My family has been going here for a few years now. This place is fantastic. The staff have always been friendly and professional. Sometimes I don’t know exactly what I want, and Ani was great at helping me figure it out. Liz is great with my kids, and Jana has given me amazing cuts. One of the things that I really love about Supernova is that they do razor cuts. Another thing I like is that their online booking is so easy. I just pick my time, I get my confirmation e-mail, and the day before I get a reminder text.For concerns about how things are being handled during the virus, I was given a number to call when I arrived (for check in). When I got to the door I was given a temperature check, masks were worn by all, and everyone was properly spaced out.

Absolutely 💯 my favorite queer punk stylists ever. Stop searching and make an appointment with then now. Ani is my stylist and I wont go to anyone else ever again.I had the same Seattle stylist 5 years and when I moved out across the bridge last year it was terrified because it meant that Id have to find another stylist. A friend of mine recommended Supernova Salon as a great queer shop to support and I was not disappointed.The shop is fantastic, eclectic beautiful artwork on the walls (some by the stylists!), a riot of color and passion for all sorts of communities that need support. Their COVID protocols are tight (thank you!), and their stylists know their stuff!!I found the perfect fit for me with Ani - I love the chill and grounded vibes they bring to the chair and Ive done three very different styles with them going from super long to super short. They hit the mark EVERY TIME. I always get tons of compliments on the cuts from all different kinds of folks.Ive also gotten the opportunity to sit and watch/listen/see multiple other artists at work. And they are artists- varying areas of expertise, great with clients, super personable and helpful, efficient while being detailed oriented and not stopping until its just right, and look to be exceptional with the bright vibrant color jobs.

I’ve been to quite a few barbers in the Tacoma and Seattle area and Supernova barbershop always keeps me coming back. All the employees are super chill, and really know how to create a welcoming environment. All of the barbers there are very talented individuals that can handle just about any cut you throw at them, but Shane is my go to. He never fails to impress! I just moved to the SeaTac area from out of state and had been looking for a new salon. This place had great reviews, so I gave it a try...they did not disappoint. Liz was so friendly and easy to talk to. I gave her dealers choice on my haircut and styling after only giving her a few vague ideas, and its seriously one of my favorite haircuts. She even recommended great products when I asked for some hair care help. Ill definitely be returning!

Best barber for sure! Shane was a badass!! totally chill guy to talk to...even though I was by myself in there it was still a cool environment..he knew exactly what kind if cut I was looking for. Definitely will be my new barber oh and yes it was my first time there needed to find a new barber as it was my first time having to look for oje since I moved to Tacoma. I am writing this review because someone has to say something. Supernova Barbershop is a PREMIER shop in Tacoma and the ONLY one I will recommend to my friends and family. The owner is an awesome guy and he really works hard to maintain a positive vibe. Now, Id also like to talk about the only barber i will go and see there. Tito, is by far the best barber i have ever come across, he always goes above and beyond to make sure I and other customers are well treated when in his chair. i HIGHLY recommend going to supernova barbershop and seeing TITO!

I get my hair cut by Shane. He a real solid and personable guy. Very professional and has a great attention to detail. Also the only person to cut my hair and not stab my head with the guard on his clippers.The rest of the staff are just as friendly and shop has a great atmosphere.

Shane has cut my hair several times, and I always leave looking great. His attention to detail, and personable attitude go way above and beyond. The shop is clean and organized and feels safe to be inside of during Covid as all the employees and customers do a good job of following the mask mandate. Best fresh cuts in Tacoma. Donny keeps me and my beard looking sharp. While this shop has adapted very well to COVID restrictions, its really Donnys attitude towards keeping his customers safe that helps Supernova stand out. Been a customer for 3 years and look forward to many more!

Had an appointment today 3/17 and they close the store in the morning due to a COVID scare (the salon receptionist informed me) and I didn’t receive a call or text saying that the store was closed and or my appointment was canceled. I drove 40 minutes out of my way to make it there because i loves the work you guys do But That was an unprofessional move .

I just moved back to the area and picking a new stylists is always a headache. Luckily I got Ani and it was an amazing job start to finish. You could really see a pride in doing things right and not cutting corners. The shop is very clean and well equipped with a real funky PNW feel.

Got my hair cut by Liz and she is fantastic, she gave me exactly what I wanted. Everyone there has great, positive energy. The shop is aesthetically pleasing and they even have a shop cat 😻

The best haircut experience I have ever had. The guy who cut my hair, Tito, was absolutely the nicest person and the other guy who was there with him, Shane, was so fun to have hanging out while I got my haircut. I don’t plan on getting my haircut from anywhere else ever again.

The review I left was under my name the appointment was under my girlfriends name Deserae Johnson she had an appointment at two she showed up and the salon lady with the bangs told her that the barbershop was closed due to a Covid scare. she was at the right location bc the lady at the salon was able to look up her name. She was Schedule to get her hair hair cut by Nate and the nice lady conversated about how awesome Nate is. So You guys are not open and did not email call or text that her appointment was going to be canceled. I’ve tried to call multiple times and no one answered. Very very unprofessional

Shane was awesome! We let him just go on our son’s head and Shane gave him an incredible style! He also gave Joe care and styling tips. He is the only barber cutting Joe’s hair from now on.

Kinda disappointed. Initially, took my daughter to this place for a haircut and consult on a color. This place has amazing reviews and the pricing was normal for the area. The colorist quoted $170 for the color, which is what I pay at other salons, and 50 deposit (2.5 hours in the chair). My daughters hair is just below her ears and virgin hair. We go back for the appointment, she did an amazing job and she was friendly BUT when we go to pay its now $300?! Baffled why the price jumped so high (she spent 3 hrs on her hair) and not wanting to cause a scene in front on my kid, I paid and left. Very disappointed in a bait and switch!

I have gotten my hair cut by Maddy every couple of months for 3 years and Ill never leave! With my anxiety changing hair stylists or salons is still something I cant do, so to have her welcome me in every time and remember my haircut saves me from my usual panic over small things like this. I have never left with hair I hate, I appreciate how welcoming this salon is, Thank you Maddy!

Update. The service and people are amazing people. Since theyve moved, the quality isnt matching the price that has gone up. I can get comparable hair cuts for much less, and the last one I got was very similar to a super cuts dew.

Just finished up my first appointment with Jana, and I could not be more pleased! I went in for a trim and to add layers to my medium-length hair and it turned out awesome. I love the laid back atmosphere - you can tell that everyone who works there loves what they do and where they work. Cant wait to book again!

Love this place! Showed them a few pictures of what I wanted and they did what I asked for.. Theyre very chill and laid back. They do have a salon cat. They keep it so clean in there! Very good prices. Hopefully my next appointment will be to color my hair. Would definitely recommend.

What a treat it is to go to Supernova Hair Salon North Vancouver. All the staff are in sync to make you feel welcome. Every time Ive gone, I have come back satisfied. This time it was Dora who pampered me with head massage and a fabulous new hair style. She took the time for a full consultation and personalized a cut and color to fit me perfectly. The Salon is beautiful and spacious and I never hesitate to recommend a visit to anyone. A 5 star all the way !!

Simply unprofessional. I asked if walk in was available, told to return in 1 hour for my cut, I did and returned 10 min early, then waited for another 1 hour with no acknowledgement from staff or any update. 2 hours total as potential customer and employees are too busy on phones or smoke breaks to give me time of day, so I did not create issue but quietly walked out. Thus the 1 star for poor service. Response from owner in comments seems appropriate.

I have been seeing Tito here once every few weeks for a little under a year now. I am consistently happy with my haircuts and he is very friendly and conversational. Ive always had trouble finding a barber that I want to stick with and its nice to finally have one that I feel comfortable and confident going to.

I love this place. I was in the Army and have cut my own hair for over 20 years but these guys make me comfortable and confident that they will make me look as well as I could at a very reasonable price.

Ive been going here on and off for years back when they only used the front room. It is a pleasant experience most of the time. Unfortunately my favorite stylist moved up North but the vibe is usually very chill and I appreciate when they offer a beer during my appointment. Sometimes though the vibe is very different - a little stand offish and cold. I dont know if its specific stylists or what it is. Prices are great and its normally a winner!

Some people are good at cutting hair, some people are good at coloring hair, and very few people are good at being honest with you about what will look good on you given your hair, face, etc. Liz Wilson has an amazing talent for all three! I can’t recommend her enough. I asked her to do some detailed coloring and cutting, and brought in some photos. We talked through what would be best given my fine hair and she absolutely nailed it. Her attention to detail clearly indicates that she loves what she does!

Kendra cut my three year old sons hair and she was incredible! Getting a hair cut for my son is extremely traumatic due to a dog attack that lead to a long hospitalization. Kendra made my son feel SO comfortable, cool, and at ease. He sat still the entire time, loved the experience, felt so comfortable, and didn’t cry/ get upset once. I can’t tell you how huge this was for us!! She worked with him and didn’t use clippers. I tried a kids salon thinking that would help and boy were we wrong. Bad hair cut and over stimulated. The vibe here was so chill and the people were friendly. He loved the monster cape, the kitty cat, and the sick KISS poster lol. Thanks Kendra you were awesome!

This was my first experience at a barber shop. I usually cut my own hair with a trusty pair of clippers, several guards, and a mirror... so, obviously I think they do a great job. But seriously, the barber made sure he knew exactly what I wanted and he delivered. Mad skills with a straight razor! I wanted something other than a high & tight that Ive been getting since the military. So I let it grow and let the barber work some magic. I loved my haircut, and even better, my wife loved it. The beard shape and trim was a little less impressive. To be honest, it was a bit disappointing. Such meticulous care and precision was taken in the haircut - it was darn near perfection - and then he got to the beard and just grabbed some clippers and raked it across my face real quick. My beard was uneven in places to start with, but I still left the barber shop with an uneven beard ... just a lot shorter. One whole section of hair was completely missed. It only took a few minutes after I got home to touch it up.Ill definitely go back as a return customer - but probably for the haircut only.

Ive been there with my grandson a couple times and saw Ashley Beth both times, she did a wonderful job on my grandsons hair. She is very nice and personable, I will be going next week to see her too have my hair cut and highlighted. I highly recommend Supernova and Ashley Beth.

I loved working with Kendra. She did not waste time ($70) by the hour instead of paying for the type of coloring you get. I went about it by saying these are the colors I want, I dont want you to really color these areas but otherwise, I will leave it up to you. She did a great job and I kid you not, I get compliments every day for the way she colored my hair. She is super cool and would recommend to anyone.

I walked in without an appointment and was promptly greeted and told Tito would help me out. I waited maybe 20 mins and he hooked me up with a great beard trim and a buzz cut. Best haircut in town, hands down. All the barbers are super experienced. I always feel a little more confident after a haircut from there. Fantastic straight razor shave, with lots of prep with plenty of hot towels.

I went to supernova for the first time today, based on a friends recommendation. It was super easy to make a online appointment, and over all, the place was really nice. It seemed to me that all of the barbers really knew what they were doing, and were producing really nice results. My barber was Rex, and although I was unshure of what I wanted, he did a great job and gave me the best haircut I have ever gotten. 10/10 would recommend that everyone checks this place out. Also, it was only $25, $30 with tip, which I think was really reasonable for the quality of the clip.

Ive gone here twice so far and have loved both visits! Kendra does an amazing job; shes such a professional and a lovely person to chat with as well! She executes my hair goals above and beyond what I expect every time. I always leave incredibly happy with my hair. I highly recommend her for bleaching/toning/short hair cuts.

Staff are great and really listen to what you are looking for in a style. Very talented colorists who can keep things simple out go all out with color. I have never had a bad haircut from this shop. Bonus point, they also have an adorable kitty that hangs out with you while you wait!
