worker was able to diagnose and repair the trailers wiring and I got to use it. However, whoever this girl was, she was amazing. She came back with an electrical toolkit, measured the current on the harness with a multimeter, confirmed mine, cut open the trailers wiring, spliced a new connection in, and taped it off within 20 minutes. Just the fact alone that she believed me because my trailer adapter has lights on it that confirm its getting voltage was above and beyond what I normally experience. The previous time before that, when i had the same experience, the worker at that point told me there was nothing they could do and I was forced to rent a vehicle instead of getting the trailer. To be fair, at that time the worker tried another trailer and it also had the same malfunctioning lights (back to back trailer wirings that didnt work which is why he gave up) which should clearly tell you just how much they do not maintain their trailers. So it all depends on whoever is working at the time. It goes without saying...vehicle rentals cost more in addition to gas so this franchised Uhaul location makes more money by not maintaining their trailers.*some tips on towing trailers: 1) make sure your car is off when connecting the harness so as not to potentially blow a fuse, and 2) some cars have to have the headlights on for the trailer lights to work. 3) if using a trailer wiring adapter, purchase one with built in lights that act as circuit testers so that you know there is power being delivered to the adapter. 4) dont leave the adapter on afterwards (people steal them).They have good prices on moving material in the store, dollys you can rent, and you can even returned unused boxes. Just dont expect hotel like customer service.

They didnt have the truck we reserved for our move and the guy at the desk didnt care at all. In fact, while we were struggling to figure out what we were going to do. He actually left us at the counter and started working on a personal car, absolutely dismissing us while we stood there.He didnt apologize for leaving us high and dry without a truck to move with. He didnt offer any suggestions. There were other trucks in the lot, but those werent offered at all, nor was there an explanation why.Do NOT rent from this location.They think theyre the only rental in town, and theyre totally unapologetic about adding unnecessary stress to a paying customers already highly stressful moving ituation.
I always use this U-haul for boxes and trucks. I have never had a problem. Today I checked in without even speaking with an employee, only using my phone. It was super easy. A week earlier I went in to buy boxes and some packing bubbles and reserved a truck just in case. Well, I ended up needing the truck and like I said I picked it up just using my phone. It was so easy. The truck was clean and operated smoothly. I dropped it off even easier, I just dropped it off and left the key with the employee. I will always go to this U-Haul never another one. I suppose other ones are just as fine but Ive always liked this one in particular.
Negative no stars :This is year 2 of lack of communication with this place my first time they wouldn’t take prepaid debit card or capital one or credit union cards only key bank or US bank so I had to bring my 85 yr old grandma up there to get my Uhaul just to use her card. Then today I call to push back my pick up time the lady says that’s fine and I still have to return it at same time I was fine with that asked about the policy for payment she said debit credit or cash is accepted and prepaid as well unless I’m in Canada the policies are different I came in today they had no documentation of me arriving later and told me if someone else pays they have to be the driver that’s complete BS I wish they would get there info correct I will not be returning they did not have good customer service I am usually really nice but that pissed me off. Waste of time
The team here is AWESOME. Ask for Erik. The truck was ready to go and all paperwork/sign-ups, etc. were easily taken care of and explained. On the return of the truck, it was just as simple and quick. Will definitely be returning for future business.
If I could give 0 I would. Wow seriously avoid this place if possible. Went up here 3 times for a trailer hitch, and called and scheduled appointments before hand and every time they claimed I hadn’t scheduled. Even though I had the email to prove it. Then they said oh we are too busy. Which is odd because the first time I scheduled the customer service rep said oh it’s good you are scheduling because otherwise they have nothing scheduled. I bought the wiring for the hitch in advance because they said they sometimes run out. They finally did it and charged me twice for the wires. I called and complained and they said the manager Sergio would call within an hour but he never did. The customer service representative also stated it would take about 1 hour and it took four. Stay away worst place to rent!

When you do the mobile service pucking up your truck and equipment is super fast and easy.
We had to use this location after the original location scheduled ended up being closed for a holiday. Absolutely excellent service, even entertaining my 3 year olds nonsensical chit-chat during the process. When we returned the truck I was beyond exhausted and barely seeing straight, so I was very grateful Inspection took all of 2 minutes and we were on our way. Friendly, efficient, and reasonably priced, what more could you ask?

Rented a dozen of trailers from different Uhauls and this location the general manager wouldnt hook up a 6X12 trailer to a 2018 Ram 1500 because he didnt know the tow rating and refused to look it up..What an absolute joke of an establishment. Went down the road and they hooked us up with no hassle.
This is the worst uhaul facility I have ever rented from first they say that they need a card on file well that was fine I had no issue with that I used the truck for approximately 2hours returned then the lady said I can pay cash so I did my total was $35 I paid it well the people also ran my card so they got a total of $70 from me not including the fees my bank charged ans now everyone I have spoken too are acting like they are stupid day its just a hold Im clearly showing them its not a hold that the payment went through and was processed in my account so they basically beat me $105 and dont wanna refund my money so I suggest you dont ever rent from these raggedy people I shouldve known better looking at the area they are in and me being in a hurry I needed to get the truck but it is a hard lesson to learn please dont make the mistake I made they want $100 cash deposit do that dont give them your card cause now Im sitting here wishing I wouldve just gave the the cash deposit vauca looking back would have been easier
Very friendly, helpful, and efficient staff. Clean and orderly office/storefront. Vehicle fleet all appears to be kept in great condition. Parking is the only real issue, but you can park at the Safeway across the intersection if you need to.
The first day I went the chick pretty rudely told us that we would have to go to federal way to get ANY trucks. We declined and tried again the next weekend. I reserved online ahead of time but when I got there, I was suprised that I couldnt pay for a truck while my boyfriend was driving the vehicle, even if they already had my card on file and I was present. It forced us to go all the way to the bank and have to put a ton of extra money into his account to cover the astronomical price of the 20 dollar (actually 100 dollar) truck. And to top it off, the manager and employee working were talking nonchalantly about how hard they had partied the night before at a coworkers and the other about how hungover they were from wine and vodka mixing etc. It wasnt the worst experience but it definitely wasnt professional and needed a lot of improvement in the customer service department. And maybe think about making it so folks can HELP people pay for uhauls but who wont be driving the actual vehicle. It was a headache.The truck was clean. The place was clean. It was just a pretty weird and impersonal experience.
Awful, they refused to honor appointment which was scheduled and confirmed. No offer to assist, nothing. I still have not heard back from the general manager. Absolutely horrible customer service experience.Update one week later -the GM Sergio has not contacted us despite several requests. They still have our money and we have nothing for it.
Scheduled a uhaul at this location for 8am only to be told upon arrival that it will not be available until noon. The individual helping us was James. He was extremely rude and acted as if he had better things to do. He gave a irritated, impatient look while giving short answers. His coworkers Tyler however was extremely helpful, he found us a new truck at another location and we were able to finish our move. The lack of professionalism and service provided by James was purely unacceptable and I hope that it is corrected as it made a rather stressful situation even more stressful, instead of providing a pleasant experience for a paying customer. I will also be reporting my experience to a supervisor. In the end, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
We were quoted $50 to rent a 17 truck for half a day. When we showed up we were told we were getting a 15 truck and it would be $100. The staff were completely unwilling to offer any explanation as to why our reservation was altered without notice. When we did get the truck the interior was coated with dirt, but we were told 6 times to make sure WE sweep out the interior to avoid service charges. We asked if we could keep the truck longer since we were getting a smaller truck. They said, No, that truck is being rented out again at 1:30 so we need it back at 1. Besides, youre only missing two feet. Terrible service. My girlfriend and I will not be returning.

Generally good for getting a van, a pickup, or a box truck on reasonable notice. Its not a mystery why theyre a ubiquitous chain. If something goes wrong though, youre going to experience a real Jekyll and Hyde transition.I had a slow tire leak on a rented van, so I filled it to capacity and drove it on back for repair or exchange. They referred me to their roadside assistance network -- while I was literally blocking their return bay with my now-defunct rental -- which took about two hours to get a contractor out to change the spare. The Uhaul contractor broke the internal tire pressure monitor system during the change and did a sloppy job securing the bad tire, creating a mobile hazard I took all around town before I discovered it was hanging loose.For my trouble, they knocked down my rental fee a bit. I understand why they use contractors for roadside assistance, but I really shouldnt have to double check their work or risk killing somebody with a flying tire.
Stopped by to get our propane tanks refilled,didnt even make it fully in the door before the girl at the front desk blasted us with her bad attitude. She states that she is apparently is the only one certified to handle proprane before we can even speak. She was extremely rude about it and in general had a really bad attitude. Wont be going back to this store for ANYTHING in the future.
The most rudest customer service i have ever experienced in my entire life. The manager is so mean. They dont have over night drop box they will not take the truck back until the n3xt day so option is to leave your vehicle in a bad neighborhood over night. Im never coming back

Honest mistake, went here instead of the actual Tacoma UHaul location I reserved a truck at; this location is closest to my house and I thought I had selected this place. I didn’t read my email thoroughly enough. I waited in line like everyone else on a Saturday morning, which I am assuming is always a busy day and time at any UHaul location. We got to the front, I had my reservation/order number printed out. The woman at the counter asked me for my phone number, tried twice and nothing came up so I asked if she could look up the order number listed on the sheet I printed from the reservation portal online. The issue here is that she looked up my phone number once and simply looked at me at said, “No.” Gave it to her again to be sure, met with another short “no.” I had to ask her if there was another way to look up my reservation because she didn’t offer to search with even my name after the two no’s. I then handed her the sheet I had printed after making my reservation and she unfolds it and starts to clarify what the sheet means and what the information means to her and how it basically doesn’t mean anything. At this point, I’m like LOOK, you have a line to get through and you are helping me, do I have a reservation here or not? Then I showed her the email and noticed we were at the wrong location. I was so frustrated because as my boyfriend and I were waiting in line, we heard her and the one other person, seemingly, working there saying things like, “This is the last time I’m ever working a Saturday again.” I was so pumped to reach the front to interact with those attitudes. Like outright and within earshot of everyone in line, while they were actively helping people!! I’m sorry, if you don’t want to work in customer service, go work in a factory or data entry position. We didn’t realize our error and it would have been extremely helpful if maybe she could have been nicer about it? If there was even a smile or thank you or an I’m sorry, it would been have better than type type type, no, type type type no. Not even a so sorry for your trouble...I know it was my fault that we went to the wrong location but does that mean we should have to be treated like we are inconveniencing someone that WORKS FOR a business we are PAYING? I’ve worked in customer service and smiled outside even though I was screaming and cussing inside. It’s not that hard to remain collected and cordial. Practice makes perfect.Ultimately, I would suggest for everyone to go see Josh and his team at the Tacoma Dome location the next time you need a UHaul. Wished we would have realized we went to the wrong location so we could have saved the frustration of interacting with the woman at this location. He was awesome and I will also write an awesome review for him at that location.

Very poor costumer service first lady hung up on us and the second was a complete idiot. We have a chevy blazer that is UPGRADED TOO TOW . we needed vehicle tow dolly and she kept telling us the computer said no we cant because our car is too light. A COMPUTER NOT A PERSON THAT KNOWS AND HAS THE KNOWLEDGE NEEDED. She wouldnt listen at all we have 3 mechanics in the house that have extensive knowledge in vehicles. That have lost our families business because their lack of coustumer serivce due them being completly incompetent
