YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS HERE - PROFESSIONAL AND CARING PEOPLE RUN THIS PLACE AND IT SHOWS. I brought my 17 year old dog into this clinic after she had a very minor surgery on her lip from a Federal Way vet clinic and she somehow became paralyzed from that. I fail to understand how that happened but know I will never receive an honest answer for fear of another lawsuit. This was an emergency visit, and even though they were at capacity when I called, I explained the circumstance, the staff at Summit Vet cared enough to listen and they agreed to allow me to bring her in despite being at capacity.GOD BLESS YOU FOR CARING ENOUGH ABOUT ANIMALS THAT YOU MADE ROOM FOR my Ms Bessie. THANK YOU for that.I absolutely positively did not like that I was not allowed in for the initial consult due to their policy, as after I had entrusted my beloved girl to another clinic, the end result was tragic outside of my presence so trusting someone else was very stressful but I had no choice. The prognosis, my girl was paralyzed and I had to decide on surgery (not good considering her elderly age of 17) or allow her to cross the bridge. Horribly difficult and heartbreaking events for the end of a very happy, sweet loyal and loving dogs life. She was the light of my life and she is terribly missed. She did not deserve that. I will never wrap my head around how a minor lip surgery could paralyze a dog. When the decision was made to put her out of her misery, I was allowed to come in and spent her last moments with her.The oncologist was wonderful, very sweet gal that loved animals and it showed. She made Bessie comfortable prior to the end. I held her little head in my hand and her paw in the other as she left her old worn out tent behind. I really appreciate working with a staff of stellar professionals who really do care about our precious animals.I found these professionals to be compassionate, understanding with empathy at one of the most difficult times of my life.I chose to return to pick up her cremated remains, which were encased in a beautiful wooden box. I received two beautifully written sympathy cards. I am very grateful I found Summit Veterinary Referral Center. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for being there for us when we needed you to be.

Brought my cat here for an echocardiogram to follow up on a potentially enlarged heart. They were able to get me in relatively quickly compared to all the other cardiology specialists I reached out to, for which I was very grateful. All the staff were very kind and professional and they explained up front how the visit would proceed with all the COVID precautions in place. (They have clearly thought a lot about how to keep their clients and staff safe and it shows.) I appreciated the time the staff took getting my cats medical history and listening to my concerns. Dr. Nadolny who performed the echocardiogram was awesome: very friendly and personable. I would definitely recommend Summit Vet and was very pleased with my experience there.

Every single staff member went above and beyond. I can’t express how impressed I am with the staff of Summit Veterinary. I am so thankful for their willingness to thoroughly explain everything that was going on with our pet, answer all of our questions, and the fact we were able to speak directly to the vet taking care of our animal multiple times a day. My cat needed 2-3 days of inpatient stay and they were amazing. Unfortunately, I’ve visited another pet hospital in the area and they don’t even compare to the efficiency and professionalism of Summit Veterinary. Thank you thank you thank you! I can’t recommend Summit Veterinary Clinic enough. After our 4 year old dog suddenly was unable to use her back legs, we rushed to the clinic and they got us in right away after explaining the details over the phone. They quickly diagnosed her herniated disc and recommended surgery for the level of herniation. During one of the hardest moments I’ve experienced, Summit was nothing but kind, compassionate and informative on the situation. Our dog went in during COVID, so we unfortunately couldn’t be with her throughout the process, but the staff always kept us informed and up-to -date and even sent us pictures!😊Paisley ended up staying 2 nights at the hospital then was released to go back home. After the surgery, Dr. Demuth followed up multiple times and answered all questions about recovery and how to avoid any injuries in the future. We are now at the 7 week post surgery mark and our little Paisley is well on her way to a full recovery. I can’t thank this clinic enough for saving our pup. She is the light of our life and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the amazing staff and doctors at this clinic. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I am so happy with the staff and doctor at Summit. I had taken my cat to an emergency vet in Olympia (Summit was unable to see her as they were full). She was declining rapidly. The vet in Olympia guaranteed that she was ok, gave her some fluids and sent her home ($200 later). She began to get worse and I took a chance and called Summit and explained the situation. Not only were they able to get her in right away, they were kind and gave me all of my options. Unfortunately, we ended up deciding to humanely euthanize, which they let me come back and sit with her the entire time. They were kind to me and treated me with respect even during the hard decision. I very much appreciate them!!

Even though they were near capacity, they made the effort to triage my kitty within 30 minutes of our arrival. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and you can tell immediately they truly care about the animals they treat. My cat ended up needing to stay overnight for an IV, extra monitoring, and beginning the treatment for diabetes.Dr. Denny took great care of our cat, ensured we were informed about the status of treatment, and provided guidance for at-home diabetes management and next steps. He had to stay overnight but they communicated with me frequently and let me know exactly what was going on. In March 2020, our dog was diagnosed with lymphoma. Our primary vet gave us a referral here. We came in and were treated so well. They throughly went through all of our options for our dog while not denying the sad truth of what lymphoma means to dogs. We were so fortunate to be in a place where we could give him the best treatment available. My boy Odin made it through chemo. He went into remission and for a while had no signs of cancer. During every visit, we felt safe leaving our dog in their care. In Feb 2021 he came out of remission. Again they told us our options from there. We tried different treatments, when a new treatment came out, they were so generous and we tried that. It worked only briefly. Through every check up, I knew they truly loved my very weird and sweet Odin. We got a year and a half we wouldnt have had where our boy was happy, playful and seemingly healthy thanks to the wonderful team at summit. Lymphoma is not curable and today we had to say goodbye. As sad as I am, there are no words to express the gratitude to the team here for the time they gave us with him, with no discomfort to his life. If we had to do it all over again, there is nothing we would change. Ill never regret a dollar we spent, it was more than worth it. They care and love all their patients.

I was surprised to learn ALL lobby surfaces were wiped clean with disinfecting wipes, and this was way before covid! And any other surfaces, mopped, or sprayed with disinfectant. The entire building is always spotless because it gets cleaned and disinfected very well, or at least a few years ago it was. Save your time and go somewhere else. Your pet may just die waiting. I dont usually do reviews. Good or bad I tend to never but hear me out here.I have a feeling a lot of these 5 star reviews are fake to counter the recent bad ones.We call ahead of time because our puppy was barfing all day. They told us we can drop the dog off and leave and they will call us back. What actually happened? We arrive and have to wait an hour just to get a lady to come out and give us a clipboard. She then leaves and doesnt come back for another 45 minutes. Then almost another hour passes by and a tech come out to test our dog fir Provo before bringing her in ( They do this to all dogs under two years old). We are told the test takes 10 minutes so they will let us know then. We asked if we can leave after that and she told us its best to wait. By now we had no faith that they would even get to us within 2 hours.Almost another hour passes by and we start calling the number we called earlier and no one is picking up. 5 missed calls in a 20 minute span after we waited almost an hour to hear back about the test. Finally we press the emergency option and get someone on the phone and we are placed on hold for 10 minutes. They eventually take us off hold and tell us the dog tested negative for Provo and that they will bring her in.30(ish) minutes pass by and nothing. We call again and tell them that its taking a long time and that we are just going to wait for our vet since it was only a few hours away from opening. We are told to hold on so they can charge us for the Provo test and we are on hold again for another 15 minutes! We hang up expecting a call back but no call so we drove off and still a day later there was no call back.We understand that other animals were in dire need. We arent expecting them to skip and see our dog early. What we expect is calls and updates. The front desk just vanished most of the night and couldnt be bothered to check in at all with us. We read the other reviews and it looks to be a common issue in the last couple of months and misdiagnoses as well.If you ever feel like waiting at the hospital for yourself sucks, just go to this vet place and watch the night and day difference. The staff needs to be fired or retrained.

My second trip to Summit Hospital this year. Very pleased with the care at Summit. The level of care here is above and beyond all of the other hospitals Ive been to. My dog was refusing to drink water or eat. The problem was quickly diagnosed, and he was home with me that night with medication. The bill was lower than I expected. They did not run unnecessary, costly tests. They gave me options for testing and let me know what they felt would provide the most accurate information. In addition to the excellent care they provided my dog, they have little extras that, in my book, place them over and above the other hospitals. They had collapsible water bowls and fresh water for people and their pets waiting in cars. They had Luxury toilets trailered in for clients. They kept things moving. It was very busy that day and they had a very nice, efficient system set up to keep things moving. As busy as it was, I did not feel like I was waiting longer than what was necessary. The entire staff was friendly, caring and very professional. My first visit to Summit was for my other dog. Sadly, she had to be euthanized that night. I have always had my dogs euthanized at home because of old memories of vet office euthanasia. It used to be a horrible, traumatic experience. She had a bad heart problem and It had finally run its course. She would probably not have made it home. I was very upset about having to do that in the hospital. They took such good care of me and my dog. That was oddly a much better experience than the home euthanasia. Its a long drive for me but well worth it. This will be my go to hospital for any emergencies my veterinarian cant take care of.

My experience here was fantastic. I have worked in the vet field my entire adult life. My senior cat recently had an episode where she became unable to stand and was extremely weak very suddenly. She was admitted into the ER and was able to see both a cardiologist and a neurologist within 24 hours. After a couple days there, she was able to come home with the expectation there would be a LOT of nursing care. After about a day I was starting to worry she wouldn’t recover and called the clinic. The vet on staff was able to talk to me and we agreed to give her a few more days at home since she was comfortable and it was still early to be expecting her to be walking around like normal. I am so glad I called and didn’t decide to euthanize her. She’s now doing great! She’s walking around almost completely normally with just a little bit of a stilted gait and occasional unbalance. I am so grateful they were able to help us. I’ve seen a lot working in vet medicine and it’s always different when it’s your own. The staff was amazing and were truly rooting for him. They made sure he was comfortable until the very end and were also so kind and comforting to me and my husband. I miss my boy and wish things had turned out differently but I would still recommend Summit 10 times out of 10.Also, please thank your veterinary staff regardless of where you go. They seemed genuinely shocked when I thanked them for their efforts. They care for our furry family members and deal with so much heartbreak every day. Thank them for what they do for our little friends.

My little Rusty boy had surgery on his eye yesterday. I cant put into words how grateful I am for the care that we all received from everyone at Summit Vet. Dr. Kice is a very talented ophthalmologist. I am amazed that Rustys eyelid looks just like it did before the tumor attached to it. Heather took Rusty from me and even with all of the Covid restrictions ensured me that she would use their blankets to keep him warm and cozy before and after his surgery. I hate leaving him and get anxious when he has to receive anesthesia but this was something that had to be done and Summit proved again to be the best choice. The attention to detail and time Heather took to go through his post operative care was amazing. Thank You Summit, I would give you 10 stars if I could!!!

After spending over 2k for my dog to stay overnight in the hospital for monitoring, what seemed to really have happened is that he sat in his own pee for who knows how long. I suspect he was whining and wanted to go out, but instead of taking him out, they gave him trazodone. I picked him up damp with urine and an ear infection from all the moisture. My high score is related to Dr. McCord in IM who is amazing! Kind, professional and knowledgeable. I am grateful for Summit, the staff is friendly (for the most part) in a time where there is a lot of stress for pet owners. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed!!!

Got nothing but good things to say about this Veterinarian. My puppy, Odin, all of a sudden wouldnt put weight on his back leg. My regular Veterinarian was double booked and couldnt get him in til following day. This was something I felt like needed immediate attention. I brought him to Summit with the referral of my girlfriend and within 5minutes they came out with a gurney to bring him inside. Wasnt too thrilled with the 2-3 hour wait time I sat in my car to get an update, but they found the problem(pasteurella infection of left back leg) and hes been doing a whole lot better now thanks to the team @ Summit Veterinarian Referral Center.

Dr. Brim and the other vets and staff were top notch. They kept me apprised of my cats condition consistently over a three day stay. Our cat was quite ill, and Dr. Brim et. al were compassionate and skilled. I cannot say enough about what what excellent care our feline family member received. I felt as though they cared for her as if she were their own. I am filled with gratitude. A++++!

I cant say enough positive things about this place. There werent any cardiology vet clinics that would see my dog in Seattle. I was growing increasingly worried about her and it felt like no one would help. Enter Summit Veterinary who was able to get me in for an appointment next day. They were wonderful and took a lot of time to explain what was going on with my dog. I cant thank them enough and would highly recommend them for all veterinary care services!

There is so much to unpack here that I am almost lost for words. Our 5 year old dachshund had a rapidly developed neurological condition that turned out to be between her 2nd and 3rd vertebre and we had no idea what caused it as she had not taken a spill or had a specific injury... We are from Chicago. My wife was stranded in Hillsboro Oregon, two and a half hours away from your clinic, and I in Chicago. Maddie first limped with weakness, that rapidly deteriorated in five days to total immobility and terrible pain requiring neurosurgery. My wife was literally falling apart because Maddie was rapidly deteriorating.Everyone at your clinic dropped what they were doing and fit us in. The after hours staff actually made it possible for us to come that evening 2.5 hours to your clinic. We ended up waiting until early the next morning to be safe driving. Maddie had an exam confirming our suspicions, and we spoke directly with the neurologist who gave us an understanding of what was happening and a course of treatment. We were terrified because these little dogs are like our children. They literally go everywhere with us. The Neuro was so confident of her exam diagnosis she indicated they wanted to confirm with an mri and go right into surgery without having to sedate her twice. I have to sing praises also to the Vet Techs and the front of house staff whom gave us updates and sent us text message photos with those updates. It calmed us down a lot that we could see Maddie sleeping peacefully after the surgery instead of the horrible pain she had been in. We got a call before and after the surgery from the Neurologist whom explained what she saw and the treatment she gave.I flew out today to help, and they advised the best course of action for her recovery and follow up visit. We so appreciate the handholding we got and the fine work by your entire practice.I would not hesitate to reccommend your services. It FELT like we were treated extra special because of our being from out of town but the more I think about it, I am sure it is the way you treat all your patients and patients families. You and your staff are a blessing to our family.

I cant speak highly enough for Summit. You can see they genuinely care for your pet and you with politeness and respect. They make time to explain things completely so you understand exactly what you want to know. For those who dont realize it, it is a tremendous specialty center that you might not be able to find anywhere else, and because of that they are able to have the latest equipment. If you want the best for your pet in an emergency or need for specialty services (cardiology, neurology, and many more) you cant do better in the whole of Western Washington.

I had an emergency situation with my cat so I took it to Summit because they’re an emergency veterinarian and because of Covid I had to sit in my hot car it was 72° that day while they did whatever they did in the six hours that I was there I received two phone calls one asking me if they could do x-rays because they’re $375and the second one to tell me what they think is wrong with my pets and that they were getting ready to do discharge it was another 2 1/2 hours and three phone calls from me before they finally brought my pet back out they were not clear on instructions on how to take care of him once I took him home because I asked everything that they said was a red flag he was already doing they said you’ll know when it’s dire not correct I brought him in because it was dire anyway my pet died the next day I was told I would get a phone call in 48 hours explaining the urinalysis that they took that took 11 days and four phone calls for me to get I am not happy at all. I’ll total the vet visit was $750 and to have my cat cremated after that was $160 and the food and things I bought in the interim cost me money as well so it was $1000 weekend to end up with a pet that was only 16 months old dying on me ultimately the vet said he has no idea why

When our beloved dogs end of life came sooner than we hoped, Summit made time to see her, helped us get her set for one more good day, and then helped us transition her to her next adventure. The vet was compassionate, and our babys end of life transition was quick and kind. No decision was made without our approval, so there were no surprises. They really seemed to try to be caring despite covid restrictions making things so impersonal these days. Nobody wants to say goodbye to their loved pet, so its important that it is at least a good goodbye. Summit was able to give us that. I wouldnt choose any other emergency vet.

My small dog (15 lb), Sofia, collapsed when I returned home from work one day. I rushed her to the emergency veterinary hospital, where she was diagnosed with pancreatitis. On xray, the veterinarian said she could see a dark mass behind Sofias stomach. She referred Sofia to Summit Veterinary Referral Center.I immediately drove the hour + to the hospital and she was admitted promptly. A couple of hours later, the emergency doctor called and gently told me that things looked very sad for Sofia. She needed emergency surgery to remove a foreign object in her intestine, or she would not make it. I approved the surgery, and the surgeons successfully removed a wad of string-like material from her intestines. She developed a seroma (collection of fluid) in her belly, and a fever. She recovered, though, and I was able to bring her home five days later. They gave me excellent discharge instructions--easy to understand and follow. She was discharged on seven medications--each one critical to Sofias recovery. I was worried for the first few days, but she improved daily. Today, two weeks later, her appetite has returned, she is frisky, and the hole in her tummy where the fluid was leaking from is healing. Ive had to call a couple of times to ask about food, and the assistants are so nice. Dr. Loomis was Sofias primary surgeon, and she was wonderful. She explained in clear language what was happening with Sofia. I am so grateful for them for saving Sofias life. So grateful. If your pet has a serious medical problem, I would definitely recommend them.

My husband and I have gone to Summit for many years. We had a Doberman who lost use in her back legs from wobblers disease, they took great care of her. Our grate Dane was diagnosed with bone cancer in her front leg, unfortunately the leg had to be amputated, without Summit we would not have had her for the two additional years we got to love her. Our pug was a very old man and had kidney disease, they actually have a referral for a dietitian, she put him on a special home made food that was just his diet. With this we got to enjoy him longer as well. But recently, we got a new fur baby, she woke up sick, throwing up, lethargic small temp, would not eat or drink. Yes they took her right in, but was not addressed for 2-3 hours, I feel this is to long to wait for her to be seen. Per them she was put in a kennel, she just laid there didn’t whine and just slept. Well of course she didn’t feel good. When I finally heard from the dr. 6.5 hours later, I was told she was just dehydrated, of course she was she couldn’t keep anything down! I believe she was ignored because she was being so good ( but puppy yorkie’s do not act like she was ) they are very active and big trouble makers. They did not take the time to check as soon as they took her in.When I finally got her back they had given her “a camel hump” and some anti-nausea pills and told to keep her on a bland diet, but also that in the near future she will need to have surgery on her knees because they pop out of joint. We didn’t even bring her in for that, we have not noticed anything wrong with her walking, running, jumping etc.in conclusion my husband I believe in Summit but also feel they have gotten too big for their shoes. We are hoping that they do not turn into a assembly line like other vets/hospitals have. The passion we had witnessed in the past did not seem to be there. We will go back though, they are miracle workers with our furry friends, the bedside manner just needs to be found again.

The staff at Summit are truly extraordinary. I do not have the words to explain how kind and empathetic they are. In taking care of my pup as his condition worsened, they were extremely professional and unfailingly kind. Dr. Zug was our attending physician, and I was extremely impressed with her demeanor, attention to detail, and ability to clearly communicate complex medical terms in simple ways. But most telling of all was the way that my dog responded to her care. Winston had experiences with several different vets, and it was clear to me that he was comfortable at Summit and trusted the team. His behavior and attitude confirmed my own feelings about the Summit team - they are absolutely the best around, and I trust them wholeheartedly. Thank you Summit team for walking with us through a tough time!
