I really enjoyed his skills with cutting hair. Im a black man and he did my cut with perfection. Definitely going back and suggest this place to anyone.
Came in got a beard trim and hair cut. Came out looking clean and dude was good at conversation making it a pleasant experience
Dont waste your time or money. The owner Champion Barber Pete thinks he is award winning at haircuts, but isnt really. Couldnt even do my simple haircut. Then tried to charge me $27 for a 5 minute haircut. The owner is rude and yelled at me. I didnt like this place at all.
All of his reviews are fake. He doesn’t even know to do a fade properly. Had to cut off all of hair because of him. Please save your money and go somewhere else
Ive been coming to see Pete here for about 3 years now and theres a reason i keep coming back. When your barber wears a full suit to work each day you expect excellence and Pete delivers. After three years i felt i had to leave him an awesome review. His hair cuts last long while keeping the shape and stay clean with minimal maintenance. His classic barber shop atmosphere is fun and makes you feel like youre actually treating yourself. He recommends switching up my beard/facial hair here and there to keep me looking sharp and does a great job lining up my beard each time. He hangs all his awards and trophies around his shop not to brag, but to show that your getting a high quality cut! Petes knowledge of hair and what will look best on each person is why he has return clients much longer than my tenure of coming to see him. I highly recommend Pete for anyone who wants a quality cut and someone fun to joke with!
Hands down the best haircut money can buy. Pete is a master of his craft. Get to know him and you will get more that the best haircut you ever had.
Pete is the real deal, and hell take good care of you. I ended up hanging out with him for about an hour. He pointed me in the direction of some good food just down the way. Ill be coming back for sure next time Im in Tacoma. Best haircut Ive had in 20 years. Plus Pete has a wealth of knowledge, from wilderness survival to jazz saxophone, and a few good jokes to boot. Thanks Pete, see you next time!
Awesome barber shop in north Eugene. John does a great job of producing exactly what you ask. Very personable. Someone Id call a friend and a great barber. The price point is well beyond reasonable and the end result is better than anywhere else with the single blade neck shave to cap it off. Id recommend 10/10
Been going here for about two years back when he was in the freight house square. New shop on pac ave is way better and he really enjoys the new spot. Great no nonsense cut and beard trim for $32. Its more than I was used to paying, but worth it for the atmosphere and his barber knowledge he will part onto you (how to style or tips and tricks on what to do with it). Call ahead because he’s usually more booked that not but can usually fit you in same day if you cant book to far in advance. All around great guy but if you make an appointment time you better be there on time (couple minutes early) as your wasting him time and money if you don’t show which is pretty rude.
Not just a barber. Pete is a fine craftsman who is great at what he does! If you ever want a professional job done that will leave you feeling different, Petes your guy.
Pete is the best barber Ive ever been too, and I wont be going anywhere else as long as I live in Washington State. Old school quality and worth every bit of the price. Exponentially better then the Great Clips type of garbage service.
Pete is an old school high end Barber. There are none better and few as good. He is not cheap, but the price is not crazy ether. If you are going to a hair stylist now, instead of a barber. Then he is cheap and probably a lot better. Do you honestly think your high priced beauty school grad is experienced with beards? The truth is she doesnt do a lot of mens haircuts, shaves or anything male. Go to a top barber like Pete instead and see the difference.
Pete’s (barber) the real deal. Old skool. If you want a quick, cheap haircut, don’t go to Thee Barber Shop.He takes his time. He gets to know the shape of your head. He looks for how your hair grows— he got rid of a pesky cowlick that no other barber could take care of.He’s awesome.EDIT: Arrive early!!!! Parking can be scarce, especially when they’re doing construction.
Pete is a true master of his craft and possesses a wealth of knowledge on many topics. If youre looking for a great cut, skip the chain salon chop shops and visit Thee Barber Shop in downtown Tacoma. Get a superior haircut and a true barbershop experience.
Pete is a high end Barber. You get what you pay for ..last of the Old school barber shops. When you walk in. Your at Home ..Peace
Ive been going to Pete for 25 years. Always a great haircut, and talking jazz with him makes the visit even better.
Beat barber I have found. Great haircuts, shaves, and conversations. Hes cash only, so plan ahead and bring the greenbacks.
Pete is great! Convenient location, interesting guy to talk to and great haircut. Ill be coming back!
Thee Barber Shop is a place that immediately transports you back to, what I can only imagine, how it was like visiting a barber back 50s-60s. Both gentlemen, Pete Lira and his son Cheyenne R. Johnson, greeted me at the door as I entered. Although they work by appointment only, they were able to work me into their schedule since I am a new customer and had no idea. The first thing you notice is that each of them is wearing a suit - I already feel reassured I walked into the right place. The shop itself is small, maybe 10x20 room with two chairs. There is small waiting area that is littered with magazines, and a desk in the corner where all the business is handled. Music is blaring from an old radio, its on an oldies station apparently - think Otis Redding. On this visit, my first, I intended to only get a hot-shave. Because I was essentially a walk-in, Pete was already busy with a customer so Cheyenne would be the one working with me today. So, this review comes with a caveat, I did not receive a haircut or shave from Pete - who is a State, National, & World Champion Barber - but from his son Cheyenne, who happens to be a State and National Champion himself. However, the actual service-&-experience may vary depending on whose chair you decide to sit.Shave begins with two hot lathers and towels in order to prepare the skin. Ive had different barbers begin with different formulas, but this worked all the same - and did I mention how great a hot towel feels on the face? Next comes the 3rd hot lather and the actual shave. The shave itself was good, the blade (a straight razor) was sharp, and Cheyenne proceeded to make my mug baby smooth. I did experience some irritation as he went through his 3rd pass on my face but I think that is pretty typical. Next would be the final hot lather and towel, a facial massage, and then finished with some sort of aftershave. This is where I feel it could have been better, or at least, Ive experienced better. The aftershave stung quite a bit which leads me to believe it was alcohol-based. I prefer rose-water and the like, as it is better for the skin... or at least that is what Ive been told by other barbers... and it makes my skin feel much better after the close shave.Lastly, to finish off the old barber shop vibe, they only accept cash here. I did not know this but Cheyenne was kind enough to point me in the direction of the Bank of America (literally around the corner) - I suspect this happens quite often with new customers. The damage was $26 dollars and took roughly 30-40 minutes. In my opinion, its well worth it and a great way spend your lunch hour relaxing in an reclined chair.Between not taking my debt/credit, the slight razor-irritation, and the aftershave it knocked it down from a 3 to a 2 for me personally - which is still a great score. And yes, I will definitely go back.
Hes an amazing Barber.
While I havent had my hair cut by Pete in 12 years, since my time @ McChord AFB when he had a shop off of Bridgeport Way S.W. in Lakewood, I have never forgotten how good of an experience visiting a Master Barber of Petes caliber really was. Ive never been able to find a barber that comes even remotely close since that time, and never will. I no longer live in Washington or Id be there on a regular basis. Pete Lira is really THAT good at cutting hair...give him a try, you will not be sorry!!
I gave Pete a vague idea of what I wanted, and he executed it to a tee. Great craftsman and all around guy.
I paid $26 for a simple haircut. The haircut was poor quality and I was definitely unsatisfied. The top of my head had patches of longer hair. Never heard of a $26 haircut.
Pete and his wife are the best.
So bad so so so bad he make my hair so ugly
Thought about it once until I saw him use the bathroom with out washing his hands. Yuck I dont want his hands any where near my face.
Terrible service. Owner is a jerk. Harassed my co-workers and I . Never go to this place.
Good cuts
The guy had an nasty attitude on the phone once I asked him if they cut around the edge of your hair or did linings. Oh and they dont. Dont call yourself a barbershop if you cannot do linings.
Pete is the best Barber around
